Didn't realize how many of her hits were on one album. Enjoyable listen. Could be better for its time but the styles blended together to me so most songs sounded similar.
Honestly I really liked it at first and it was a solid 5 for me. But as the album continued I just felt it begin to drag more and more. By the end I was just happy it was over. First five songs are great and will probably make their way into my rotation in some way or another though.
Was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed this album. From start to finish I was totally engaged. It was the first album in this list that I thought was too short and one more track may have pushed this to a solid 5.
Neil Young had never been a big part of my listening history but will need to look into him more.
Honestly I went into this album trying to account for my bias of already liking this band. I usually think of Zeppelin 2 as their best album but this one was fantastic. Start to finish I was hooked. A few of the songs I had never really listened to much but instantly became some of my favorites from the band. The pacing was great, I felt some of the others kept the same tone throughout or changed things in a way I didn't like but this album start to finish was a great listen
Will absolutely listen again.
Honestly I was ready to write this album off in the first half but it really turned it around. Elvis has never really appealed to me for whatever reason and I wanted to give this an honest shot but by I'm Movin On I had almost given up. The second half completely flipped it for me.
It's hard to say without deep diving the lyrics but it almost feels like the order of the album could've been adjusted and made it a better listen. Overall though, bad album saved from a lower rating by the last half or rather good album knocked down a bit by the first half.
Fantastic album. Will come back and edit later.
Unfortunately the next day we had a better Bob Dylan album so had to change this one. Really enjoyable listen.
Another great album. I'll need to revisit these two because back-to-back 5 stars from the same artist feels biased but for now that's what I'm doing.
As I'm listening I really appreciate what she's doing here. The tone shifts, speaking out on social issues she cares about, vocal ability, and instrumentals are great. The strange thing is I feel that something is lacking. At points it feels she's trying something new just to try and it doesn't always land. Good album but this might be what keeps it from 5-stars for me.
This album is a mix of fun, catchy, and "what were they thinking." I've been enjoying it but it is difficult to compare to other albums on this list as the structure is much looser.
I think I'm going to change my judging criteria to be more weighted by how much I enjoyed the album rather than trying to compare apples to oranges to Moog Raga.
Honestly it was fine. She's talented but I can't say I enjoyed much of the album.
Hard to rate, there were some catchy songs but most of the album felt pointless. So far not seeing my opinion about the Beatles change after this.
Really fun album. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Was a refreshing change of pace compared.
Fun listen, stylistically different.
Will come back to relook.
Least surprising review, but I dug this album.
It lines up with music I already like so it was a nice addition to the list; however, it was not as good as other albums with 5 stars I've listened to here. Ultimately there are a couple songs that I'm adding to the track list and it is getting a good review from me, but it was certainly lacking at times.
The most impressive part was there was a 9 minute song that I actually enjoyed.
Some really catchy songs and a bunch of strange instrumental breaks. Didn't really know what to make of it. Liked listening to parts, zoned out during most.
There are probably better Bowie albums. This one didn't really connect for me.
Fantastic album. Really enjoyed the songs I hadn't heard much before. Some parts were unnecessary, like a 2 minute drum solo (sorry, not sorry Chase) but overall very enjoyable.
Luckily I had time to go back and do a partial second listen because songs I thought I didn't like at first sounded a lot better at home the second time.
Obviously I knew superstition but the other tracks balanced a funky and smooth vibe that grew on me.
Honestly I like reggae albums so maybe I just enjoyed it more. Was it the best album? No. Did I like it in the background while driving around all day? Definitely.
First time through I thought I hated this album. Nothing was standing out. Then Hip Poor Boy came on and I really liked the vibe shift. After finishing I decided to give it another time through and realized I must not have been focused on it much because it was an enjoyable album.
