The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers

Enjoyed the punk leftist vibes of this one but could not understand a work my guy was saying without looking at the lyrics

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Mar 21 2026

Title track is incredible, the ebb and flow of the guitar is just divine, definitely my favourite song on there though Super Stupid closely follows, and You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks, and Can You Get to That, and Hit it and Quit it, and… Haters will say the end of the album is much weaker than the first half but these people are just afraid to admit they liked an album that ends with fart noises

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Mar 21 2026

Enjoyable listen but wasn’t a stand out for me sadly. I did enjoy the reggae influences but Stings forced Caribbean twang was not for me. Favourite song on this one was Bring on the Night, liked the rhythm of this one

1984 by Van Halen
Mar 22 2026

What an opening, the sci-fi sound was quite unexpected but as a ‘techno that sounds like youre on a spaceship’ fan I bloody loved it. Jump is obviously a classic but I must admit beyond that my knowledge of Van Halen is extremely limited. Did enjoy the listening experience for this one, the music n instruments are just class, though it looses points for how much some of the songs (specifically Hot for Teacher) made me cringe. Jump takes the favourite song spot on this one (sorry if that’s basic) I just couldn’t help it

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Mar 23 2026

Incredible harmonies wowee. Just a a lovely listen overall but would I bother listening to the entire album again? Nah Favourite song in this one is California Dreamin (again sorry if that’s basic) the harmonies really shine in that one.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Mar 24 2026

Really enjoyed this one, added a few songs to my soul playlist from here. Picking a favourite song was difficult but I’ve landed on ‘The Windmills of Your Mind’ - didn’t add it to my soul playlist but I just love how it builds and the almost haunting start so wanted to give it its place on my 1001 songs from 1001 albums you must listen to before you die

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Mar 25 2026

Love the white stripes. Great album but not my favourite of theirs. Really like their use of piano, acoustic guitar, and marimba in contrast with the electric guitar and drums - the blend of genres is done so well with each song bringing something slightly different Favourite song was hard to choose but I’ve gone for Denial Twist - takes me back to listening to that on repeat in the school bus. Shout out to Poppy for introducing me to Jack White on said school bus

Chelsea Girl by Nico
Mar 26 2026

Pleasantly weird album today. Little bit of flute, little bit of distorted instruments, bit of a folk vibe. It was a pleasure Nico. Likely would not re-listen to this one but did enjoy it. Favourite song is ‘These Days’ for me though ‘It was a pleasure then’ was close just a bit long

Diamond Life by Sade
Mar 28 2026

What’s not to love here, Smooth operator come on. Love anything with a hint of jazz, would definitely re listen to the album in full Favourite song is hard to choose here, smooth operator is a classic but on this occasion I’m going for something new, Cherry Pie takes the top spot

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Mar 29 2026

Really enjoyed this one. Love a bit of a jazz influence Favourite song is ‘head over heels/ broken’

The Bends by Radiohead
Mar 30 2026

(Ice Cream) Good album just not enough bangers so probably wouldn’t listen to the full thing again. Do like radio head just not my fave work of theirs

Is This It by The Strokes
Mar 31 2026

Really liked this. Recognised more songs than I thought. Love a bit of a jazz influence. Favourite song is Head over heels/Broken though was a tough call

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Apr 01 2026

Not likely to listen to this one again but was enjoyable overall for a car journey. Song I’m adding to the playlist is ‘child in time’

1977 by Ash
Apr 09 2026

Not the biggest fan of this one. Was hard to pick a favourite song as didn’t particularly enjoy any of them. Added dark side light side to my playlist for this one

Calenture by The Triffids
Apr 10 2026

Decent bit of melancholy pop. Did loose me a bit in the middle then brought it back slightly, then lost me again. Enjoyable listen overall and some good tunes at start of album. A trick of the light has to be my favourite off this one, brilliantly dark and some of the better song writing on this album in my opinion

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Apr 11 2026

Live some jazz, love some rock, love a bit of silliness, what’s not to like here? Favourite song was close between a few but I’ve landed on ‘The Gumbo Variations’

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Apr 12 2026

Having to listen to this in full should be considered a hate crime. The misogyny and violence is astounding and as I’m not a teenage boy or incel I did not enjoy That aside the wordplay, rhymes, flow, and beats are mediocre at best. Very same-y and I feel there are much better examples of the genre that don’t appeal to 14 year old edge lords I don’t understand why this is on the list at all

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Apr 13 2026

Lovely bit of synth pop. Easy to listen to. Particularly enjoyed the music behind ‘So Hard’, ‘My October symphony’ and ‘Being Boring’ were also good tracks. Would I listen to the album in full again? Likely not but I will be checking out some more pet shop boys songs following this

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Apr 14 2026

Can’t believe I’ve gone so long without listening to a Hole album in full despite calling myself a riot grrrl fan fr. Liked it a lot don’t get me wrong but did fall slightly flat for me after the first track (I mean Celebrity Skin is a tough act to follow). Still listened twice in a row though and will be listening to their other albums

Apr 15 2026

Very fun album. Enjoyed my listen but not one I would listen to again. The end of each song was also slightly repetitive but it’s not a genre I’ve listened to before so it may be that’s part of the style or my ear is not accustomed to the slight differences

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Apr 16 2026

Bitter Sweet Symphony was the only song of theirs I’d heard of before and it’s an absolute banger so was looking forward to this one. Turns out there’s a reason I hadn’t heard more from the Verve - rest of the album was just standard sad Brit Pop stuff. Album went on too long and did get a little bored soz. Bearable listen and the songs are decent but beyond Bitter Sweet Symphony there’s nothing special here

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Apr 17 2026

Wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did! Mr Willie has a real comforting voice, dead nice. Will likely not listen to this one again so sadly cannot give Mr Willie more than a 3

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Apr 18 2026

Full of bangers. Loved the jazz and blues influence through the album. Just great

Parachutes by Coldplay
Apr 19 2026

Technically it’s not bad, just a bit boring. Some decent melody’s and such but starts to really drag on with the second half of the album being quite depressing - fucking he’ll just realised it’s only 42 mins, feels a lot longer. Don’t Panic is my favourite song and (not coincidentally) the shortest one

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Apr 20 2026

Enjoyed the punk leftist vibes of this one but could not understand a work my guy was saying without looking at the lyrics

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Apr 21 2026

Feels very classic 70s rock, some good tunes however I feel the covers I knew (particularly I Heard it Through the Grapevine) are just pale in comparison to the original

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Apr 22 2026

What a fucking tune Closer is. This album full of hangers, love how punchy n energetic it feels. Thought the length doesn’t do it any favours, each song is just a bit too long which makes listening to the album as a whole start to drag towards the end.

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
Apr 23 2026

Weird jazz!! Lovely stuff. Each song has its own atmosphere, I see where he’s coming from with film soundtrack - some of it feels Lynch inspired fr

Kid A by Radiohead
Apr 25 2026

Aye not bad

Faust IV by Faust
Apr 26 2026

Enjoyed this one. You know I’m gonna be eating anything featuring a saxophone highly

Harvest by Neil Young
Apr 27 2026

Just a nice album really. Some good song and was torn between a few for a favourite. Wouldn’t listen to it in full again, think it’s just not a genre I lean towards but did enjoy my listen

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Apr 28 2026

Aye not bad. Enjoyed it overall but felt some of the songs went on a bit too long for me

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
Apr 29 2026

Can see why our Noel likes these so much. Yeah some of the songs are long but the conversational aspect breaks it up well and tbf I enjoyed it.

May 04 2026

Seems quite a standard rap album, think I’m missing what makes it special/worthy of the list sadly

In Utero by Nirvana
May 05 2026

Feedback squeaking in France’s Farmer had me thinking my cars breaks were on the brink

Debut by Björk
May 06 2026

Straight up Björking it Incredible album, full of bangers. Makes it very hard to pick a favourite. Leaning towards the more boppy ones on this listen so will be one of them Still can’t unhear “Krampus I need you” at the chorus in ‘Crying’

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
May 07 2026

First Soul album from this list, can’t wait for many more! My only critic is that the album cover is shite sorry Al. 5 star anyway

Berlin by Lou Reed
May 08 2026

Not for me. Songs are a bit long and repetitive especially towards the end

Dirt by Alice In Chains
May 09 2026

Started kinda strong but very quickly I realised first impressions are misleading. Punchy start but entire album was uninteresting and samey. Topped off with shit vocals akin to guy from my office singing to the radio (sorry to my colleague btw) and I was skipping through songs towards the end.

Abbey Road by Beatles
May 10 2026

Was hearing up to hate on the Beatles here as do feel they’re over hyped but what a fun little album. Mellow in parts, moody in others overall very pleasant

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon
May 15 2026

Some bangers obviously (Sex is on fire is just iconic) but overall the album didn’t wow me. Pleasant enough listen but some of the songs were a bit same-y to me

Heroes by David Bowie
May 16 2026

So much fun, lostened to this 3 times in a row n I’d do it again. love you Bowie

May 17 2026

Not a massive fan of oasis but enjoyed my listen to this. Still feel they’re over hyped for what it is though

My Generation by The Who
May 19 2026

I did listen to this one but I forgot to write a review and now I can’t remember what I thought - I guess this means it was forgettable?

Imagine by John Lennon
May 20 2026

Can’t listen to Imagine without having severe flashbacks to that COVID era video with Gal Gadot et al. Rest of album alright if a little boring

Bummed by Happy Mondays
May 21 2026

Really wanted to like this one as think the guys from Happy Mondays aew iconinc, sadly I found the album a bit boring

Take Me Apart by Kelela
May 22 2026

Enjoyed the blend of rnb with electronic music, first half was stronger in my opinion. Think if id heard any of the songs individually out n about I’d think its great but the longer it went on the more repetitive it felt, the songs are quite same-y and found myself wanting to skip songs towards the end

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
May 23 2026

Just very classic 90s American rap album isn’t it? Fun but wouldn’t listen again, beats very similar across the songs so none really stood out.

May 24 2026

Not listened to much country music until I started this project. Had a few albums since starting and so far they all contain at least one song about killing your wifey after she cheats on you

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
May 25 2026

Beautiful album. Banger after banger fr It’s only drawback is the length - far too long I’m sorry Stevie

Amnesiac by Radiohead
May 26 2026

Enjoyed this one, especially the jazz at the end. However, a friend said to me recently: Radiohead sounds like a whole lot of waiting for something to happen but nothing ever does - this album is true of that, not much if any rise and fall, fr it’s like if edging was an album

Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds
Jun 15 2026

Pleasant listen and some good tunes. Somewhat forgettable overall as I completely forgot to review it and now can’t really remember what I thought beyond this

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jun 16 2026

Marginally better than Eminem

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jun 18 2026

I have a bit of a soft spot for the yeah yeah yeahs I won’t lie. First half of the album got those punchy tunes I just love. Second half much slower but I don’t mind it at all on this album

Jun 19 2026

Sad but in a boring way. Feel like lead singers voice didn’t really carry the emotion of the lyrics making it feel a bit flat. Music was decent but did feel like it dragged

Jun 20 2026

Intro had me really amped up for something more conceptual here but all the songs in middle are just classic mellow Beatles stuff - not necessarily bad but not what I was expecting and felt a little let down

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jun 21 2026

Not sure how I feel about live albums on this list. This is the first one I’ve had so far and the performances sounded great but was just too long as someone who’s not a mega fan

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Jun 22 2026

Enjoyed it less as it went on. Not sure I was in the mood for this particular vibe, just not as good as work Bowie has produced for himself in my opinion. Some tunes at the start tho so I’m giving a generous 3

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Jun 23 2026

Absolutely lovely. Some very fun songs on here however took me 3 days to listen to it due to the length

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Jul 02 2026

Like a bit of post punk but will say the album felt quite repetitive so would not listen again in full. Some decent tunes on there

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Jul 03 2026

Wasn’t expecting much from this one but really enjoyed it! Would give a second listen.

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Jul 07 2026

Loved this. Then read a review about Fats and his various albums, the naming, the history, etc and I love it even more. What a rascal, will be listening to more Fats

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 08 2026

Instrumentally it’s alright, vocally it’s shite sorry Elvis. Apparently the song writing is decent though can’t say that does much when all I’m thinking is ‘wish this guy would be quiet’ 1 star feels too harsh as that puts it in the same category as Eminem but that Eminem album was 0 stars really

En-Tact by The Shamen
Jul 09 2026

Just some proper early 90s dance music

Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Jul 11 2026

Jazz! Very nice easy listening, I do prefer Jazz with a bit of punch, slightly messier than this maybe but this was a gorgeous album

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
Jul 13 2026

Pleasant listen. Strong bedroom pop vibes. Doesn’t stand out to me overall

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Jul 14 2026

2 jazz albums in one week! What a treat Big fan of this one, enjoyed the varied compositions of this and it balances really nicely the ‘messy’ unstructured side of jazz with a smoooooth flow. Thank you Thelonious

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jul 16 2026

Good fun this one. First time listener to this band. Not sure if I would listen to the full album again but the Killing Moon is an absolute banger

Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso
Jul 17 2026

Love a Brazilian tune. Sadly the listening experience of this album was slightly ruined due to the Febreeze ad every other song. As it’s not on Apple Music I have just added a random other song of his to my playlist for this one

Quiet Life by Japan
Jul 19 2026

Cheeky bit of new wave, can see how this influenced the next decade of music. Little bit eerie at times which I enjoyed but not sure I would revisit this album again

Rio by Duran Duran
Jul 20 2026

Rio has been stuck in my head for days now, thanks a lot

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Jul 21 2026

Never cared much for Elvis but enjoyed this one. Just some short fun tunes

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Jul 22 2026

Pretty good but the instrumental bits are more my style than the rest of the album I think

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba
Jul 23 2026

Beautiful voice, such a fun album

D by White Denim
Jul 24 2026

It was alright to listen to but I don’t care for it much. First half of album better than back half in my opinion but not enough to listen to the songs again

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jul 25 2026

Incredible, loved every minute of this

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Jul 29 2026

Some of the instrumental songs were a tad repetitive and I’m still not sold on soundtracks on the list but hey overall this was an incredibly fun album and ain’t that what it’s all about

GREY Area by Little Simz
Aug 02 2026

I’ve got a soft spot for Little Simz tbf. Big fan of this album when it came out and for me holds up now even though rap isn’t as much my bag these days

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Aug 03 2026

Didn’t care much for this. Decent listen for a gym visit but not my bag
