Decent jazz album, good vibes, but definitely big band/swing feeling. Not as big a fan of a full instrumental album but did enjoy Darn that Dream. Unfortunately found myself ready to move on about 2/3rds of the way through.
While the first song has not aged well. I really enjoyed the rest of the album with its tour through Abba's musical capabilities. The 1st third is anchored by Dancing Queen and Dum Dum Diddle. The middle third is where this album shines as Abba flexes and shows off their musical prowess. The end of the album keeps up the energy and brings us home with Fernando. All in all a very good album.
The Beastie Boys ran so Eminem could fly and NYSNC and the Backstreet Boys could walk. They hit their sound on their first album and awesome songs like Fight for Your Right, No Sleep Til Brooklyn, and Brass Monkey bring a good, but ultimately not to my tastes genre up into the 3 range.
Its Metallica at their thrash metal best. One is an amazing song, and the instrumentals in To Live is To Die are an absolute headbanger. That said, for all the techniques used by the band, the album becomes monotonous the further you get in bringing what started as a solid 4 down to a 3.
Decent, a couple of fun songs, but mostly just great background music
Musically top tier, lyrically pretty good as long as you are ok with nsfw language. Overall this album wasn't for me, but i'd play an instrumental on repeat.
Its Michael at his absolute best. When the worst songs are Baby be Mine and The Girl is Mine and those still are awesome, then you truly have something special. He definitely met his goal of making 'every song a killer'
Fun background music, and I enjoyed hearing what came next. However i didn't feel like the album was pulling me inexorably through it. Instead it and I were just there together. Not great, not bad, just solid. And as soon as i wrote the above M1 A1 comes out of nowhere and rocks your socks.
Very old school Punk. I can hear where other bands drew influence from this. The cacophony is fun, but the album feels discordant. Probably a low 3 for me, but fun to listen none-the-less.
This is a much better take on emo than MCR. Moody in all the right ways. The spoken poetry instead of sung lyrics, this album scratched an itch that I didn't realize I had.
Chill is a great way to describe this music, this is a great find and i greatly enjoyed it.
The worst thing I think i can say about an album is it isn't memorable. Born to Be With You by Dion isn't memorable. I struggled to get through the album, not because any song was technically bad, but because it just didn't engage me on any level.
Beautiful album, chill vibes and great vocals. Definitely worth a listen. 3 trending towards 4.
Really enjoyed it. Music was upbeat and fun. Solid 3.
Rock music, pop lyrics. Started off very fun, and then took a turn towards something different towards the back half. It wasn't bad, but didn't feel like it belonged with the first half of the album.
Tina's voice is iconic, and massively shines in this album. While the lyrics of the music talk to a broken heart, the power and soul captured here is amazing. It's not a perfect album, but it is still amazing.
Fine background music
Amazing album, i either knew or was immediately singing along with the first 6 or 7 songs, but I felt the back of the album was a touch weaker, and would have been improved by swapping Paint It Black back in, like they did on the US release.
Initial thoughts, "Oh No, this is a 2hr album". Up to Brain Dead so far and this isn't bad. Nothing great yet though. Ok, i finished the album, and man that got tedious. 6 Wrote for Luck and 5 hallelujahs later and I was just done. It might just be on Spotify, but that repetition decreased a 3 to a 1 for me.
Great soft rock album, excellent album to just enjoy a relatively quiet moment
Very eclectic and had a hard time keeping my attention despite not having anything 'bad' about it
Just top notch, and the autoplay changed albums and I didn't even notice at first. Top notch classic metal.
A fond childhood memory.
Really enjoyed this. Funky beat, fun lyrics and just a general good time.
A fun album with a great walk through the Smiths capabilities
See Jimi, immediately get excited. Listen to EPX and wonder what people must have thought when they first got the album in 1967. Rock out to the rest. Great album.
Enjoyed this one. I have never seen the movie, but every song invoked a scene that I could imagine in my head, so Curtis Mayfield did a great job with creating a connection between you and the music. Extremely enjoyable.
Fun, enjoyed the autoplay after. Felt the heart in the music
Gteat folk rock album. A very pleasant surprise.
Its still David Bowie, so its still enjoyable. However it wasn't what I would hope for from a David Bowie album on this list, and thus I was left mildly disappointed. I guess that tells you more about expectations and why you shouldn't have them than anything else.
It wasn't bad, just really experimental for a rock album. Also ending with the Nutcracker suite was a choice.
Low 3, the early stuff just sounds like noise, but it improved as you went through the album, with the back 1/3 in particular being quite enjoyable
Decent album, nothing special but nothing bad either. A couple of the songs are quite long though.
Started slow and generic, and turned into a fun rocl album with a lot of very strong songs at the end.
Started as loud thrash and then changed to ok music with bad production. Songs went from quiet to loud and back to quiet and i felt like i was watching tv where tge show and commercials aren't at the same volume. Frankly it really detracted from my enjoyment.
Great album with some fun classic soul. Loved the spotify auto play afterwards too.
Made my daughter dance and sing along, automatic high grades. Also a classic coldplay album with a great soundtrack and awesome lyrics.
Very surprised with the quality of the songs. Especially after reading some of the reviews. The vocals were cleae, the music felt good, and overall i found myself really enjoying the album. That said, I would really like to be able to read the blurb for each of these from the book, and I really want to know what, if anything, differentiates an album you have to hear before you die from a sometimes mediocore collection of songs.
Our first repeat and it opens with a banger. The album is really anchored by Sympathy for the Devil, Factory Girl, and Salt of the Earth, but the other songs are by no question weak. Great album, highly recommend.
Good but not great. Still enjoyed it though.
Fun, simple rhythms and good lyrics. Felt like a nice cleansing of my pallet
I went into this one having no idea what to expect, and left enjoying the heck out of the album. It's got a different feel to it than a lot of other new wave albums or bands. I could see the influence on the bands of my childhood.
First thought, this should be an absolute treat. Second thought, oh this is Willie Nelson, not Kenny Rogers. Third thought, "Yes an album with s through line!". 4th thought. This is quiet nice, not necessarily my thing, but still worthy of 4 stars
This album caught my attention with every song and then intentionally lost it through the seemingly overly eclectic nature of the album
Great album with great songs and a ton of nostalgia. I used to fall asleep to classic stones as a kid and this brought back those memories
This is a very chill album, i quite enjoyed it
Smooth jazz without a ton of the flair that is sometimes found in other jazz albums. I think i just miss the brass. That said the way the instruments talk to each other is very fun. Very good album.
This was a good album, but not much more than that. Solid 3
This was unexpectedly good. I really like Sigourney Weaver. All in all a good to great album. Especially great because I had no expectations going in.
An absolutely amazing album. I had heard the back half before. But it plays so well with the front half. The only less than great song was Mother. Overall great album.
This has a good, sorta soul-esque, beat
And the vocalist feels like Marvin Gaye, but all in all its just an ok album.
Yes I am experienced, and I'm ready to experience this again. As expected, a truly awesome album that showcases a phenomonal guitarist in Hendrix. So many of these songs became classics and they still sound great today.
The opening track is iconic, the rest of the album is quite good as well. All in all, quite fun and a great incorporation of interesting instruments and themes.
I'm getting a bit of a phil collins vibe here and quite enjoying it. Especially from "Heads we're Dancing". Then you get to "Deeper Understanding" and that song is very poignant in the age of AI. I shall continue to listen and see where the rest of the album takes me. Ended up being quite an enjoyable album. I'm surprised to have not heard any of it before.
This album resonated with me in a way that the others so far haven't. The first half of the album is amazing, and while the 2nd half isn't quite as strong i still added more than half the album to various playlists. The way Tracy uses her voice as the main instrument really elevates the .music that is there to support her voice instead of the voice supporting the music.
This album is not my absolute go to, but Miles Davis's technical mastery is on full display in an album that helped make 40 minutes disappear in mere moments at work today. All in an all, it's a pleasure to listen to a master work, and this is definitely not the muzak/elevator music some comments claim.
A decent, but not exceptional album. I did greatly enjoy the variety on instrumental sections across the album that created a strong feeling of variety through the piece.
This was a fun sort of different. If your looking for a mental reset i feel this would do the trick. Lots of variety, and notging that felt dessigned to create discord in the listener.
This felt too long and while it had creativity it just dragged on to long.
This was an enjoyable walk down memory lane. I didn't know who the band was, but knew many of the songs.
While there are a couple of absolute bangers, this album overall was fairly generic.
Loved the intro, that brought a big smile to this Dad's face. Overall the album was varied in musical style and composition, but didn't feel like a cohesive album. I left it mainly thinking I need to go change my Doggy Style rating, cause aside from language that was a much better album
Today's album is very beastie boys esque, upbeat, happy sounding, and makes me want to rip my ears out. Its a weird sensation.
Language is foul, beats are alright, and this is the first one I am truly struggling to finish and looking for every opportunity to be distracted. I shall persevere, but man this one is tough
