1001 Albums Summary

Love the guitars on the first song. Pictures of home is epic. The melody + the instrumentation really takes me to another place. Lazy is the complete opposite of what it’s called the build up makes me want to hear it live. And the bluesy hard rock rhythm is enjoyable to hear. 8/10

Yellow is the biggest star on the album. It is impressive what they’ve created after learning about the pressure they faced of putting this out and their uncertainty and inexperience as a band at this point. Enjoyed the outro of High speed. A solid debut. 7/10.

The intro was perfect. George is a powerhouse as a solo artist. My favorite thing about this album so far is the slide guitar. The lyrics in “isn’t it a pity” has me reflecting on my life. This is a perfect song. If not for you is a love song filled with sweet words and striking imagery. The second part of the album wasn’t as captivating as the first for me but that’s because it was mostly instrument lead. The instrumentation is unreal but I wish I was able to experience it in person. I do appreciate the recall to classic rock and roll. Disc 1 is near perfect. As a standalone it’s a 10/10. Disc 2 is also extremely good but it wasn’t as captivating as 1 for me… probably because it was mostly instrument lead. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the instrumentation but I needed more for it to keep my attention. I feel like Disc 2 would be 10/10 if I were able to experience it in live. I do appreciate the recall to classic rock and roll. George Harrison is a true musician. 9/10.

Bring the noise had me making the STANK face. This album is the epitome of revolutionary. Black steel in the hour of chaos contains early sounds of gangsta rap. This album as a whole is powerful. It had me reflecting on the motivation behind the birth of Hip-Hop in general. This is the very foundation. Every non-Black “so called” fans of Hip-Hop should binge and study this before ever attempting to argue about the genre itself. Honestly, everyone should. Power to the people. ✊🏾

What’s going on is a critical documentation on the effects of war, economy, community, politics and livelihood pertaining to Black life in America. One of the most important albums of all time by a man who left the earth too soon.

I often hear conservatives tell artists to stay in their places; and to not be political blah blah. And then you hear an album like this that literally criticized and nearly dismantled the Nigerian government; imagine, art, to be so poignant and true that the artist is beaten and his mother murdered. The title song caused riots. Art can change the world. This album is a sword.

Immaculate storytellers. Can I kick it?

This album demanded my attention from the time I pressed start, and kept it. Exceptional in all forms.

Fight the Power, alone, is a 10/10. ✊🏾 Power to the people, no delay.

I like weird. And I like Radiohead. But I didn’t like this.

An extremely strong debut album. I liked this quite a lot. The Killers are also one of my fav bands. Mr. BRIGHTSIDE was one of the songs I heard the most during my time in the U.K.

A funny album.

1. I have never heard the 12-minute version of ‘Walk on By.’ I’ve always loved it but this extended OG version is supreme music. I worked a show dedicated to one of the writers of this song, Burt Bacharach and discovered that this guy wrote classic songs I LOVE. He don’t miss.

No Jones No Stones!

Damn good music. Safesurfer is the first song that really struck me and daresay I had it on repeat before I could continue the album.

Loved Starkville city jail and how Johnny used humor to lighten the crowd with his songs. This album is powerful. I just love when people use their gifts to amplify issues—-in this case, prison reform. You can hear how much this probably means to the prisoners. I got a lot of respect for Johnny Cash. A boy named Sue is so fun.

Nat is a zen experience. The flutes reminded me of a sunrise. What an experience to also listen to it as I was ascending on a flight.

First off, for the longest, this has been my favorite Beyonce album. It’s one of the first times my ear caught her experimenting. I remember when this magnificent work dropped. The sexuality she explored within this was addicting. The visuals were stunning and a clear descendent of my favorite artist, Kanye West. Beyonce is the second album on my 1001 list so far to receive a 5/5. A wonderful piece or art.

A classic album. One Way or Another brings me memories of my childhood. The melody of fade away and radiate made me really focus in to what was happening musically.

Peak.

Perseverance.

“Lethal poison for the system.” Because Paper Planes was so popular when I was a kid, to me it over shadowed the entire album. But this music is gold and is still relevant so many years later.

The intro to Lost in the Dream was wonderful music. A deep melancholic album.

What I love immediately is the melody and the sheer epic of their music. Suede’s songs are filled with metaphors and double entendres which are clear and enjoyable. There were a few songs I didn’t care for but that doesn’t mean it ain’t GOOD. The Asphalt world made me say WOW out loud and Still Life is a perfect closer. Idk if they made anything at this level before or after this but this is a complete body of work. 10/10.

A fuxk boy album

I actually really like The Smashing Pumpkins. And I like a lot of these songs… I just feel like this album was all over the place as a whole.

As much as the reviews hyped this up, I was quite disappointed. They say this is considered his best work, how in the hell did he beat out beyonce for AOTY.
