1001 Albums Summary

First album for me is Live at the Harlem Square Club by Sam Cooke. I had heard of Sam Cooke, but didnt really know anything about him. Well, he is an absolutely outstanding r&b singer and performer. Every song is an absolute classic. By this i mean some songs are ones that i know and love but did not know they were originally by Sam Cooke, some songs i know and love and were covered by Sam Cooke, and some songs i had never heard before but they are equally as good as the ones i had heard before. Captivating performances by cooke on every song, and the band and arrangements are almost as good as Cooke. The album begins with a brief intro that i wouldnt add to my liked songs. but even cooke's performance in firing up the crowd was engaging. But rules are rules: 4/5.
