Dog Man Star
SuedeGrandiose, glam, beautiful guitars and vocals. Peak Suede
Grandiose, glam, beautiful guitars and vocals. Peak Suede
Pure raw punk
Nah this ones a big old nope.
I put off listening to rush because I thought it was widdly widdly nonsense for Middle Aged men. Turns out I really like it. Am I a Middle Aged man? First track seemed almost prog-metal
Whiny voice, boring songs that all sound the same. I want to throw his harmonica out a window.
Probably Beck’s best, lots of good songs and not much filler
Some fairly generic glam rock tracks, but also some really lovely sweeping orchestral pieces. Original track listing is just the right length, will definitely listen again
Fairly boring and forgettable. Only saved a bit by a few songs in the middle
Kind of fun and dumb, would play again or put on at a party. Didn’t sound too repetitive
Pretty good for a live album, can’t help being too long. Not a big fan of the who but it was ok.
Really lovely acoustic album with some beautiful tracks
Beautiful seminal cold amazing post punk
Whiny voice, boring songs that all sound the same. I want to throw his harmonica out a window.
Quite nice and funky, good range of songs
Surprisingly quite enjoyed this. A few bum tracks, but the long proggy ones are pretty fun
Folky rubbish. Sorry Billy, would not listen again.
Fun and catchy, has some very obvious influences but makes it work in a not so derivative way
Short and punchy, sets the scene for mainstream punk
Some ok songs, sounds very dated though and ended up being background music
Interesting early garage album I hadn’t heard before, you can see how it had influenced many other acts up til now
Very weird. Has some interesting moments but the overall theatricality gets a bit too much after a while.
Fine, probably wouldn’t listen again. Some songs more interesting than others, you can tell this is a transition between them becoming a more experimental and influential band.
Excellent dance album that sets their future sound
Wasn’t too impressed at first, but then I really enjoyed and appreciated the crossover of metal and synths
Couldn’t really get into this one bar the few songs I knew
Loved this, can’t believe I’ve never heard it before. I will absolutely listen and love it again.
Fine, the interludes get annoying. Probably wouldn’t listen again
I put off listening to rush because I thought it was widdly widdly nonsense for Middle Aged men. Turns out I really like it. Am I a Middle Aged man? First track seemed almost prog-metal
Dreamy and ethereal and noisy
It’s fine, not as good as some of their others
Not very exciting, background music
Interesting to hear him get the prisoners on his side, unique take on a live album
Nice album with an array of different sounding tracks. Bit long though; and I still don’t understand skits
Frustrating mix of styles in a very 80s package, pretending to be a radio show
Quite forgettable
Started off promising then went into some fairly generic 80s electronica
Lovely lovely PJ, such a good raw album
Pure raw punk
Grandiose, glam, beautiful guitars and vocals. Peak Suede
Pretty good live album, all sounded decent
Fine, very long and samey. I can see how it would be an influential album for its genre, but if you are not interested in that it’s not very attractive
Really interesting mix of folk, ballads, and rowdy punk
Not what I was expecting, a really nice range of songs with some lovely instruments
Really surprised I’ve not heard this before, the kind of long, math-esque post hardcore that I like. A bit long, but I’ll definitely listen again
Despite it being jazz, I quite liked it. Nice and easy to listen to, good rhythms and flow.
Not bad, quite nice folksy singer songwriter stuff. I’d probably listen to one or two tracks again
I like Lou Reed so can’t fault this album
Sounds quite dated now, but still interesting and the covers are good
A bit weird and rambley, mish mash of genres and nothing really stood out
I liked the first half, then I got a bit bored and stopped listening to the second half. I’ll definitely check out their other stuff though
Some interesting bits where the songs are a mash of alternative and hip hop, but also some cheesy bad taste bits and weird skits
I’m not a big fan of jazz, but was still interesting to listen to
Not a big fan of Americana, quite boring
Not their best album, but still very good
Experimental and interesting
Another I haven’t heard before but wish I had. Lots of layers of noise and feedback creating something quite unique
Coldplay’s best album, a really good collection of songs
A bit too long (not a fan of double albums really), but more interesting than I thought it was going to be. The Cross is a banger
Quite nice and pleasant to listen to
Very 80s
One or two decent psychedelic songs, but largely forgettable
Smooth jazz, nope
Considering I ranked frank sinatra a 3, I feel this should get a 2. It’s nice enough to listen to, but I wouldn’t listen again
Such a banger of a debut album. Punchy, well crafted pop songs
The more folky, bluesy songs were nice, but the country songs bring it down to a 2
Not great, psychedelic folk all blends into each other
Some ok bits but largely boring folky singing
Can see why this is so acclaimed, really good tracks and lyrics
Their best, experimental but accessible
Nah this ones a big old nope.
Really nice hip hop album, very chill
Lots of people shit on Oasis, but they know how to make a bunch of anthemic singalongs
Not particularly interesting
Nice enough to listen to, a few tracks I would listen to again. The Iron Man cover is weird though!
Not my usual thing at all but very nice to listen to and chill out with a different vibe
Not heard of this band before which is surprising. You can hear the similarities to many of their related bands (lightning seeds, cast, the las), not bad but don’t know if I would choose to listen to them over others.
I think I enjoy this album even more than Transformer, such as wonderful songs
Not a big U2 fan but this is a pretty good album
Some ok blues, nothing too exciting for me
Once again not a fan of jazz, especially the more experimental stuff, but this was very interesting. Bits sounded like they shouldn’t be there, it was odd
Not as good as Folsom, made a bit slower by the fact he plays the same song twice
Sounds pretty dated and cheesy
It’s a bit overly long, but this is still a bloody great britpop album
Really good cohesive album from start to finish
Has a very familiar late 90s triphop/dnb sound to it
Some more jazz, wouldn’t listen again
Some ok tracks but overly long and not particularly melodic hiphop/rap
I’m not a fan of double albums and this doesn’t justify it at all. Self indulgent, half of it could have been cut. The bits that are good are good, but it ended on a whimper
This goes on a bit too long and ends up a bit too much like background noise. Quite liked Golden Hours
Good fun rock, Jailbait is terribly dodgy though
African blues is a totally new genre to me, but very interesting. The blend of the different aspects works well. Not something I would put on regularly, but I appreciated it
Such good jangly guitars and vocals, whole album is great
To go from murder ballads to this was such an amazing shift. Full of heartfelt songs and definitely one of his best albums, even if it does have Black Hair on it
Never listened to these before, I like the chilled out electronica mixed with audio snippets. Will definitely listen to more
The one Hendrix album I'd not heard. It's good, quite psychy and I like the stereo experimentation
I went into this thinking I would only know the big singles, but the whole thing is very familiar to me. I must have absorbed it as a child. Really enjoyed it, it’s a different direction after their first few albums and it sounds fun.
Definitely one of their best albums, if you leave out maxwells silver hammer
Perfect combo of lo-fi, raw, noisy and catchy. Undoubtedly their best album, and one of the most influential of the late 80s/early 90s
This album definitely sounds of its time, but it's a great blend of pop and rock with some catchy singles. Not quite as good as the follow-up though
This album is difficult because it has some amazing songs like Free Bird and Simple Man, but then also some generic trash
Really lovely album, he had such a tender voice
Very noisy, very energetic. Setting the blueprint for other influential bands that followed
I’ve heard the big hits from this but never the full album. I’m once again not a fan of double albums, but the over the top extravagance really works here. I’ve seen that movie too has gone straight into my favourite songs playlist.
I like Beck but I hadn't really given this album much attention. Funnily enough it also came up on a list I saw recently about the saddest albums. It's definitely sad, but also hopeful with some wonderful sweeping instrumentation. I'll absolutely come back to this one again in the future.
She’s got a nice voice, but nothing I would listen to again
I’ve not heard much early Rolling Stones, I’m more familiar with their 70s stuff. It was interesting to hear their roots, but wouldn’t really go back to it
Recognised the big songs and the rest of it was a really nice listen
