His worst folk album imo, but I'm a massive one foot in the grave fan
No brainer for me, this is the album I have in the car fgs. Dylan at a point where everything he typed turned to gold and his fans wanted to cut his throat, inject it
Really been enjoying It Takes a Lot to Laugh it Takes a Train to Cry recently, but the standouts remain:
-Like a Rolling Stone,
-Queen Jane Approximately,
-Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues,
-Desolation Row.
Just a fantastic album from start to finish, even if its my least favourite of the trilogy.
Very good, but not my thing- sonically gorgeous and consistent, but I think Id prefer 10 5 min songs over 20 odd really short songs, as I can only now remember 2-3 tracks specifically
Really solid, hard to fault. Comparing like to like, though, AC/DC's Powerage from the same year shows it LEVELS. Bon Scott decided to take things in his OWN HANDS. Great cover of You Really Got Me
A good listen, feel like I cheated having the lyrics on spotify open but I feel like there's not a lot of substance in these lyrics, but again a really pleasing listen
Was so happy seeing this come up, a true classic, loved this one for 10 years. For me though, fat of the land clears, even if this has more of an arcade-y appeal. Favourites here remain the singles, which are among the prodigy's best.
Only ever heard the hits here before, he has a command of language unseen in music, with such vivid imagery and apt metaphors. This is the second album I've heard of his, after the ill fated Spector album, and it's clear he's at the strength of his powers here.
A romp; a fun mess of themes and genres. I have heard enough ska punk in my life to not want to hear any ever again, but it's clear that this is some of whats being imitated by lesser groups. Big fan of the second, more overtly political, side.
Pretty good, great to hear songs that are great lyrically, even if its not particularly exciting! The first half was a lot better than the second
Yeah, it's good, pretty authentically celtic-sounding. If I was made to review this last October, when I was obsessed with the title song, I'd probably have given this a higher rating.
Was so happy to see this come up, this is an album I have loved for years. Seen the slits condescended with such accusations as not being proper musicians but this is a truly groundbreaking album, and sounds better than anything the sex pistols put out
Wow this is excellent- will be listening to this a lot
It's alright, but just got me wanting to listen to better stuff
Didn't give it too much of a chance admittedly. Felt uninspiring
Really enjoyed this
Years ahead of all other late 80s hip hop
I listened to this walking home from the doctor in a lot of pain, and this was just a misery compiler. Obviously very good, but I was unable to give it a proper chance
Yeah really good, understand the Bryan Ferry hype
Hard to find, and even then didn’t geta purport chance. Loved dejáme en paz
Been meaning to listen to this for a while, masisve hanna fan, this might be even more my thing than sleater kinney
A success in production, but on the whole really not for me: The Beastie Boys' delivery has always set my teeth on edge, and I find it hard to look past, no matter how good the lyrics are. The achievement here is the production, made at a time when the writing was on the wall for the wild west of sampling. Same producers as Odelay!
Yeah good, easy to listen to
This is shit, probably the most egregious of the list’s over compensating by adding recent albums in case they become classics
A personal favourite. They are a lot more kind of naive/ optimistic than your UK punk band but still quite sarcastic and vengeful. My favourite track is lets lynch the landlord but all the hits ie kill the poor california uber alles and viva las vegas are great
Yeah not too bad, liked the songs i already knew
Yeah not bad, not normally my thing but I liked it. Favourite was that one I'd already heard, though; Dangerous
Great listen, fantastic lyrics that show a genuine conviction to the cause
Exceptional, might find masel using this
LOVE Silver Jews. This, however, is the worst I've heard, why was only this picked?
Great album, I'm a massive fan of her first four albums and it's good to hear the next one is good also. Accidently heard it on shuffle which probably killed it but rest assured I’llbe back
I'll be honest I wasnt impressed, I'm usually a prog fan as well
Yeah this was really good, in particular the hits but solid throughout
Good stuff, hope to find a hidden gem i liked but no surprises sound and vision is the song here
Yeah this is boss, no denying it
Always great, the titular song hit like crack this time
This is slowly becoming my favourite of hers (I say that after listening to every Bjork album)
Fun, but so far this is my least favourite tropicalia album (that includes Beck)
Love this deeply nostalgic
Love this album so so much
Probably my favourite album of all time, so easy to listen to, sickly sweet
Very good, but I'm a bigger fan of their kitschy stuff
Great fun, Phil's a great frontman
Very much average, which i guess puts it below the peak of the bell curve. Good fun
Way too long, this should've been two stellar albums; fortunately the album is redeemed by the sheer strength of the songs. Savoy Truffle really impressed this time, but my favourites remain:
-While my Guitar Gently Weeps
-Don't Pass me By
-I'm So Tired
-Happiness is a Warm Gun
Phenomenal start to finish
I like the story albums more sry
You cant have a 15 minute album man ahahahha perfectly good in any case
Impressive to sound like this when they did
I liked the eponymous track
Great production as always
Good production, always liked ice cube and eazy e's delivery too
Most accessible cure album I've heard, and super good
not as polished as the other one I heard
Jazz was never my bag but this is enjoyable and very accomplished
Ecstatic seeing this come up. A favourite of mine
Genuinely don't enjoy them too much, some good songs here though
Theyre clearly good but man did this drag for me
So good, just not as good as parachutes
The titular song is great of course, but the rest is forgettable
Not my thing not my thing not my thing
Yep decent, usually really don't like the b-sides on bowie albums but these were pretty good
Decent, has me pining for roxy music
Good for what it is but this isnt me
I've only ever liked "I want to be there" from echo and the bunnymen
One of the first albums i remember listening to as an album. Genuinely experimental and innovative. Kanye will be canonised in a way none of his contemporaries will be
Good album, love stewarts voice
Of course it’s 5, but some people put this on a pedestal and for me its not even his best album of the 70s
Some all timer singles here, padded out with absolute fluff
Liked this a lot, clearly talented
They are top. Only heard The Royal Scam before, so know Steely Dan as having ugly album covers and great music
Was always super into Chilton's solo album bobbing for sherbet or whatever, so was weird hearing something so polished from him
Pretty good, my kind of thing. Am I a dick if I say they ripped off david byrne? is that even right?
Was ok, I think I'm desensitized to mr brightside at this point
He’s goated, no one else in the genre has the same ear, let alone voice, as Cash
Yep this is really good, missing a lot of what I love about the other 2 albums sonically but theres a depth here
Cant hate this is a great album
Didn't immediately transfix me like vespertine but I'm sure this will become loved like medulla
This is boss. Actually comparable with rum sodomy and the lash
Yeah, not bad. Not my favourite
Forgot how much I like this cover of all apologies
Heard it several times now, love it
I head peace frog before; I liked it. The rest didnt impress.
Yes it’s weird, and not in a for-the-sake-of-it way, but truly genuinely weird, but I dont see any value in looking at music in this way
