Mott
Mott The HoopleLoved everything about this album.
Loved everything about this album.
This album transported me to so many places in the 1950s/60s: jazz club late at night just vibing- maybe dancing with a handsome man, a cozy, dark living room smoking a cigarette from a holder and drinking a glass of gin, a fancy, expensive restaurant. His voice is like a velvet blanket. So full of soul and life but effortless. A perfect album.
Perfection as they always are. Has two of the most amazing songs ever created on it. Issa 10!
WOW. Where has she been all my life? I absolutely loved this album. Beats set my day up to be a good one. So inventive and different, especially at that time.
Singles are the best songs on the album. The Real People is also good.
Really enjoyed this one. Classic 60s album. Lyrical content seemed more meaningful than others out at that time and the songs seem actually inspired by personal experiences. Butchers Tale was a theatrical joy to listen to.
Album as a whole wasn’t my cup of tea, but can appreciate the instruments and vocals. First half of the album pales by far in comparison to the second half. All of the best songs are in the second half.
Funky and fun. Oye Como Va and Samba Pa Ti are masterpieces.
Loved everything about this album.
Decent 80s album. Loved “Mercy Street” and “Don’t Give Up” with Kate Bush. And of course, “In Your Eyes” is a classic.
Album was surprising good. I did, however, like the songs her she had features on the most- “Selfish” and “Pressure” were my favorites.

Quite a few iconic songs on this. Didn’t really love the rest, but did enjoy the song Road Trippin.
I had no idea what to expect with this album, but I loved it. His vocals, the instruments, his political commentary. What a ride.
Good little grungy album. Me 15 years ago would appreciate it more I’m sure.
Got pretty bored. They all sounded the same to me.
Didn’t make it through it, but what I listened to was decent.
Loved “Jacqueline” and “Take Me Out”. “Come on Home” and “40’” were good. Instrumentals were great, but album as a whole was meh.
Huge merp on this one.
I worked really well cohesively as an album and was probably great in its day. Absolutely love his smooth vocals.
Couldn’t do it
It was different, it was interesting. I loved the instrumentals. Wasn’t a deep level love for the album; but I liked it and finished it.
Fun, funky album. Love them and their music and vocals and talking throughout.
Can appreciate it for the 80s album that it was, but it was a little bit of a Snoozefest
Loved this!! So refreshing even for 2023, let alone 1989. I was hooked from the intro.
Sounded alright for an early alternative rock/grunge album, but I didn’t bother to make it through
Was alright but pretty boring, even for jazz.
Hated this from the first moment. Couldn’t finish.
Classic for a reason
I liked the vibe but I just wasn’t feeling the whole thing
Perfection as they always are. Has two of the most amazing songs ever created on it. Issa 10!
I liked it way more than I thought I was going to after the first song. Had never heard of them, but it was cool.
Was so unexpectedly good. Such a good vibe switch up. I would have loved it in the 90s!
Solid album with good songs. Forgot I knew the album so well!
It was ok. Was expecting it to be more like the first song, so thought I’d like it more.
I really enjoyed this one. Cool vibe that felt like a grimy 90s party, but in a good way lol.
I liked it. Moody, but oddly relaxing.
I mean, it’s obviously good for what it is. Just wasn’t for me.
The Stevie I always expect. It was much more chill than other albums but it was great. Didn’t expect to find the Usher “Lil Freak” sample on here.
Iconic. Legendary. It really seemed like all of rap came from this album. How inventive and fresh sounding even still today. Just wow.
Never heard of them, but really enjoyed this one.
It was ok. Not for me, but I can appreciate how incredible Chris’s voice is in every song. And “Black Hole Sun” will always be one of my favorite songs from that era. So three stars for that alone.
“Hungry Like the Wolf” is one of my favorite songs ever, but this album was nowhere near as good as that song would make you think it’d be.
Pretty good. Would have liked it more at the time I think.
Love lorde. Enjoyed this one quite a bit. Think the title of the album fits it well.
Unique and every song true to their sound. Loved it.
I liked this quite a bit. No idea what they were saying a lot of the time, but the entire album was so smooth and so… enjoyable.
This was alright. I liked the bonus track “Vegetable Man” more than I liked the other songs.
Was familiar with some of the songs on this one. It’s great. Couple duds that keep it from being a 5, but think they’re just a super solid band with good songs!
So talented but I CANNOT listen to another Miles album. I can’t. Lol.
WOW. Where has she been all my life? I absolutely loved this album. Beats set my day up to be a good one. So inventive and different, especially at that time.
Really enjoyed this one a lot. Only a song or two I didn’t care for. The guitar in “Red Lights” was FUUUNKKKYYY. Amazing music in general.
Wtf was this?
Not really my thing, but it was pretty good and what I expected.
Was really pretty and not what I was really expecting from the titles of the songs.
What an absolutely beautiful album. His voice was such a perfect fit for songs I never would have imagined it’d be. Love love loved it.
CLASSIC. Saved for future christmases.
Not a Bowie fan but it was alright!
Would probably be a good movie. Could see how the soundtrack would be bangin. I was in at first then I got over it pretty quickly.
I get why he’s a pioneer. Not my vibe but it was aight.
Enjoyed this one! Would give it a 3.5 in real life. Spoke to my 90s self. Bonus points because it has an iconic song from Clueless on it, so that was a pleasant surprise.
No thanks.
I really enjoyed this album. It seemed to well thought out and there were so many little details that just made it very special to me. I’m shocked I hadn’t heard of them before. I loved almost every song.
Can’t do the metal.
The world needed more from Lauryn
I didn’t finish, but it was pretty decent.
Couldn’t do it, but seemed sound lyrically.
Four iconic 90s songs. Alanis is a complete badass.
Didn’t finish. Another jazz album.
Nope
I tried and wanted to like it, but couldn’t. I did like the tone of her voice though.
Cool to hear in a new age store, but not for every day listening.
Couldn’t get through it
Didn’t love it, but it was alright.
I loved it. The instrumentals were superb.
Nope.
I’m usually a sucker for this kind of music, but I found it so annoying. Each song annoyed me more than the last one did.
Started off strong and I have some serious core memories of the song “Who Am I?” but still just decent.
So good and classic. Had a few songs I didn’t know were theirs.
Wasn’t too interested in this one
What a trip. Genius album, especially for the time.
It was cool. A good follow up to Pink Floyd. But I didn’t love it enough to make sure I finished it.
It was okaaaaayyyy. Not a big Wu-Tang fan, but respect it. A few decent songs. I’ll round up to 3, but more like a 2.8
Boring
Respect Devo, but not for me.
The QUEEN.
Masterpiece
Solid album. Some songs had more of a country feel than I was expecting. More like a 3.9 but not a 4
I have a feeling this one would have been a 5 for me if I would have had any idea what they were saying. I really enjoyed it.
It was okay, I guess.
Nope.
Not for me
This album left me confused. I liked the instrumentals. Their vocals were okay, different. Fitting for the genre. But I couldn’t make myself like them as a whole.
A perfect album.
The instrumental songs were gorgeous. The slow songs were pretty good. The rest was nails on a chalkboard.
Beautiful, classic Cuban music.
Didn’t like it as much as Paul’s Boutique, but the last half of the album is filled with heavy hitters and makes up for the first half.
Really enjoyed the vibe of this one. Listened to it on a rainy day and it was perfect.
