The Suburbs
Arcade Fireits kinda cool, sounds like a weirder coldplay with a more rock and happy vibes feel. i like their debut better, its more raw and in a way, closer to the strokes or something more rock and roll like that.
its kinda cool, sounds like a weirder coldplay with a more rock and happy vibes feel. i like their debut better, its more raw and in a way, closer to the strokes or something more rock and roll like that.
ray charles voice is one of the most beatiful sounds on nature and i love the way the songs on this album show that. You don't know me and i love you so much it hurts are the stand out tracks for me. honestly the only part thats kinda aged a bit are the backing vocals, but sometimes they still manage to get me somehow. i tend to no like that much the double albums, anyway this is a 4/5 for me.
i was about to make a joke involving the beatles and their let it be album, but hearing the first song i actually can tell some similarities between both bands, funny heh. its crazy how theres a lot of songs that as you expect of punk are pure musical riot and silly lyrics and then they drop a song like Androgynous, which talks about genders overall, in fucking 1984, thats so ahead of its time man, crazy. and very beautiful song too. no wonder its the most streamed one. overall its a punk record, not really my thing, but my feet never stopped counting the beat on this one, so great, thats all i want from an album like that. Seen Your Video absolute banger
i've heard of him and have being wanting to take a listen for a while now, i think the time has come then. such a different production on this album everything is either so close to you or on the next room. his lyrics have a cool sounding to them for whatever poetic reason, they also are really good, the refrains are kinda catchy, and the construction thowards them is bright. simple but great chord progressions too, with the major to the minor and stuff like that. very different playing of the acoustic guitar, i might search about it later, because it sounds so full and rich while mantaining a simple sound. even though sometimes i find his vocal exaggerated sometimes in the sense of trying too hard to express something and throwing too much air out in the process, i found this album great in general, not sure if its a 4 or 5, but since it will grow in me with time im going with a 5.
i already know and love this album. although not my favorite stones album this one contains some of their most rock and roll tunes. it obsviously has 2 main tracks that stand out, but in my opinion the other 7 songs are really good too. some really beautiful ballads too, love in vain, you got the silver. i personally love this guys ballads. my favorite tracks are the nasty live with me and let it bleed. midnight rambler is one hell of a trip too.
i like this album, in a funny way. its like the songs you make about random shit with your friends in school but way cooler because this guys can actually play instruments and found someone who could make it sound amazing in a studio. 5 stars! seriously though, its influential in everything it does, the lyrics, the singing, the playing, the production, the whole vibe of it makes it clear a ton shit of bands of the 90s and later loved this album.
the only thing im not forgeting about this album is the absolute shit ass cover, like what the fuck is that the songs are good, its just that ill never remember them except for the ones i already knew: american girl and breakdown.
holy shit what a great name for a band, the fuckin Pavement. i like this type of catchy melodie noise rock, its even funny, like the breaking of a vase or something in a museum. conduit for sale and zurich is stained are almost velvet underground songs. the first one is like those talked songs by VU and the second one sounds exactly like Lou Reed.
metal is not the time of music i tend to listen to, kinda lame not gonna lie. but this thing slaps, i think its the dynamic of the bass and the double guitars breaking time. anyway, its not the kind of album ill listen to multiple times, but its definetely an experience and something to remember whenever the thought of music cross my mind. also i like the fact that this vocalist doesnt sing in the highest pitch known to mankind and doenst scream like an eagle.
nah i know this, it fucking sucks. i can tolerate metal and appreciate it, even though its not my thing, but this is way too overproduced and im impressed how this has a 3.40 average review. because its disguting the amount of layers of effects they introduce to the songs. 80s are cool and stuff but this is the kind of thing that makes me wanna puke whenever i need to listen to something made in the 80s.
this is interesting, cant say i enjoyed it tho. at least i didnt expect much from 2003 "rock". theres certainly lots of colors in the mixing, the cover does go well with that. anyway, i cant see how a sane person can say: oh yeah this album, i love it, listen to it everyday. neither can i see how someone think its influential, because it only influenced me to take a dump so yeah.
i remember this album being cool, with just enough oddness and very danceable in general. kinda creepy too because of the cover. its really a precursor of the 80s bringing lots of the sounds of the decade to the table without that kind of overproduction. for me its a great album, not the one ill always be listening to because i tend to get overwhelmed by its almost 80s production.
aretha's voice and style bring such a caracteristic and unique atmosphere to the songs, an atmosphere that can either be of pure dance or sentimental. the mix of beautiful ballads and classic pop tunes on this album makes it one of her best works. i love her version of natural woman, although different then what would become the song on Carole King's voice some years later, it gives it a new and different voice, in a way that would have aged badly in anyones else voice, but its fucking Aretha Franklin, so it sounds incredible. Such an emotional and soulful album, as claims the title. Aretha do be bitchin' here
im familiar with cohen's early work, and although i didnt like all that much on the first listen it has grown in me. sadly his voice is in it's final struggle, so i'll try not to take that in consideration upon reviewing the album, for i think the real thing here is the message of the last moments of a dying beautiful composer. the thing about cohen's songwriting is that he makes everything about love. You Want it Darker is in my view about how he's living his last moments and although he is already in a very bad shape (very dark), God wants it worse (darker). But in another way, the song talks about love, in the sense that it doesn't matter what he will do, his lover wants more. doesnt matter how much he humiliates himself and gets darker, the one he loves and tends to do whatever for wants it darker. so as i said, everything that comes from cohen's lyrics talks about love, in multiple and different ways. although the instrumentation and vocals are not my favorite part of the album i'd say it fits perfectly the atmosphere of the album and even creates the whole atmosphere. i was thinking about giving it a 4 because of this points but honestly i don't care, the thing here is the message, fuck the music, im treating this as a poems book and giving it a 5. rest in peace leonard cohen.
i know nothing about muse, except for the fact that theyre one of those generic bands from the late 90s and 00s, which is a kind of music ive been lately liking more and more so this might impress me. i hope im not offending muse fans with this but it sounds like a more industrial version of radiohead. more eletronic, more pop and way more dense, with all the vocal parts and beats of synthesizers that sound like a rave soundtrack. overall it had some great moments, no bad songs here, but not really my thing. great travel soundtrack tho.
ah yes dylan without dylan. i really like the way this guys play, their songs are so colourful, theres a piano, a keyboard and a guitar doing their own thing with bright tones, they have drums that are economic but suficient and a rich and present bass that holds the whole thing from falling apart. on top of that, beautiful vocal harmonies of i dont even know how many voices that just wrap it all together. sounds like it was really fun to record too, cause its sounds like a big jam although i prefer their self-titled, this one is definetely full of classic catchy bangers and a 5.
a nice collection of perfomances, nothing too incredible about it, but each song sounds kinda the same and repetitive honestly. the kind of sound that makes me swing a bit and think about and love. didnt listen to the whole thing, i skipped through moments of songs and didnt find any that really caught me, but i think thats what you should expect of early 60s live albums. maybe ill listen to it again doing the dishes some day. a soulful voice really.
this was not as bad as i thought. kinda monotone and goofy tho.
im not sure how to compare this to their debute, its way too different. while one is the core of proto punk this one sounds as if bowie played with the stones. now, dont get me wrong, this is a great album, im just amazed by the difference, and in a way, i like this one more even more than the debut. it sounds really mean, iggy sounds like an evil son of a bitch, accompained by the precise and heavy rock and roll instrumental.
i dont know man that sounds kinda lame, not a big fan of hip hop beats. this sounds like marvin gaye's what's going with bad musicians, mainly the rythm session. i get why people would like this, just not really my thing.
as someone from brazil im sad to read the reviews that deny this beautiful album simply because its not in english. i like the fact that bossa nova has really changed over the years, this is really groovy compared to the early bossa nova.
genesis double lp got me like 😴😴😴😴 i dont know about genesis, i like a couple songs from their most famous album but nothing really gets me. its a prog pop kind of thing and i dont like it all that much. yeah ive listened to the first song and there aint no way im listening to the whole thing, i dont care if im losing on something, not doing that. the fucking bridges are the part that throw me off, theyre so angelical and they all sound like the start of a great and epic journey. no man, no. 2.5, in case its actually a good album
in a way i prefer amnesiac to kid a. i know i know, crucify me, but its way more melodic in the sense that its not all based on rythm. on the counterpart tho its not as groundbreaking as kid a. so i dont know. im a big fan of ok computer and thats it, was never really into any other radiohead album apart from in rainbows maybe. but this is great, just way too depressing and dark.
what the fuck brazil mentioned on the first track??? this sounds great, but not the kind of thing id go around listening to multiple times.
i didnt expect this to be this good honestly, but this thing rocks and rod has a very distinct graspy to his voice. also beautiful and groovy piano lines.
ray charles is awesome, this is all i got to say about this album honestly. was i gayyyyyyyy, till todayyyyyyyyyy??
i thought this was a 90s album by the cover. imagine my surprise when i heard a bunch of hippies hipping around. love it! there are some pretty groovy tunes here, like a less polished version of those parts in the long ass floyd songs where gilmour explodes out on guitar screams. anyway, what a great fucking album, and i had never heard of it.
this album is cool, some fine alternative rock songs or whatever i can tag it as. not all songs are great but the ones that are can be very catchy.
talking heads is weird. i find any talking heads album to be a hard listen. although i know theyre great and always grow up on me after a couple listens its hard. maybe because im not in a late 70s club or maybe because im not a psycopath. anyway, as i said they always manage to grow up on me and surprise me even. also this one is not as hard as the other ones ive listened to so far.
because of my lack of psychopathism im not giving this a 5, but its definetely something. there is nothing like this, great mix of danceable and interesting ambient music filled with talking people or whatever is talking. crazy that it came out on 81. gonna have to listen more to this until it sinks in but its already a 4 for me (8/10)
i prefered the big jam tunes than the shorter songs. i think that this would be much better if it was a instrumental album, but its very good anyway.
the thing about johnny cash is that his voice always sounded like this, so the fact that hes on the end of his life doesnt affect the quality of the songs, it actually makes it better, for having more reflexive and wise about life lyrics.
nah man tf is this.
although bright i find the lyrics on this paul simon album to be kinda silly. the album is good overall, but i dont know how its influential, since it sticks right before one of his more revolutionary albums.
i wasnt expecting this to be good, every single song here is great. the electric viola or whatever it is adds so much to the beats and grooves in here.
love this one, even the car song. it shows all sides of queen, the love songs, the epic ones, the silly ones and it shows the capacity of each member of adding something great to the songs. also about the car song, its not at all queen's worst track, people just dont like it because the drummer is a bitch and managed to make it a single. anyway, one of queen's best LPs.
i like the beastie boys, but its sound and lyrics, i just cant take it seriously. funny album
this too long, kinda prefer the other elp albums
this album is oddly beautiful. it sounds as chaotic as it sounds gorgeous. even when i first listened to it i liked it very much even not being as much into jazz as i am today. its an extent to what was being done in jazz on the late 50s with the incorporation of more "foreign" sounds. the way they come back with harmonies youre already familiar with and then add a dissonant sound to make it less comfortable gets me everytime. also i remember thinking it was amazing that something from 1963 could sound that crazy. now i see its not the only album from that time with this sound but it is still one of the best exemples of it.
eh whatever. also i dont really like the way he sings this early on, he managed to make it better on the next albums. i kinda like the experimentalism on it, but i dont think its that much of a record.
its kinda cool, sounds like a weirder coldplay with a more rock and happy vibes feel. i like their debut better, its more raw and in a way, closer to the strokes or something more rock and roll like that.
elton's voice is so catchy and potent. he can go from a sorta deep voice to a higher pitch that most male vocalists can hit. not a big fan of all songs here, some of them are a little silly, but theyre fun anyway. big fan though of the ballads and the other classic more known songs. didnt know this album at all, and loved it, its a 5.
what the hell is "world music", 1001 albums generator? im pretty sure its a racist way to say "music thats not in english". anyway, it has a great sound to it, the songs are short and catchy too. mexican music and the styles of music of the hispano-hablante countries in general are so intriguing. they have such a familiar but distant sound to it, its happy its frenetic, its elegant, and spanish is such a rich language, it has a revolutionary sound and beauty to it. its a great album, i dont think ill be listening to it all that much because its not one of my main languages, but its great.
although i dont like the sounding of some tracks here i admit they did a great job covering folk traditional songs. and also i do enjoy most of the songs here too, its just the crazy white miner sounding songs that make me dislike it a bit.
everyone likes this but i dont know. too 80s for me. while hes a fenomenal guitarist and that no fucking one can deny, the album sounds too industrial. i appreciate the experimentalism too but it doesnt save it really. not a big fan of the histerical singing he does on some tracks, although it adds on certain moments i cant help but to feel bad for his throat. even on the good tracks like when doves cry the eletronic drumming sounds terrible. we have the song purple rain here too, awesome track, astonishing solo, maybe saves the album a bit for me, but not enough. cant see the album growing on me eventually too. so sadly ill give it a 3, really dont get why people love it so much. what a fucking horrible cover too, those roses by the side ruin it. iconic but horrendous.
this is probably the best album i discovered with this project. its so rich and the influences it has injected on it are so evident. you have afro music, soul, hendrix crazy ass guitar parts, catchy refrains and it sounds like a classic in general, even though its from 2019. had listened to it and liked it before with my old profile on this and it has grown on me even more on the second listen. the lyrics contain social and political commentary too, which im always in for. piano joint is my favorite track here, its beautiful, truly one of the most beautiful songs ive heard. overall one of the best contemporary albums ive listened to.
this a fine album, some great songs here but filled with filler songs too i feel like. it shows a different side of elton's songs, different from what it would become on the next albums. his style of singing seems more rock to me, i cant describe it, its more raw i feel like, not better not worse, just different. overall not my fav lp from him, but enjoyed at least half the songs.
this shows zappa's composer side instead of the usual crazy guitarist side everyone is used to. and boy what a composer. this album gets to sound funny even when it doesnt have lyrics, the instruments itself are saying absurd nonsense and always telling jokes to one another. like on the end of the 3rd song where theres at least 5 differents endings to the track and it keeps going off. everything is so well arranged and written even when it doesnt sound like it. it has a great mix of both beautiful and trash sounding melodies, and they transition into one another seemlessly. i dont know if its my favorite zappa album, but its definetely waaaaay up there.
this is the album ive been listening to the most for at least 3 months now. its fenomenal. the acoustic part is absolutely hypnotizing, the way his voice echoes throughout the hall accompained by the gentle but precise guitar playing is my favorite part about the album. and although the eletric part doesnt have the same quality of audio it sure does knocks you inside your head. his singing here is of a drunk madman in a bar and the band follows that with an uproar of rock and roll noise, and it all sounds amazing. also i do believe he is completed wasted here, he talks like hes about to pass out and say stuff like "we'd like to dedicate this song to taj mahal". this last one is probably just dylan being dylan but the way he says it sure sounds hilarious. love the way he throws off the idiots that were booeing the hell out of the band, saying: "this is not brittish music this is american music". this is my favorite live album from dylan and from any artist really.
ive listened to this before, but it sounds kinda all over the place although good. theres a mix o 90s genres here, sounding kinda beatles even sometimes. nothing that catchy tho
im really liking the sound of this. has a chill from the old jazz tunes of the 50s and early 60s while showing a modern production with distinguished instruments and arrangements. feel like listening to it for a whole lot more, but for now its a 4 and i think it will remain like that.
this is hendrix best album in my opinion. big album? yeah. long ass weird jams? true. but it manages to keep you going allllll the way through somehow. its hard to set it but id say this is the one that shows the guitar work the most out of his three studio lps. it has more than any of the others the use of guitar as a sound effects machine almost. so yeah, this is his best work, and thats saying a lot considering what this incredible and beautiful man has done to music. rip hendrix.
this album is a following to bowie's invention of the 80s on the previous heroes and station to station, although he was not aware, (i think) he was creating the next decade sound with his crazyness. because of this berlin era, bands like the talking heads appeared and consequently influenced the 80s to become what it is. a shame some bands of the decade ruined it, because this late 70s sound of bowie's is awesome. not a big fan of the instrumental tracks because c'mon its david motherfucking bowie, i want to hear what he has to say with his weird alien voice. but they still manage to be interesting. its an easy 5 to me, as any bowie album will be.
fuck phil spector. shat all over let it be. well... and murder too of course. very jolly tho
OOBY DOOBY BABYYYYY
this album is almost perfect, the songs are all great and fenomenal examples of every single aspect in song producing and composing. it has tho some too dense songs for my taste, like so real and dream brother. theyre good songs of course, but their sentimental wheight overwhelm me. again, my taste. maybe im just too young or too old. speaking of that, holy fucking shit how can someone write a song like lover, you shouldve come over???? its sooo beautiful and the perfect balance in catchy and complex. his orgasmic way of singing is something i took a little bit to get used to, but now i see blatantly how beautiful of a singer this man was. its a perfect exemple of how much can music grow in you on some listens. have been listening to this for a long time now, and only started loving it a couple listens ago.
love the energy on this one. i dont know how it stands next to their prior record, but im pretty positive about both. feel like this one is more polished, maintaining of course the crazy and silly sound of the pixies. also love the way most songs are bass driven, gives it such a cool sound. its crazy to me that the album is built around them having fun with their own goofy songs. and thats exactly what makes me like. dont listen to it very often but when i do i feel good.
it opens with the multiple-awesome-riffs song, war pigs. just that alone is a 5 already i dont think i need to say more. the A side has all the hits but B side hits like a train just as much. i tend to be harsh on metal because its not really my thing, but this album i totally fucking respect, its a shame that such sound was lost amongst the trying of making the genre heavier and heavier while forgetting the genius mind behind the start of it. like all the parts in hand of doom and the second part on electric funeral, thats fucking jazz man, where did it all go? there's probably more recent bands out there with this sound but theyre not as famous as their other metal buddies. anyway, best metal ever made.
picture book tantanananantnanantna this along with something else and face to face is the gold of kinks. village green being the more solid one out of all 3.
this chaotic. like the last big explosion of jazz (as the cover says it all) before rock and roll took over the world. cant bring myself to listen a lot to it, but its a great ride.
really liking the energy on this one. sounds so recent but with that raw classic bass sound and the chorus guitars. it also doesnt have that shitty 80s drums sound which i always makes me puke. sounds very influential.
cool paul mccartney songs
although i really like the rawness of this album in comparison with nevermind i just cant stand some of the screaming moments. i find myself liking the more pop songs on the album. guess im just a poser nirvana fan, because i like nevermind more. this is a 5 anyways for me.
been listening a lot to this. it has such a mix of thrilling melodies and dreadful lyrics. some nice ballads too. my favorite tracks are i know its over and theres a light. maybe my favorite in the whole smiths catalog.
never heard anything of this guys, but i know they hate machines
this is bowies departure from pure rock and roll and glam. he starts to be weirder here. that exquisite feeling of the man who sold the world comes back after his two most glam rock albums, but in a different way, because now, i feel like he knows what he truly wants and knows who he is. it begins the style he would pursue on diamond dogs. its hard to track bowies progress in music; first, he had a syd barret kind of feeling to his lyrics, next album he went to a space folk type of thing; on hunky dory he explores his composition on piano based songs; on ziggy stardust he becomes a creature from mars and makes on of the best albums of all time, and polishes the glam rock of t-rex. on this one and diamond dogs he is a crazy dramatic rock and roller, also addicted to cocaine. then the berlin trylogy comes in and he basically creates the 80s, as i said, its hard to track it. anyway, ill give this a 4, because its not one of my favorite and kinda dense on times.
this album aint just sexy as fuck, it IS fuck. for real though, every song has this same vibe while being very different from each other on structure, melody and arrangements. shows how marvins music could be as sexy as revolutionary, on the whats going on album
imagen
its the king what can i say
i am completely blown away by how much i misinterpreted this album when i first listened to it couple years ago. its so different from anything else and colourful in so many ways while having the darknes you'd expect from someone as close to death as bowie was at the time. absolutely loving it, the rythm section on the first song for an exemple is still the hardest to get used to for me. such a crazy rythm in that drum part... but its a 5 to me on this very second listen and im sure it will eventually be a perfect one to my ears. and good lord, I Can't Give Everything Away is such a perfect closer.
its crazy to me how something that sounds so outerwordly comes from 1971, a moment in music that lacked the easy access to sound effects the studios have today, still theyre all here on this album, and sounding a whooooole lot better than the ones in todays music. apart from that, listen to the guitars and how busy and full they are, also the bass tone and how they work with presence, being there sometimes and sometimes not. the drums are right there, just tight and always making the unusual time signature and changes sound good to our ears. and as i said in the beginning, the keyboard, which is responsable for half the crazy sounds here. i really like Yes, its a shame i cant bring myself to listen to it for a whole lot for some reason. anyway, people dont like this album because it comes before Fragile and Close to the edge, and i get it, its not as strong as these two (also no Rick Wakeman), but its is solid and has some of my favorite tunes by them, such as ive seen all good people, yours is no disgrace and perpetual change. Yes slaps no matter fucking what!
this has a very different sound to it, some light experimentalism with the instrumentation and great production for the time. love how the overdubs on vocals sound. such an ambiency.
really liking this one, very well produced and arranged. the vocals seem to be very well thought for each song style. that main theme on the beginning of the album with the piano and whistle is my favorite part of this, such a misterious and different sound. love the way the album ends like this too.
i have such a weird relationship with radiohead. love ok computer, really like the bends, enjoy in rainbows but thats about it. ive listened to kid A a lot and i just cant wrap my mind around it. such a weird experimentalism. but i get why its influential, it just didnt have a huge impact in the kind of thing i like, because its alllll rythm screw melody. its criminal to give it a three, because its an awesome album, just not my thing, so 4 it is.
this has some beautiful vocal harmonies that reminds me mostly of the beach boys, in a way its has a lot of similarities with pet sounds. its very well produced with a great atmosphere. the songs sound exactly like the cover too. lovely album in all aspects. i want to get more into this one, but i think its pretty good already.
sorry bob, cant say i love this album as a whole. love the songs here, but it gets dull. i cant explain it any further really, a big portion of the songs are easily 5 but the album is a 4 maybe a 3 even.
this is a big album, full of georges neglected songs, both by his former bandmates and even by george himself. what gets me about the songs here is that it has a whole bunch of great songs, but theyre so split. beware of darkness and the title track are both on the second disc, and theyre great. for me its a great collection of songs filled with and hour+ of not so good stuff, resulting in an album i rarely bring myself to listening to its whole. still great songs tho.
their weakest album
bets beagles album
this is the best deep purple lp i'd say. has the most amount of the hits and their best songs in general. even the ones that arent thaaaat well known here are great. shoutout to blackmore and even more to john motherfucking lord. one of if not the best rock keyboard players. blackmore, as i was saying is a great and distinct guitar player too, and although he is recognized as such, i think he deserves more. highway star has one of the best solos of all time and smoke on the water although known for its main riff, has a great solo too. awesome sounding album overall.
picks up a banana, peel it, eats it, gives a 5, refuses to elaborate.
this has great mix of folk, rock, folk rock (duh) and hard rock. its has the beautiful and polished helpless and the dirty bluesy almost cut my hair. all that makes to a excellent album. my newest discovery, neil young, makes a little appearance on some songs here, bursting out his rapid vicious pentatonic guitar licks and singing like an angel dressed as a farmer.
holy shit i love this album, one of the only albuns im proud of enjoying cause no one else talks about it. it has such a mystic vibe to it while being extremely folk, i guess thats what buckley is all about really. the range on his voice too is very clear here on songs like gypsy woman and buzzin fly, roars to whispers. probably my favorite of his, love to listen to it as i fall asleep.
