People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm
A Tribe Called Questexcellent, relaxed, profound "alternative" hip-hop
excellent, relaxed, profound "alternative" hip-hop
great record, not what I expected; more mid-90s Radiohead than Pearl Jam. will listen again
Classic. Familiar.
much better than i thought it would be--solid playing by the band, good songwriting.
Awful. A joke. There are many albums in this genre that would be more appropriate to put forward.
AC/DC are the exemplars of hard rock, post-Zep but pre-Hair Metal. And you can hear the influence of the former on them, and their influence on the latter. No hard rock riffs feel more natural and inevitable than Angus Young's, and his tone and time are to die for. (Just listen to other guitarists try to play his "simple" riffs.) Having said that, this is a one-vibe/one-harmonic-formula/one tempo band, so there's not much to be gained from listening to an entire record. Standout tracks are excellent, though--the title track and "touch too much"
Lovely record. Not groundbreaking or earth shattering, but she sings beautifully and the songs are soulful and authentic.
Good, honest record. Worth repeated listening.
truly a classic.
Much better than I thought. Great, hard-rockin album.
great record! good beats
Unique, very creative. Part alternative-universe Beatles, part free jazz/jam band/ambient exploration. Love the Syd Barrett Pink Floyd. (how on earth did they go from this to Comfortably Numb in ten years? Crazy.)
It fully is what it is. A snapshot of its time and cultural context. Clever, good songwriting with a message, and surprisingly funky (who's that BASSIST?).
It's fine, but there are 1001 more accomplished and interesting singers and records from Brazilian artists than this one.
Great record, rocks much harder than I thought it would! The songwriting is just perfect.
I like this band a lot. It does get a bit monotonous, for my taste, but you can say that about lots of things, I suppose.
interesting as a historical document, a snapshot of its time, but not all that fun to listen to. there are plenty of other examples of psychedelia from this period that are more worthwhile and which have stood the test of time better than this.
nice album. Nico's voice is unique. Great guitar playing and songwriting on this!
Amazing, beautiful, personal, hard rockin. Five stars.
great record! rocked hard
Legendary. Epic.
Decent record. Sweet Love is a classic, but the rest of it is pretty blah.
As with so many Joni Mitchell records, this is a masterpiece that isn't actually that fun to listen to. (What a terrible opinion to express! I'm sorry.) She is brilliant, and there is so much brilliance here. I just don't find myself turning to it.
had no idea this was such a fine album. 1976?!?
Decent record, I just don't dig it quite as much as others seem to.
Cool beats! Fun record.
a classic of my youth. not as great as I thought it was when i was 13.
No idea this existed. Pretty cool!
Solid, interesting
Creative, and I applaud their strong ideas. But it's too sloppy for me.
totally cool, and a total surprise. great songwriting and bass playing
Very good songwriting and the vocal harmonies are fabulous. Sounds old, but also like a classic.
Cool-ish, sounds quite dated to me.
great, better than the beatles
not my cup of tea
made me who i am
It was fine. Very well-produced and crafted. Just kind of bland. There's no edge, no unique viewpoint, it's like, "safe music."
very cool, i dig it a lot
Goodness, this album sucked so much more than I thought could be possible. Comparisons to Joni Mitchell? No way. This guy sounded like Pete Seeger and Gordon Lightfoot’s less-talented cousin, and the arrangements and ensembles were comical.
Hilarious, great beats, a snapshot of 1990.
Unique, beautifully done, worth multiple listenings
yeah fine whatever
This shit sucks, real bad
was not interesting to me
amazing, perfect
Good, not my cup of tea
I adore Nick Drake. This is the least of his three albums, I think. A little goofy, and his voice on the guitar is obscured.
it didn't reach me, don't know why, thought it was a little clumsy
Amazing record, I had forgotten how good it is
Nice, not life-changing, but a cool document of an interesting scene.
Unique, still sounds great.
five stars for guitar alone. Changed things.
Poseurs, and not really competent. I know what they are going for, but it doesn't come across as genuine to me.
Better than I thought. An enjoyable record. Geniuses, they are not.
Great, as are all things by Fela Kuti. One star deduction for the presence of Ginger Baker, boo to that
Great songwriting, production was a little strange. He seemed almost to be caricaturing himself a little with this one.
It's just not all that. A boring record.
I found absolutely nothing to like about this record. How anyone could enjoy it is beyond me. But, vive la difference.
Pretty cool and fun. I can't see why it was THAT popular, but definitely an enjoyable record.
cool.
Good record, loved it when it came out
kind of boring
Rhythm section was on point. Hard to take the rest of it seriously, though.
amazing, classic
what's the fuss?
pretty cool
Pretty shitty.
interesting, creative, well-done. Not sure I will seek it out for multiple listens.
masterpiece
pretty darn cool. sick grooves, much moreso than I was expecting
Sarah Vaughan is a genius, but this is not a great live record.
excellent mid-90s soul/acid jazz. Would be four stars but for the shitty and pointless Doors cover.
