A Hard Day's Night
BeatlesIts the Beatles...but not one of their best. Sadly, because they are the Beatles, they get judged against themselves.

Meh
Classic late 80s synth-pop. Like plainsong (big orchestration) and Proayers For Rain. Think I probably hear Love Song a million times in the late 80s' early 90s
Wow...I respect all that he has done but to me, this album was difficult to listen to. Although I still love Danny Boy, Desperado, and many of the others on this album I think his voice is more applicable to some of his earlier work. I do think it is fate (or Cash looking down on us) that the album today was by Cash. 🐕🦺
Oddly appealing. Of course everyone knows/likes Praise You but the remainder of the album is just different enough from what I normally listen to such that it was...oddly appealing...
Smooth as silk! Love this album...classic early 70's R&B with just a touch of funk. This album and this group certainly set the path for the groups that followed them.
Nope, never again. Can I get that hour back?
Featuring the 'Queen of Rock', this album captures the world of the late '60s. With JJs unique voice (*Always* powerful) and the rest of the Big Brother and the Holding Company supporting her (love the purposefully (?) out of key guitars, you can hear/feel their passion for the music. Piece of My Heart is a classic and I really like the Turtle Blues. Really like this album.
Jerry Lee, one of the pioneers of the early days of rock-n-roll, found something that works (High energy, faster tempo, piano-based blues) and stuck with it...over and over and over again. Everyone's 'best of the oldies' playlists needs to have at least one of his songs...but not more than one. Fun to listen to for sure and makes you tap your toe and maybe even get up and dance. Very enjoyable.
Love this album if for no other reason in that it reminds me of the mid 70's. Her voice is appealing (to me) and her drummer plays *exactly* what I would have played if I were recording with her. No song really sticks out as a highlight but there were no songs that I didn't enjoy. Glad to have listened to this one, for sure.
Aerosmith, with their more 'refined' sound of the late '80s. Layers upon layers of instrumentation (i.e., Love in an Elevator) plus that classic voice. And really, there are so many hits on this album it is like a greatest hits collection. If I were to pick a 'pop rock' album that defined this time period, this is it!
Love the band! And Ray Charles is, like Johnny Cash, an iconic voice that helps to define American music over the last century. Simply LOVE this album. A bit mellow with orchestration but still brings a smile.
Very much 80's synth...meh
First CD I ever purchased (in 1986) and IMHO it still sounds current. Love the different compositions but my favorite is still probably Don't Give Up.
Don't get it...don't want to
Not his best stuff but still a nice mix of Genesis sounding stuff while PG gets out on his own.
Meh...OK, I guess. Wouldn't go out of my way to listen to this again
Black Hole Sun is still one of my favorite songs from this era. This is a classic from the grunge era.
Meh, nothing great, nothing too bad.
Classic '60s sound with the harmonies etc... Love this!
Very repetitive. Like their sound but the language barrier is a challenge.
If you like guitar-oriented album rock, this is for you. Superior musicianship across the board and clever, albeit juvenile, lyrics that extol the virtues of that rock musician lifestyle. I feel like they were able to capture a live rock sound/show/energy in a studio album.
Like how much 'sound' they can produce with just 2 people. Also love the way that their songs are all just a bit different.
Nope.
Early punk/pop...enjoyed this.
...kept waiting for " Hey Ya"
This album gets 4 stars just for having Bittersweet Symphony!
Average early 90's British (?) rock.
Sorta generic, mellow, early 70's music. I don't here the passion that I hope for.
Classic album by classic band. Hard to believe that was 1969!!!
When people 'complain' about the music of the 70s only being disco, this album, along with Boston and Foreigner, are the albums that I bring up to let everyone know that there is a great deal of non disco-based music that cam out in the late 70s.
Simply "THE VOICE". Never be another one like her....additionally, as a young drummer this was the first group where I could play along...extra points for that!
One work...interesting. For the most part is it just noise but putting it all together it is...interesting
Another late 70's classic. And with the addition of Steve Gadd on the drums, this is really about as good as it gets for what we now classify as Yacht rock.
Like their sound, and the layers within the songs.
Like the music and the compositions but the voice is starting to grate on me...maybe a double album is a bit too much.
OK... nothing more, nothing less
Its the Beatles...but not one of their best. Sadly, because they are the Beatles, they get judged against themselves.
Classic Dylan. Like it and love the fact that he cares about the lyrics in his own mid-60s style.
Like Thelonious Monk and his cast of all-star musicians on this album. He is, obviously, a virtuoso and his playing goes from lyrical and melodic, to chaotic and all over the place, often from bar to bar. Not 'easy' to listen to but it is enjoyable in the be-bop, late 50's jazz style.
What a great sound they produce . Classified as progressive rock (due to the odd time signatures?) the band is one of the classics of the progressive rock movement. And Jon Anderson's voice is a unique masterpiece.
Its OK. Nothing great, nothing too bad. Like the instrumentals more than the songs with lyrics
Nice...
Yep, this is about as good as it gets in this Genre.
The songs all start to sound the same....just a tab bit too much distortion
Not really my style...
Marvin Gaye's take on some classic 'soul' hits. Love the voice but I kep expecting to hear the 'original' version of the songs
Simply the best pop of his era.
Gotta love ZZTop in all their guitar-based glory!
Where is "Come on Eileen"??????
NO!
Love her voice, what a range. We all know Beautiful but I'm really a fan of Cruz
Yep, Its Metallica.
The Boss!
Old country...not so much a fan.
Lots of 'catchy' pop hooks. Like the female's lead voice. Maybe a bit Synth-heavy for my tastes but still enjoyed listening to this album
Love it...organ jazz!
Not good, not bad...
Disco kings/queens, for sure!
Like the rhythm ...but they all started to sound very similar
Classic
Never heard of them before but I really like the sound and the difference between songs.
Like the lead singer's voice. Also like the chord progressions across the album
Love the sound.
NO!
Hey, it's Sinatra
Not really my style...very repetitive sounding
Smooth....
- meh -
Purple
He makes it sound so easy.
early 80's
British rock
All time classic
Really like this!
early U@ before they were as 'polished'
smooth sound
Boring
Bowie, meh
No!
Come on Eileen
Sounds like the synch-related 80's
Too much Piano :-)
Not my cup of tea
Sounds like the B-52s.
Average at best...
Sounds like Queen...
Just for Bohemian Rhapsody
Meh
Like it!
A bit too mellow
Really, doesn't get much better
Great post-Beatles work by McCartny
Liked this more than I thought I would.
Its ok...
Not my style...but OK
Enjoyed this
Love this! Generational music...changed the sounds of music.
Gets a 4 just for Birdland!
Typical Offspring...a bit fast and furious
Truly a rock classic.
Great stuff from that era...
Meh
