We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention

What on God's green earth am I listening to? This is horrible and nonsensical and artistically worthless in my view. It's like a bunch of strung-out ferrets invaded a recording studio and proceeded to muck around with unknown gadgets to make random noise. (Apologies to ferrets, as this is not intended to offend you.) What a waste of my time. Why is this drivel a part of a list like this?

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Jan 11 2024

More blues influence than I expected. Very folksy at times.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jan 15 2024

Not a fan. Jazz incorporations don't make sense to me. Too experimental. Too electronica. Not structured enough. Just ... don't want to hear it again.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Jan 16 2024

Lots of songs I'm familiar with, but it's not singing to me. I actually prefer the covers of songs like Smooth Criminal and Man in the Mirror than the originals on this LP.

Closer by Joy Division

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream

Blur by Blur

Feb 08 2024

Caribbean afro pop meets Paul Simon. Most songs are twice as long as they need to be, and the music could, for the most part, just be put on a loop. The singer is quite talented. Otherwise, not something I'd ever want to listen to again.

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Feb 09 2024

More musical than I expected out of a rap album, so that was a nice surprise. Not my style of music, but I didn't outright dislike it. What is the obsession with Iron Man / Tony Stark? I think I heard at least ten references on this album.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Feb 16 2024

This album did not age well for me.

So by Peter Gabriel
Feb 20 2024
Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Feb 21 2024

Boring. Depressing. Uneven vocals. Just not my thing.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Feb 29 2024
The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Mar 06 2024

Bland, boring, and unremarkable. I don't get why this album was made. I love strings, but they did nothing for me here.

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention

Copper Blue by Sugar
May 02 2024

I like the sound, but it all merged into one-note-ness for me.

Dummy by Portishead
May 08 2024
Fetch The Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple
May 10 2024

This album made no sense to me, and quite frankly I am flabbergasted that it's included on this list. It's a 100% miss for me.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 14 2024
Smile by Brian Wilson
May 15 2024
You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
May 21 2024

How is this a top 1000? I get it's a good bye album, but that should have no bearing on placement on this list. Definitely a miss for me.

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
May 22 2024

Unimpressed. Sounded like looped background music. Maybe the album was influential in its time, but it has no influence on me.

May 27 2024

30 years ago thos was a high 4 or a 5. On a re-listen, it's a solid 3+. It's solid, but it hasn't aged well for me.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
May 28 2024

Such a good album. Brings back memories and reminds me how talented PF is.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
May 31 2024

Ugh. Why?

Jun 04 2024

Some classic songs. Some interesting songs. Some stupid songs.

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Jun 06 2024

WTF is this? And how was this even remotely considered to be a candidate for this list? Noise, unintelligible chaos, and so many puerile lyrics. I hear blues influences for sure, and I certainly hear explosions. But this will be the first and last time I listen to John Spencer's Blues Explosion. Just ... no thank you.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Jun 11 2024

Such an influential classic. For me it holds up very well to a re-listen.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jun 13 2024
Planet Rock: The Album by Afrika Bambaataa
Jun 14 2024

Discount Beastie Boys with discounted value. Not my jam, and I don't get how this belongs in a list like this.
