Among The Living
AnthraxThought I would hate this one but turns out I liked it a lot. Liked the music and the lyrics.

Easy listening album. Liked most of the songs. Probably wouldn't listen to it over and over again.
Boring. Felt like white noise.
Definitely not background music. This album demands full attention. Love it.
Listened on a gloomy rainy morning. Fit my meditative, quiet mood. BTW unable to play it on spotify. Had to find it on you tube.
Meh. Kind of teenage angsty. Second half was more interesting.
So horrifying. So real. Couldn't look away. I was going to give it a 1 star. But it haunted me all day. Does that mean that it should get 5 star? I'll go with 3 just because I can't decide.
I'm not a fan of this music. I thought the album was tedious. I find the guitar crescendos annoying. Not my taste.
So I just dissed the Dust because I said I didn't like loud crescendo-y guitar playing. BUT I do love the Ramones. I guess if you add a consistent up-beat in-your-face dance beat to it I'm hooked. I mean, who couldn't want to dance to Blitzdrieg Bop or Judy is a Punk.
Liked it. Liked the opening with a good rock and roll vibe.
Loved it!
Great album. Love hearing it now and then but wouldn’t add it to my queue. Hmmm… Does that make it a 3 or a 4?
Wow. That was sick. Song of Joy and O’Malley’s Bar…so disturbing.
Trippy electronic music doesn’t do it for me. I can see grooving to it in a disco but hard to just listen to a whole album in a normal state of mind.
I love Paul Simon! Great song writer and musician. I never get tired of listening to his songs. I probably would have picked his Graceland album as the one to pick for the 1001 compilation.
Another great singer song writer. Love Word on a Wing, Golden Years and TVC15.
Meh. Didn’t hate it. Kind of annoying background music.
Thought I would hate this one but turns out I liked it a lot. Liked the music and the lyrics.
I liked it but it didn’t draw me in.
Like the bluesy feel of this album.
Never heard of Nico. Found album interesting. Read her bio. Seems she was a constant presence in the music scene of the’60s and’70s. I’ll give the album 3 stars because of its historical interest.
It’s all about the guitar. I loved listening to this album.
Most anything Paul Simon is easy to listen to. This one brings back memories so I’m giving it a 5.
I enjoyed listening to the album. I liked Stand and Orange Crush. But the album didn’t wow me. So I guess a bit better than 3.
I thought I would hate this album after the first cynical song. But by the end of song two I was hooked.
Didn't enjoy this album.
Never heard of these folks but enjoyed the album. I liked her voice and most of the songs on the album but the music got a little tedious.
Liked the horns. Kind of liked the whiny angsty lyrics. Kept me interested.
Liked this album a lot. Fun to listen to all the way through.
Hated it. As mom used to say, just noise.
Best album yet! I love cowboy music and this album has so many classics.
Liked some of it but not music I would ever seek out.
Enjoyed the album. Liked the way he had a full band behind him. But it didn’t make me want to listen to it twice.
Did not enjoy this album.
Good old fashioned rock and roll. Really liked the Otis Redding song.
Hmmmm…Do I give this a 5 or a 1? On the one hand, I’m in awe of the way rappers rap. It’s so infectious. Hard to look away. But I would never choose to listen to this on my own. On the other hand, I did listen to it all the way through and felt empathetic to the feelings and messages of the songs. It was exhausting but so amazing.
What a horrible sad thing to put out into the world. Of course the last song made it almost worth the effort of suffering through this mercifully short album. It was pretty funny.
Nice listening.
Got bored halfway through.
Liked a couple of old standards but otherwise I’m not sure why this album is on the list.
Loved this album. Brought me back to last angsty days of youth before Wheels On The Bus totally took over. The music still resonates.
Such an amazing talent. Her vocal range is awesome.
I liked a few of the songs on this album. Dream Letter and Gypsy Woman were interesting. But overall, kind of meh.
It was fun listening to this album. But I remember how oversaturated the radio waves were with these pop songs. They played the same songs constantly on all the radio stations until you got tired of them. I was so happy when I discovered the Brown U station (WBRU) that played stuff you never heard on the commercial stations. This was a nice trip down memory lane.
I didn’t listen to the whole album but I was impressed with the first songs I heard I thought the Jesus song was especially moving.
I’d give this a 5+. Awesome album. Loved the rhythm and the bass all the way through.
Good background music to listen to. It felt very calming but a bit boring.
I don’t remember these guys, but I really liked this album. There music is so typical of the 60s. Loved the horns.
Nobody does it like Led Zeppelin. So much fun to listen to.
The Love album and this Cream album bring back so many memories. So much great music from the 60s.
More 60s. Nostalgic. But musically, a 4.
Meh. I don’t remember these guys. I enjoyed the first and last songs.
Wow. I had forgotten how powerful her voice was. I love these classics. This was part of the soundtrack of my early college days.
Too dark for me.
Liked zero a lot. Liked the next songs a little. I enjoyed the acoustic versions of the songs much more than the electronic versions.
Love Pink Floyd.
I’m listening to this album a day late. The big debate was last night and it was a disaster. This album feels so prescient.
Just background music. This album didn’t engage me. I’d give it a 2 or 3. Maybe a 3 because it didn’t annoy me.
Great rendition of summertime blues! Awesome guitars. Lots of electronic gimmickry going on. BTW seeing the picture of these pathetic looking old dudes on Spotify while listening to the album took some of the magic away 😂.
Great album. Reminds me of Grateful Dead. Or does Grateful Dead remind me of the Band?
I can’t look I say as I cover my eyes and peek between my fingers. That’s how I felt listening to this. Totally engrossed. Loved the horns and a lot of the humor.
Liked the acoustic sound a lot. The songs were a little weird but I enjoyed listening to them.
Weird songs made to feel like show tunes. Overall, liked it..Sorta.
What a great album. In 1955 I only heard the songs that got played on the radio. Some of these songs were new to me. I liked his version of Blue Moon. I remember sneaking into our car sometimes to listen to the radio. My mother wouldn’t let us play that “hillbilly music” in the house.
Fun album all the way through. Lots of old standards. I liked his rendition of “Losing You”.
Loved the musical transitions throughout the album.
Not a big fan of synthesized music but I did enjoy listening to this album.
Too teenage angsty.
Liked it.
