Love the three-piece sound! Bass is awesome, love the stripped back drums, and the guitar feels stripped back too but still noisy at times?? Awesome. Definitely want to revisit
My favorite Dire Straits release, love every song on here.
So excited to dig into this. I am a huge Stevie fan and somehow have heard every 70's release EXCEPT this one... so here we go!
1. I've heard Sunshine ofc, but forgot how much I love it. Saved
2. Holy shit how have I not heard this?? Incredible heavy groove love it.
3. Beautiful
4. really cool, reminds me of Bridges - come back to this
i just finished writing the rest of my notes and they didnt save:( really sad learning moment for this site, but i will push forth. Tldr i thought tracks 5 7 and 8 were just nice and the rest was outstanding. i like how Heron and Jackson collaborated to give us a good combo of synth-busy grooves and attention-grabbing lyrics, but appreciare even more now that stevie would do all of it soo well on his own. superstition was awesome to hear in context of this album instead of musiquarium which Ive been used to since i was a babie. the last two tracks were a perfect way to end the album and made me want to hit play on track one again immediately which is rare-ish. I wiuld probably rate it 9/10 but i cant figure out how to do a half star so im rounding up to 5/5 cus its well deserved.
okay i will listen to it again. i think i have heard it too much, to the point where i even gave away my TPAB vinyl to a friend - mostly because i was excited to share the experience and i thought he might appreciate it more since he had never heard it and i may have overplayed it for myself. he love it ofc so i'm glad....i might need to buy it again though we'll see.
Kendrick has caused such a shift in music and culture recently. i think it is time for me to revisit this, maybe the context will add something. I am writing this a day or two after Not Like Us won 5 grammys, and 5 days before Super Bowl LIX. Tbh i kinda wish I had gotten DAMN or good kid instead because I dont feel like I've given those proper attention. gonna try to listen to this on my headphones when I can instead of my left airpod at work.
man....I dont even have much to say. It's still a 5 of course. note to self: don't go that long without relistening to this again. It's such a dense record, always something new you can find. Maybe show it to your dad or something
didnt expect this one. this is the one with no bass right? thats why i was turned off from it before i think. tried it a couple times but it hasnt stuck yet. Excited to try it again though
I liked it more than I expected. Mix is flat and its a little long, but got great riffs and chugs and i like the compositions.
This one is not my favorite of Michael's, I even like Dangerous more than this one I think. But it's still got a few great tracks, especially Another Part Of Me. Less likely to revisit this album compared to his others, but still enjoyable. 3/5
For whatever reason, I am rarely drawn to listening to grunge. But then whenever I do, I'm blown away. I really enjoy it in the moment, but then for whatever reason I don't come back to it for a long time. This album is having that same impact on me as Superunknown did. Gonna give this a 4 so I will remember to come back to it.
I love the riffs and song arrangements. This is probably as good a time as any during this project to say I dont listen to lyrics as closely as I should. The lyrics have to really strike a specific way to take the forefront in my listening - otherwise I am always focused on the music/melodies/grooves/rhythms first and foremost. I like the music on this album a lot, and I dont find the lyrics distracting lol. i will probably listen more in the future and have more to say
LETS GOOO!
I just saw someone else got this one yesterday and I remembered how much I liked the title track. I haven't heard the rest and was thinking I should listen to it anyway. Very excited
Alright I really like this! It was mostly just a really cool album to hear. I love the keyboard and guitar especially. I like it definitely had a biig influence on a lot of the music that I love, but might not have been something I would hear if not for this site. I was tempted to rate it 4 stars just cus it was really cool to hear, but i dont really see myself coming back to it. thats the only reason it gets a 3. if i do come back to it I will bump it to 4 stars
haha ive listened to it again twice. I would give it 3.5 if i could so i will rate it 4
I expected to not really care about this one, and that ended up being the case for a lot of it - mostly in the first half. The guitar solos were what stood out to me the most, other than that I don't care for the hits and the rest didn't stand out much either. It just really seemed to drag. Thought I would have my first 2-star
BUT something about the 2nd half of this album really seemed to pick up, and I was really enjoying it by the end. Just fun songs. I would probably even grab a vinyl copy so i can just play side B. I really liked it. And it does make me want to go back and see if I missed something in the first half. We'll see, but for now I am rating 3 stars.
Alright I am starting my 2nd listen through now. Something I was thinking about regarding Gimme All Your Lovin: I'm gen z so this always just sounded like one of the bad-to-the-bone type songs/bands that were overplayed in movies. That was my impression going into this album. But if I close my eyes and place myself in 1983, 15-or-so years old, just picked up this cool car record the day it came out with no clue what its gonna sound like, brought it home after school and put it on my speakers - this song is pretty sweet. Track 2 sounds better to my ears now too.
I think my knee jerk reaction was bias from the overplayed tracks. Forgetting that helps me understand the hype.
Never heard of this one! Cool
yeah I didnt love it. There were definitely some cool things about it. But it was kinda like that Geordie Greep album if it was boring. Or maybe not boring, just less inspired by the music I love. I was excited when their bio mentioned ELO , but this seems to lack a lot of the life and groove that I love from ELO. This feels a lot more showtune-y, which I don't hate but I am not really interested. I love musicals and have played in several pit orchestras, but I guess I dont really like when regular music tries to sound like broadway music lol. There were interesting moments for sure, mainly in the chords and melodies that I liked, but overall I really dont feel like listening to it again.
LETS GOOO
I love the band but i have Not listened to them enough. I didn't expect this one but I'm looking forward to it
Enjoyed it quite a bit! love Up On Cripple Creek
oooooh awesome!! I love A Minha Menina but I havent heard the rest yet.
loved ittt! Right up my alley for late 60s psych🔥
Oh I know this one 🔥
I think it will be a 4. its probably a 7.5 for me. First half is much stronger than the 2nd half I think.
i think i gotta put it at a three. Lots of moments I love but i think there are 4 or 5 other Rush albums i would revisit before this one.
probably my fav sonic youth so good
love this one a lot, favs are thrasher and powderfinger. Welfare Mothers and Sedan Delivery are the weaker point of the album for me but still rock.
nice, I've listened to this a little bit but wanted to spend more time with it.
such a cool album, i love just letting myself sink into it. it's probably an 8.5 or 9 out of 10, so i will give it 4 stars
damn this is some hot garbage
jk i appreciate what it is but I'm definitely not understanding it fully, just not for me i think. I would prefer to hear the original compositions. I think because I enjoyed it much less than the only album I've given 2 stars so far, I gotta put it at 1 star.
I definitely dont feel like this was an albim I needed to hear before I die. Points for being something I never would have listened to otherwise though.
YESSS
I just listened to this full album for the first time last week, and have had Thinking of You on repeat for a good month or so now. Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards are such a good combo i never get tired of.
Love almost every song here. 4 stars
bet. i've listened to this once and definitely felt like i needed to give it a closer listen.
Awesome. I liked it a lot this time around.
I was kinda enjoying it for a while! I didn't love his voice and lyrics were okay, but I liked some of the interplay within the instruments, the noisy guitar solos, the hits are fine but some of the deeper cuts like Manhattan were cool. Then 17 came on....thats the kind of song that will instantly dock the album at least a star for me.
THIS IS SO GOOD!! Listened to it a bunch today. i'm sure there are a number of albums that would have been the one to get me into blues, but this is the first one I got from the generator. I've always meant to listen to more blues, just never got to it. I hope there are more albums like this on the list - more blues yes, but also just more for me to discover
i liked this more than i expected! has a really cool hazy sound that i like
Really awesome groovy funky rock album with great instrumental tracks. Its too bad they let that minecraft villager into the studio to scream about cheating on his partner. I am going to pretend its a Chuck Rainey album and bump it up to 3 stars.
This album gives me such a sense of mystery. Its one of those that is so layered and different that I want so badly to understand it. I swear it sounds different every time I hear it. Its just SO cool, and I'm so intrugued by it - like I don't quite get it and I want to keep listening it until I do.

good oneee i always kinda forget how much i like it
I hadn't heard this one! I like it a lot so far.
Nick Cave is something I find hard to get myself to listen to sometimes. I got Murder Ballads on this list a couple weeks ago and skipped it, even though I own the vinyl. But there is just so much thats cool about his music. And this album feels different somehow from the other albums I've heard. Something about it feels more palatable even when I wasn't sure I was in the mood to listen to Nick Cave.
I really like how the band's music is perfect for each song, but even though its SO cool, it has a way of almost forcing you to pay attention to Cave's lyrics. I kinda divided the two halves of the album up thoughiut my day and really liked it
am i really about to rate this 5 atars? its definitely a 9/10, probably top 3 from the residents. i love them so much. i like weird music already, but something about the residents sound is different and more...warm? Like they're rarely super abrasive. the most "abrasive" one would probably be the executioner. but yeah its definitely weird tonally, lyrically, vocally, and sonically, but also warm sonically. more creepy than noisy and im here for it
I liked it, Its probably a 7/10. Its just a little long but i like the vibe a lot and its got some great songs
I think I enjoyed Funhouse more but this ones still awesome
really cool, love the synths. I think its 7/10 but I'm going to give it 4 stars so I remember to come back to it
its a 5/10 for me, liked some of it and not others. got old after a while, maybe a little too long
idk i think I need to come back to this one, but it's never grabbed me like his others
this was cool, it reminded me of when i was like 9 and figured out i could download the soundtrack from my dad's Age of Empires game disk and listen to it on my ipod shuffle. add some crazy industrial beats noisy guitars and scary vocals , even better. 6.5/10
so cool, definitely come back to this. i feel like it combines things I like about Boards of Canada and Shpongle
To me this is a perfect P-Funk album. Others have amazing highs mixed with some lows, but this one doesn't have a weak moment. Bootsy is especially on and prominent in the mix which I also love
think I want to come back to this. Love the grooves, had to warm up to the vocals but they grew on me i think
come back to with better headphones
ok overally but i really liked I Sang Dixie
Always had this on my list but wasn't sure if I would like it or not based on the little bit I had heard. I'm so glad I listened to the whole thing, so cool. For a live album, this one felt especially immersive and I felt like I was there in the room - I'm sure for anyone who was actually there for this show it was even more mind blowing
