A true classic! Johnny Cash was one hell of a man! He was my father’s favourite. If he was home, which wasn’t often due to his worklife, we would listen to this together. My father passed away when I was very young, so this album was quite nostalgic for me in a way. Rest in Peace Dad! And Mr. Cash as well!
Not usually my scene, but the album title is spot on! I can see why Lorde is popular with her fans
5 Stars for Hurt. There’s actually a few songs I wasn’t familiar with. A great final album for a great man! Rest in Peace Mr Cash
I’m actually not familiar with Tom Waits. Not a fan at all so far… So I understand when someone has a growly voice. What I don’t understand is why one would take up singing. Anytime Waits started yelling lyrics I couldn’t understand what he was saying. The last two songs weren’t so bad IMO. There weren’t many times he tried yelling. Every other song was grating to me though. There were times I had to lower the volume. Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’ comes to mind. Spectacular lyrics, but he also never tries yelling anything in that song. He keeps it nice and steady. Doesn’t go overboard. If there’s more albums by Waits on this list, then I hope they are easier to listen to for me…
Was an interesting listen. Kind of all over the place. The song Tarkus obviously being the main attraction. Badass cover art! Armoured Armadillo would be proud
I was digging it for the first couple songs. Then I realized the songs all sound the same…
