Silver Raven, Strength of String, Some Misunderstanding, True One are my too songs. In the bottom are From a Silver Phial and Lady of the North. The first doesn’t particularly have an “it” factor for me. nice western/country/rock/ body of work. Great songwriting with hope and full of soul. Even the songs I didn’t care for were still great songs.
The are popular for a reason, all were my tops songs off the album: The End, Light my Fire and Break on Through.
Kinda spooky. Can’t imagine hearing this body of work when it came out for the first time. Could be fun at times, but also is quite dark, brilliant song writing sprinkled in.
When I picture “Masculine Rock,” this is what I envision. It was fun and explosive, and the song blended into one another quite well. Sheik blew me away, it stood out among the rest.
I loved this album! I want to spend more time with this one for sure. For an alt rock album it was quite chill? Each song was cohesive but so unique without sounding all the same.
Band was in full swing, but I found the album a little plain. Boy was he sad.
This was a really great live album. It is electric and full of The Who’s kooky personality as a band. The 8-minute rock opera was just sensational. They are simply a British folk band with the biggest speakers and electric guitars.
Really enjoyed this one and it’s dark synth-alt pop makeup. Sub-culture was my top track which was followed by face-up, my least favorite track. The lyricism and poignant themes stuck out to me the most and connected me with album.
Though I deeply respect what they are trying to do I did not care for this album.
Fun album, but I was surprised for how dated some of the songs sounded in this listen. I listened to this as a kid a lot and obviously that is something I never picked up on. Dirty Diana is by far my top Michael Jackson song ever and I wish more of the album had this sound.
I loved this album! I’m glad to have it on my radar and I think it is such an important listen in the current political climate. The themes of the album with the playful manner they were handled were outstanding.
This album was fine? It had some fun songs, but I think I would die happy without having heard it.
This album sounds like George was just writing songs for his fave artists and then performing them.
This felt like rock jazz, it was cool but also intolerable.
I feel like the more you listen to this the better it will get—I also think if some of these songs were released as steely dan I would love them, so I will rate this with that in mind
Excellent album, with some of the best christmas bangers ever!
A lot of great songs on here, but the composition overall takes the cake of what makes it special and really stuck out to me. Still had a couple skips.
one note, but I enjoy it a lot, especially the drums!
Fine, just nothing that truly sucked me in.
I had a lot of fun with this, I like punk that’s fun and not torture; i.e. public image
This is the best album i’ve ever heard, can’t believe I only knew Once in a Lifetime. David Byrne invented music and I stand by that
By far one of the most interesting sounding albums I’ve heard in my life. The entire album is full of musical easter eggs; I will be tuning into to this body of work for the rest of my life.
This was the first female album I got! It was great tk listen to something new, and unique.
This album was actually excellent; yt men serving a lot of cunt for the sake or art.
this gives ANTM photoshoot music and i kinda love that.
Fun! I love how it is based in a nyc hip hop sound, despite fat bot slim being British. Really enjoyed you are not from Brighton.
This one snuck up on me and I loved it! It was a really fun and unique take on hip hop that is the precursor to some amazing 20-teen hip hop fusion that I personally adore!
not my fave band, but I did enjoy this album, a little repetitive at times and could be boring.
At first I thought why is this essential, and then then as the album I realized why. Regge punk is so cool and I had no idea it existed (probs for a rzn that is racism) but if this cane out today pitchfork would be ALL OVER IT. Def ahead of it’s time. Loved secret 77 the best.
Love a short album. In another world Frank Zappa plays dr. frankenfuter in rocky horror
he does not need to be here twice. No other was better. He didn’t grow as an artist to me, he kept at the same thing without diverging. Did not enjoy the daughter song, gave me the creeps! Let daughters be angry honestly!!
somber and filled to the brim with lyrics. the instrumental composition was so alluring and it kept me in it, even when every song was about that one woman whose body was tea, but he couldn’t love her.
super sexist at times, but super interesting sounds behind the rapping itself. I appreciate the way it committed to the bit like nobody’s buiz.
looking between the sexism, homophobia and violence this album is quite good. A most fantastic writer!!! Do think he may have killed someone or is gay and dealing with a lot of internal homophobia. Beyond that there were interesting beats and the sound effects were a fun touch that kept me in songs when they got too wordy.
At time the vocals tested me.
Liked this one more than I thought!
not sure what genre this is, but i found it interesting.
I loved this album, classic punk that makes you think maybe communism would work, far too long but enjoyable!
Lot’s of different tones—not one note as I thought it would be.
Not even close to their best album, but leads shows the blueprint of their musical growth and how far rock transforms through them as a band.
Everything about this album drew me in. Each song was just as memorable as the last. The kind of record you want to start from the too once you finished.
I love that i have no clue what genre this is. I have never heard a more creative expression of music that never takes itself so seriously. Only one track I didn’t care and it is just because it wasn’t as creative as the rest, but still objectively good.
pretty cool! a little long
