4.5 - super cool album, favorite is by far “I Want You” - new appreciation for all the styles that the Beatles had. Each track had me wondering what the next would sound like. Loved the B side.
3/5 - RHCP just not for me, I like their popular stuff but not everything
So cool. Hard to put a genre on this one, could hear a singer on a cruise ship hitting a bunch of the early stuff. Son of a preacher man is of course a banger. Some cool stuff on the second half of the album. Windmills of Your Mind a sneaky good song
Crazy. Didn't get a full listen to each track, but what a legend. Long ass album, great to have on in the clinic.
What a banger album! One after the other, how do you pick a winner? I'm biased but this will be a 5/5 for me
4.5/5. Another crazy album! Clearly influenced or influencers. Beatles influenced heavily initially. Octavarium by DT in there somewhere. It’s so original yet so familiar. Loved Touch Sensitive, but then No Sympathy blew me away - Bon Jovi into Battles. And then run, Christian run stole the show. Super cool album.
Craaaazy album. Tour of west africa, south america, central america. hilarious DJ interludes, I enjoyed. Fav is between Punk It Up and Jive my Baby, the latter probably just beating it out. 4/5.
I mean, an unreal album, really. Such a quintessential oasis sound, with a couple of well known bangers. Brit-pop at its finest. How can you not pick wonderwall as your top pick? You can, you pick Champagne Supernova. 4.5/5 album, brilliant.
Trippy. Super folksy, some eastern influence in Once I Had a Sweetheart, but otherwise didn't really enjoy. Hated Lyke-Wake, a lot of them were way too folky, 2/5.
Cool! Good exposure to blonde, one way or another I knew, the others I didn’t. Feels classic but also fresh like they were on the frontiers of new wave with synthesizer use. Fade Away and Radiate - super cool, could be a Queen song with a Police outro. Pretty Baby - wow! Oldies vibe with some proggy chord progressions to place it in the 70s. Fun. I know but I don’t know, Yes proggyness, with Sex Pistols vocals and composure. 11:59 the smiths! Will anything happen, post-punk fun. Sunday girl ABBA. The pinnacle with Heart of Glass - just sounds like Blondie cause it is. I’m gonna love you too very themesong-ey, finishing up with a pop punk new wave closer. 4.5/5
Old school jazz. The first song feels like a test, constant change in tempo and speed, gotta be patient. Last one was my fav, but not too much to tell them apart. Enjoyed!
Cool album. Anchored by sweet dreams, but some dreamy poppy floaty stuff. 3.5/5
Post-hardcore. Feels like something you’d hear in Tony Hawk Proskater 4. Post-hardcore, punk, whatever you’d call it. Underground, small dark gigs, wet, smoky, grungy. Never heard of them before, but an interesting listen! 3/5
Folk punk, maritime rock, some interesting vibes here. Definitely feels folksy, maritime pub rock. “Country” probably the pick of the lot, but an album that definitely grew on me as I went along. 3/5.
Great album. A couple of classics, a couple of covers. Has that oldy, warm, comforting voice, the compositions are soft, ballady. You've Got A Friend takes the cake for me. 4/5!
Dang theres some funky stuff in here! Loved the opening track, then got treated to some old school grooves, felt like i was listening to a sample database, funky hip hop grooves, with lots of soul and attitude. impossible not to dance and bob the head. Holdin' on had a cool feel to it, then african dance was a vibing track, really impressive flute. Same beat into dance, with some cool narration. Feel free! What a banger. STANK FACE from the bass on Happiness Dub. But then ewwwww Back To Life. Banger album all around! 4.5/5
Yeeeeesh. Stank face went on early and never really went anywhere. The 60s? Really? Walk On By is sooooo good, how have I never heard this? I guess I recognize a lot from being sampled in other tunes. Soulful suspension in time listening to hyperbolic, groovy. Walk on By has to be the track, 4/5.
Talk about a library of killer electronic tracks. Something for everyone in here, definitely recognized a few. A great thing to put on when you're getting stuff done, chores and outdoor work. Thoroughly enjoyed, Porcelin probably my favorite. 4/5!
Cooooool new wave stuff. Drops of Bowie, the Cure, the Smiths, the Doors, the Clash. Each track pretty different, haunting vocals, lots of different sounds and instruments and styles, sounds like the alternative 80s. The Cutter probably the best example, most accessible, but I enjoyed the journey that the title track takes you on. More experimental, psychedelic, western, eastern, marauding yet in no rush to go anywhere. Cool track. And then Heads will roll! So freaking cool sounding song. Ripeness feels like The Clash. The Doors run through the whole thing. Looooove the intro to Higher Hell, a beautiful but gloomy track adorned by flashes of instrumental color, fills, riffs, etc. which builds and builds into overlapping waves of vocals. Gods will be Gods - driving, cool acoustic strumming bits, speeding up as it goes along until the climax, then a slow descent, building back up. Fun. All ends with Fuel, a dreamy, spacey but murky and vibey track like walking through a decommissioned underwater amusement park. Overall loved the album, 4.5/5! How to pick a favorite? Gonna go with Fuel.
okay, enjoyed this more than i thought i would. still not my style, at all. folky, country, beautiful harmonies. Dolly and crew have really great voices. i dont love the sound of the songs, or the content. Telling Me Lies if I had to pick one out. 2.5/5!
Really cool find here. Don’t know much about these guys but I think there’s something for everyone here. Singer/songwriter vibe, lots of acoustic guitar, some other string accompaniment. Pleasant! Pull Together is the fave - 4/5
Really enjoying the vibe. Song 2 is the well known one, but some good sounds, a little Oasis/U2-ey. Really unique sound, think I enjoyed Death of a Party the most. 3.5/5.
Cool. Haunting vocals, hypnotizing guitar, singer songwriting at its finest. interesting compositions, vocals, all songs pretty different. Not a whole lot separating them for me, suppose famous blue raincoat takes it. 3/5.
Here we go! Looking at the tracklist, lots I didn’t recognize, and makes sense. Few non-traditional non-radio songs in here, quite a diverse offering. Epic intro with some smooth transitions making it feel like a rock opera, You’re My Best Friend highlights the opening half. Sweet Lady was a pleasant surprise, heavier, 3/4 time with some buildup points and speedy parts. Seaside Rendezvous felt very queen, very theatrical, silly, colourful and bouncy. Prophet’s Song - cool, still very theatrical/musical, but a darker scene and conflict. Middle echoey call/return bit was a bit offputting, but enjoyed the ending. Love of my Life - enjoyed it even more in the context of the album, beautiful song, my pick of the lot. Good Company - cool sounds, ukelele, guitar, SpongeBob intro song vibes, surprising fun find. We all know what happens next, what more needs to be said? Can’t not put this as the best. 3.5/5
