1001 Albums Summary

I get why my dad loves Springsteen. If I were in my teens listening to this I'd be like wow, this really gets my teenage urge to get out of this place. Says "little girl" just a few too many times

I like this so much more than Aja. Aja is like a 3.5 and this is a 4.5

Look, it's a vibe. Maybe everyone else has a different rating scale than I do but I fuck heavy with a vibe album. Someone else mentioned Air, I'd toss Panda Bear in as well. Something I can put on, lay back, and enjoy in a hammock

Have never heard this band before, but will check out their other stuff. Generally enjoy the southwestern vibes and bits of mariachi in there. Unexpectedly good

I have no idea if this was musically a huge deal when it came out or I'm lacking in musical knowledge to appreciate this, but ultimately to me it ends up feeling generic. Not something I would ever go out of my way to listen to and, for having come out more recently than some of these other albums, still manages to sound more dated.

Well... It's got all the hallmarks of something I'd really love, folk songs, guitar, etc, but something about it just isn't clicking, which is disappointing. I like it. I don't love it. But I really like it.

Started out very strong for me, but towards the end felt a little samey even though I know there was variation in there

I'm only giving this a 2 because I don't care about the style, but I absolutely understand why they invented Guitar Hero and Bill & Ted now.

I never really listened to REM. I have no idea, especially considering they did that Muppets collab. This is great!

Proud of these young men for standing up against drugs like weed and dope. Honestly, starts out crazy strong and doesn't get especially weak (maybe lyrically tired), but also doesn't get as good as those first tracks again.

I don't know if it was the mastering on the version I was listening to or what, but it felt like it should have been much more dynamic than it was. I'll revisit this with a different version in the future, but aside from a few highlights this wasn't doing it for me

Musically I think this is fine, but I'll easily admit he's getting an extra star purely because I find the album endearing and because he did The Point.

Crazy hearing in a single album some tracks that feel very modern and some that feel extremely dated. At the same time, I've heard good things about Confessions II, so maybe this gets me to look into her catalog.
