Thriller by Michael Jackson

Look, there's a reason he still has defenders.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 23 2026

I get why my dad loves Springsteen. If I were in my teens listening to this I'd be like wow, this really gets my teenage urge to get out of this place. Says "little girl" just a few too many times

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jun 25 2026

I like this so much more than Aja. Aja is like a 3.5 and this is a 4.5

Aja by Steely Dan
Jun 29 2026
Sea Change by Beck
Jun 30 2026

Look, it's a vibe. Maybe everyone else has a different rating scale than I do but I fuck heavy with a vibe album. Someone else mentioned Air, I'd toss Panda Bear in as well. Something I can put on, lay back, and enjoy in a hammock

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jul 01 2026

Nearly 30 years since, still a banger.

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Jul 02 2026

Have never heard this band before, but will check out their other stuff. Generally enjoy the southwestern vibes and bits of mariachi in there. Unexpectedly good

I have no idea if this was musically a huge deal when it came out or I'm lacking in musical knowledge to appreciate this, but ultimately to me it ends up feeling generic. Not something I would ever go out of my way to listen to and, for having come out more recently than some of these other albums, still manages to sound more dated.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jul 05 2026

Well... It's got all the hallmarks of something I'd really love, folk songs, guitar, etc, but something about it just isn't clicking, which is disappointing. I like it. I don't love it. But I really like it.

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Jul 06 2026

This is the most British thing I've ever heard.

En-Tact by The Shamen
Jul 09 2026

I really wish I had been listening to this somewhere cool and genre appropriate vs outside in the sun

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jul 11 2026

I don't know if I needed to listen to this before I die, but it's up my alley

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Jul 13 2026

Maybe I need to relisten to this sometime because right now I super don't care about this album?

The Dreaming by Kate Bush
Jul 15 2026

This woman is unhinged and I'm here for it.

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jul 16 2026

Look, there's a reason he still has defenders.

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Jul 17 2026

Fun album to listen to. I enjoyed it but probably won't revisit it

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Jul 18 2026

This is probably an objective five star, but it's not what I gravitate to.

Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves
Jul 19 2026

Started out very strong for me, but towards the end felt a little samey even though I know there was variation in there

Jul 20 2026

I'm only giving this a 2 because I don't care about the style, but I absolutely understand why they invented Guitar Hero and Bill & Ted now.

Green by R.E.M.
Jul 22 2026

I never really listened to REM. I have no idea, especially considering they did that Muppets collab. This is great!

Jul 23 2026

Proud of these young men for standing up against drugs like weed and dope. Honestly, starts out crazy strong and doesn't get especially weak (maybe lyrically tired), but also doesn't get as good as those first tracks again.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Jul 24 2026

I don't know if it was the mastering on the version I was listening to or what, but it felt like it should have been much more dynamic than it was. I'll revisit this with a different version in the future, but aside from a few highlights this wasn't doing it for me

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Jul 25 2026

Musically I think this is fine, but I'll easily admit he's getting an extra star purely because I find the album endearing and because he did The Point.

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Jul 26 2026

Crazy hearing in a single album some tracks that feel very modern and some that feel extremely dated. At the same time, I've heard good things about Confessions II, so maybe this gets me to look into her catalog.

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Jul 27 2026

The psychedelic/folk vibe really gets me, plus all the folklore references. Very cool!

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jul 29 2026

The longer I listen to this album, the more I like it. Just over a half hour and it doesn't feel like any song outstays its welcome. Okay, I don't love the organ generally, but I'll give it a pass here.

Odessa by Bee Gees
Jul 30 2026

Probably like a 3.5. I liked the initial listen, but maybe it was just because I was caught off guard since my experience of the Bee Gees is pretty much purely their disco era

Mask by Bauhaus
Jul 31 2026

Like the funky parts, but ultimately the goth vibes/goh "voice" don't super do it for me.

1989 by Taylor Swift
Aug 02 2026

I'm not proud of it, but it is what is is.

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
Aug 03 2026

Possibly because of what I've been listening to recently, but for me the top track was the long acoustic one at the end.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Aug 04 2026

A lot of bangers here, some tracks I was familiar with but didn't realize were from this album. I think when this came out I'd consider it a 5/5, but it's still great. It's wild listening to this when The Mountain came out this year and, while not AOTY by any stretch, I would still consider it a heavy hitter and worth mentioning. There's a thread connecting them, but the evolution is nuts

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Aug 07 2026

If this were my kind of music, I'd like it. But it's not. :(

Queen II by Queen
Aug 08 2026

Maybe I was distracted, but while a good album, it's not something I see myself revisiting

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Aug 09 2026

Hey, it's fun!

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Aug 10 2026

Started out strong and fizzled a bit for me. Just not a fan of the instruments

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Aug 13 2026

Short, great, massively outsized impact for how long Buddy Holly was actively making music.

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Aug 14 2026

This is the kind of album that should be right up my alley. Feels like the kind of experimentation that was much more interesting and alluring at the time of its release, but at this point feels like experimentation for the sake of it when it might have been better to be more restrained
