Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Jul 14 2026

Awesome start for me! Obviously Psycho Killer stands out but what a great album overall!

Arrival by ABBA
Jul 15 2026

Fun! Has to get at least 3 stars just for Dancing Queen :) Some good dance-y songs; some questionable lyrics...but still very easy to listen to!

Bad by Michael Jackson
Jul 16 2026

Just going to give this a 3, say I get why it's on the list, and move on...

Ramones by Ramones
Jul 17 2026

A quick listen; kind of like one long song, but it's a good song! I only knew Blitzkrieg Bop previously, but the whole thing was fun to listen to. Will probably listen again.

Jul 18 2026

I'm sure I've listened to this one in full at some point in the past, but it's been a while since I've heard anything other than "Fairytale of New York". Definitely danced around the house listening to it :) Being raised partly on Irish folk music I really can't give it less than a 4. Nostalgia maybe playing into it a bit, but who cares!

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Jul 19 2026

The first one that I had heard none of before this project, and probably never would have tried otherwise (purely instrumental albums are definitely not my thing). I know nothing about jazz, but I had a good time just taking it in! Not really for me but I appreciate the talent :)

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Jul 20 2026

The funniest possible follow up to yesterday's album for me - from 6 tracks 1h 34 minutes, to 14 tracks 15 minutes! Listened to this several times because why not? Probably won't come back to it, but a good time anyway. Can definitely hear the influence they've had on some other bands I've listened to, which is cool.

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Jul 21 2026

I laughed at how far I had to scroll down through the discography to get to this on streaming, lol. Nice enough to listen to; I'm familiar with a few of the songs at least, and I like those... Another one I probably won't go back to personally, but I get why it's on the list.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jul 22 2026

Exciting! This was a band I had been meaning to get more familiar with anyway. Already knew a few of the songs here (Do it Again, Dirty Work, Reelin in the Years), so those stand out for sure. The rest are good as well, although I did start to get a little bored towards the last couple of tracks, so can't give it a full 5. Look forward to listening to more of them though.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Jul 23 2026

Another one that I definitely wouldn't have heard if not for this project, and not what I was expecting. Really interesting to listen to, though I doubt I'll come back to it.

A Northern Soul by The Verve
Jul 24 2026

Haven't listened to this before, although I've listened to their album Urban Hymns and remember liking it a lot . . . Kind of surprised this one is on the list; it's fine, but I don't think it was particularly influencial??

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jul 25 2026

I know and love a few songs from The Cure, but haven't really gone into their discography much... This one is not so much my thing, unfortunately. Really like a few of the songs, but the rest feels a bit too ambient, if that's the right word to use. I think I'll enjoy some of their later albums a lot more.

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Jul 26 2026

Hadn't heard of this one before listening, and had a great time with it! Not sure what to say about it other than "good vibes." 😊

Jul 27 2026

Another one I hadn't heard of before, but that I mostly enjoyed. Anything with sci-fi vibes will usually get me, and a lot of the lyrics are (sadly) still very relevant. May not listen again, but I'm glad I did at least once.

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jul 28 2026

Another one I never would have heard otherwise. I was surprised this was released in 2002, as it sounds very early 90s to me; but that's not really a bad thing. Really enjoyed a few of the songs, especially "What's Golden", though I probably won't listen to the whole album again.

Electric by The Cult
Jul 29 2026

I was expecting this to be heavier for some reason, but happy it's not. I heard a lot of 80s rock growing up, so this was fun and a bit nostalgic for me. Will probably go listen to some of their other albums now, so it gets an extra star.

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jul 30 2026

Yes, I got a little high before listening to this one, but that's the case for several albums here so far... Honestly I'm not too familiar with reggae other than a couple of Bob Marley songs, but I did enjoy a lot of the songs here. Great for a chill evening at home :)

With The Beatles by Beatles
Jul 31 2026

Not one of my favorite Beatles albums, but I assume I have others to come in this project. I'm actually doing a little project making a Beatles "best of" playlist for myself. The only songs from this album I had added previously were "All My Loving" and "You Really Got A Hold On Me". Listening this time, I really noticed how good John Lennon's voice sounds on "All I've Got To Do," so I added that one too :) I probably won't come back to most of the covers, but it was nice enough listening to it again.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Aug 01 2026

I like the White Stripes a lot, but I wasn't super familiar with this album, other than "My Doorbell". A bit of a mix for me - some songs I added to playlists but also a few skips.

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Aug 02 2026

The second Steely Dan album for me, and chronologically, which is nice. To be honest, this one makes me want to go back to the first album and make sure I actually did like it that much. . . I didn't particularly dislike anything here, but nothing really grabbed me (except maybe hearing steel guitar, which I always love). Can't give it less than 3 because I don't think there's anything bad about it; I was just a bit bored.

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Aug 03 2026

Hadn't listened to this before other than the title track; not really surprised to find the rest of the album is pretty much 10 more "Highway to Hell"s, lol. Fine, but I'll probably just go with the hits if I want to listen to them.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Aug 04 2026

I think I said something similar about the Frank Sinatra album, but this was pleasant enough to listen to. Not something I'm likely to come back to, but I did genuinely laugh out loud at "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead." I need a rock cover of that song to exist.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Aug 05 2026

Beastie Boys are a group I always figured I'd like if I actually took the time to listen. I started out on a bit of a roller coaster with this one though . . . I was into the first track, and then the next two made me want to hit skip 😅 But then we started going back up, to the peak of Sabotage. Anyway, nothing I really disliked after that, although I was surprised there were multiple instrumental tracks. I debated giving it a 3, but I think the highs are high enough for a 4. Also, did Beastie Boys come up with deez nuts?

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Aug 06 2026

While I like this challenge as a way to check out older albums I would have completely missed otherwise, I was so happy to get something more modern today 😂 Doubly excited because I remember listening to Dirty Computer a few years ago and really liking it. Now I wish I had listened to all her stuff then, because this was excellent! Pretty much everything about this album is up my alley; from the sci-fi vibes to the Of Montreal feature:) Come Alive got added to my playlist within the first 30 seconds and just got better from there!

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Aug 07 2026

I pretty much only know the hits when it comes to Led Zeppelin, so I think I'd only heard Kashmir before here. Not a lot to say really... It's great, Kashmir is an all-time song; though a few others on here I could do without. So not quite a 5 star, but I look forward to getting some of their other albums here.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Aug 08 2026

I'll be honest, it was a little depressing listening to this in 2026 when things don't seem much different... Can't deny the music is great though, even if I don't come back to it much personally.

Yeezus by Kanye West
Aug 09 2026

No thanks, not even interested in pirating this

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Aug 10 2026

Yay, nostalgia time! Haha, my mom is a huge Bon Jovi fan so I was pretty much raised on this one... It's been many years since I've listened to the whole thing though. Are a lot of the lyrics cheesy and generic? Absolutely, but the delivery is perfect to me. I was laughing at "Wanted Dead or Alive" while singing along wholeheartedly :) I don't like every song, and I was fine with having forgotten about a couple, but still very happy to see this on the list.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Aug 11 2026

The generator gave me 3 days between Led Zeppelin albums, lol. I'm still figuring out what to say in these reviews - I mostly just know what I like and often can't explain why. Tried something different this time, so here are some thoughts on listening to this for the first (and second) time while a little high 🙃 - I resent Marvel a bit for making me think of Thor every time I hear "Immigrant Song" - I enjoyed "Since I've Been Loving You" more and more the longer it went on. - I like how much of a folky vibe is in a lot of these songs - For some reason "Celebration Day" kind of just passed me by both times - it's fine I think? - Tangerine is great, almost psychedelic? - I like whatever guitar (and mandolin?) stuff is happening in "That's The Way" - I think I definitely like folky Zeppelin better than full hard rock Zeppelin, but a mixture of both is good. I'm going to pretend the last track is a bonus or something, since it's the only one I would skip.

Aug 12 2026

Going to find this on streaming made me realize how many albums Bob Dylan has (Wikipedia says 40 studio albums, plus live albums, compilations, etc.) 😅 I may never get to all of them, but I assume there'll be a couple more to come here. I know so many of these songs as classics already though; crazy that it was only his second album! This is my second 5 star in a row, and weirdly enough the second where I'm ignoring the final track in that rating.

Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Aug 13 2026

This one is strange for me ... I've liked the song "Two Weeks" casually for years, and I'm pretty sure I listened to the album in the past, but don't really remember what I thought at the time. I think my expectations were maybe too high going in this time, because I found myself a bit bored. I don't dislike anything in particular about it; I was just hoping for more like "Two Weeks," I guess.

Aug 14 2026

I was thinking I might be too generous with my ratings so far, so the generator said here's "The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators"! Actually I started off thinking it was fine, but by the time I got to Monkey Island I was just waiting for it to be done... I should really read the Wikipedia summary first, because I didn't know until after listening that the weird sound throughout was an electric jug! I did listen a second time, and I assume it must take crazy skill to play the jug like that. It almost made me add a star, but I'm just not a fan.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Aug 15 2026

Yay, something I already know and love! It's been a while since I listened though, so I'm glad for the excuse 🙂 Beautiful, calming, makes me want to go for a walk in the woods.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Aug 16 2026

I've tried to get in to the Cocteau Twins before, though not with this album. . . I'm mostly a lyrics-forward listener, so although the music is good and her voice is beautiful, I find it hard to stay engaged when there are no decipherable lyrics. That said, I love the overall vibe of this album too much to give it a bad score, even if I probably won't come back to it personally.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Aug 17 2026

I think I may not have ever listened to the full original version of "One Way or Another"??? I thought I knew the song but when the guitar solo came in I was so confused...Maybe it's been a while since hearing it outside a commercial 😅 Anyway, loved listening to this! I love "Fade Away and Radiate' - immediately added to my library. And Heart of Glass is a banger of course...I don't think there's anything I would call a skip on here! Also as a big pop-punk/emo enjoyer, it's cool to hear what a huge influence they obviously were for Paramore / Hayley Williams. Happy to finally get into this band!

Aug 18 2026

I'm not very far in to this project yet, but I already know Jazz is not my thing, unfortunately. This was fine to listen to in the background; just doesn't do anything for me...

Parachutes by Coldplay
Aug 19 2026

Trying a different way of doing this... Listened before? Yes, many times Thoughts: I haven't followed Coldplay much in the past decade or so, but I've always liked their first few albums. This one is maybe not my favorite, but it's an excellent debut album. I had forgotten how much I liked some of these songs, actually; especially Sparks and Everything's Not Lost. Favorite track(s): Sparks, Yellow, Everything's Not Lost Least favorite: Spies (don't hate it, but it could be skipped and I wouldn't notice)

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 20 2026

Listened before? No Familiar with the artist? Yes (I at least know "Red Right Hand" and a couple other songs) Thoughts: This is definitely an album that I would need more time with to fully appreciate, but on these first couple of listens it's beautiful, and a less difficult listen than I thought it might be given the subject matter. Favorite track(s): Bright Horses, Galleon Ship Least favorite: I don't dislike it but I'd have a difficult time listening to "Hollywood" again.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Aug 21 2026

Listened before? Not the full album Familiar with the artist? Yes, have heard the hits a million times on the radio Thoughts: Ehh... Musically I get why it's here, but it doesn't do anything for me, especially lyrically. Other than adding the big singles to an 80s playlist I doubt I'll ever listen again. Favorite track(s): Sweet Child of Mine Least favorite: honestly everything beyond the 3 big hits just kind of blends together.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Aug 22 2026

Listened before? No Familiar with the artist? Yes, only what I've heard on the radio, but I like everything I've heard. Thoughts: Don't have a lot to say honestly; this is the definition of a "solid" album to me, but not really that exciting. Knowing some of his hits, I think I'd enjoy some later Tom Petty albums more. Favorite track(s): American Girl

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Aug 23 2026

Familiar with the artist? Yes, I heard a lot of Neil Young growing up, though not this album. Thoughts: I will admit that nostalgia will have an effect on my Neil Young ratings. He's my dad's favorite so I have good memories of Harvest playing throughout the house most weekends. A lot of people can't deal with his voice, which I get, but I don't mind it. On this album specifically though - the bookend tracks are excellent, and the only part of the album I was really familiar with. Enjoyed most of the rest as well, though I do have a couple I'd skip. Favorite track(s): My My, Hey Hey / Hey Hey, My My Least favorite: "Pocahontas" probably seemed progressive at the time, but ...😅

Who's Next by The Who
Aug 24 2026

Listened before? No Familiar with the artist? Yes, I know the hits on here. Thoughts: - Actually know more of these songs than I thought! I recognized "Bargain" as well. - I laughed out loud at the first verse of "Getting in Tune" and added it to my library; I'm really too easy to please 😅 - Other than "My Wife" this is an excellent album! I was expecting to give a 4 but I have to go 5. Favorite track(s): Baba O'Riley, Getting in Tune Least favorite: My Wife

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Aug 25 2026

Listened before? No Familiar with the artist? Yes, this is my second Dylan album of the project. Thoughts: - I should have known I'd be a Bob Dylan fan before I started this project. It's been a musical blind spot that I'm glad to finally fix. 🙂 - I love a good, long story song, lol. I'm sure there are people who hate "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts," but I was enthralled 😅 - I know I'll need a few more listens to fully take in this one, but I can't see my rating changing. Favorite track(s): "Tangled Up in Blue", "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" Least favorite: Wasn't really into "Meet Me in the Morning," but I don't hate it.
