Popular Reviews

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder

I was lucky enough to see Stevie Wonder live at the time that these songs and those from Talking Book were most what got played. It was one of the best concerts I ever saw.

Fragile by Yes

What can be said about this album beyond Wow! I was fortunate enough to see them live once. What a fantastic show.

The Doors by The Doors

That was fun! Listening to this inspired me to do a Doors binge yesterday

Dry by PJ Harvey

This was a delightful find! I really like her raw style. I had to go listen to another one of her albums right away.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Sep 21 2021

I love hearing albums that helped form me in my youth, but that I don't have in my collection.

B-52's by The B-52's
Sep 24 2021
The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Sep 29 2021

I learned of this when it was new and bought it then. Great collaborations!

Tonight's The Night by Neil Young
Oct 01 2021

I wasn't familiar with this. From this time period I appreciate After the Gold Rush and Harvest more than this.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Oct 04 2021

Well, this could be the 1001st time I've listened to this classic work. Great stuff.

Heroes by David Bowie
Oct 06 2021
Under Construction by Missy Elliott
Oct 11 2021

Some good musical ideas in here. But, I get bored quickly with bloviated, self- aggrandizing lyrics.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Oct 12 2021

I've had a few other Dire Straights and Knopfler albums, but somehow never studied this one. This is a great piece of work!

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley

Interesting music. I was not familiar with hime before

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Oct 18 2021
The Doors by The Doors

Very nice listen

Interesting stuff. Wasn't familiar with them before.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Oct 25 2021

I appreciate the talent, but no my cup of tea at all.

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
Oct 28 2021

I had never heard of these guys before. This music made me move! I really liked this disc. I listened to the Expanded Version, which has many versions of several of their songs. It's a great showing of their creativity and command of different styles of music and recording.

1989 by Taylor Swift
Nov 01 2021
Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Nov 11 2021

If you look at Scott’s lyrics out of context of the music, some of it actually okay poetry. But the aimless music makes it sounds like rambling drivel.

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
Nov 17 2021

One of my favorites. Nobody addresses poetry in music quite like Kate.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Nov 23 2021

Wow! That was fun! Most of it seemed more like rock than funk, though, which surprised me. A great piece of work regardless.

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Nov 25 2021

Great voice and delivery. Such an icon! I never did establish an ear for the kind or orchestration that was used for this album, though.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Nov 26 2021

A great piece of work

If You're Feeling Sinister by Belle & Sebastian
Nov 29 2021

This one didn't do much for me. It had some good lyrics, but the music didn't move me at all.

Sheet Music by 10cc
Dec 01 2021

Brilliant as usual for 10cc

Palo Congo by Sabu
Dec 02 2021

Good music that must have been very unusual to the American ear when it was first released

Dry by PJ Harvey
Dec 03 2021

This was a delightful find! I really like her raw style. I had to go listen to another one of her albums right away.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Dec 07 2021

I was familiar with Jack White and the White Stripes, but had never engaged in listening to them. This is great stuff!

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Dec 08 2021

A classic for sure! So many great songs, here. I bought this one in high school. Alas, the stars never aligned so that I could see them live. I think I would have enjoyed that.

Faust IV by Faust
Dec 09 2021

This had many interesting styles and constructs. I would have enjoyed discovering it earlier in life!

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
Dec 10 2021

I really enjoyed this disc from another artist I'd never heard of.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Dec 14 2021

Never been a big metal fan, but this was a very nice trip down memory lane.

Dec 15 2021

I still remember the first time I heard this when I was in high school. I've always thought it was great, and it opened the door to all of Traffic's great music.

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Dec 17 2021
Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Dec 20 2021

This was among the sound track of my freshman year in high school. It was great to hear it again, though it's not going to climb back into my regular playlist.

Third by Portishead
Dec 31 2021

Beth Gibbons' voice is mesmerizing. I don't like this one quite as much as their debut album, Dummy.

Tapestry by Carole King
Jan 04 2022

Ahh, I hadn't listened to this in full for a few decades. A delightful memory of a classic!

Da Capo by Love
Jan 05 2022

I don't think I had ever heard this before. It felt ahead of it's times.

Spiderland by Slint
Jan 06 2022

Interesting moody stuff.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 07 2022

Pure late 60's awesomeness.

Gold by Ryan Adams
Jan 12 2022

I'm not big on country and western music. This was great work!

Jan 13 2022

I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this, as I'm disinclined to like pop music that was done after about 1980. (It's not a fair prejudice). He puts out a lot of energy in this music.

British Steel by Judas Priest
Jan 18 2022

Never paid attention to these guys before. Solid hard rock!

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 19 2022

Wow! Trip down memory lane!

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Jan 20 2022

Haven't listened to this in full for many years. Nice.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jan 25 2022

I was lucky enough to see Stevie Wonder live at the time that these songs and those from Talking Book were most what got played. It was one of the best concerts I ever saw.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Feb 08 2022

Some music brings back strong memories. This was the soundtrack to a long weekend out of town. It was one of those experiences that makes me thankful that we didn't kill anyone from stupid teenage boy antics. This album was heard many times over many years.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Feb 10 2022

Not exactly easy listening! Good beats.

Fragile by Yes
Feb 11 2022

What can be said about this album beyond Wow! I was fortunate enough to see them live once. What a fantastic show.

S&M by Metallica
Feb 14 2022

I never engaged much with metal. That said, this album was a really fun listen!

Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis
Feb 16 2022

I never cared a great deal for JLL's style, but always recognized that it was a significant contribution. It was a fun listen.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Feb 17 2022

Well, it'll never be my favorite Stones album, but there are a few treasures on it.

Technique by New Order
Feb 22 2022

This didn't move me. I've never appreciated overly-sequenced dance music.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Feb 24 2022

I always appreciated when I heard Sly on the radio, but never got any of their albums. This is good 1970s pop-rock!

Rio by Duran Duran
Feb 25 2022

Pretty good 80'd new wave.

No Other by Gene Clark
Mar 11 2022

Interesting mix of brilliant folk/rock-ish with crossing the line to boring country-ish. He was a very good lyricist.

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Aug 31 2022

This was a great listen, and surprising that it was made in 1971.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Dec 27 2022

I've often felt that Dylan was one of those artists that I did not pay enough attention to. This was a great piece of work that showed that not all highly successful artists just phone it in as they get older.

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
Dec 29 2022

The only Roxy Music that I was familiar with before this was their final one, Avalon. I've always really liked that one. This one is light years different. It's interesting, and I see how it is influential.

The Score by Fugees
Jan 02 2023

Very interesting fusion of hip hop and reggae!

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Feb 24 2023
Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Mar 01 2024

I acquired this many years ago. It's one of my favorite jazz albums.
