1001 Albums Summary

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I loved bass and guitar work in most of the songs and the brass instruments peppered throughout. I don’t think I’ll return to the full album much going forward but Lively Yourself Up is definitely going into my rotation.

I don’t love live albums generally, but this one balanced the crowd noise with the actual songs well. Also all the songs were bangers.

Unlistenable

Great album!

This is the type of music you’d expect to hear in a cruise ship restaurant and I mean that as a compliment.

Very nostalgic for me because it was one of the albums my dad put on my first iPod.

First album I listened to twice in one sitting.

Obviously Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean and PYT are premium tier songs but the other songs are kinda mid and The Girl Is Mine is straight up bad.

Extremely based choice to cover The Man Who Sold the World.

He should try calling women ‘bitches’ less but the songs are good regardless

If I could give this album more stars, I would. Truly one of the greatest artists to ever live and this album exemplifies his musical versatility and willingness experiment with new sounds. Obviously, Young Americans and Fame are the standout tracks, but this album has no misses.

Never heard the original version of Coconut before. RIP Dr. Sweets.

If my own mother told me she liked this album, I would call her a liar straight to her face.

The experience of listening to this album was not unlike listening to an hour of the background music in Wii sports.

This is genuinely one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. Frank Zapa should have been tried at The Hague for crimes against humanity.

I would have loved this album if I heard it drunk at a lowkey cocktail bar. Unfortunately, I listened to it driving home from work in my Toyota Corolla.

Perfectly encapsulates the sound of 2010

This album is an hour and 16 minutes of pure copium about dropping out of college. Glad it worked out for him though.

Strong performances from all the artists, but I hate Christmas music.
