The Queen Is Dead
The Smithslistening while sad, good sad listen, some uplift in it all too
listening while sad, good sad listen, some uplift in it all too
verrrry what I think of 90s sounds; obvi knew some of the songs, but definitely found a couple others to add to some party playlists, happy listen
goofy, silly time; not something I would listen to typically but a fun time,, reminds me of that one episode of Tom and Jerry where they fight for being a conductor of a symphony or something. I feel like seeing this live in the 50s was a blast (for men)
I love the song islands. There are definitely other great songs, with nice guitar and rhythm but there are also songs where I kind don’t vibe with the forced angstiness of the voices and slightly basic lyrics
Great album! wish I’d known about it sooner. of course kanye as a producer is huge. Favorite songs were GO! and testify. And the sample of kids saying what they wanna be in the song it’s your world was special, loved it
Funky!!!!!! Many great tracks, great for sampling (future thought). Favorite tracks - Chic Cheer and Savoir Faire
am I supposed to like The Beach Boys… is it bad that I don’t. Many songs just kinda have cheesy show-tuney singing. Makes me think of tautiniai aidai not in a good way
Not something i absolutely love, but something I like and I could see myself liking more with more listens. It’s very cool that it’s a vocals focused album.. will have to relisten to lyrics
it’s rock and I like it. Is it my favorite? no. But plenty of bangers. Deserves more attention from me
An actual freaking masterpiece. Can’t believe I’ve never listened to this album…. Insane how much variety and at the same time connection there is between the tracks. I know I will have more and more thoughts as I listen
just not for me. I’m not even halfway through but it’s long, kind of boring. Some songs are slow and some have too much going on
I recognize that this is a quality album. I could see myself sometimes wanting to listen to 60s rock, but most of the time I don’t want to listen to 60s rock. So for that reason I give it 3.
Never thought I’d really appreciate metal but this is not bad
The music of Goodwill, sometimes good but sometimes I don’t have the will to absorb all the sounds that come with one song. But I can appreciate that some of these songs are absolute bangerz
YEs to this. reminds me of so many other artists that I love, Bowie and Beatles. some songs do kind of blend together ever so slightly. Need to relisten though, was distracted
Love this album. Dark and ambient. Some of the vocals are slightly annoying (but also nostalgic-feeling) so the purely instrumental parts are some of my favorite bits
I don't love it and i don't hate it, its there. And maybe some day I'll pick it back up and like it a lot more and judge present self. Obviously every breathe you take is a masterpiece, but its overplayed.
there were good songs, I really liked Mr Spaceman and I see why it was influential. Reminds me of beach boys but with a tad more edge which is nice. But some songs were also tiring
this black keys album unlocked a deep nostalgia that comes with some sadness and longing for the past. HOWEVER, it's really good. love the vocals and variations in distortion in both the vocals and guitar
obviously several of these songs have been favorites since middle school but i had never listened to the whole album through. Some of the vocals are just a tad annoying in that 90s rock/punk rock way but after a second listen im more into it
not the biggest jazz fan but if i was listening to this and sipping a g+t at a bar, this would be a vibe
Nahh Im good, like just so fine not listening to this ever again besides maybe in the context of wanting to fall asleep
I'm not an American girl so while American girl might have been a bop in high school for me, i'm no longer as into it. And these other tracks are just not hitting either. And also, men and their weird vocals back then, im all set. Giving this a 3 because i could see myself coming back around to it someday
I LOVE this. Definitely makes me think of drives to the desert. There's complexity and diversity in instruments and sounds but still cohesive throughout the album. Beautiful vocals and deserty, vibey guitar.
objectively fun, objectively deserves praise. just plain old rock is not my favorite but this is enjoyable and I can feel how much more enjoyable it would be if it could be heard live.
hell yeah. short album but such great pieces!! throwing me on a jazz stint through spotify radio
in the most unexpected turn of events I really liked this album when I totally thought I'd have to skip. heavy rock from the 70s is good apparently and I am a fan. Songs were saved.
Great album, no doubt. Some songs have just been a little overplayed and feel a bit dad indie rock but i can deal. my favorites are Suburban War and Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
amazing. Start to finish. So upbeat and smooth and lovely.
Enjoyed!!! I love country when it’s girlies! Star song for me was Making Plans
Good rock album, enjoy some songs, but some songs do blend together a bit
AC/DC - stuff of the legends for sure, not a daily listen, but no taste acquire needed unlike I presupposed
a beautiful album, well matched with reading the Desert Oracle. and the next step would be to find a translation for the lyrics, as I’m sure it would tie it all together all the more
There are bits that are worthwhile but I can’t deal with the up and down tempo and up and down loudness. It feels all over the place for me
Beautiful! intimate and with much depth. Things to learn from every different listen from every different point in life
unimpressive album to me, no songs really stood out, and i absolutely hated the song that started with snoring
A solid ambient rock album. It's mesmerizing, draws you in. Would listen again for sure.
Obviously has the absolute hit tainted love, but Im not super into the rest, not the biggest fan of the musical outcomes of the 80s
Beautiful, clean, funky and with story telling lyrics
Masterpiece. I have a soft spot for early 2000s Indie, but i CANT believe I’ve never listened to this full album. Two weeks was always a favorite. But the whole album is engrossing, can’t stop listening type. Every song is full, the vocals and lyricisim emotional, and unique, while also all coming together perfectly.
Beautiful album. Soft but also sad and depressing at times. A perfect melancholy listen. My favorites are Time Has Told Me and Saturday Sun, perfectly sandwiching the album.
First instinct - noisy, quick, and unclean. But on second listen, it’s better! Songs more distinct. I appreciate it and blitzkrieg bop is in fact a bop. Buuut not particularly impressed.
Blues is new for me! So while the songs blended a bit for me. I was head dancing - it was great.
drawn too far out! could’ve been good but I can’t listen to that many guitar solos. Maybe it’s my decrepit attention span, worn down by apps of infinite scroll, but this is tiring.
Great dancey album! Gave it two listens and enjoyed both all the same
I love his voice. His music is like more-refined and softer Tom Waits. Movie magic in it all of course. AND the social commentary on American egotism is great.
An album with openness and depth. I love Put Him Out, such a great representation of female friendship that looks out for friends in terrible relationships. And Brother is also such a sweet ode to her sibling. Great album.
intimate, beautiful set of live songs. I loved the candidness of the album, with songs that Vaughan could not remember the lyrics to kept in. and what a beautiful voice!!!!
good, solid album. missing some edge for me, got a little bit bored by the end
Unique and distinct each song! But comes together beautifully. Clear and abundant talent. In love with this album
obsessed in the best way possible. brings up so many feeelings always and reminds of my first apt in echo park. such a soothing voice he had
amazing as imagined, as figured. my only hesitancy for a 5 is that some tracks flow in and out more abruptly than expected. But who am I to judge that really. Imagine almost makes me cry each time
lyrics that cut through all time, and a voice that’s always beautiful.
