A Rush Of Blood To The Head
ColdplayEasy to listen to album with a nostalgic feel, 7.5/10.
Easy to listen to album with a nostalgic feel, 7.5/10.
Soubour is a great opening song to a well-written Malian blues album in its own language. Very refreshing blues-take under a Malian fusion. Ahead of the curve. 6.8/10.
Punchy punk album, good for running and other active stuff. Not usually my pick, but a classic. 5/10.
Relaxing reggae vibes, the best of its genre. 8/10.
Not a big fan of the Beatles but a good album nonetheless, 6/10.
The king of it, power soul voice singing the classics. 7.8/10.
Her deservedly so breakthrough album demonstrating magnificent vocal range. A classic of the years, 9/10.
Some heavy rock songs, very cliche ‘fuck-you’ guitar chords, very feel good depending on the mood you’re in. 6/10.
Personal favourite, greatest album of all time 10/10. Jeff Buckley was a talented individual with an immense ear for music. You can hear the emotion in his voice, an album that is timeless and still popular today. 10/10.
Classic heavy rock, punchy 2-disc album, a nostalgic rock feel to it. 7.4/10.
Instrumental album, couple classics that anyone would recognise, easy listen to cook to.
The best of our current generation, good flow and tells stories in song. 7/10.
It’s Led Zeppelin, you know what you’re going to get. 55 year old album but doesn’t feel dated. Since I’ve been loving you is a great example of the masterful guitar work of this band. 8/10
Great album with some known classics, easy to listen to and good for walks. 6.6/10
The Cuban vibes are immaculate, you feel like a bad ass listening to this, could listen to this all afternoon: 8.4/10.
Good tones and enjoyable listen but not for me, it lacks something - perhaps the vocals? 4.6/10.
Heavier band than I initially remember, they got that dog in them, intro song to the album really sets the tone from the start. 7.4/10.
2/10. Overrated artist who has an only a couple of OK songs on this dull 1hr30 runtime album. Even a broken clock is right twice, I guess. I could’ve watched Shrek instead of listen to this.
Easy, peaceful and relaxing aura from this soundscape of an album. What seems like an M83 band but who are Icelandic, they don’t miss. 7.4/10.
Legendary, turning point of hip hop. 8/10.
Easy listen, short album with some really nice tones. 6/10.
The repetitiveness of this album was what killed it for me, there’s some variety but not much. The tones and sounds used throughout didn’t grasp me and thought the vocals weren’t great either. Couldn’t get into it and unfortunately wasn’t for me despite listening through the entire thing.
Good album and good voice, not my usual taste but the fast tempo wants to make your feet regardless. 5/10.
Too repetitive and songs are far too long without any substance. Hard listen to finish the album, 3.2/10
Good listen with great Melodies. 6.4/10.
Had me thumping my foot on the ground and pissing off my wife. A great listen from start to finish, hypnotic one-chord blues album. 8/10.
The Canadian from Winnipeg produces an easy listen album with his great voice and blues-like tones. 6.4/10.
George has incredible pure vocals which are present but, his final form isn’t demonstrated in this album. 6/10, good album not his best work.
Great variety of songs, rather than just constant noise. An album from the 70’s that would be a hit in the 2020’s. 8.4/10.
1st half of the album pulls you in but eventually falls flat on the second half, heads will roll will forever remain a hit. 6/10.
Hard to justify a rating for this one, it was kind of crap. Couldn’t get past the weird tones and voice-like singing, it feels like it’s trying too hard to be something and the musical element is then lost, 3/10.
Great range of an album. Calm tones such as Something Changed but then great energy such as Common People. Masters of the sound in 1995, British band balancing song and storytelling. 8.9/10.
Nice tones, surprisingly more enjoyable than expected with John’s calm voice. Good variety, but not something I’d listen to again. Thankfully Ono didn’t ‘sing’ on this keeping the score a respectable 6/10.
Great voice, some recognisable songs and a range of feelings throughout. The instrumental of Embryonic Journey gives cathartic feelings of reflection. 8.2/10.
Refreshing Nigerian Afro-beat that blows pop artists out the water that exist today. Intelligently put together music. Plenty nonsense, more like no nonsense. 7.8/10
Enjoyed the R&B vibes of this, wasn’t too in your face and had a classy sound to it. R&B isn’t usually my cup of tea but my wife enjoyed it so 7.5/10.
David Bowie is hailed as one of the greatest, I don’t see/understand it. A couple songs on this album were good, the rest didn’t really interest me, I’m going to give it a (probably too harsh) 4.8/10.
This was okay, enjoyable with a few nice songs. Ahead of its time with very good sound quality if we compared them against the Beatles. 6.5/10.
Unfortunately didn’t finish this album, the blues were good but not much else to say, perhaps I should’ve given it a better chance. 5/10.
This first few songs of this album weren’t that great but then it goes into something completely different, and sucked me in. 8.2/10.
Short and sweet, some classic recognisable tunes in there. Great for its time period, 6.2/10.
Good tones, didn’t manage to listen all the way through as had guests. Enjoyed parts of it. 5/10.
Opened the album and thought, what is this… and then it dropped, amazing. Never heard of this band before, great for the 70’s, but a lot of long silences and mono-layered melodies, hard to judge this one but 2.8/10. (Someone compared them to Pink Floyd, don’t do that).
Easy to listen, a distinctive voice in Pop, and enjoyable overall album. 6.5/10.
A nice listen, has a summer-like vibe to it and comparatively similar to M83’s style of music. Would listen to again properly (listened on a commute and I forget I’m listening). 7.4/10.
Enjoyed the album, not as good as LCD system but enjoyable nonetheless. I think reviews on here are a bit harsh, song good songs but some also not so good songs. 5/10 down the middle for me.
Easily forgettable but a good background listen. Nice drum fills but because it’s mostly all instrumental, it’s hard to truly get into. Well crafted music but as mentioned, easy to forget. 4.8/10.
Listened to twice, rebel music is a song that’s not popular but really has a terrific vibe to it. Reggae isn’t high up my list of genres but this album delivers a great insight into the genre. 8/10.
Was delighted to see smashing pumpkins, a band I know but not familiar with their stuff. This album just had the perfect balance of heavy and non-heavy, a Time Machine back into the 1990’s alternative era, 9/10.
Couldn’t get into this album with the long intro and outro samples used, I never understand why artists choose to do this. The music itself is good but not to my usual taste. 5/10.
An enjoyable album with a few good tracks, nothing to rave about but again, not much to complain about either. Down the middle 5/10.
The overly-British spoken word parts surrounding each song took me out quite a bit, especially the opening song. The music itself is quite nice, at times. Bonus fact: this is the guy that wrote the theme song for IT crowd, how strange. 4/10.
Enjoyable listen, nothing stand out-ish but has a calm, Phil Collins vibe. It was an album I enjoyed finishing, and far from a task like others on this journey, but I wasn’t replaying songs. 6.5/10.
Not heard of this artist, he had a great voice but not going to lie, the album came off a bit depressing (I wasn’t listening to the lyrics). I’m all for a Radiohead-depression session but I feel this kept going on, nevertheless, good music. 5/10.
Sublime live album of old school blues. Great voice and lovely blues tone. Never listened to Muddy Waters, but will listen to again, for sure. 7.2/10.
Didn’t have the time to listen in full, but great guitar as always from soundgarden. 6/10 (as didn’t complete album)
The album was good but it just kept going on, and for this exercise makes it tricky to stay engaged. The album is 2 hours long as it’s 2-sided, the music is generally good but sometimes a shorter album will leave you wanting more, this left me wanting less. 5/10.
Absolute classics from the 1990’s. Sister sledge smashed it with this album. You’re more than likely to know the songs than ever heard of Sister Sledge. Greatest dancer and Thinking of You are total 10/10’s. Only thing bringing this album down is the 8 minute long remixes, I get it - you are family. 9/10.
I don’t understand frankly. Like a lot of reviews on here, there’s no subtlety and it’s written like it’s done by some high schooler who discovered poetry… Some songs are good, caramel for instance has good substance and sound but is massively disrupted by the previous song “JC hates faggots.” The kind of album edgy people listen and ‘like’ for its derogatory usage, I understand why it’s on this list but can’t understand its average rating. 2/10 (saving grace is some of the other songs giving it a 2).
Really not as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be. The songs are musically enjoyable and not at all whiny. Good balance of lyrics and soft beats with your regular electric guitar. Not heard of these guys, but surprised to not have. 6/10.
This album was ok, not much to say about this and unfortunately leaving this review in a rush. 4.9/10
What a feel good album, whether you enjoy her music or not; this album really hits the spot on a blue sky, sunny Friday. Released in ‘83, I’d argue it’s way ahead of its time, this album gets a high 9.3/10.
Like many of the other reviews on here, I just couldn’t get past the first whining noise, not music, not the kind of album I was hoping for the drive I was going on. 2/10.
Listened to half as I’ve been ill, wasn’t the Radiohead I was expecting and a little disappointing as I went in with high hope, still deserves a high 6. 6.8/10.
Absolutely sublime, what a special, individual and great voice. I know of fast car but never gave the full album the attention it deserves. 8.5/10
Nostalgic album I used to listen to when I was younger on the iPod! Great continuity throughout, nothing stand out-ish, but good loud feel good music. 7/10.
2nd album of Adele’s that has come onto my list, her voice is incredible and frankly an underrated artist. This album was what really got her charting in the day. Rolling in the deep, rumour has it and set fire to the rain are just great. 8/10.
Frankly, I just can’t get into Bowie, it might be a generation thing (born mid 90’s), but I just don’t like it. This is the second album on this site that I’ve listened from start to finish where I thought maybe I’ll finally change my mind, nope - no change. It’s not awful, but I don’t see the popularity like others may have in DB. Down the middle, 5/10 for me.
Black sabbath… now we’re talking. Punchy, heavy music without the irritating components that you sometimes get with this genre. Great riffs as always, and the uniqueness of the vocals really staple home that it’s Black Sabbath. Changes gives a balance of melancholy to the album and supernaut, well - gives a balance of metal with a superb solo. This band would EASILY hold up today, let alone the 70’s. 8/10.
Honestly, apart from Tainted Love, the first half of the album is strange and sounds like music made by either the mighty-boosh or Jez from Peep Show, I don’t get it really. At times it’s a concoction of different sounds with overly British spoken word on top. Second half of the album somewhat redeems itself with normal sounding music, “Where did our love go” is tolerable for instance. 3.9/10.
Great, another one of these albums… no way to really describe this kind of music, sounds like those music toys babies DJ on, in fact - it probably is for the opener. I understand this maybe revolutionised sampling but who actually listens to this and enjoys it? I’m an avid listener of all genres of music, but whenever I see “Prog Rock” I wince. Too repetitive. 2/10.
Very short but some nice blues. Don’t think I’d listen to again but it was still enjoyable. 5/10.
Hmmm.. lots of noisy, unstructured guitar making it difficult to really get into. In the end, it kind of became a chunk of background noise. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy it despite giving it a chance. 3/10.
Something about this album feels nostalgic despite having never listened to it in full. I tend to lean on the side of not enjoying the Beatles but this album was enjoyable and set different moods through. 7.5/10.
Honestly - not sure. Radiohead are great and all, but a lot of the songs in this felt a bit too experimental at times. I can feel some of the tones that come out of this, especially a twist of Jazz: Life in a Greenhouse in particular. I’m sure Kid A overshadowed this album, released a year earlier. Down the middle(ish), 5.8/10.
Pleasantly surprised by this one. Thought it’d be one I’d write off but really enjoyed the beats with the spoken rap on top. Has soul, and passion behind the words. Unexpected 8/10.
Musics fine but it’s not my taste. Full 80’s mood to get into it. 5/10.
Something about the vocals are just amazing. You’d have to be in the mood to listen to something so different and Venezuelan like this, but it’s so enjoyable and only a short album. I feel like Escobar listening to this. Would create a drug empire off the back of this, 7/10.
Classics. This album is comprised of classics, it’s a staple album start to finish, despite the genre of music it’s enjoyable to the masses. 8/10.
Didn’t really listen through as had a busy day and Algerian music wasn’t quite going to make the day go much better unfortunately. 4/10.
Spellbound is a pleasant, nice opener. Loved the guitar and the vocals, not heard of this band before but an enjoyable listen. Definitely feels ahead of its time across some songs. 7/10.
Enjoyable listen, raspy jazzy blues tones. 6.5/10.
The soul in this is just next level. Mannish boy is a killer opener, this is original blues that can never be replicated. 8/10.
Somewhat enjoyable, interesting riffs and vocals, but don’t see myself listening to again, it can be too whiney at times. 6/10.
Underrated. A really enjoyable, mellow listen. A consistent album in its sound maintaining a calm, musically versed sound throughout. Some big features on here too. A surprisingly good album, 8/10.
Enjoyable listen but nothing stuck out for me, nothing bad about it, just not my taste. 6/10.
Another Bowie, I wonder how many more albums I must endure on this site… Exactly as expected, however Lazarus had an awesome jazz like musical solo toward the end which was special, same as I can’t give anything. These feel unconventional to Bowie and were actually refreshing, bringing the album’s score up to a 7/10.
