The Dark Side Of The Moon
Pink Floydyeah. 5 stars. duh
yeah. 5 stars. duh
Elisabeth Troy's voice on most tracks is really nice. a whole album of UK Garage is definitely a challenge. but surprisingly, this is an album that i will definitely come back to. chill dance music. perfect music to play at a start of a party. made me like and understand UK Garage, maybe ? i wonder what fans of the genre think of this record. "Slum King" masterclass
Boring crooner music. Not even interesting orchestrations. Especially with certain songs when compared to their original versions from Jacques Brel. I seriously don't understand why this album is on there and not any Brel's
fuck Kanye. absolute asshole. can't stand the dude. but music wise this is still good stuff. it sucks that the man that did it is a little Hitler now.
I mean it's alright, I guess. I just find it kinda bland and not really as incredible as people say it is. 10/10 according to Pitchfork. more of a 6,5/10 for me.
one of the best live albums of all time
great production on this one (thank you Rick Rubin) "Under the bridge" what an amazing song
incredible record. so effective and so powerful. "Wake Up" what a track (it was on the Matrix soundtrack)
lots of hits on this one. Opening Track "Around the World" is one of my favorite RHCP songs. second part of the album just falls flat for me.
Wow, is this album horny .... but banger after banger songs.
In Utero is better
yeah. 5 stars. duh
this album is 50 years old. how ??? the production isn't as impressive than on "Radioactive", their next album. but pretty really good
Still an absolute banger album.
Could not get into the vocals. His voice was too annoying for me. But the songs are fun and effective. "Calistan" and "Two Reelers" are my personal favorites on that record
the mix between electronic and classical instruments is really well put. Ute has such a beautiful voice. the duets with Neil Hammon in Tango Ballad and in Split ♥️ reminds me of the Hooverphonic live orchestra album Personal favorite: "The case continues" "streets of berlin" & "Purple avenue" "scope j." on the other hand is an experimental snooze-fest and it's sucks that it's the last track. overall : a nice record but unfortunately pretty forgettable
the opening monologue really takes you in the mood of the record. it's nice for a live album to have the feeling of one long take (sometimes there are some fades out or cuts) even the little accidents are kept in. it's refreshing the jazz classics are sung and played well but nothing groundbreaking. not a real memorable performance on one of those well known songs. like my girlfriend said : "it's a good record to wake up to but nothing more"
the opening title track is really good. Golden Years is a nice soul song the rest is pretty forgettable
never heard of the guy before but a incredibly soothing voice. The opening track really had a Pink Floyd feel (similar riff to Breathe (in the air). the rest are mostly campfire rock ballads
"Slum King" masterclass
some annoying psyche 60s rock. lyrically it's really bland, the voice and orchestration really aren't my thing. "The castle" is the only track i'd save here. the final track "Revelation" has some good moments but it's a bad track in global. Just because you have a 18min track doesn't mean you're like the Doors. lyrically, this track is so bad !
always wanted to listen to this record in full in once. did it while to cleaning up my apartment and it made me really efficient 😅 such a delicious album to listen too. and when you look at the lyrics, it's surprisingly really political. this album is like one long cuddle of pure music. probably more enjoyable by just chilling but still ... wow fav song : Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology) and Inner City Blues
too slow and too long. nothing breathtaking about this record. "City , Country, City" sounds like a bad jam that where musiciens don't listen to each other. boring. the title track "The World is a Ghetto" is the only track i saved. nice chord progression, nice chorus. that's it
boring in extensive measure. worse news, on Apple music we have a lot of extended versions of those songs. a lot of songs sound like background music in a US tavern. the song "sweet thing" takes lyrics from "blackbird" from The Beatles and it sucks, horrible hommage.
"I wanna sleep with you" has a really nice punk-ish feel and some nice riffs. the other tracks aren't really memorable.
what an album !!! nothing more to say. my favorite album from Cat. "Father & Son" always makes me cry. what makes it not a 5 star is the final song which is so bad !
absolutely beautiful. of course i'd heard "Respect" and "Do Right Woman, Do right man" before but i was surprised by how short they were and how well they sounded in the album as a whole. the global orchestration behind Franklin's voice really makes it sound even better. I discovered "Soul Serenade" and it's now a personal soul favorite. and finally that cover of Sam Cooke's "A change is gonna come" WOW 🤯 it's now my favorite version of the song. incredible record.
some perfectly innocent pop-rock songs. "Clocks" is a banger. rest is pretty basic Coldplay music.
nice but nothing incredible imo
not a huge Elvis fan but has some really nice songs on there
1st time listening to an album from the Boss and i was pleasantly surprised by how much i liked this at first. couple songs in and the melodies were catchy, the themes were interesting. i was eager to listen to the rest. then the other songs came ; same melodies, some style of orchestration, same themes. i thought it would never end. like it was on repeat. way too long for something that could have been an EP.
hypnotizing voice. i saved "beautiful feeling" " the whores hustle and the hustlers whore" which is an amazing track. my favorite is "the mess we're in" with Tom York vocals, such a pleasure to have him sing by surprise. A little bit too much New York centered for me. on the other hand she's not really good with the high note parts like in the song "kamikaze" which is painfully difficult to listen to.
when i saw the album cover, i was expecting another boring album but nothing of that ! a balanced album of sweet ballads and fun songs. and even tough his name didn't ring a bell at first, turned out i knew a lot songs on the album. "Coconut" is a bit annoying tough. rest of the album is great.
nice ambiant music. listen while working and did the job
I said it once and I'll say it again Blondie walked so that No Doubt could run. there are nice songs on here, but it's pretty boring as a whole. I really liked "Sunday girl". and of course, "heart of glass" is an absolute banger. too bad "Atomic" wasn't on it otherwise it would have been 4⭐️
a raw punk rock feminist masterpiece. "Deceptacon" is a classic of mine. "What's Yr Take on Cassavetes" is amazing. "The The Empty" is a wild crazy mess, and i loved it. my only remark would be that the riffs are a bit similar in between songs and i know it's a trope from punk albums but the songs are really short sometimes. why not just make one song and have beat switches ? "friendship station" is also a bit too corny for me. i really enjoyed "Dude Yr so Crazy!!" by how lyrically it is still (unfortunately) relevant.
it's always nice to listen to a known band first LP. Michael Stipe's vocals and lyrics are particularly good on this record. favorite tracks : "Perfect Circle" and "We Walk". The album has a nice melancholy and warmth. A great album. will probably come back to it on a chill sunny Sunday. More a 4,5 than a 4.
Under The Pressure Is an Amazing opening track. in General, on the record, the longer a song is the better. I'm just a little disappointed by the drumming which is too simular in between tracks. an Ocean in between the waves is the only that caught me by surprise, with its 80s drums. But great record will come back to it for sure
The definition of 80s pop and I mean that in the best way possible of course there are the classics like "take on me", but I was surprised by how many songs I liked on this record other than the hits. Yes it's corny Yes, it's full of lost songs and pretty dated ones but it's comforting and optimistic and I believe we all need that right now. fav song : Living a boy's adventure tale & the sun always shine on TV
Really classic and really enjoyable jazz and bossa nova standards. Just sometimes the mixing on Antonio's voice really sticks out, we can hear it was recorded on a worst microphone than Sinatra's. fav song : Sinatra/Jobim Medley
First i heard to the Bowie mix and it was horrible. I hated it. Then i listened to the Iggy Mix and it was waaaaaay better. Proto-punk needs to be mixed right to not sound like shit. But in general i wasn't completely convinced by the album
If blues and heavy metal had a kid. A great representation of what grunge is, in my opinion. Gritty, raw, loud, with great vocals. fav tracks : Rooster, JunkHead, Would ?
"More Than a Feeling" is one of my childhood favorites. I was disappointed to not enjoy other songs on this record as much. As my girlfriend said, it's a great "start of road-trip" album. Fav songs : More than a Feeling & Foreplay/Long Time
As soon as i heard the first song, the voice and general vibe sounded really fimiliar. Then i heard the song "My Beloved Monster" and i recognized it from the Shrek soundtrack. I also found out that they made another song in the Shrek 2 soudtrack called "I need some sleep", which is a personal favorite on that record. Besides those facts, I really enjoyed that album. +1 star for the Shrek track. Fav songs : Mental, Your Lucky Day in Hell
Iconic album. I listened to it once with friends after a listening of "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack and we concluded that it's like a positive/opmistic version of that record. "Sexy Boy" and "All I Need" are two of my favorite electronic songs. more of a 4,75 but rounded up.
I really enjoyed this record. Perfect for sunny days. I wanna go on bike rides while listening to this. Fav songs : Marrakesh Express & Hopelessly Hoping
"2+2=5" is one of the best opening track in RH's discography. I find the second part of the album way more effective and explosive. The first half is pretty inconsistent. It came out at this weird period in the band's career (after OK computer & KID A but before In Rainbows) so still in a transition from styles. Since it's a Radiohead album and they are my favorite band, I can't give it less than a 4-star rating but it's a light 4. Fav songs : A Wolf at the Door (masterpiece)& Myxomatosis
well ok. it's great. should have listened to it earlier in my life.
that's 2 Stooges album in less than a month.... and even tough I much prefer this one. but still not really my thing, mixing-wise. fav songs : TV Eye & LA Blues (crazy sax solo) a 2,75 rounded up
"Running up that Hill" as now been too overplayed for me to like it. but the rest of the album is really good. Nice melodies, chords, drums and mix. It's surprisingly more experimental than what I expected. maybe juste too long for me. a 3,25 rounded up fav song : Hounds of Love & Waking the Witch
A pretty "mid" album in general. Even tough I like Neil Young's music, this album isn't really anything earth-wreckening. It's nice to listen to when you're working, I must say. 2,75 rounded up. Fav song : Vampire Blues & For the Turnstiles
to start an album with "Paint It Black" is absolutely incredible. I can't imagine what it must have felt like on a vinyl record at the time, as a first listen. the rest of it .... really not my thing.
one of my favorite prog album of all time. I remember listening to a vinyl copy with my friends a couple years ago. Yes "Moonchild" is a bit too long and empty in its second half but I don't care. more of a 9/10. but rounded up.
Another Neil Young record ? well I prefer this one a lot more than "On the beach" but I just think his music and his singing just aren't my thing. 5,5/10
so THAT is what a good Bruce Springsteen album sounds like ! 7/10 even though some songs are really corny. fav songs : I'm on fire & Glory Days
nice background electronic music. nothing incredible
A favorite of mine growing-up. Maybe fed up with a couple songs by overplaying it. Fav Songs : Jesus of Suburbia & Whatsername
Holy shit ! I did not expect to like this album so much. I honestly think "Smoke on the water" is my least favorite song on this record. The guitar solos by Ritchie Blackmore are insanely good. fav songs : Highway Star & Lazy
Boring crooner music. Not even interesting orchestrations. Especially with certain songs when compared to their original versions from Jacques Brel. I seriously don't understand why this album is on there and not any Brel's
Yeah, this is awful. Fuck Fred Durst. Why is this on this list ??? I thought we all agreed as a society that Limp Bizkit sucks.
Basic punk rock album. Nothing incredible, nothing terrible.
Jack Bruce + Eric Clapton + Ginger Baker = pure magic. After a couple records where I didn't understand why they were on the list, it's nice to get an absolute classic masterpiece. I unfortunately found the second half of the album quite underwhelming. However, great idea to end psychedelic album then with a drunk bar song. 7,5/10 fav songs : Tales of brave Ulysses
It may not be my favorite Pink Floyd album, but it's hard to deny that this is their magnum opus. All the album works as a whole, it is so coherent and built so incredibly well. The leitmotivs makes the listening really fluid and enjoyable. My only problem with it is that it's starts a little too slowly. 9/10 fav songs : Goodbye Blue Sky & Comfortably Numb (David Gilmoure's solo gives me chills every time)
Oh nice ! Swiss industrial rock ! too bad it wasn't really good. 4/10 (+1 for international language)
ok. it's nothing incredible but it's hard to say it's "bad". 8 tracks, 8 mid songs. 4,5/10
I really thought I could defend this album because it's rare to have art-rock but man this was just painful to listen to (even tough it's probably the point). Great soundtrack for my nightmares but apart from that, no.
Had one hour to kill in Lille, France waiting for my next train. sunny day, at a terrasse with a beer. time flew by with this album in my ears. fav songs : Mo' Onions & Behave Yourself 7,5/10
perfect album to listen to on holiday. fav songs : Sultans of Swing & Wild West End
nice album but nothing incredible 5,5/10 fav song : John Barleycorn (Must Die)
pretty mid. not my thing unfortunately
really not my thing. that post punk era was a weird time, for sure
It's not my favorite K-dot album but it's one of his most important, culturally speaking. Lyrically incredible and the production on this .... wow. I am biased because it came out when I was starting to really listen to US rap. A true icon, a true rapping legend. Can't wait to have TBAP later. and fuck Drake 9/10 fav songs : Good Kid & Now or Never
great energy, great songs, great live recording
how did they manage to make SYNTH-POP so boooooring. The vocals were really not my style. 3,5/10 (+1 for french lyrics)
Iconic. Title song a bit overplayed but still a classic. 7/10 fav songs : Victim of Love & Hotel California
Eddie's guitar solos are juste something else. A great representation of real hard rock. -1 for "Ice Cream Man" though so 8/10. fav songs : Atomic Punk & On Fire
fuck Kanye. absolute asshole. can't stand the dude. but music wise this is still good stuff. it sucks that the man that did it is a little Hitler now.
nice old school hip hop just not a fan of T's vocals
it's incredible to think that their last recorded album (Let it Be was recorded before) has a lot of their most famous and best songs. Listening now knowing they wouldn't make music together after that makes it even more impactful and meaningful. They all have their moment to shine (especially George's "Something") and that's why for me, this is their best album (maybe my favorite but for me objectively their best) 9,5/10 fav songs : I want you (She's so heavy) & Because. But let's be honest there are no bad songs on this record.
good live album. nothing special but good music
The harmonies on this album are just something out of this world. Just a little bit bored by the orchestration. 7,25/10 fav songs : California Dreamin' & Spanish Harlem
nice funk songs and great vocals from Mayfield. 7,5/10. fav songs : Little Child Running Wild & No thing on me
Banger after banger after banger after banger. When you like electronic music as much as I do : this is a absolute classic. Yes it's repetitive but so much thing is happening in the background and that makes each track incredibly rich and generous. 8/10 fav songs : The Rockafeller Skank & You're not from Brighton
How come most of the post punk albums on this list are so bland and boring ? 4/10 fav song : The Wait
Great prog rock album. Not my favorite from Yes, but it's still a good one. 8/10 fav song : the Starship Trooper trio
I was actually pretty disappointed by this record. I was expecting something incredible and I got something just ... good-ish. I like the lyrics I just think the music didn't really age well. 6,5/10 Fav songs : Venus in furs & Heroin
Fun album ! the remix of "Heads Will Roll" is clearly more iconic but the original is still nice. Will revisit it for sure. 8/10. Fav songs : Zero & Dragon Queen
Incredible album. First time listening to Zappa and I am not disappointed. The freedom of each note played, the pure madness of the guitar and sax solos, how each song has its own feel and identity. Will be coming back to it for sure. 8,5/10 fav songs : Peaches in Regalia & The Gumbo Variations
I prefer "Mezzazine" but this is still a great record. Just not that much of a trip-hop fan as other people are. 6,75/10 fav songs : Weather Storm & Better Things
I actually really liked this album. Nothing extraordinary but good instrumentals with good lyrics. Listening to it in the sun helps probably. 7/10 fav songs : Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere & Round and Round
nice funky songs. nice orchestrations and vocal harmonies. Just sad that the songs are really repetitive in the themes and rhythms. 6,5/10 fav songs : Don't Let him take your love from me & I heard it through the grapevine
Had no idea who this guy was but this is clearly my jam ! I really enjoyed this record. The sad songs hit hard and the general feel of it is really nice. 8,5/10 fav song : Where the Dreams go to Die & Silver Platter Club
As a Queen album and as a hard-rock album in general, this is disappointing. I was to listen to an album with none of their true hits but the mixing on some of these songs is really bad. 6/10 fav song : Some Day One Day & Ogre Battle/The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke (should have been one full song)
I knew I should have listened to Pavement's albums earlier in my life. Because this is really good. I can see why Noel Ghallager said it was one of his musical inspirations for his band Oasis. This band is clearly more experimental than the latter tough, which I enjoy a lot. 8,5/10 fav songs : Cut Your Hair & Fillmore Jive
nice rock album but nothing that blew my mind. 6,5/10 fav songs : Sharp Dressed Man & TV Dinners
I enjoyed this album more than the previous Velvet Underground. But it's still pretty underwhelming and it hasn't aged great. 6,5/10 fav song : Beginning to see the light & What Goes on
Hasn't aged a bit text-wise. Less of the case production-wise. Can't wait to have "Black Sunday" on the list. 8,5/10 fav songs : Light Another & Real Estate & Born to Get Busy
even tough Dolly is a icon, I just can't stand country music 😅 nice harmonies tough. 5/10 fav song : The Pain of Loving you & Hobo's Meditation
absolute masterpiece made by a genius. more than 30 years in the making. rest in peace. 8/10 fav songs : Heroes and Villains & Surf's Up
Nice funky album with great songs. Maybe a bit too repetitive on some songs but the experimental stuff in others is really interesting ! 7,5/10 fav songs : The Great Curve & Once in a Lifetime
Damn, 80s hip hop really has aged poorly ... text wise and flow wise. And "My Adidas" is a bad song. Just a commercial song. From the same era, LL Cool J sounds better now. 6/10 fav songs : Proud to be Black & You'll be Illin
First time listening to a full The Cure album. And even tough I wasn't blown away, I wasn't disappointed. Nice new-wave songs and I really liked the instrumental tracks. Robert Smith's vocals clearly isn't the only reason why this band is great, and that album shows that. 7,5/10 fav song : In your house & A Forest
first track was really annoying and I really wasn't expecting anything good after that .... and I was correct. Respect to the UK rap scene but this asn't aged well at all. 3,5/10 fav songs : Fix Up, Look Sharp
Amazing. Almost hypnotizing music. Works like one whole track. Could listen to it on repeat. 9,25/10. fav songs : Sindhi-Bhairavi
nice 90s rock album. enjoyed it as much as I expected. nothing incredible but still really enjoyable. 7,5/10 fav songs : Sissyneck & High 5
Iconic record. Hard to imagine this is his first "real" studio album (Infinite doesn't count) Not his best (that will be his second one the MMLP) but still great and cult material. So many crazy violent lyrics (the entire 97' Bonny and Clyde song for example). The production from Dr Dre and the Bass Brothers hasn't aged at all, in my opinion. 8,75/10 fav songs : Role Model & My Fault & Just don't give a fuck
not my thing but nothing horrible eather. a bit too corny for my taste. 5/10 fav songs : When the angels
Nice harmonies but I don't understand why this is on the list. Just sounds like a weird US Beatles rip-off. 6/10 fav songs : I Don't love you anymore & You Better Run
