Bob Marley at his height. No Woman, No Cry is quintessential Marley.
Starts out fast. Ends slow. Ray Charles with a big band. Sounds like an old movie soundtrack that Ray Charles wrote some tunes to go over. It's fine.
Long 2 albums. Second is a bunch of different takes of some songs - if you're interested in recording or just a huge little richard fan - this is probably awesome
incredible live album. One of the best live albums of any genre. I don't even much care for Nirvana, but this performance is great.
usually not a fan of live albums. But this puts you back in time. Enjoyable, but not stuff I know.
Weird. Sucks. 80's pop is trash, this is like a shitty 80's pop musical.
Standard 60's rock.
Lots of filler. Not bad for ambient noise. plateaus and didn't keep me entirely interested
Fiddlin Around is hilarious. Fine album. Follows a theme front to back. Usually not a fan of themed albums, but this isn't over the top.
Couldn't wait for this to be over. It's certainly 'alternative' as Apple music assumes that's it's genre. It's alternative from being good. Hesitant 1 star.
Jammin record
Spans the line of 60's pop/rock tunes to early 70's pop/rock stuff. Bluesy vibe to a lot of it in my opinion. Not terrible. Gang bang song is hilarious.
One of his best
Solid 70's heavy. Can certainly see the direction the heavier bands from rock are going, compared to the pop rock bands from the late 60's.
Not really for me. Some depressing, rainy day, slow and dark jams. Good covers. I enjoy the production, the sound created, helps give it that dark feeling
Has a couple of alright songs but it's mostly trash. Pennyroyal Tea is obviously much better on the Unplugged album. A whole bunch of nonsense mess that doesn't sound good like Radio Friendly, Tourette's, and Milk It. No good riffs, not good heavy, trying to be aggressive and different for 1993 but it just sounds like a jumbled up mass of suck.
80's pop. Too many synths and keys for my liking.
Mostly musical. Def not elevator music, more upbeat. Maybe a good album to toss on while you're prepping foods, or cleaning, or sitting outside Sat. morning. Good tunes. Prob. not something to re-listen to a lot.
Wanted to like it. Music is great. Not big on the vocals. Too much tremolo, trying too hard with the voice.
Radiohead just isn't for me. Sounds great though. Just sounds like radiohead.
It's got soul, but that voice is shot by this album
Some easy listening, adult 90's alt rock pop stuff. nah
yeah
Interesting. Hardly any vocals. Time changes, tempo changes, it's a fun jam album
yup
sat through another ~40 minutes of this band again, only confirming that this just ain't it for me. Don't care for the music, don't care for the digital bits, or electronic shit, or whatever you want to call it. It sounds incredibly whiney. Glad I listened to it just to confirm I have listened to plenty of radiohead and they just suck ass imo
Guilty pleasure. actually terrible. Kid rock says he doesn't role vo's on one song then the very next song he's talking about riding on them with 100 spokes. You clearly see he was here for the grift and by what he's become is proof. But damm I liked this shit when I was 12, and still now. Only kid rock album I will like though.
Perfect album for me.
This has more isntruments than most alt-pop stuff that I am used to from the 80's. That's refreshing. Not for me though - still 80's pop, it could very well have been early 90's too.
Message in a Bottle slaps. Duh. Any other day is a weird ass song. Not really my type of jams, but stylistically the musicians all sound incredible. Sting shreds that bass throughout the whole album
I guess people like this shit. Sounds like unorganized whiney chaos just to be counter culture for the sake of being different. Not once did I think "Man, at least there's a lot of talent on the instruments." The vocals are fingernails on a chalk board, the whole album is that imo. Not my shit at all.
There's a couple all-time hits. Has more of a 80's Pop Rock sound with synths and such. Title track comes off as sort of a support for professions that more conservative type folks would side eye and disrespect. Not at all similar to the Motown sound from her early career. Fine album.
This album sounds amazing. Funky, smooth, composition of everything sounds so fluid. Some emotional songs, some political, some upbeat, some easy listening.
Great front to back.
Didn't know I knew a couple "disco" songs but this has some known hits on it. I didn't get a super disco vibe like I prejudged. Pretty jamming. Clean production. Why do disco songs need to be so long as a whole?
Falls in line with 60's brit rock. Some sort of concept album which has ole boy telling a story throughout the album, as in just speaking, not with music. So you get to hear a lot of a british accent talking which to me sounds like nails on a chalk board. Unremarkable album.
Completely different tone of the Beach Boys than the popular stuff I know. Sounds great. The last three songs starting the Life of a Tree - sad as hell. Ends on a super somber note with those tunes. Loved it.
Spectacular band.
Great album front to back. Really didn't expect to like the entirety of the album, even though I know, and we all know, some of this huge hits on this album. Production sounds wonderful. The live version of Bye Bye Love is an odd placement for this album, but the crowd clapping sounds like them old folks had a hoot. Title track is somber and eerily pretty.
Listened to 2 consecutive full Simon and Garfunkel albums because of this site. This obviously doesn't sound as clean as their last album from 1970, but it's still good. The very last song on this album is the most important and relevant right now in 2025
First time I have really listened to Rolling Stones beyond the more popular singles - this band just doesn't do it for me, mostly because of mick jagger. Even the slower stuff on this album, which I wanted to like (I Got the Blues) seems washed out because of that broke Mick Jagger voice. It's like listening to your Aunt who think's she can sing, but absolutely cant, like that Phoebe chick from the show Friends. I do not get the appeal.
Early 90's hip hop beats that are still good. Tons of samples from this album have been used, some are very recognizable. Every song is a story. Flows are all distinct but work bad ass with each other.
!!!!!!! is a hardcore song? Lots of fluid Roots beats. Black Thought's flow is also fluid. Not a band that I ever seek out to listen to, but nothing to ever turn off. Rhymes and Ammo is a great one and favorited
The music is interesting, generally upbeat with a positive tone. The vocals however, sound as if Mick Jagger had a smoother voice and wanted to add some Alt-Pop to his catalog. This album falls under that category for me of those who try to sound weird or different for the sake of just being different. Which is fine - but they had to listen back to these vocals and all should have come to the same conclusion that - it sucks. Sounds like a direct influence on modern bands such as The Flaming Lips, with good music and a vocalist that just wants to destroy the tracks to be a 'seen' frontman. Some vocalists are blatantly high on their own supply. If they were unknown and playing a show at an establishment I happened to be at, I'd leave in about 3 songs.
Not for me, not huge on the Beatles. It's easy to listen to. For being their second release - they're starting to sound more polished. I am not too into the covers, but they're not terrible. Although the Roll Over Beethoven cover is played about as well as I can play it, and that's not great.
Musically I enjoy it. Vocals in my opinion lean on the other British Invasion bands closer to the Beatles, which isn't my preference opposed to others like the Animals or Hollies. Musically closer to bands like that opposed to a more simplified tunes like the beatles did well. Heavy blues influence throughout this album, I like the latter half a bit more.
Horn and organ heavy. Not sure what it's alternative to for 1997. Something for the Weekend lends itself to a 80's pop sound. Curious how a band with a handful of songs barely cracking any significant UK chart making a list for entire albums you need to hear before you die. Production sounds good at least. Plenty of big band influence. Lots of orchestra for 90's Alt. Dude has talked way too much through 3 songs. This will be the one and only time this will ever be intentionally played by me. Were they trying to have a modern 90's take on the rat pack? The talking on tracks is a common theme. This is in the bottom three of the minimal 54 albums I have listened to so far on this list. One of those that I really didn't want to have to finish, but ya got to hear it all.
Super easy listening to. Maybe look for this in vinyl for Saturday morning coffee on the deck.
Pink Floyd is great. One of their best albums.
Not for me. "Indy" vocals are, in my opinion, generally terrible. This is just that. Crappy over-drive, 4 chord, guitar parts are what this is made out of. Won't listen again and wish I didn't this time.
Female vocals over some decently produced, chill, slower, 90's hip hop beats, thought I would hate it, but wasn't hard to listen to. Still not really for me.
This album sounds like an SNL skit, but is this fella's serious tunes. Like a well produced band that played the prom on the Saved By The Bell Graduation show that Zach Attack lip synced to. Glad it wasn't a long listen
If someone asked me what a stereotypical punk sounding, female fronted, 80's band sounded like. I'd show them this.
Just making a bunch of sounds with instruments hoping it will be picked up by movie/tv or commercials. How does an album like this sell? Diddle around in some studio software and you too can make this album
Thought I would hate this. I didn't like it. But it wasn't as bad as I assumed. Doesn't sound like poor punk garbage by any means. And that's sort of what I assumed.
Great. Looked forward to listening to this as I generally am a fan of rock bands from this era due to my parents growing up. The Weight is obviously one of the most known songs ever, but I had never listen to a full album from The Band. Will listen again.
She's one of the greatest of all time for a reason. Great Motown Album. Full of hits.
Sounds like some generic pop rock from the early 70's. Wasn't impressed with anything. Vocals. Instrumentation. Its an hour and a half long - way too long for a very vanilla album. They must have also been impressed with new sound effects and synths at the time period, as a bunch is just thrown in to this album for no good reason it seems. Maybe that's why it's so long, they were experiment with absolutely everything. Editing goes a long way. I am sure if I was coming of age when this was released, I may have some nostalgia, or even if I had heard this when I was coming of age, I would have maybe had some fond memories of this. And hour and a half long.. goodness. It isn't terribly produced or anything of that nature. Sound quality is fine. Just long and very average in my opinion.
Biased about this album. Absolutely love it. Introduced me to what music could be and not staying within the lines of 'genres' 10/10 no notes. Every. Single. Song.
Ton of hits on this album. Could listen to Prince jam all the time.
an album of massive hits. Good tunes, sounds fun for the era - progressive for it's time. Great talent across the board with instruments.
I hadn't listened to any U2 other than the singles from the radio, television, and what have you. Going to be the only time I listen to it by choice. This adult rock shit just ain't for me. Woof
I've listened to most of this. Probably all of it. I will not listen to this to give this man any more streams. Kanye is a weird and terrible human.
What the fuck was this? 54 minutes of bullshit. No wonder they've got a million albums, anyone can toss this nonsense together. Why is this "alternative' and why is this on a list of albums people should listen to? This isn't creative. This isn't music. There are no hooks, no chorus, it's just ambient fucking noise. Glad I got to "Suggest Less" from the music app. Get this shit the fuck out of my ears. Pointless drivel is what this is.
Not for me. Sounds good though.
Not for me, though I didn't hate it like I assumed. 80's alt/pop/rock stuff aint for me.
It's quite literally just ambient sounds. Not white noise, or scenic river scene noises. Just randomly patterned tunes with some weird clips in it. I guess if you need noise?
Good production. Sounds fine. It's a lot of ambient tunes, sort of depressing vocals. A bit depressing all around. I'd say it's a good background album for an overcast or rainy day.
This has to be satire, right? an eclectic version of try hard if not.
Respect the hell out of this. It's fun, and it's old Johnny.
Good oldies. Buddy Holly is the jams. Fun fast piano
Some sitting around the campfire with an instrument and make up stories to sing ass music. Ain't for me.
Was expecting more of the album to have the "All I wanna Do" vibe, but its a lot more chill. Fine tunes, seems like could be fun to learn and play on guitar too
90's Brit Pop Rock in the same veins as Oasis, The Verve, Blur. But - it ain't oasis...
