McCartney
Paul McCartneyHmmm.
Hmmm.
Had heard of the group before, so at first, I was excited to listen to their album. However, to be honest, I was disappointed. They sound like a bunch of smart kids trying to be badass. It's just not for me.
I wasn't even born when this album was released, but I can imagine being a 14-year old kid, in my room with doors locked, blasting this on my Walkman while wearing headphones. This hit me with so much nostalgia. However, this is not my favorite Green Day album. There are some tracks that are absolute bangers, others are just meh. Might give them another listen or two though. So I'm giving this album a 4-star rating.
No wonder her voice sounded familiar, I’ve actually heard one of her songs in GTA: San Andreas. Overall, I enjoyed the album, great for drinking coffee on a cold, foggy morning. Just don't dwell too much on the lyrics, you will feel bad for her.
I'm not a fan of Jazz or Samba, but this Jazz Samba album, I think, might be my gateway into other albums from these genres. Perfect to end my day after a long work.
This album sounds like an epilogue of an ABBA musical.
The album started off great, like the energy went up pretty fast. However, after just three tracks, it suddenly died down. The rest of the tracks are still decent, though, and "The Last Resort" is okay for a closing track. But they're kinda forgettable.
Not very familiar with the thrash metal genre, but I enjoyed listening to it, better than I expected. I just felt like it needed more bass; instruments and vocals didn't blend that well. That could’ve made the album sound even better. Favorite tracks: I Am The Law, Indians
They definitely lived up to the album title, the tracks go in "all directions." It's not really a bad thing, though. This is the first album I've heard from them, so it gave me an idea of how versatile they are as an artist. Favorite tracks: Papa Was A Rollin' Stone, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Do Your Thing
This is the first full album I’ve listened to after knowing them for a while through their compilation albums, and I can say this is the first time I’ve really appreciated them beyond the impression that they’re just a pop band for teenyboppers. Favorite tracks: Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, With A Little Help From My Friends, When I'm Sixty Four
Is this a good album? Yes. Is it memorable? Not really, it kinda just melts away in my mind. Good for setting up the vibe, though.
To be honest, judging by the album art alone, I thought this was a hip-hop album. Then, I hit play. Oh boy. "Intro" had me like, "okay, this sounds interesting. I like it so far." Then track after track, I realized I probably should’ve stopped after the first one. Favorite track: Intro
Uhmm, I don't know. I mean the guitar riffs are great, but the album just feels all over the place. Would not recommend it if it's your first time listening to this band. Favorite tracks: Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)
As someone whose first language isn’t English, I can’t barely catch what he's saying. This album sounds like it's produced by a teenager who is being grounded by his parents for a week, then found a hip-hop instrumental CD in his drawer, and decides to rap over it.
I was torn between giving this album a three or four-star rating. If I heard the tracks individually, I don't think I would appreciate them that much. But together? It was a totally different experience. Favorite tracks: 15 Step, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, All I Need
I've listened to her stuff before, and to be honest, I wasn't a fan of her voice. Now, I finally have the chance to give her another shot. Surprisingly, I had fun listening to this album, and her voice isn’t as bad as I thought before, but still not a fan. I think it’s going to be an acquired taste for me. Favorite tracks: Human Behavior, Venus As A Boy, There Is More To Life Than This, Big Time Sensuality
I like the vibe of the songs, but that’s about it. Nothing really stands out.
Chris Cornell's voice is just raw and powerful, it honestly makes me appreciate rock music even more. I enjoyed the second half of Superunknown. It’s also mixed way cleaner than Nevermind, in my opinion. But if those two albums were to fight to the death, Nevermind would still win by a close margin. It’s got no-skip tracks and a much better flow overall. Favorite tracks: Let Me Drown, I Tried To Live, Like Suicide
Another album from someone I'm not familiar with. To be honest, I didn't enjoy it on my first listen. But it seems like you have to be at the right place at the right time...and in the right mood to appreciate it. I really enjoy listening to New Star In The Sky, followed by Le Voyage de Penelope. The bassline is great, and the vocals are surreal. It felt like it took me to another dimension and floated with the stars. However, I can't believe they compared this album to Daft Punk's Homework. They are completely different! Favorite tracks: La femme d'argent, New Star In The Sky, Le Voyage de Penelope
As someone who only knew "Beautiful Ones," I was caught off guard by this album, though I'm not sure if that's in a good or a bad way. The first half felt kinda meh to me, but I realized that it's more of a slow-burn album. The real treasure comes at the end. Edit: On my second listen, I kinda appreciate the opening tracks now. However, the pacing still dips in the middle. Favorite tracks: The Asphalt Road, Still Life
This is one of those albums that feels like a chore to get through. The longest track, "This Is What She's Like" is so long and all over the place. I have no idea what the artist is trying to make me feel or interpret. Sometimes, I feel like this should be just an instrumental album. But still, I wouldn't listen to it. Favorite track: Listen To Me
I get it. This is an influential album, the one that literally coined the genre. That's why it's in the list. I actually enjoyed it a bit, hence the extra star. However, it's just not my cup of tea. Hope you get it, too.
I really don’t know how others rate albums. Is it based on influence? Its history? Rawness? The production? Or just the overall listening experience? This album is kinda a mixed bag for me. The good tracks are interesting, to be fair, but the others just are not my cup of tea.
What a great way to start my week: by listening to this album. I don’t even know what else to say. The way the instruments are played, his smooth, soothing voice… I actually had to stop what I was doing just to feel it. This is what I call music.
I was actually surprised when I played this album. I know Meat Loaf from "I’d Do Anything for Love", but based on the album art, I was expecting some hard rock or heavy metal. But noooo, it was a full theatrical act. The extravagant musicality, the powerful vocals, and the emotional lyrics really stood out. But I will rate it 4 stars, because I want to listen to it again...whenever I'm ready for it.
I have no issues with repetitive music, if anything. I actually enjoy it. I love Daft Punk, Air, The Prodigy, and other similar artists. But this one? I really tried to like this album. I even compared it to Daft Punk’s least-loved studio album, Human After All (‘Revolution’ kinda reminds me of ‘The Prime Time of Your Life’). But no matter how many times I listen, it just feels flat and boring to me. I admit, some are interesting, like Revolution (minus the vocals) and Suicide. Other than that, I will toss them in the fire pit.
