Easy listening. Sexy music. Not too memorable though but very soulful voice. Does drag a bit but good background music.
Quite boring and all sounded very samey. Not memorable.
Simple cowboy songs. Was nervous when listening to The Hanging Tree due to the connotations.
Liked In the Valley.
Not quite mariachi music with repetitive story telling.
Enjoyed listening to this. Knew a few of their songs beforehand but really liked Don't Stop after Waterfall as it messed with my mind with all the reverse.
Enjoyed it. Guitars were technical and interesting. Pleasantly surprised when a song with a Welsh name popped up, "Bron-yr-aur"!
Groovy and psychedelic. Enjoyed the experimental sounds. Got more mainstream towards the end but can definitely feel the influences...
Gritty, distorted and screechy vocals. I like the rawness and catchy rhythms. Whips you into an energetic, punky frenzy. Then a dramatic tempo slow down for the latter half. Fun album.
Slow, uninteresting and doesn't go anywhere. Sounds very samey all the way through. Repetitive and boring. 1.
Extremely boring and repetitive. Doesn't go anywhere. He really loves a two chord repetitive structure. Was excited to hear the beginnings of some bossa nova on Missing, but then it was quickly very obvious that it was just two boring chords throughout. 1/5
Distorted guitars with added dissonance. I liked parts of the clashes and chaos but it just goes on for way too long. The lady singing feels more like shouting and it does start to grate after the first phrase. Album duration felt like an age to listen to, especially with numerous 7 minute tracks. Noisy for the sake of noise. 2/5
Anarchy and chaos but kept interesting. High energy music to get you into the zone and fired up. 4/5
Enjoyed the melodic metal. Really impressed by the intricate guitars and finger tapping techniques. Great tempo throughout for a steady head banging experience. Great double bass pedal action on the drums. Love a good time signature change here and there. Impressed with my first proper venture into Metallica. 5/5
What a mess. Awful noise. The sound of the non-stop saxophones were grating. First album I had to skip through. It was all the same mess. No structure, nothing memorable, just a cacophony of caca. Even Tidal didn't want it on their platform so had to listen to it on YouTube. 1/5
Really interesting musically. The melodic phrases, melodies and chord progression in their songs are intriguing, it doesn't go where you'd think it would go. Love the 80s synths and the whole atmos around it. An intelligent band worthy of the "sophisti-pop" label. 4/5
To begin with, I was confused in whether to listen to the Iggy mix or the Bowie mix. Listened to both and the Iggy mix was compressed to hell and distorted so badly, but added to its charm. The Bowie mix sounded really tinny and thin but was a lot clearer and crisp. I carried on with the Iggy mix.
Overall it sounded generic glam rock and wasn't that engaged with it but it wasn't a hard listen. 3/5
Easy listening. Country and western but popular. Not too memorable but has a good feel about it. 3/5
Love the melancholic chord progressions. Clever and interesting throughout. Kevin Carter what a gem. Didn't know many of their hits were crammed onto this one album! 5/5
Is it the Swingin' 60s or Britpop 90s?? Love the fun sound with clever blue notes and kooky chord progressions. Enjoyed rocking out to the high energy and groovy vibes. 5/5
Great voice but bored of the album. Literal one trick pony and same, slow sound all the way through. 2/5
Hard hitting synths with mechanical 80s beats. The sound is repetitive but this concept album from Ms Jackson spreads a good message. There's probably an accompanying dance move for each song. 3/5
Good music but the vocals were jarring and sounded really amateurish karaoke. A shame because I enjoyed the Britpop indie guitar vibes. 3/5
Generic music from the late 60s. Sounds like Bob Dylan. Some good soul and blue notes here and there. 3/5
Not too memorable but giving off The Smiths and Nick Cave vibes. Vocals do seem to pop out and doesn't quite gel with the music. 3/5
Funky and psychedelic. Strange but interesting. Like the grooves a lot but can easily turn into a bad trip. 4/5
Good classic rock with a good groove. Songs were quite long. Intricate guitars and just a good overall vibe.
4/5
Like the feel of this fun rock and roll album. Reminiscent of the late 50s, early 60s. Shocked when I first heard the organ in Pump It Up (It was used as a sample for Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child.) Enjoyed the organ sound and the easy listening, upbeat pop. Can see the influence it had on the Two Tone movement and future indie bands. 5/5
Repetitive and boring. Apart from the two big hits, which are good songs but also repetitive, the rest of the album didn't go anywhere. Really didn't like the flute improv solo. Didn't realise the original Back to Life was acapella. 2/5
Extremely wanky. Tries to sound like a mix of The Beatles and The Beach Boys when they were experimenting with psychedelics in the studio, but they somehow managed to make it intolerable. Musically interesting but not memorable. Definitely not an easy listen. 2/5
Enjoyed the sadness of it all. Really well written with depressingly poignant lyrics and music to accompany. 5/5
Cyclical, repetitive and boring. All the songs sound identical. Same key, same sound. 30 minutes have never felt longer. 1/5
Arty, whimsical and has interesting use of instruments. Definitely sounds 80s with the synths but spans a few genres. Enjoyed the music but her voice does tend to grate. 4/5
Discordant, angsty, grungy. Some parts were ok, some other parts were unmemorable. 3/5
Slow, atmospheric, sampled music on a vicious loop. Extremely repetitive and generic enough to be bland and uninteresting. His liberal use of blues vocal samples does feel exploitative. A couple of good tracks here and there but the rest of the beige album drags it down. 2/5
Repetitive, slow and doesn't go anywhere. 1/5
Annoying, repetitive beats on loop. His unintelligible, squeaky voice and weird synth SFX really grate on me. Couldn't listen to an hour of this. 1/5
Aggression, homophobia, and misogyny. Musically engaging but not a great message to be blasting out. 2/5
Fun rock and roll. Love his voice. Can totally see why there was so much hysteria around him. 4/5
Fun, energetic music to rock out to. Entertaining and catchy with really impressive guitar riffs and bass licks. 4/5
I'm sure he's revolutionary but his voice is really squeaky and grates on me. The music is samey throughout with a really annoying harmonica. 3/5
Funky, groovy music. Intelligent and interesting with Stevie's wonderful voice. Very talented but the album felt very long and some of his songs went on for an age. Pastime paradise blew my mind though. 4/5
Slow and boring. Could've been musically interesting but ended up really dull with dreary vocals. 2/5
Basic and bland. Nothing that stands out but ok as background fodder. 3/5
Fun and interesting slice of 90s britpop life. Quite a few hits on this but some really dodgy lyrics. 4/5
Whimsical and fantastical. Parts were extremely unmemorable though. 3/5
Funky, quirky. Long instrumentals with lots of random sounds but not enough to hook me. 3/5
Folky rock. Goes on for a bit but some parts are fun. 3/5
All sounds very samey until the end. Enjoyed bits but was slow. 3/5
Weird use of synths on classical music. Odd combo as it tries to modernise Mussorgsky.
2/5
I like the vibraphone and the great chord progressions. A bit long as it seems more of an experimental type of tango with improv. Lots of emotion from the violinist. 3/5
His voice grated on me. Generic, average rock and roll. Wasn't too fussed. 3/5
