Quite jarring on first listen, especially without context and when youre unsure what to expect. Second time round when I realised what the concept of a murder ballad is I found it quite amusing. It's weird and vulgar, and I probably won't listen to it again, but it's also kinda good? Light 3 for me

Fast Car and baby can i hold you, wow what a throwback. All time tracks
Great title track, but otherwise faded to the background
So this is what blues is.. Not too bad!
After a few listens it really starts to hit different, not sure I class it as rock but it has elements of it No weak spots, just a good ol' album. Top tracks: you aint the problem, piano joint, final days, solid ground
Great opening with beetlebum and song 02, but they do carry the album. Drops off slightly from there. Some gorrilaz vibes in the vocals and production on Theme from Retro and one other track I don't remember the name of. Not bad, but not great. Light 3 from me. Top tracks: beetlebum, song 2, death of a party
Crazy that this is his 7th album and I'm only listening to him now properly for the first time. Easy to see why he's so iconic. Some great tracks and good album overall, but probably a bit too long. 3.5 Top tracks: Bennie and the Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Saturday Night's Alright
My first foray into country music, and I can see the appeal. He has a great voice, it's a chill, calming, poetic sound and I think it would be amazing to listen to live, in a country bar in Dallas. Top Tracks: Time of a Preacher, I couldn't believe it was true, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, Can I sleep in your arms. Red headed ranger Somewhere between a 3 and 4 so far. 18th studio album is crazy btw. Very strong 3.8 Don't cross me.
To state the obvious, no matter how foreign an album sounds at the start, the more you listen, the better it gets, and none more so than this. Top tracks: so long marianne, hey that's no way to say goodbye, teachers
The band name and wikepedia description is a bit of a red herring, this is good listening and not what I expected at all. Feeling a strong 3 to a light 4. Really wanna give it a 4 but will settle for 3. Top tracks : blue moon, sweet jane
Quite jarring on first listen, especially without context and when youre unsure what to expect. Second time round when I realised what the concept of a murder ballad is I found it quite amusing. It's weird and vulgar, and I probably won't listen to it again, but it's also kinda good? Light 3 for me
Aside from the first 3 tracks, not a lot to like for me. but 3 good track is still at least 3 stars in my book. OK monitor is a banger, and there's definitely more than just 3 good tracks on here, just not a real postpunk/goth rock kinda guy. 3/5 Top tracks: Spellbound, Into the Light, Arabian Knights, monitor, night shift
It's fine, but a bit boring. 2 Top track: if you think you're lonely now
Was wondering when I'd get my first Bowie. This is my first time listening to a David Bowie album and it's not at all what I expected, isn't David Bowie a generational pop/rock superstar?? Didn't he headline Glastonbury? He barely speaks in the second half of this album, but for me it's the better half.. I don't think i've repeated a track more than Subterraneans so far on this journey. Light 4. Top tracks: sound and vision, be my wife, subterraneans
What a fun album, amazing instrumental jazz funk vibes and good vocals too. Only 4 tracks but quite long and no filler. Solid 4 from 4 Fave track: pitche mi
Gimme this album as an instrumental and it's probably close to a 5. Paint it black and mother's little helper are saving graces
Surprisingly good! Preferred the more bluesy back half of this album 3/5 Top tracks: Take me with you when you go, bluderbuss
It's a bit meh, can't lie. Couple decent tracks but I feel like there is better Neil Young to be heard. Top tracks: my my hey hey, ride my llama
Starts very spacey and gorrilaz like, come together gives massive attack , then goes dark and orchestral and jazz like and ends a bit noisy and velvet undergroundy but a little more organised noise like as if there were 30 more years of musical advancement since velvet. Pretty good! Strong 4 out of 5 Top tracks: ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space, broken heart, no God only religion
As my introduction to R.E.M, I appreciate it's a good album, but it seems like for a lot of people this album means a lot more to them than it means to me. 3/5 top tracks: pop song 89, I remember california
Couldn't really vibe to this one. 2/5 Top track: Help Me, Car on a Hill
I respect it 3/5 Top tracks: Smoke on the Water, When a Blind Man Cries
Was a little unsure about how I felt about this album in the end, but I think the A-Side is mostly pretty good, even the more whimsical and silly tracks like Octopus's Garden and Maxwells Silver Hammer. The B-Side is obviously not as strong and imo a bit random but somehow still good, it is The Beatles I suppose. Deep down I want to give it a 3, but some of these hits are undeniable, so I'll give it a 4. 4/5 Top tracks: come together, here comes the sun, I Want You (She's So Heavy), because
Came across the vinyl at the markets on the weekend, nearly bought it. Thank God I didn't, absolute snooze fest. Besides track one obviously and maybe new kid in town and wasted time (reprise) 2/5
I prefer the new Gorillaz album 2/5
If you wanna get the rhythm then you gotta join a tribe, this album is a vibe. 4/5 Top tracks: luck of Lucien, can I kick it?, Mr muhammed
Not too shabby, quite funny, if not a little misogynistic. 3/5 Top tracks: the girls and the dogs
Love Radiohead and love this album, but admittedly, Thom Yorke does sound a little whiny and droney at times. Amazing album nonetheless, and bookended by some absolute bangers. Everything in it's right place being a contender for best opening track ever!! 4.5/5 Top tracks: Everything in it's right place, How to disappear completely, Idioteque, Motion picture soundtrack.
This album is like a FIFA game soundtrack, but the songs that sort of just play in the background, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, they're just no Song 02, Jerk it out, Kids etc. At the 11th hour, this went from a 2 to a 3. 3/5 Top tracks: Haiti, Une Annee Sans Lumiere, Neighbourhood #3, Crown of Love
I don't understand where some of the reviews for this album have come from. This is a really nice downtempo electronic album with some great soundscapes, vocals and elements of classical, jazz, soul and hip-hop. I genuinely feel like had this album had someone else's name on it who is more prominent, the reception in here would have been very different. It's all in the first half though, second half is pretty unremarkable, but first half is good, Tides especially is some top tier stuff. Reminded me of Talvin Singh - OK which i got a couple of days ago and won the mercury prize, but i really didn't rate that album, this is miles better. 3/5 Top Tracks: Letting go, Tides, Pilgrim
Fully appreciate this album and Paul Simon's voice is goated and I love half the songs on this album, but it took some listening and the other half fell a little short for me and including the title track and I was gonna give this a 3 but somehow talked myself into a 4 and don't ask why. 4/5 Top tracks: El Condor Pasa, So Long Frank Lloyd Wright, The Boxer, The Only Living Boy in New York
Decent David Bowie album! 3/5 Top Tracks: Nightclubbing, China Doll
Bopped my head to it more than I should for a 2 star album, so I'll give it a 3. ROCK LOBSTER! 3/5 Top Tracks: Rock Lobster, Downtown
I don't love it, but I also don't hate it?? Way too grungy for me, but I can see why you might like it if that's your thing. First and last tracks are decent. The o-men is a bit terrifying.. 2/5 Top tracks: sweet loaf, 22 going on 23
If only the whole album was how it started. This really is a 3 star given the range of genres on show here. 3/5 Top tracks: alternate route to Vulcan street, a touch sensitive
Finally, the first 5 star album! Was only listening to this for the first time a few months ago, and thinking it has to be one of the greatest albums ever made. It definitely is! 5/5 Top tracks: all of them
Blues probably my least favourite style, but it ain't a bad album. 3/5 Top tracks: Love the one you're with, Cherokee
Pretty meh, bar the first song and the Spanish song 2.5/5 Top tracks: gotta get up, si no estas tu
Some cool tracks on here. Strong 3.5 3/5 Top Tracks: Start, I Don't Remember, Games Without Frontiers, Lead a Normal Life
