1999 by Prince
Jul 18 2026

This album rules. Prince is a musical treasure, a sensual explorer - musically sonically and otherwise. 💜

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jul 18 2026

This album really surprised me in the best way. I had it as a teenager, but only really listened to Hurt and Closer. Listening to it from start to finish was quite an amazing and notable journey. The musicianship is absolutely incredible. Listening in headphones was a joy. It’s difficult, complicated, emotional, electric, technical all at once. Very layered. I’m embarrassed it took this long to get to it.

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Jul 19 2026

I liked it :) I’ve seen Willie Colon in the vinyl library of the jazz radio station I work at and never listened. I’m so glad I listened to this - I’m inspired to listen to more.

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Jul 20 2026

I understand its significance. Musically, it’s not for me.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 22 2026

I love S&G and have loved them since I was a very young child as my parents exposed me to them being fans themselves. Simon is an incredible songwriter and only continues to showcase that throughout his career and the harmonies of S&G is unmatched. Nobody sounds like them together it's incredible. I read some reviews that some people found this music boring, it's hard for me to imagine it. Yes it's subdued, it's folk, it's soft and acoustic, but the words and the lyrics are anything but boring - they're introspective, challenging, eloquent, full of vivid visuals. I love this album and honestly I love pretty much everything S&G did. Major highlights are The Dangling Conversation, The 59th St. Bridge Song, Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall, A Poem on the Underground Wall. PS has anyone heard the live in nyc S&G album? oh man solid gold.

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Jul 23 2026

Ladies First is one of my fav hip hop tracks of all time. Love a lady’s pov in a sea of a male dominated genre - All Hail the Queen indeed. So much tasty jazz sampling tooooo

Jul 24 2026

I’m a jazzhead and Mingus was always challenging for me. This is top tier orchestration and composition tho and I understand its significance here and in the jazz world, but it’s not a jazz album that I personally crave

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Jul 25 2026

Oh this is literally my favorite Stevie Wonder album - absolute GOLD what an incredible musical genius and treasure Stevie Wonder is. The way this album flows is chef’s kiss I seriously can’t get enough and it remains on heavy rotation, as in I listened to it 3 times last week. Every song on this album is perfect and sooooo tight. He was like what 21 when he released this album? Amazing. So far this is my favorite day of the 1001 album journey

Jul 26 2026

Loved this when I was 15, still love it at 45. Honestly we needed more alt-grrrl music in the 90’s. Thx Hole for being one of them. This was an important record of the grunge era. despite all the bad publicity Courtney Love got she fuckn rocks hard! What a treat to revisit this :)

Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso
Jul 27 2026

I don’t know this dude, but I love psychedelic and I love bossa. highly enjoyable, will def revisit. I could listen to Brazilian music for forever.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Jul 28 2026

Metal is not my jam, but I liked this more than I’ve liked any other metal so far. Far superior to Metallica and Rage (not metal I know, but a band I don’t like). There’s substance here. I think I prefer British metal over American metal.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jul 29 2026

I like the Stones & I like Beggers Banquet. I listened to them a lot in college and I forgot about how obsessed I was with ‘Factory Girl’ until just now revisiting this album. As a whole this record is pretty okay, but whoever said that the stones mostly produce a couple hits per album that they’re known for was spot on. All records except exile on main st which is banger after banger in cohesive banger flow. That album better be on this list :/

Sincere by Mj Cole
Jul 31 2026

This album reluctantly grew on me. At first I was like what? why? Then y no fault of my own I started head boppin and the groove took control. I love this project so much - case in point. I had no idea I could unknowingly head bop to uk garage.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Aug 02 2026

Hell YEAH this rules!!!!

Real Life by Magazine
Aug 03 2026

Okay I LOVE this! What is this lovely gem? I had no idea but I know now!

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Aug 04 2026

I appreciate the intricate and lush orchestration within and around the music of this album, but I can’t really stand his sappy sad ass syrupy voice and the content of his lyrics - ugh sooo not for me. If you’re a big fan, I gotta tell you there’s way better substance elsewhere. Like try Joni Mitchell? This album is gonna be a no from me, dawg.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Aug 05 2026

Wow. I really loved this one & I have no idea who this is until now. Amazing. I loved it more as it played like it just got better and better.

Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon
Aug 06 2026

At first I was like what the ??? then Bear Witness came on and I was like okay wait a minute …. now it’s on repeat. Mind is blown - Kool Keith is interesting. I also appreciate and celebrate concept albums - it’s just this concept just creeps me out a lil bit no shade on creative expression though. Creepin ppl out is part of art sometimes. I looove old school record scratching too okaaaaay Dr Octagon I didn’t even think I’d make it through one full round but it’s 2 hours later and I’m on my third listen.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Aug 07 2026

This was so very lovely just like Dolly! Traveling Man was a hoot!

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Aug 08 2026

It’s going to a no from me dawg. Yes the intros and outros of these songs have variety but once you get to the center it, they all sound the same to me. Their influences are much better imho

Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Aug 09 2026

not the best, not the worst. It grew on me and I kinda like it but it reminds me of a guy who sucks who looooooved this band and it’s kind of tainted.

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Aug 11 2026

HELL YEAH!!!!! I love this record and The Gogo’s and Belinda Carlisle foreverrrrrr! Also the gogo’s behind the music was one of the best of that series imho

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Aug 12 2026

I like this! But I like Rod Stewart esp the Faces era soooooo - idk I love that scratchy voice. It’s not like the most remarkable rock, but it can be playing comfortably in the background and I will never be annoyed by that :) thx Rod

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Aug 13 2026

Oh hell yes all D’Angelo records get five stars

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Aug 14 2026

Eww no.

The Clash by The Clash
Aug 15 2026

Police and Thieves, 5 stars. Rest of the album, 3.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 16 2026

This was a surprise. A lot of heavy feels alongside gorgeous instrumentation. I don’t think I will listen to this album again, but I’m glad I got this one time with it. I’ve never heard anything like this before.

Aug 17 2026

Is it weird that I looooove music, but I’m not a big JC fan? he just doesn’t do it for me but I honor his legacy

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Aug 19 2026

the reviews on here are hilarious - like wow it hurts so hard to listen to three hours of beautiful music. Oh you’re soooo busy. Haters gonna hate. I love Ella and Gershwin is pretty ok too. I had absolutely no problem playing this all the way through AND I enjoyed it! Nobody will ever croon like Ella Fitzgerald!!! Respect!

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Aug 20 2026

Meh

Aug 21 2026

I liked it! Not a big fan of EDM but I’ve got a special place for 90s EDM bc I was a young teenager listening to it at that time and so this felt nostalgic of my Moby & Prodigy dazzzze. Plus it just kinda cooks

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Aug 22 2026

It’s ok

Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk
Aug 23 2026

Wow I loved this - going to go hang with it some more!

Bone Machine by Tom Waits
Aug 24 2026

Tom Waits is an acquired taste. Just not my acquired taste

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Aug 25 2026

I love this album - The Beat is my second fav EC song of all time

Music by Madonna
Aug 26 2026

I love Madonna and this was pretty cool

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

This was just lovely.

NEU! 75 by Neu!
Aug 28 2026

Idk it was kinda unremarkable. Sometimes I wonder if stuff just gets thrown in here bc in reality there’s really only 100 albums you need to hear before you die?

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Aug 29 2026

I aaaaalmost kind of like it but at the end of the day it’s gotta be a no from me, dawg

American Idiot by Green Day
Aug 31 2026

meh I only kind of liked Dookie so this is deffff gonna be a no from me dawg
