Poesía Básica
Album Summary

This album has been submitted by a user and is not included in any edition of the book.

Extrechinato y Tú (Spanish pronunciation: [e(ɣ)stɾetʃiˈnato j ˈtu]) was a musical project by Robe Iniesta (Extremoduro), Iñaki "Uoho" Antón (Platero y Tú and Extremoduro) and Fito Cabrales (Platero y Tú and Fito & Fitipaldis). It is a tribute to the poet Manolo Chinato. The unique album of this supergroup Poesía Básica puts music to the poems by Manolo Chinato so most of the lyrics are verses made by him.

Ay dios mio this is DRAMATIC in the best way. Wish I knew what they were saying but also kind of nice just listening to the sounds the words make.

I hardly understand anything - but the drive and the beat really get to me. Nice choice, will certainly put this on during a dinner with friends when we open the 3rd bottle of wine.

Cool Spanish music and poetry. Rocky and folky and full of feeling.

Kind of dug this a lot. Never heard of any of the musicians or the bands, but I understand this is a Spanish supergroup of sorts. I wish I understood what they were saying, but still enjoyed it nonetheless.

8/10. Crap, I keep listening to albums and then forgetting to review them day of. But this was quite good.

I barely understood anything, but I enjoyed the driving hard rock feel punctuated by poetry. This is definitely worth another listen. Thanks for recommending this album; I certainly wouldn’t have come across it myself.

Poesía más rock en castellano. Un 4.

This is just crazy. If this is introduced as a spanish-language collection of poems done to music, you would never guess what you were about to experience. This is wild and fun. Though I'm not sure i'm likely to listen to this again, the music was really solid and so much fun. Enjoyed!

Not at all what I was expecting. I am not sure I entirely enjoyed this but it had some fun guitar rock and then some cinematically instrumental tracks that kept things interesting, so I think its work rounding up.

Spanish music - as in Spain - is truly behind a veil as far as Anglo America is concerned. But I've liked poem-focused music before, so it's a shame to have no way to penetrate that quality of Poesía Básica. There's certainly an arc from reason to exploits to celebration; More than that I can't say. As rock music it has quite a bit of character, always growly.

I've often written on this list about the challenge of albums in languages I don't speak, a whole dimension of the music lost. It's almost worse in Spansish, the closest I get to a second language, but nowhere near fluently enough to get more than a fraction of this fast paced and presumably heavily idiomatic writing. It sounded good anyway. The music ran a gamut - I liked a lot of it very well but there were also a lot of pretty cliché rock chops in there.

Certainly some rad sections here! Unfortunately, it's a bit challenging to appreciate spoken word in a language you don't speak.

This is certainly interesting. Sadly, I can't understand the words as I don't speak Spanish, so I won't comment on that. Musically it's interesting, strangely it brings to mind the Alan Parsons Project for me. Kind of good, but also kind of generic sounding. The singing I don't really care for - not very pleasant to my ears. Overall this is just okay for me, but I'm glad I listened to it. 3 stars.

What's up with all native language bands? Nothing against it, but it just sounds so weird. Especially when it's also prog. In the end, not bad.

I like the proggy rock music. Not keen on the spoken vocal rather than sung vocal. Might listen to one of the two bands that merged for this music.

Not what I expected going from the album cover. Don't understand Spanish but the coolness shines through. The main list should have included more albums like this as it feels like a genuine discovery listening rather than 5 from the same band. 3.1

Rueing the fact my Spanish is so rusty since this album makes it clear there's a pretty epic narrative being spun across the tracks. Even without the added context, this was an entertaining listen – not every song broke the mold I would expect for the genre, but most made me pay attention through the novel instrumental choices and genre mixes. Great listen and a good model for the international representation that should have been on the official project.

Didn't read up of they were actually Spanish or not, but unlike the Spanish football team, this album only gets 3 stars

I did like this one, a nice departure to get some more Latin music (Spanish in particular), though I can't say too much of it stuck out or grabbed me. Still, decent album. Favorite tracks: Jugete de Amor. Album art: Is that a naked old man riding a horse? Powerful stuff. 3/5

A union between members of Extremoduro and Platero y Tú to pay tribute to the poet Manolo Chinato. A curiosity from the early century, interesting for fans of both bands, but in this context any of the best works of Extremo or Platero would have made more sense to be included

This made me think of that Tarantino/Rodriguez movie From Dusk Till Dawn. But after having heard this album I'm way more inclined to go watch that movie again, than listining to this album ever again.

Yo no soy comprendo. Me no quero es. I will say though I’ve never heard a Mexican rock album so that was new to me. It was decent to hear but huge drawback of just not understanding it. But at least I tried. 2.5/10
