Living Colour just doesn't do it for me. It sounds like the most generic 80's rock with absolutely nothing interesting about it. 1.5/5
I suppose it is ok. Honestly the main attraction is that it isn't english and has a great Latin feel...not sure I would even entertain otherwise. 2/5
Better than I anticipated, especially when it started out terribly. Had some interesting moments...Art Metal. 2/5
Weird album...did a great job of achieving the mission statement. Haunting and surreal. Good ambient/background music. 3.5/5
Super overrated. Have always felt this could be in my wheelhouse, but may is it boring. 1.5/5
Not nearly as good as the debut, the album still has some interesting moment. The production and style is uniquely Glass Animals. 3.5/5
I suppose it is better than most metal since it has a more melodic element, but still just god awful. 1/5
Terrible. Europop but even worse. 1/5
Great pub rock. Really fun. I am sure it is amazing live. 4.5/5
Meh...whole lot of meh in this one. 2/5
Riddle: when does an hour seem infinitely longer than an hour. A: when you have to listen to Nightwish. 1/5
Ok I suppose. If your into sterile unremarkable 70s rock. 2/5
Such an amazing album. This is the album that rekindled my enjoyment of hard music. Tunes with energy and an ear for melody...such a great combo. Also an A++ live show. Look forward to seeing what they do in the future! 5/5
Dug it far more than anticipated. 4/5
Classic. Better than I anticipated 4/5
Intense. But a decent listen. 3.5/5
Extremely Canadian. I think that says it all. That isn’t pejorative either. 2.5/5
Pretty solid for one I had never heard of. Started off a lot stronger than the tail end. 3.5/5
I imagine this would be pretty decent if you're into blues. Big confession time...I just don't understand the allure of blues. Every song sounds the same to me and even that sound is just mediocre. 2/5
This one really surprised me. This is everything I had wanted Elvis Costello to be over the (seemingly) countless albums on the original list. This was fun, catchy and engaging. 4.5/5
Very easy listening jazz, but interesting enough that it doesn't sound like elevator music. I can understand why this one should have been on the list. 4/5
Another one I had never had any exposure to. It sounds very off its era, and that isn't a bad thing. 3/5
Very similar to other Krautrock on the official list. Not sure it does much for me than any Kraftwerk album, but still a worthwhile listen. 3/5
This is one that I have had exposure to over the years, but never really dove into it. I found it better than I remembered from early listens, but still nothing that is lasting or impactful. 2/5
I know it's Queen...and Queen is great....but this album is not great. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a Queen head in the mid 70s and be sorrily disappointed in this one after the Night at the Opera Masterpiece. 2.5/5
Decent, although I scratch my itch in this type of music through Go Go Penguin (or even BADBADNOTGOOD). Not unhappy I listened to it. 3/5
Pretty awesome. Have been enjoying harder music again lately and this fit the bill. 4/5
Not the most exceptional Cure album (that is an extremely high bar) it is still pretty amazing for such a late period album. 4/5
My previous experiences with BNL mostly had to do with the live Rock Spectacle album. While a lot of those songs are present on this album, for whatever reason I think they pop more in the live album. That being said, the songcraft and whimsicalness of this album is top notch, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the complete package. 4.5/5
I just don't get it. I know this was one of the most critically heralded albums of 2025, but it was just so BORING. I realize I'm not a poptimist, but nothing about this was even catchy or interesting. 1/5
Ween...freaking weirdos. 3/5
Love the vibe and attitude of the album. Seems like a fun band with catching songs. 3.5/5
Alas...yet again foiled by the Hip. Maybe it is my lack of Canadian DNA, but everything about this band just screams average to me. 3/5
Didn't like it in 1995, don't like it now. Definitely held back by oversaturation. I do have to admit the music is well composed, but I'm just not a pop bro. 2/5
Not an easy listen, but I found myself enjoying it. The music almost became meditative. 2.5/5
This was one of the only aughts Pitchfork darlings that I never really got into at the time. Shame on me. I must not have given a serious enough listen because this one is pretty great. 4/5
Man...this fits exactly into what I would describe as "mehester"core circa 1998. As someone who tried to push his high school band in a ska-punk direction (and is from ~ 2 hrs away from Chicago) it is shocking to me I have never heard of Slapstick before today. Great fun tunes. Shame they broke up before really getting started. 4.5/5
Expected TJL to be a little more unlistenable than it ended up being. It wasn't bad, but also nothing I would return to. 2/5
It is atmospheric and moody? Is it anything remarkable in either of those characteristics...no. Great movie, good music, boring stand alone listen. 1.5/5
Felt the same way about this one as I did back in 2011...snoozefest. The songs are ok for what they are but it is certainly nothing special. 1.5/5
I was completed Shpongled. Honestly this is the type of album I enjoy on this list...one I had never been exposed to in the past that opens me up to new types of music. 3/5
I wouldn't ever choose to listen to a jazz fusion (rates below jam bands in my book) but this isn't unlistenable. 2/5
DARKSIDE is one of those elusive projects...I always really want to love it but it never quite gets above a "huh interesting" for me. 3/5
I am not entirely adverse to Ambient, but this one was just a little too repetitive. Long songs without a lot of variation. Was glad I was reading while listening or I would have lost all attention. 1.5/5
Perhaps slightly better than I expected, but still utter rot. 1.5/5
I typically love Bluegrass. Any while I much prefer Trampled by Turtles when it comes to modern takes, this one was solid overall. 3.5/5
Solid folk...Emmylou is such a beautiful song. Overall it is nice to listen to but I don't think it is great. 3.5/5
When I see albums like this on this list (especially user submitted) I usually roll my eyes. Most metal of this ilk is so incredibly "samey" that it is always chore to listen to. Not this one. Enjoyed the blend of many different genres...definitely seemed like folk metal. 3.5/5
Blue Album...stone cold killer of a album. Top 10 on my all time list. No skips. Such amazing song writing and production to match. 5/5
Amazing album. While I may rate it below "We have the facts..." it is still an absolute classic. 5/5
Really long. I appreciate it for what it is, but what it is is something I hope to never listen to again. 1.5/5
Wow! That was god awful! Sounds like it comes from the most budget Ren Faire troupe. 1/5
Weird...not entirely terrible, but certainly a difficult listen. 2/5
Had tried to get into Low in the past, but had only medium success. However, something clicked for me over the 2nd half of this album and I really enjoyed it. Moody, and you have to be in the right mood, but I think I will come back to this one. 4/5
Better than I recall...another where I owned this in my youth but didn't give it enough time when I purchased. 3/5
Exactly what you think it would be. Nothing bad, but would only ever be situational. 2.5/5
Have tried and tried and tried, but I just don't love Phish. I even owned this album in my youth, but something about 30 min jam sessions just doesn't work for me. 2.5/5
Nothing special or really all that interesting about this one. It is just there...1.5/5
Extremely interesting concept. 2.5/5
Can see the influence it had on others, but it never really took off like I expected. 3/5
A surprisingly good album at the time, this one holds up pretty well. HL has such cool voice with a ton of range. Would have loved to see these two team up again. 4/5
Not my cup of tea, but it seem ok for what it was. 1.5/5
Iconic. Shocking it wasn't on the original list. One of those temporary moments of genius. 5/5
Fontaines is a great band. Romance is probably only my 3rd or 4th favorite by them though. That being said it is still a wonderful album. 4.5/5
This one tries a little too hard. Much prefer Girl Talk. 2.5/5
Love the energy of the Stooges...audio quality almost makes this unlistenable though. 3/5
Nothing special. Not one I had heard of before. 2/5
Just soooo boring. Maybe the most sterile, uninspired and generic rock schlock I have heard. 1/5
Like other JM...which isn't all that bad. Probably nothing I go back to though. 3/5
Much better than I anticipated! Not really all that proggy..definitely funky. Really can hear the AB influence come through, and also helped me understand his impact on so many Talking Heads albums as well. 4/5
Average singer songwriter far. Never felt that Jason Molina was all that special...but have tried so many times. 2.5/5
Not my cup of tea, but not terrible either. 2/5
Looks like it should be metal, but it was somehow worse. Nothing interesting or redeeming about this lame rock. 1/5
I have listed to some Sea Power in the past...this album seemed to have more range than other offerings. 3/5
One of the better BBoys albums in my opinion. Love the jammy musical pieces. 3.5/5
This one surprised me! Had a lot going on and would probably benefit from multiple listens. 4/5
Madvillany was the extent of my Doom exposure prior to this listen. Liked this far more...really interesting production and rapping. 3.5/5
Seemed like a boring take on singer songwriter emo. 2/5
I am by no means a Poptimist, but if I get a hankering, CRJ is usually my go-to. Emotion has some absolute bangers that make for a really fun listen. 4.5/5
Likely my favorite TFC album. Starts off insanely strong, and while it does tail off in the 2nd half, is still an amazing listen. 5/5
Fun album...love SW. Ben is able to take everything that is great about the Ramones and amplify it to an 11. While I listened to far more Boogada at the time, the MBH and onward stuff is just lighter (and ultimately better imo). The song crafting and pop sensibilities are off the chart. 4.5/5
Such a classic. As a pretty big emo fan in circa 2001, I was always aware of American Football but it wasn't something that I ever delved into with any seriousness. Have come to enjoy it much more in the past 5 years. 4/5
To think I was actually excited to give this one a try...nothing catchy about it, just boring, down tempo electro pop (now with choirs!). Almost too self-serious at times. I found myself counting down the minutes until it was over so I could move to something else. 1/5
