Popular Reviews

Alive 2007 by Daft Punk

Fun album...really makes me regret not seeing them on this tour. 4/5

Flood by They Might Be Giants

Birdhouse in your Soul is always such an earworm for me....great song. While I don't love TMBG the same as many others of my age, I have grown to appreciate them more in recent years. 4/5

Violet by The Birthday Massacre

Am I allow to give negatives? I wish I could give negative. It is just so lame. A poor man's Evanessence (which is already just a terrible band). 1/5

GLOW ON by Turnstile

Such an amazing album. This is the album that rekindled my enjoyment of hard music. Tunes with energy and an ear for melody...such a great combo. Also an A++ live show. Look forward to seeing what they do in the future! 5/5

Look Sharp! by Joe Jackson

Love the vibe and attitude of the album. Seems like a fun band with catching songs. 3.5/5

Time's Up by Living Colour
Dec 08 2025

Living Colour just doesn't do it for me. It sounds like the most generic 80's rock with absolutely nothing interesting about it. 1.5/5

Afrociberdelia by Chico Science
Dec 09 2025

I suppose it is ok. Honestly the main attraction is that it isn't english and has a great Latin feel...not sure I would even entertain otherwise. 2/5

Savage Sinusoid by Igorrr
Dec 10 2025

Better than I anticipated, especially when it started out terribly. Had some interesting moments...Art Metal. 2/5

Dec 11 2025

Weird album...did a great job of achieving the mission statement. Haunting and surreal. Good ambient/background music. 3.5/5

The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
Dec 12 2025

Super overrated. Have always felt this could be in my wheelhouse, but may is it boring. 1.5/5

How To Be A Human Being by Glass Animals
Dec 15 2025

Not nearly as good as the debut, the album still has some interesting moment. The production and style is uniquely Glass Animals. 3.5/5

City Of Evil by Avenged Sevenfold
Dec 16 2025

I suppose it is better than most metal since it has a more melodic element, but still just god awful. 1/5

L'autre... by Mylène Farmer
Dec 17 2025

Terrible. Europop but even worse. 1/5

Comfort To Me by Amyl and The Sniffers
Dec 18 2025

Great pub rock. Really fun. I am sure it is amazing live. 4.5/5

Rêver mieux by Daniel Bélanger
Dec 19 2025

Meh...whole lot of meh in this one. 2/5

Once by Nightwish
Dec 22 2025

Riddle: when does an hour seem infinitely longer than an hour. A: when you have to listen to Nightwish. 1/5

John Dawson Winter III by Johnny Winter
Dec 23 2025

Ok I suppose. If your into sterile unremarkable 70s rock. 2/5

GLOW ON by Turnstile
Dec 24 2025

Such an amazing album. This is the album that rekindled my enjoyment of hard music. Tunes with energy and an ear for melody...such a great combo. Also an A++ live show. Look forward to seeing what they do in the future! 5/5

Version 2.0 by Garbage
Dec 25 2025

Dug it far more than anticipated. 4/5

Stage Four by Touché Amoré
Dec 29 2025

Intense. But a decent listen. 3.5/5

God Shuffled His Feet by Crash Test Dummies
Dec 30 2025

Extremely Canadian. I think that says it all. That isn’t pejorative either. 2.5/5

St. Jude by Courteeners
Dec 31 2025

Pretty solid for one I had never heard of. Started off a lot stronger than the tail end. 3.5/5

10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads by Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Jan 01 2026

I imagine this would be pretty decent if you're into blues. Big confession time...I just don't understand the allure of blues. Every song sounds the same to me and even that sound is just mediocre. 2/5

Squeezing Out Sparks by Graham Parker
Jan 02 2026

This one really surprised me. This is everything I had wanted Elvis Costello to be over the (seemingly) countless albums on the original list. This was fun, catchy and engaging. 4.5/5

Chet by Chet Baker
Jan 05 2026

Very easy listening jazz, but interesting enough that it doesn't sound like elevator music. I can understand why this one should have been on the list. 4/5

Cold Fact by Rodríguez
Jan 06 2026

Another one I had never had any exposure to. It sounds very off its era, and that isn't a bad thing. 3/5

Zuckerzeit by Cluster
Jan 07 2026

Very similar to other Krautrock on the official list. Not sure it does much for me than any Kraftwerk album, but still a worthwhile listen. 3/5

The Animal Years by Josh Ritter
Jan 08 2026

This is one that I have had exposure to over the years, but never really dove into it. I found it better than I remembered from early listens, but still nothing that is lasting or impactful. 2/5

Jan 09 2026

I know it's Queen...and Queen is great....but this album is not great. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a Queen head in the mid 70s and be sorrily disappointed in this one after the Night at the Opera Masterpiece. 2.5/5

We Like It Here by Snarky Puppy
Jan 12 2026

Decent, although I scratch my itch in this type of music through Go Go Penguin (or even BADBADNOTGOOD). Not unhappy I listened to it. 3/5

Repetition by Unwound
Jan 13 2026

Pretty awesome. Have been enjoying harder music again lately and this fit the bill. 4/5

Songs Of A Lost World by The Cure
Jan 14 2026

Not the most exceptional Cure album (that is an extremely high bar) it is still pretty amazing for such a late period album. 4/5

Gordon by Barenaked Ladies
Jan 15 2026

My previous experiences with BNL mostly had to do with the live Rock Spectacle album. While a lot of those songs are present on this album, for whatever reason I think they pop more in the live album. That being said, the songcraft and whimsicalness of this album is top notch, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the complete package. 4.5/5

LUX by ROSALÍA
Jan 16 2026

I just don't get it. I know this was one of the most critically heralded albums of 2025, but it was just so BORING. I realize I'm not a poptimist, but nothing about this was even catchy or interesting. 1/5

Look Sharp! by Joe Jackson
Jan 20 2026

Love the vibe and attitude of the album. Seems like a fun band with catching songs. 3.5/5

Fully Completely by The Tragically Hip
Jan 21 2026

Alas...yet again foiled by the Hip. Maybe it is my lack of Canadian DNA, but everything about this band just screams average to me. 3/5

Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt
Jan 22 2026

Didn't like it in 1995, don't like it now. Definitely held back by oversaturation. I do have to admit the music is well composed, but I'm just not a pop bro. 2/5

Jan 23 2026

Not an easy listen, but I found myself enjoying it. The music almost became meditative. 2.5/5

Jan 26 2026

This was one of the only aughts Pitchfork darlings that I never really got into at the time. Shame on me. I must not have given a serious enough listen because this one is pretty great. 4/5

Slapstick by Slapstick
Jan 27 2026

Man...this fits exactly into what I would describe as "mehester"core circa 1998. As someone who tried to push his high school band in a ska-punk direction (and is from ~ 2 hrs away from Chicago) it is shocking to me I have never heard of Slapstick before today. Great fun tunes. Shame they broke up before really getting started. 4.5/5

Goat by The Jesus Lizard
Jan 28 2026

Expected TJL to be a little more unlistenable than it ended up being. It wasn't bad, but also nothing I would return to. 2/5

Blade Runner by Vangelis
Jan 29 2026

It is atmospheric and moody? Is it anything remarkable in either of those characteristics...no. Great movie, good music, boring stand alone listen. 1.5/5

Barton Hollow by The Civil Wars
Jan 30 2026

Felt the same way about this one as I did back in 2011...snoozefest. The songs are ok for what they are but it is certainly nothing special. 1.5/5

Are You Shpongled? by Shpongle
Feb 02 2026

I was completed Shpongled. Honestly this is the type of album I enjoy on this list...one I had never been exposed to in the past that opens me up to new types of music. 3/5

Shack-man by Medeski, Martin & Wood
Feb 03 2026

I wouldn't ever choose to listen to a jazz fusion (rates below jam bands in my book) but this isn't unlistenable. 2/5

Psychic by DARKSIDE
Feb 04 2026

DARKSIDE is one of those elusive projects...I always really want to love it but it never quite gets above a "huh interesting" for me. 3/5

Pop by GAS
Feb 05 2026

I am not entirely adverse to Ambient, but this one was just a little too repetitive. Long songs without a lot of variation. Was glad I was reading while listening or I would have lost all attention. 1.5/5

Millennium by Backstreet Boys
Feb 06 2026

Perhaps slightly better than I expected, but still utter rot. 1.5/5

Highway Prayers by Billy Strings
Feb 09 2026

I typically love Bluegrass. Any while I much prefer Trampled by Turtles when it comes to modern takes, this one was solid overall. 3.5/5

The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit
Feb 10 2026

Solid folk...Emmylou is such a beautiful song. Overall it is nice to listen to but I don't think it is great. 3.5/5

The Mantle by Agalloch
Feb 11 2026

When I see albums like this on this list (especially user submitted) I usually roll my eyes. Most metal of this ilk is so incredibly "samey" that it is always chore to listen to. Not this one. Enjoyed the blend of many different genres...definitely seemed like folk metal. 3.5/5

Weezer by Weezer
Feb 12 2026

Blue Album...stone cold killer of a album. Top 10 on my all time list. No skips. Such amazing song writing and production to match. 5/5

Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie
Feb 13 2026

Amazing album. While I may rate it below "We have the facts..." it is still an absolute classic. 5/5

The art of Amalia Rodrigues by Amália Rodrigues
Feb 16 2026

Really long. I appreciate it for what it is, but what it is is something I hope to never listen to again. 1.5/5

Ruin by The Amazing Devil
Feb 17 2026

Wow! That was god awful! Sounds like it comes from the most budget Ren Faire troupe. 1/5

Sing To God by Cardiacs
Feb 18 2026

Weird...not entirely terrible, but certainly a difficult listen. 2/5

Feb 20 2026

Had tried to get into Low in the past, but had only medium success. However, something clicked for me over the 2nd half of this album and I really enjoyed it. Moody, and you have to be in the right mood, but I think I will come back to this one. 4/5

How to Operate With a Blown Mind by Lo Fidelity Allstars
Feb 23 2026

Better than I recall...another where I owned this in my youth but didn't give it enough time when I purchased. 3/5

Whipped Cream & Other Delights by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass
Feb 24 2026

Exactly what you think it would be. Nothing bad, but would only ever be situational. 2.5/5

A Live One by Phish
Feb 25 2026

Have tried and tried and tried, but I just don't love Phish. I even owned this album in my youth, but something about 30 min jam sessions just doesn't work for me. 2.5/5

Fear of a Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree
Feb 26 2026

Nothing special or really all that interesting about this one. It is just there...1.5/5

Latin Mass by Os Mundi
Feb 27 2026

Extremely interesting concept. 2.5/5

Mar 02 2026

Can see the influence it had on others, but it never really took off like I expected. 3/5

I Had a Dream That You Were Mine by Hamilton Leithauser
Mar 03 2026

A surprisingly good album at the time, this one holds up pretty well. HL has such cool voice with a ton of range. Would have loved to see these two team up again. 4/5

Symbolic by Death
Mar 04 2026

Not my cup of tea, but it seem ok for what it was. 1.5/5

Spinvis by Spinvis
Mar 05 2026

Background music. 1.5/5

Give Up by The Postal Service
Mar 06 2026

Iconic. Shocking it wasn't on the original list. One of those temporary moments of genius. 5/5

Romance by Fontaines D.C.
Mar 09 2026

Fontaines is a great band. Romance is probably only my 3rd or 4th favorite by them though. That being said it is still a wonderful album. 4.5/5

Mouth Sounds by Neil Cicierega
Mar 10 2026

This one tries a little too hard. Much prefer Girl Talk. 2.5/5

Metallic K.O. by The Stooges
Mar 11 2026

Love the energy of the Stooges...audio quality almost makes this unlistenable though. 3/5

Triage by David Baerwald
Mar 12 2026

Nothing special. Not one I had heard of before. 2/5

Sound Awake by Karnivool
Mar 13 2026

Just soooo boring. Maybe the most sterile, uninspired and generic rock schlock I have heard. 1/5

Grace And Danger by John Martyn
Mar 16 2026

Like other JM...which isn't all that bad. Probably nothing I go back to though. 3/5

Discipline by King Crimson
Mar 17 2026

Much better than I anticipated! Not really all that proggy..definitely funky. Really can hear the AB influence come through, and also helped me understand his impact on so many Talking Heads albums as well. 4/5

The Lioness by Songs: Ohia
Mar 18 2026

Average singer songwriter far. Never felt that Jason Molina was all that special...but have tried so many times. 2.5/5

Watch Out! by Alexisonfire
Mar 19 2026

Not my cup of tea, but not terrible either. 2/5

Afraid Of Sunlight by Marillion
Mar 20 2026

Looks like it should be metal, but it was somehow worse. Nothing interesting or redeeming about this lame rock. 1/5

Mar 23 2026

I have listed to some Sea Power in the past...this album seemed to have more range than other offerings. 3/5

Check Your Head by Beastie Boys
Mar 24 2026

One of the better BBoys albums in my opinion. Love the jammy musical pieces. 3.5/5

Because the Internet by Childish Gambino
Mar 25 2026

This one surprised me! Had a lot going on and would probably benefit from multiple listens. 4/5

Mm..Food by MF DOOM
Mar 26 2026

Madvillany was the extent of my Doom exposure prior to this listen. Liked this far more...really interesting production and rapping. 3.5/5

Control by Pedro The Lion
Mar 27 2026

Seemed like a boring take on singer songwriter emo. 2/5

Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen
Mar 30 2026

I am by no means a Poptimist, but if I get a hankering, CRJ is usually my go-to. Emotion has some absolute bangers that make for a really fun listen. 4.5/5

Grand Prix by Teenage Fanclub
Mar 31 2026

Likely my favorite TFC album. Starts off insanely strong, and while it does tail off in the 2nd half, is still an amazing listen. 5/5

My Brain Hurts by Screeching Weasel
Apr 01 2026

Fun album...love SW. Ben is able to take everything that is great about the Ramones and amplify it to an 11. While I listened to far more Boogada at the time, the MBH and onward stuff is just lighter (and ultimately better imo). The song crafting and pop sensibilities are off the chart. 4.5/5

American Football by American Football
Apr 02 2026

Such a classic. As a pretty big emo fan in circa 2001, I was always aware of American Football but it wasn't something that I ever delved into with any seriousness. Have come to enjoy it much more in the past 5 years. 4/5

A Complicated Woman by Self Esteem
Apr 03 2026

To think I was actually excited to give this one a try...nothing catchy about it, just boring, down tempo electro pop (now with choirs!). Almost too self-serious at times. I found myself counting down the minutes until it was over so I could move to something else. 1/5

World Of Echo by Arthur Russell
Apr 06 2026

Really really interesting. Reminds me of Suicide in a way. I was surprised I hadn't had any exposure to it in the past but really glad I know it now. 4/5

Flood by They Might Be Giants
Apr 07 2026

Birdhouse in your Soul is always such an earworm for me....great song. While I don't love TMBG the same as many others of my age, I have grown to appreciate them more in recent years. 4/5

Ida Con Snock by Michael Hurley
Apr 08 2026

Had some very interesting moments...different sounding folk. 3.5/5

The Empyrean by John Frusciante
Apr 09 2026

Wow...that was bad. 1/5

Contra by Vampire Weekend
Apr 10 2026

While likely the worst out of what I consider the "Classic" VW albums, it still has some great points and is an awesome listen. 4/5

Moa Anbessa by Getatchew Mekurya
Apr 13 2026

Had some very interesting moments, but a tad too long (and hard to find)! 2.5/5

Rainbow Brain by GRiZ
Apr 14 2026

There was still music like this being made in 2021?!? I had hope it died out a long time ago. Regardless, this one is pretty terrible. 1/5

A City Dressed In Dynamite by That Handsome Devil
Apr 16 2026

Exceptionally strange. Major Screaming Jay Hawkins vibes, which was very cool for ~2 songs before it really wore on me. 1.5/5

The Hazards of Love by The Decemberists
Apr 17 2026

While note my favorite Decemberists album, certainly a fun one (prefer all 4 proceeding albums by a significant margin). I don't know if I fully appreciated this album until I saw them perform it live. I think the overall structure suffers a little bit from them trying to force the cohesive theme and rock opera elements, but certainly pockets of great songmanship. Love The Rake Song. 4/5

Sunbather by Deafheaven
Apr 20 2026

So many times I have listened to this album trying to love it. This last listen was probably my favorite. While I don't think I will ever embrace the screaming, the drone-gazey background and interesting music structure make this a solid album. I also saw them open for another band in the past year...great show!! 4/5

Images and Words by Dream Theater
Apr 21 2026

Really bad. I appreciate the musicianship, but the songs are incredibly boring. Prog is hit or miss with me, and metal is pretty much a miss with me, so I guess prog x metal = double miss for me. 1.5/5

Transmissions by STARSET
Apr 22 2026

I feel like this album is only included as some sort of weird social experiment to see how bad can an album be but we can still make people listen to it. This is nothing more than an overproduced poor man’s emo tinged Linkin Park. 1/5

Fear Inoculum by TOOL
Apr 23 2026

Tool is one I have never fully gotten into. Seems like I would like it more than I do…but it is largely ok. 3/5

For All Happy Endings by David & The Citizens
Apr 24 2026

Pretty unremarkable. "just there" music but not unpleasing. 1.5/5

AmarElo by Emicida
Apr 27 2026

The main novelty for me was that it was in Portuguese (I think). Otherwise it is run of the mill hip-hop adjacent music. 2/5

Stupid Dream by Porcupine Tree
Apr 28 2026

Kind of boring. Not my jam.. 1.5/5

New York by Lou Reed
Apr 29 2026

Loved it! Up there with the top Velvets. Dare I say I may have enjoyed it more than the other Lou Reed on the main list. Great attitude and music. 4.5/5

Stretch 2 by Arca
Apr 30 2026

Pretty wild...kind of standard Arca though. Given their influence and work with so many big artists I have tried to listen in the past. Just never really find myself enjoying. 1.5/5

Espaloian by Itoiz
May 01 2026

I am sure it means a lot to some, but to me it was just mediocre and boring. 1.5/5

Up To Here by The Tragically Hip
May 04 2026

Seems to be standard TH. They were one band who I never really listened to in the past and was really excited to be exposed to give how big they are in Canada. It is just fine, but not sure why they are elevated to national treasure all the time. 3.5/5

Deadwing by Porcupine Tree
May 05 2026

Yet ANOTHER Porcupine Tree?! Who knew? This one may have been the best though...even though I think 3 albums is entirely unnecessary. 3/5

The Presidents of The United States of America by The Presidents Of The United States Of America
May 06 2026

Is it possible that this album could be underrated at this point? Just a great collection of innovative and fun songs. By no means are POTUSOA the most talented musicians (if I remember they may only even use 3 strings on the guitar! and fewer on bass!) but they make it up with pure attitude. Great addition to the list! 4.5/5

Portishead by Portishead
May 07 2026

Not as good as dummy, but still a solid listen. Appreciate that they moved from a sample based sound to a performed/written style but it still keeps a similar feel. 4/5

Only God Was Above Us by Vampire Weekend
May 08 2026

A really solid album. Enjoyed it more on this listen than I had in the past. Not as great as Modern Vampires but very enjoyable. 4/5

10,000 Days by TOOL
May 11 2026

More Tool. Pretty much the same as all the other Tool. Don’t need this much Tool. 2/5

May 12 2026

I really don’t like Muse, but this wasn’t as bad as I expected. 2.5/5

Auri by Auri
May 13 2026

Really nothing special. 2/5

F♯ A♯ ∞ by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
May 14 2026

Some of the best background music out there. Have always enjoyed GY!BE, but hadn't listened to this one before. 3.5/5

Silence Yourself by Savages
May 15 2026

Another that I have always wanted to like more than I actually do. It is fine, but nothing more than average imo. 3/5

O by Damien Rice
May 18 2026

Pretty solid for what it is. Always loved Cannonball. 3.5/5

Revolution by Q65
May 20 2026

Better than I expected. Fun classic rock type music. 3.5/5

Save Rock And Roll by Fall Out Boy
May 21 2026

Just absolute trash...listening to this actually made me angry via its sheer awfulness. Soulless, over produced drivel that has all the drawbacks of a top 10 pop album without any of the benefits. 1/5

Last Splash by The Breeders
May 22 2026

I really love some of the Breeders output, however I don't feel it holds up across full albums most of the time. Last Splash is no different...the highs are extremely high, but some of the middles really drag on. 3.5/5

Piledriver by Status Quo
May 25 2026

Was able to cobble this one together from various sources. Decent enough...surprised that they are so unknown in the US despite their relative "bigness" in the UK where my only previous understanding was from a Teenage Fanclub lyric. Fun songs. 3/5

First Utterance by Comus
May 26 2026

Pretty weird...definitely a worthwhile listen. Glad I got exposed to this one. 3.5/5

The Beautiful Letdown by Switchfoot
May 27 2026

Better than I expected...but had REALLY low expectations. 2.5/5

Englabörn by Jóhann Jóhannsson
May 28 2026

Have always enjoys Johannsson...one of the better contemporary classical composers out there. Really enjoyed his recent Reqieum recording. This was solid, but not spectacular. 3.5/5

Geogaddi by Boards of Canada
May 29 2026

Love BoC. Pretty timely that this one popped up on the day before the new release. While not quite as iconic as Music has the rights, this one has some great tunes. 4.5/5

Emotional Mugger by Ty Segall
Jun 01 2026

Decent...Ty Segall is always one that I go into a listen expecting to like more than what I do in the end. 3/5

Tomb by Angelo De Augustine
Jun 02 2026

My only exposure to Angelo was through his joint release with Sufjan Stevens in '21. Loved that one so surprised I didn't go and visit his catalogue. This was super moody, but for the right occasion it hits perfectly. 4.5/5

Solid State Survivor by YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA
Jun 03 2026

This one was super interesting...never had been on my radar before but very much ahead of it's time. Really fun. 4/5

McDonald and Giles by Ian McDonald
Jun 04 2026

It was ok...probably better than I anticipated but nothing I would ever return to. 2.5/5

Mother Earth's Plantasia by Mort Garson
Jun 05 2026

I think this album generally gets a bump or two in people's mind because of the novelty behind the concept. That being said, the music is still interesting at times. 3/5

Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo
Jun 08 2026

I like Oingo Boingo's sound, but it is a little too much of the same thing on this album. Could benefit from a little diversity. 3/5

O Monstro Precisa De Amigos by Ornatos Violeta
Jun 09 2026

Not my thing. It just sounded like really bad 90s alternative rock with the double whammy of the fact I couldn't understand it at all. 1.5/5

Dancing In The Dragon's Jaws by Bruce Cockburn
Jun 10 2026

Much better than I expected. Maybe it caught in the right place at the right time. Fun sound with great melody. Would be open to more in his catalogue. 3.5/5

Come On Over by Shania Twain
Jun 11 2026

Can completely see why this is one of the highest selling albums of all time. At times I can't unhear the whole Mutt Lange of it all...it does sound like an even more poppy Def Leppard. 3.5/5

A1A by Jimmy Buffett
Jun 12 2026

Suprised that this is the go-to for Jimmy Buffet. Pretty standard Buffet fare. 2.5/5

Moanin' by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers
Jun 15 2026

Solid jazz, but not that different than any other jazz of its type that I've listened to in the past. 3/5

HEY WHAT by Low
Jun 16 2026

I prefer older Low vs. this late, super scuzzy and loud Low. This was fine, but nothing I would really return to. 2.5/5

Alive 2007 by Daft Punk
Jun 17 2026

Fun album...really makes me regret not seeing them on this tour. 4/5

Artpop by Lady Gaga
Jun 18 2026

I don't skew pop, but this was even a little lacking for what I come to expect. Applause is a banger and a great song, but honestly would be fine never hearing any of the other songs the rest of my life. 1.5/5

Okonokos by My Morning Jacket
Jun 19 2026

Have listened to a decent amount of MMJ in the past (primarily Z and It Still Moves). I liked this live album better than any of those albums individually...definitely a great live band. 3.5/5

Blizzard Of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne
Jun 22 2026

Crazy Train is an incredible song. The rest bordered on decent to slightly below meh. Honestly was a bit disappointed. 2.5/5

Aim and Ignite by fun.
Jun 23 2026

fun. just isn't my thing. I find them slightly annoying. 2/5

The Simple Plan by August is Falling
Jun 24 2026

EP. Nothing remotely interesting about it. Inability to tell if the original recommender is even serious. 1/5

Moffou by Salif Keita
Jun 25 2026

I have always appreciated the music outside the anglosphere on this list. This is another great example. Fantastic musicianship and songcraft. 3.5/5

Violet by The Birthday Massacre
Jun 26 2026

Am I allow to give negatives? I wish I could give negative. It is just so lame. A poor man's Evanessence (which is already just a terrible band). 1/5

The Great Outdoors Jam by Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Jun 30 2026

Standard Phish wannabe fare. Musicianship was really impressive. 2.5/5

Six by Mansun
Jul 01 2026

Better than I expected. Felt like OK Computer era Radiohead rip offs at time. 2.5/5

Roadhouse 01 by Allan Rayman
Jul 02 2026

A little too samey...and that vibe isn't one for me. 1.5/5

Yeti by Amon Düül II
Jul 03 2026

Had some interesting moments. I think their place as early Krautrock pioneers make them a worthwhile addition. 2.5/5

Ultravisitor by Squarepusher
Jul 06 2026

How I wish I could appreciate Squarepusher more. Just to random and noise like. I need melody. 2/5

Jul 07 2026

Knew the Sopranos song, but the rest was surprisingly fun. They have a vibe and execute it well. Maybe a little too samey by the end. 3.5/5

The Italian Flag by Prolapse
Jul 08 2026

Great post punk/early indie hybrid. New bad to me but would be happy for some of these tunes to come up on a random mix. 4/5

Cleopatra by The Lumineers
Jul 09 2026

Love me some Lumineers. While I would probably opt for the first album this one also has a ton of great songs/melodies. Really solid in concert as well! 4.5/5

Milo Goes to College by Descendents
Jul 10 2026

Most of my exposure to Descendents is from their early 90s output. Hadn't ever gone back to their debut and I wish I had. Great energy! 4.5/5

Jul 13 2026

Hot to Go is an absolute banger. The rest of the album has some decent spots but I felt it was like 3-4 songs to long. 2.5/5

Beautiful Midnight by Matthew Good Band
Jul 14 2026

Very interesting to me that most of these Canadian bands of this era have such a similar sound. And it is mostly BLEH. 2/5

The Ideal Crash by dEUS
Jul 15 2026

Never heard of this band, but enjoyed this far more than I expected to. Solid indie type rock that isn't over polished and has a great sound. 4/5

Jul 16 2026

Another one I have wanted to get into more than I have had success with. Conor Obherst just seems slightly overrated to me. 2.5/5

Days Of Future Passed by The Moody Blues
Jul 17 2026

Couple of big songs...really theatrical at parts that made it seem more movie soundtrack than album. 2.5/5

In Between Dreams by Jack Johnson
Jul 20 2026

It's Jack Johnson. This album sounds like every other one I have ever heard. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not a very exciting thing either. Just there. 2/5

News at 11 by Cat System Corp.
Jul 21 2026

Wasn't aware of the vaporwave subgenre but I'm down. Dug the dreamy and warped asthetic. 3/5

WE ARE by Jon Batiste
Jul 22 2026

Very little interesting or appealing about this one. It was just there. 1.5/5

Jul 23 2026

I like this type of jazz in small increments. A whole album was a bit much but we definitely needed something like this on the greater list so I applaud its inclusion. 3/5

August And Everything After by Counting Crows
Jul 24 2026

Great album. Listening today I am always surprised by what became popular on Alternative Radio in the mid nineties. 4.5/5

Field Music by Field Music
Jul 27 2026

New to me. Interesting, but nothing groundbreaking. 3.5/5

Ram by Paul McCartney
Jul 28 2026

Lots of killer but maybe too much filler. It is very distinctly McCartney, which is a great thing. 4/5

The Colour And The Shape by Foo Fighters
Jul 29 2026

Easily the best Foo Fighters album. Still shocked I never owned this one on CD. Everlong is one of the best songs ever written. 4.5/5

1, 2, Kung Fu! by Boy Azooga
Jul 30 2026

Surprisingly solid for such an obscure listen. 3.5/5

Fancy Blue by Tywanna Jo Baskette
Jul 31 2026

Pretty terrible. Whispery nonsense. 1.5/5

The Golden River by Frog Eyes
Aug 03 2026

Oh how I wish I could get into Frog Eyes. I own Tears from the Valedictorian but try as I might it has never been one that captured me...might be too avant garde. 2.5/5

Aug 04 2026

Pretty awesome. We needed more dub on the list, and this seems like a great representation. Ultimate mood music. 4/5

Aug 05 2026

Interesting story on these guys. The music...a little less so. Appreciate the energy they brought to the performances but it just isn't my thing. 2.5/5

Ænima by TOOL
Aug 06 2026

Alright...I get it. You guys love Tool. Now please don't add anymore to the list...I've had enough. 2.5/5

The Inner Mounting Flame by Mahavishnu Orchestra
Aug 07 2026

Little too freak out jam bandy. I suppose the musicianship is off the charts, but definitely won't be returning to this one. 2/5

Wildflowers by Tom Petty
Aug 10 2026

Great latish stage Petty album. Solid and enjoyable listen end to end, but not sure if I would consider it "great". 3.5/5

The Shape Of Jazz To Come by Ornette Coleman
Aug 12 2026

A little spastic for my tastes, but I am glad to have listened to it. 2.5/5

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel
Aug 13 2026

Has to be the most overrated Indie album ever. While I don't hate it, it comes no where near the levels of other contemporaries like Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, etc. 3.5/5
