Rose Mountain
Screaming FemalesUS Female led punk. Pretty enjoyable if a bit generic and probably even better live. Lead singer has a good voice. Probably wouldn't come back to (hence a 3) but enjoyed the ride.

Interesting story and Interesting music. It seems genuinely new and dynamic. I found some of the phasing in and out a bit frustrating at times. Thanks for introducing. Definitely deserves a 4.
Brilliant DP live album that mixes tracks together with skill and passion. I find myself grinning like a fool through some of it because it is so infectious and clever. When the bass drops....

Rap (US or UK) is just not my genre so it's fighting a losing battle. However no skits, and his flow is good. I'm not really interested in his life (or his crew) and I find the backing tracks a bit dull. I think I prefer it over Skepta's Konnichiwa but it's still a chore. The Sabbath sample made me smile though.
Never heard of this band. Really shit cover. Let's listen...Better that the cover. Genetic well executed hard rock. Singer good but hits a lot of cliches vocal stylings. Bit AC/DC bit Audioslave.
I think this is really good. Never heard of her. Massively ballsy indie folk album that I will play again. I even googled, and she's playing live in a couple of months about 20 mile away from me. Thank you nominator.
The background synth pop was v bland and uninspiring. Can't say much about thd breathy vocals as they were French. Dull.
EMO classic in told. Nirvana/Pumpkins lite I feel. Maybe too harsh but it just doesn't do anything for me
It's a bit Devo and a bit Talking Heads. However it's got a very 80s production which I do not like and it loses a star because of THOSE drums and high treble sound. I admire it's ambitious nature though.
Competent cliche ridden groove metal.I dont like it much. The genre has to offer more to entertain the non-metal fan. 1.5
J-Pop. Never listened before. Bright but vacuous. I have absolutely no interest but admire it in a weird way.
Thought I would find bland but honestly found haunting and massively likable. Reminded me of early Fleet Foxes. Especially like the voices and production. Thank you nominator.
Yikes. This band has been on my radar for ages and I've always been a little afraid. As they are the heirs of the Dead (and my fave GD album is Live Dead) I feel this should be my entry point. It's tight yet jazzy....It needs more than one listen but at 2 hours it's not going to get it. It was released to please the bootleggers fans and not me. I'm not convinced...but I admire....
Alt funk metal experts that pummel and romance with style. Prob their best though haven't listened to later ones. Relentless.
Jeez. I just had the Phish live album. This is taking the piss. It sounds like background music in a dive bar. The guy can sing, the band are proficient and tight but it's muso twiddling wankery. You can't think it should have been on the original list.....really?
Peculiar Swedish dark folk music. Do I need more of this in my life? Unsure. Certainly glad I've heard it.
A beautifully crafted album of songs with heart and pathos. Better than the debut. Good choice.
Joyous acclaimed acoustic album. I dont think its his best (Age of Adz) but it's still a mighty album of delicate passion.
Never listened to this band. Why is it so long.?. I expected the vocals to be screamy, so that a bonus. Unfortunately metal is a difficult genre for me. Sorry but about 5 songs in, it gets a bit tiresome.
Bland Bon Jovi-esque stadium anthem rock. Feels a tad Chrustian. Too much reverb on the singer. The orchestral bits were interesting but unremarkable.
Ok rock album big of drums and the guy definitely loved Led Zep as it's influence shines through. Didn't like the slow one. 3.5 I don't think I will revisit it.
I think I prefer the Moon and Ant but I think this is also pretty great. It's madly quirky and the quality is so good over the long running time. Top tier American Indie.
I'm guessing the 2 earlier Tool albums had already been voted for! Tool fans! OK it's got that bleak beauty that the others have. I don't know why they feel they have to fill albums with 75 mins of music. It's fine but I won't return to it as I prefer Lateralus and it doesn't deviate much from it. 3.5
Quality trumpet jazz.
If you like your Springsteen a bit more rocky then this is the album for you. It's fine but it's not for me.
Interesting story and Interesting music. It seems genuinely new and dynamic. I found some of the phasing in and out a bit frustrating at times. Thanks for introducing. Definitely deserves a 4.
This sounds like a West End musical soundtrack. It Alt-Rock-Folk with a dramatic essence. The nearest comparison I can think of is the Decemberists. A worthy but odd pick.
Only heard the first 2 AM albums and this feels light years away. At times it feels like French lounge chanson type stuff. It may be brilliant, it may be really indulgent. The overall production is sumptuous. Prob needs more than one listen..not 4 out of 5 for me.
Filthy, bright, modern. Sounds ace. My only worry is that it won't t stand the test of time and it will be forgotten. Deserves a 4.
Pop-punk album which I guess is culturally important in the emo 21st century. I thought I would really dislike it but it's pretty fine. It annoys me that they are always trying to reach that anthemic singalong bit. OK but not for me.
Brilliant DP live album that mixes tracks together with skill and passion. I find myself grinning like a fool through some of it because it is so infectious and clever. When the bass drops....
Quirky choice which is a bit "They Might be Giants." Wholesome and maybe a bit annoying. To be honest I dont know what to feel.
Hit laden album of Ausdie rock funk that prob should have been in the original list. I'm not a fan of the classic 80s production (Hello Hi-hats) but you can't deny the quality of this massive album.
Never heard of. Fucking awesome. I'm gonna place it somewhere between Soundgarden and Slint. Many thanks nominator. I'm loving this list more than the original list.!
Interesting dream psych pop rock. The longer format sings work well. I prefer this to Lonerism.
Lovely and dreamy but l prefer a bit more bite in my shoegaze. MBV, and some Boo Radleys and Ride do this better. Really like the Space Station track. Needs several listens
I'm probably at fault here but there is just too much of everything. I can't get a grounding as to what is going on. I can't enjoy it but deep down I feel it is probably amazing. Like Trout Mask Replica. I enjoyed the experience though.
Ok this may be insulting but I was surprised how interesting this album was. I've never listened to the DMB but they've always struck me as a dull US jam/groove band. I wad ready to give it a 3 but it's a solid 4. Thanks
I oody love this user submitted list. It's fucking ace. Brass Ska punk. Never heard of the genre but this is masterful.
I like the innovation on this album but I do feel the effects detract from the songs. Interesting though I will always love the debut more.
Sorry, not for me at all. Very happy jazz funkery with moment of cringe wankery. It was probably great fun being there tanked on cheap beer... bur to me driving home in Birmingham (UK) it kinda doesn't resonate.
A long live French punk album. Hey ho let's go....yeah it's fine and fresh and goes on far too long with no real effect or need.
Not a fan of the genre and the constant screamo is a complete no-no for me. Music seems competent though. Sorry.
Ok I always go into these albums thinking it's going to be an ordeal. This was pretty good. I coped with the vocals and there is some ingenuity with the riffage.
A band totally off my radar and I rather like its modern pop sensibilitys. I must explore more.
Absolutely stunning. Amazing voice. Wondrous production. I've never heard of her. This is my first 5 from 43 user submitted albums. Top choice.
They're bit of a national treasure the BS. It's all in the lyrics, and as usual they are whip smart though these are really dour at times. Still not for me as the music behind it is a bit bland. Respects though.
Beautiful modern classical with some ambient touches. Short pieces that I feel should be developed into longer tracks. You can see how soundtracks was his future.
V interesting electronic soul album that sounds demo-like at times. It's not something i warm to but appreciate it's guile and originality.
Relentless psych metal prog groove rock that very briefly pauses in its onslaught. Sounds raw at times. Difficult to dislike. I have heard this one before and need to explore more from the scarily big discography.
Fascinating peculiar album of decayed ancient dance hall music which is both relaxing and haunting.
Interesting. Lots of Ska. Sometimes sounds like a Clash tribute.
Strong album considering the language gap and the genre. I may ever play it again in the future.
OK U.S 90s Pop-punk. Fine. I have no need to return to it.
Happy go lucky chilled singer song writer stuff. Bit of Paul Simon in there. I like a bit more melancholy in my strummed acoustic guitar escapades....
Melancholic Celtic Singer-singwriter. Much preferably to Jack Johnson.
I am not a fan. The songs are like a bad West End musical and there is a peculiar smugness about the whole thing.
