D by White Denim

Holy shit what a great album, I listened to this four times in a row!

Queens of the Stone Age by Queens Of The Stone Age

I love Queens of the Stone Age but for some reason haven't listened to this album. I wish I would have sooner! Listened to it twice in a row today.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones

I've always been a fan of The Rolling Stones, I was inundated with it growing up. However this is probably the first time I've listened to one of their albums from beginning to end. I love the raw, bluesy feeling this album has. There are some incredible hits but there are also some incredible deep cuts too. I think if I could do half stars this would be a 4.5 but I'll round up to a 5.

Guero by Beck

Tremendous album all the way through!

The Talking Heads are one of my favorite bands and I love everything about this album.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band

This is an interesting album with all kinds of music styles blended in.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Jan 16 2024

Great voice and song writing, just not my preferred style of music.

Kala by M.I.A.

I really enjoyed this one. I was already super familiar with Time to Pretend, Kids and Electric Feel but never listened to the album.

May 12 2025

She had an amazing voice, this was a good album!

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
May 13 2025

I didn’t like this album very much but there were a couple tracks I dig

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
May 14 2025

The Man in Black had such an incredible voice and the stories he tells in his songs will suck you in. Boy Named Sue brings me back to the early Napster days when I first started discovering his music, that was a regular in the playlist rotation for years! I haven’t listened to the full album until today, basically a quarter century later! I like Live at Folsom Prison a little bit better but this is classic. His interactions with the crowd are amazing to hear.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
May 15 2025

This was my first time listening to The Flaming Lips. At first I wasn't liking it much but by the end I really liked this album. I honestly don't think I've heard anything like this before.

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
May 16 2025

I remember getting this CD as a teenager because of the Scooby Snacks song. There are some other incredible songs on this album, and it could be bias because of nostalgia but this is a most excellent album.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
May 17 2025

I love this album. I remember the first time I heard Clint Eastwood, it was unlike any other music I was listening to at the time. I've had this on repeat since it showed up on the list.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
May 18 2025

I was not familiar with this band and I enjoyed this album, it was fun. I like the energy.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
May 19 2025

Even though some of the songs on this album have been played over and over and over on rock radio through the years (hell decades) this is the first time I've listened to the whole album. This is a great album!

May 20 2025

This is a fun album and it's funky as hell. There are some insanely good bass lines and guitar solos throughout the whole thing!

Viva Hate by Morrissey
May 21 2025

This album is lame and Morrissey sucks. I will admit I did like the song Break Up the Family. For that reason I'll give this 2 stars.

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
May 22 2025

I thought this was a terrible album. I found no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Jun 01 2025

This is a powerful album and hits hard right from the get go. Love the funky beats and the raw lyrics!

The Poet by Bobby Womack
Jun 02 2025

This was out of my wheelhouse, I've heard of Bobby Womack but hadn't listened to him before. Giving this a 2 but this made me curious to go check out some of his older stuff.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Jun 03 2025

This is an amazing album, there is no way I could say enough about it. I remember the first time hearing this shortly after it was released, easily on of my all-time favorite albums.

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Jun 04 2025

This one caught me off guard, I didn't like it at first, but as the album went on I started to like it. I think this is more of an acquired taste.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Jun 05 2025

This was an interesting album, not sure I'll go back to it but I can appreciate what they were doing.

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Jun 06 2025

I wasn't expecting this one, amazing singing!

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Jun 07 2025

I remember a few tracks from when this came out, especially the video for Smack My Bitch Up. I finally listened to the album all the way through and ended up listening to it several times!

Is This It by The Strokes
Jun 08 2025

Somebody turned me on to this album a couple years after it came out and I immediately loved every second of it. One of my favorite albums ever and I would recommend this to anybody that hasn't heard it before.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jun 09 2025

I hadn't listened to The War On Drugs before, this is a cool mellow album with a psychedelic feel to it.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Jun 10 2025

A legendary album and legendary band. I remember as a young kid seeing this album in my parents vinyl collection and the first time I heard the title track...holy shit! This is an easy 5 star in my book.

Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Jun 11 2025

Hadn't listened to this band before and was pleasantly surprised! I'll be listening to this more and likely exploring more of their discography.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jun 12 2025

This was a fun album, I was pleasantly surprised by Just A Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody. I grew up in the 80's with David Lee Roth's version and had no idea it was a cover! I also really like You Rascal You by Hanni El Khatib and what do you know that's a cover of a Louis Prima song as well!

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

This was a fun and trippy album to listen to. I am only familiar with The Beach Boys mega hits so this was a pleasant surprise.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jun 14 2025

Willie the Pimp has been one of my favorite songs for years, not sure how I came across it. Might have been a Spotify mix. But I love the gritty blues vocals from Captain Beefheart not to mention the epic guitar solo afterwards. That being said, I have tried other Frank Zappa stuff in the past and I just do not like it. There is something special about Willie the Pimp though. So I saw this album show up, which I have not bothered to listen to outside of the song Willie the Pimp and thought I'd give Frank Zappa another try. I listened to this album and I could do without all of it but Willie the Pimp, such an incredibly awesome song! I am torn as to what to rate this album, it will be heavily weighted because of the song I mentioned before, Willie the Pimp. I mean I am almost considering giving this album a 4 because of this one song. Hot meat, hot rats Hot cats, hot zits

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jun 15 2025

This is a good rock n' roll album.

Jun 16 2025

This album rocks, I hadn't really listened to Mudhoney before and I am wondering why it took me so long to come around...

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jun 17 2025

The songwriting and harmonies on this album are on another level. Songs like Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Wooden Ships, Long Time Gone…they make me feel nostalgic for a time that was before I was even born. And then there is Helplessly Hoping with the alliterations in the verses and the building harmonies in the chorus…amazing stuff. I’m giving this a 4 only because there are a few tracks I didn’t connect with like the ones I mentioned earlier.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Jun 18 2025

This was my first time hearing a Cat Stevens album and I have to tell you I really enjoyed this, I can't believe he was only 22 when he recorded this.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Jun 19 2025

There are some absolute bangers on this album!

Jun 20 2025

This was a nice album to listen to. The music was upbeat and peaceful sounding, I'm not sure if the lyrical content reflects the mood I got from the music.

London Calling by The Clash
Jun 21 2025

I have lost count of how many times I have listened to this album, it is absolutely one of my all-time favorites.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jun 22 2025

I've always been a fan of The Rolling Stones, I was inundated with it growing up. However this is probably the first time I've listened to one of their albums from beginning to end. I love the raw, bluesy feeling this album has. There are some incredible hits but there are also some incredible deep cuts too. I think if I could do half stars this would be a 4.5 but I'll round up to a 5.

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren
Jun 23 2025

This is an interesting album. I feel like I would have liked this more by listening to the vinyl, where each side has a different theme and the breaks between each side would be unavoidable.

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Jun 24 2025

This one took me by surprise. I am familiar with a handful of their songs from the first two albums, but I hadn't heard anything from this one before. What Goes On is now one of my favorite songs, I knew it immediately when it started. The only song I really didn't like is The Murder Mystery.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jun 25 2025

There are random Bowie songs I really like, but never dove into his albums. I initially wasn't sure what to think of this album... The song Queen Bitch is something I already have in regular rotation for a few years. I'm honestly not sure how I came across it, but I absolutely love it. The rest of the album does not sound like this song. On the 2nd listen I noticed more songs that I dig...Changes, Oh! You Pretty Things, Life on Mars?, Kooks, Quicksand, Andy Warhol, and Songs for Bob Dylan. On the 3rd listen I understand why this album is in the list. Incredible song writing. Holy shit David Bowie was a force to be reckoned with.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jun 26 2025

Another one of my favorite albums, I remember the first time I heard All Apologies on the radio when I was a teenager. Excellent album...it's interesting to compare the original album with the 2013 mix that's in the Deluxe Edition.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Jun 27 2025

Ok hear me out...I watch a lot of baseball games, baseball documentaries, etc. The whole time I was listening to this album I couldn't stop thinking about baseball legends playing ball back in the day. I can honestly say I haven't set out to listen to Big Band music before but I enjoyed every second of this.

Aja by Steely Dan
Jun 28 2025

You call me a fool You say it's a crazy scheme This one's for real I already bought the dream

Dance Mania by Tito Puente
Jun 29 2025

This is a fun album to listen to, another style of music I haven't really listened to before...love the energy.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jun 30 2025

This is the 2nd Stan Getz album that has showed up for me. Previous to this journey I had never heard of him, and this is not the type of music I have really listened to before. The first album I heard to was Getz/Gilberto and it blew me away, gave it 5 stars. Today I listened to Jazz Samba 4 times in a row. Another 5 stars, something about his music just Getz to me.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Jul 01 2025

I can appreciate what they are doing with this album, but I just can't get into it. I like psychedelic rock and I feel like there are elements in this album, but there seems to be a lot of tension...

Night Life by Ray Price
Jul 02 2025

I dig this old style country, I was pleasantly surprised to find out Willie Nelson wrote a couple songs on this album.

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Jul 03 2025

I hadn't heard of this band before. This is a great album, especially after reading the wiki page.

The Modern Dance by Pere Ubu
Jul 04 2025

Man oh man what a wildly awesome album. I really wasn't sure what to expect based on the band name and album cover. I have listened to it several times today and it keeps getting better on each listen. I did a little bit of a dive and found a few live videos on YouTube, Dave Thomas had amazing energy on stage. I'm not sure if other's would agree with me, but this album very so slightly reminded me of The Talking Heads and The Minutemen.

Tommy by The Who
Jul 05 2025

There are some good songs on here, I am just not much into the album.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Jul 08 2025

There are two versions of this album, a UK release and a US release. Thankfully these days it's easy to listen to both. Paint It Black definitely gives the US version the edge, but it's missing Mother's Little Helper which is also a great song. The rest of the album is okay. I read in the wiki that this came out shortly before Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde and the Beatles - Revolver... I like those albums better to be honest.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 09 2025

There are a few songs I liked, there are points where random instruments will come in and I liked that. The harmonizing throughout the album is great.

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Jul 11 2025

Holy shit what a wild ride! There are so many crazy things going on with this album it will take many listens to unpack it all... I love the bluesy doom/stoner rock sound of Pittsburgh to Lebanon. From there it feels like a psychedelic trip until Human Cannonball which rocks. The rest of the album feels like a bad psychedelic trip, but the wild experimentation is fascinating. They include a lot of elements from genres I love. I had already been interested in listening to this since it was in Kurt Cobain's top 50 album list from his journals.
