D.O.A. the Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle
Throbbing GristleIt may have been ground breaking from a production stand point, but’s to much of an art project to enjoy
It may have been ground breaking from a production stand point, but’s to much of an art project to enjoy
The feeling of freedom, looking forward and the sadness moving on from the past runs all through this album
Complex and deep, effortless cool
Haunting sadness, as expected. A more mature album compared to the previous. XO is still my favourite
Couldn’t get into this. 20mins tracks are daunting!
Amazing voice. No filler.
Of it’s time. Wordy and a bit samey, not really my cup of tea
Stone cold classic.
Unstoppable, maximum rock and roll.
Moody and Immersive.
Just can’t get into Moz.
Southern swagger, but a bit samey..
Mannish Boy is a classic, the rest is good ole blues.
Stone cold classic. What a groove.
Pretentious, hiding behind arty beats
Understated and powerful
Whimsical, 80s synth pop. Not really really it.
Fast paced and fun. Great rock n roll album
Better than expected, a great journey of an album
Middle of the road with flourishes of brilliance
Light and airy old hippy music
Raw energy but a bit samey
I’m sure it’s a classic, but not for me
Their best album. Flawless
The funky beginning to many great records
Slow burning far out fuzz
A retro calming journey, you can see why it was a pioneering album
Another Classic. Maximum Rock n Roll.
I sneered at it when it first came out, but this album goes hard.
Not their best, but a few classics make it a strong album
The whole album has a laid back vibe and there’s some classic cuts. However, I wouldn’t be listening from start to finish very often
Fuzzy and Quirky, the album behinds to a satisfying finale. It was a pleasant surprise
Delicate and Powerful, this has a more mature feel to it compared to their previous albums. Dangerous is an absolute banger.
Not something I’d listen to normally. There’s definitely no filler on this album, it’s a very good 70s country album; Strings work well with great a country voice.
Amazing session, with three players really synced into each other. Great album.
A Sonic Trip from Sonic Youth
It’s what it is. A classic album that influenced many. What stands out for me is the humanity of the album. She’s leaving home is a prime example.
There’s something retro, but fresh about this. A great listen.
The Who love a concept album. Complex and kooky, it’s a good listen.
Side B is one of my favourite musical journeys on an album. Makes up for mild randomness on the Side A
My level of Iron Maiden is greatest hits level. It’s all the same for me..
Extra, extra funky. Great beats with great guests.
Funky and Fresh, a mature listen.
Wasn’t what I was expecting. A solid 60s album, an easy listen
A timeless, soulful album with amazing tracks littered throughout
Edgy Personal and mature. Generally not my thing, but very good none the less
Mature and thoughtful, a great album.
The music is expansive and unique. Some what uplifting. Sledgehammer may have the best video, but In Your Eyes is a better song
Aggressive Storytelling with interesting backing beats, social messaging is throughout. However, some lyrics are dated. The cadence is the same for most songs, which is different to what I’m used to.
Lyrical Storytelling, beautiful but a tiny bit middle class.
The album has a late night lounge feel. The Murder Mystery kinda ruins the vibe, but Pale Blue Eyes is devastating
Largely forgettable pop album beyond the singles. Which may have been the strategy..
Wild Musical Journey, expanding many genres. Great fun to listen to.
A kooky album. Once I found out it was a side project of members of the Talking Heads, it all made sense. The album kinda grows on you..
Controlled Chaos, Doolittle is better, but this album is still bangin’
A light, thoughtful album, didn’t really grab me
Laid back guitars and thoughtful lyrics. Very much a vibe.
A time capsule of an album. Great old country sounds and hurting’ music.
I’m sure there’s someone out there who would go on and on about how this is their best album in a condescending manner, but it ain’t’ me.
A sweet, sweaty, smoky, chaotic mess with the best soul voice guiding you through. Amazing.
Solid Texas Blues/Rock. La Grange is a classic.
Dark, mesmerising and industrial. Joy Divison’s sound is unique and the death of Ian Curtis hangs over it all.
An odd journey of an album, so interesting stuff, but doesn’t really grab you for the whole thing.
Wispy and one note, you get the feeling that they are taking themselves too seriously
Aggressive, old school rhymes. A bit dated, but the overall message is still relevant. Sadly.
Super funky. Great storytelling, which is expected from a soundtrack.
Classic Country. Hurtin’ music. Great voice, great guitar and great lyrics.
High tempo tour de force, even with the Xmas song thrown in there
I’m sure this fits in somewhere in the rock n roll ark, but it kinda doesn’t grab me. Anything with a 10 minute song is a bit too much for me..
Great sound from a group of talented musicians. A real easy listen, even if it’s something I wouldn’t usually gravitate to
It’s hard not to be influenced by the over saturation of the singles on this album. Her voice is good, it sound good, it’s just too vanilla. Too cosey, middle class coffee shop.
Raw Power indeed. Search and Destroy is a tour de force and although the rest of the album doesn’t hit the same level. It’s raw, loud and full of swagger
It feels like one long song. It’s a bit boring, there may be beauty to be found in the lyrics, but it’s not reaching me.
Passions, Pain and Power. All these things make Nina Simone great.
A bit too short to truly get into it. The album is lacking the spark that give you a feeling of what it was like to be there, despite the crowd being on the record.
Smooth and cool. Very easy album to listen to.
It’s a vibe. It feels like an album that would mean something to you if you heard it at a certain point of your life. I’m not at that point.
Cohen is a great storyteller, but man, it’s miserable even when it’s not meant to be. One or two songs is great, a whole album is hard work.
Fuzzy, loud/quiet music that didn’t really excite.
There’s complexity to this album, it means that you really need to focus to get the most of it. I would argue that makes it less accessible..
It’s rough and raw with smooth beats. A classic west coast album.
Fast paced and grand, what you expect from Queen. It was interesting listening to a whole album and not just the greatest hits. It didn’t disappoint
It’s a warm music journey into a genre I that I haven’t really explored
A cultural groove that is easy to get into, an eclectic sound. Brimful of Asha is a classic, but the remix is the better version
You know what you’re gonna get with the thunder from down under. Heavy riffs and old school rock n roll lyrics. Not a classic like Back in Black, but still rocks hard
A tour de force.
A unique, hidden gem.
Great, soulful voice and Freedom 90 is a classic, but the rest of the album failed to draw me in.
An eclectic mix of music. It’s unique, but a bit too left field for my liking.
A winding road of samples, it can be abrupt at times, but the album is best if you just let it flow and don’t question it. Since I Left You is a classic
Waves of Nostalgia are hard to ignore. I was expecting a lot of filler revisiting this double album, but it’s that’s not the case. Really enjoyed getting back to this after a long break
A bit dull and dreary.
Dark and Brooding. The album kind of tails off after a strong start..
An absolute classic, iconic early 2000s rock opera. Easily listenable from start to finish
The challenge with 50s albums is that they stick to one line. Pioneering maybe, but I’m not sure they hold up. Blueberry Hill is a classic though
Sounds well produced and the sound is of it’s time, but failed to get me interested beyond the old singles
Soft around the edges and a bit too dated to get into.
It may have been ground breaking from a production stand point, but’s to much of an art project to enjoy
Accessible and easy to listen to, with great players. It’s easy to see why this is a classic
It’s a unique sound and a strong outing with classic songs throughout. The funky naughtiness doesn’t grab me as much as it did when I heard it when I was younger.
A funky, sexy party, unfortunately my mind started to wonder a bit. The album really didn’t hook me in.
Poppy, Arty and a bit samey.
Pure Sex and Rock n Roll. Heavy guitars and great vocals. I always turned my nose up to Van Halen, but this is a great album.
Beautiful, haunting sadness.
I wasn’t looking forward to this and it went as expected. Big sound, prog rock and all a bit the same.
Shining Star is a classic and there is a general smooth funkiness to it, I found myself losing interest near the end.
Not my thing at all. 80s keyboard extravaganza. Very samey.
I found it slow to get off the mark and although there are some classic songs, it’s not as good as I was expecting
Not too sure what to expect, but it was an interesting listen, upbeat and fun.
Quirky and engaging. A pleasant surprise
Bluesy Rock n Roll that demands to be turned up loud.
It all feels a bit dated and samey. Didn’t really make an impact
A real musical journey, a good vibe.
Expansive Rock n Roll, with a big confident sound. Iconic Rock moment with the scream.
I can’t get into 80s very easily and this isn’t an exception. Too pretentious for me.
A bit of a tour de force. Aggressive and fragile at the same time. Great album.
I tried twice to get into this, no success. Too slow and samey.
There’s an ebb and flow to this album. It’s also hard to detach it from what came after. Wake Up is still their best song.
As expected, the album is slightly kooky and has a few bangers. His style is very identifiable
Flamboyant 70s music. It’s generic and didn’t interest me
Failed to grab me, of it’s time
Great early Hip Hop Groove.
Another Prog Rock ‘journey’. Hard to get excited..
Prefer this to others of the era, but still not feeling it
