Popular Reviews

Ace of Spades by Motörhead

Loses a star for Jailbait. Don't be weird. Otherwise, this is a fine album.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division

Disorder - yeah it's a song Day of the Lords - no Candidate - no Insight - no New dawn fades - hmmm She's lost control - no Shadowplay - hmmm Wilderness - I don't remember listening to this Interzone - hmmm I remember nothing - no I did not enjoy this album. Sorry

Loved the first couple of songs, but felt it was dragging by the end. Who knew Soft Cell were so kinky btw. Good for them Songs added to playlist: - Frustration - Tainted Love - Where Did Our Love Go?

Parallel Lines by Blondie

I think I remember my dad introducing me to Blondie. What I definitely remember is not knowing that Blondie were a band, and thinking that that was just Debbie Harry's real name. It should be tbh. Iconic. Songs added to playlist: - Hanging On The Telephone - One Way Or Another - Heart Of Glass - Just Go Away

Odelay by Beck
Jul 29 2024

Devils haircut - feels very woohoo! That song. Couldn't work out if it was haircut or handgun. Feels familiar Hotwax - for some reason this reminds me of the Cheaper by the Dozen films, especially Alyson Stoner in their cap I'm enjoying this but it's not what I would normally listen to Ooo I'm the enchanted wizard Lord only knows - big scream! Actual song/artist's voice reminds me of the Brobecks but very vaguely. The new pollution - this intro is fun! Like the sax (?) at the end. Actual song very repetitive but enjoyable. I imagine if I went to uni when it came out it would be a fun dancey club song Derelict - Katrina from Animal Crossing music Novacane - hmmm. Least favourite so far. Trying hard not to skip the high pitched noises near the end Jack-ass - feels whimsical. Indie film morning routine music. Why is there a donkey here Where it's at - ooo very familiar intro! This is vibey. The first song I know! And it's a good one Minus - this feels quite boring Sissyneck - fun whistling. Slightly country. I don't like the dialling noise they use in the album. Readymade - I don't have any thoughts here High 5 (Rock the Catskills) - thought this was going to be Rock the Casbah by the Clash... Giving Run DMC vibes. Feel like all these songs are very long Ramshackle - nice and calm Diskobox - the last song on the album. Think I'm enjoying it but I have no idea what they're saying! (never mind they're saying Diskobox. Should have been able to work that out) That's the end of the album, think I enjoyed it but I don't think I'll listen to it again. Can see how it was good, but it's not my taste

Sea Change by Beck
Jul 30 2024

My second Beck album in two days! Let's go The golden age - really liked this. Nice and calm and a good song to walk to at night Paper tiger - don't like the vocal quality here, but that's okay. Like the strings. Really like the ending Guess I'm doing fine - nice intro. Giving me early counting crows. Enjoying this. Moody and good Lonesome tears - Beck's a sad boy isn't he. Lost cause - instinctively went to skip this. Idk why. Not bad now I'm listening to it. A bit badly drawn boy, but not as upbeat. Very sad walking in the rain end of relationship song End of the day - listening to this album in two parts so this will be my last half before I stop. Also sad. I'm sensing a theme. All in your mind - I like this. Melancholy. I like the strings a lot. That was good Round the bend - promising intro. Not mad keen on the vocals. Strings are lovely. Feels a tiny bit Bond Already dead - this is fine. Feel like I've heard it in 100 student films Sunday sun - is that a sitar? Little one - not feeling this Side of the road - I just don't think I like his singing voice. The original off key indie sad boy. I don't hate this song actually. I imagine it would be good for a late night drive. That song felt like just the right length, and some others I was willing to be over. Not a bad album at all! Enjoyed a lot of parts of it. Quite likely to listen to some of these songs again

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jul 31 2024

Exp - fun fun fun intro, the audio going over both ears is cool. That was the whole song! Banging Up from the skies - this is cool, different to most things I listen to Spanish castle magic - yeah!!! Wait until tomorrow - don't love the chorus but love the bass and the drums Ain't no telling - this is fun !! Little wing - I like this! If 6 was 9 - don't like the voice in my right ear, bit spooky. Probably my least favourite on the album so far (and unfortunately the longest!), but that doesn't mean it's bad You got me floatin' - lil head bop to this Castles made of sand - this is alright! She's so fine - this had promise until the vocals came in. Not my vibe One rainy wish - not much to say about this, it's alright! The more I listen the less I like it Little miss lover - hmmmm Bold as love - better than the previous ones! Not really feeling anything from it though. The second half of the song is cool Much much much preferred the first half of this album. Was going to be a 4/5 before I hit the second half, now it's a 3/5. Enjoyed listening to it though!

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Aug 01 2024

Down to the waterline - I liked this Water of love - good intro, like this too Setting me up - I like this a lot, she's a little bit country Didn't review every song from here because I was walking home and had to Process a film I saw. I've really enjoyed this though!! Feels nice and familiar even if I didn't know it before

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Aug 02 2024

Listening after a day in the sun with Grandma Every day I have the blues - I like this a lot ! Added to my 1001 albums playlist Sweet little angel - this is good and vibey It's my own fault - this man has a niiiice voice How blue can you get - the transitions are So Good, so seamless Please love me - yeahh!! You upset me baby - post-interval song? This one is chiller than the others Worry, worry - Also very chill. I think I prefer the more upbeat ones! The second half of this song is cool, but was that... Misogyny ? Woke up this mornin - not much to say about this one! You done lost your good thing now - again, not much to say! Was good but not my fave Help the poor - the intro is fun, kinda samba-y? Another one for the playlist! Enjoyed this! V glad I listened to it

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Aug 05 2024

I lost all my listening notes! Booo But thought this was alright - a long album, not really what I'd usually listen to

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Aug 06 2024

Love love love this, love Dusty. Iconic lesbian 🧡🤍🩷

Harvest by Neil Young
Aug 07 2024

Enjoying this! Not my usual but a decent album 3 1/5 stars, rounded up to four

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Aug 08 2024

A really unexpected album! I wasn't expecting anything like this My favourite tracks were: - Song for Sathima - The Wedding - The Mountain It's a shame about the transition between Tuang Guru and The Wedding, had to replay that to make sure it wasn't my fault ! Unexpected, but I liked it. 4/5

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Aug 09 2024

I don't think I've ever properly looked at a picture of Bruce Springsteen before I saw this album cover. Badlands - nice but feels a bit flat Adam raised a Cain - this goes hard Something in the night - whiny Candy's room - hmmm Racing in the street - ... boring? The promised land - not feeling this Factory - not much to say about this Streets of fire - liking this one Prove it all night - I was kind of ready for this song to be over two minutes in. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood Darkness on the edge of town - not my fave I'm sure this was cathartic to write and perform but it wasn't for me. That's okay though! 2.5/5, rounded up to 3/5

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Aug 12 2024

An absolute banger of an album. Thanks Marvin

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Aug 13 2024

This was very long! But I enjoyed it. Don't know if I would listen to much of it again, but I appreciated it. Closer is obviously iconic, but felt a bit violent at the moment. Think that's a me issue though!

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Aug 14 2024

This is incredible. Not sure how I hadn't listened to it the whole way through before

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Aug 15 2024

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Aug 21 2024

indie nasal voice, not a fan ! yewwww, shewwws Sorry i just googled it and one of the members died during the recording of this album and they just ? replaced him ? and did a gig three weeks later? wild area 51 is a fun song enjoying the second half of the album more than the first Songs added to my 1001 albums playlist: - North Country Boy - Area 51

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Aug 22 2024

I'm so excited for this!! Talkin' Bout a Revolution - incredible. What a beautiful voice. The noise cancelling headphones are really doing this justice. You better run run run run run run run run ! Fast Car - yes yes yes yes Across the Lines - I didn't know this one before now. I like it. A softer song (production wise, not lyrics) than the other two Behind the Wall - is this a cappella? beautifullll voice - hard hitting lyrics Baby Can I Hold You - this is beautiful Mountains O' Things - I don't know why I wasn't expecting lyrics like this. she's incredible She's Got Her Ticket - not my favourite on the album, but still enjoying it Why? - same as the above, but it's a very good tune For My Lover - god her voice is beautiful If Not Now... - this feels hopeful, I like it For You - I want Tracy Chapman to be in love with ME! This was lovely Might listen to this album again immediately I liked it that much. thanks Tracy love you

Night Life by Ray Price
Aug 23 2024

Liked this! Wasn't expecting it to be as country from the first few songs. 4/5 Favourite songs: - night life - are you sure Although I did like let me talk to you as well The whole album felt very easy to listen to and I appreciated that

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Aug 26 2024

Loved!!!!

Disintegration by The Cure
Aug 27 2024

This was! Good. I don't know how much I personally liked it, but I can appreciate it. He was whiny 3.5 or 4/5?? Can't decide. I think I'm exhausted and that's why I didn't like it as much as I usually would Maybe 3. Idk

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Aug 28 2024

Didn't listen to this properly because I was just having my breakfast while it played, and I wish I could have given it more justice. Enjoyed it though

Repeater by Fugazi
Aug 29 2024

Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
Aug 30 2024

Does this translate to Norwegian Rat? Enjoyed this more than I expected to! But I didn't listen to it properly because my aunt called, which is grand.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Sep 10 2024

Disorder - yeah it's a song Day of the Lords - no Candidate - no Insight - no New dawn fades - hmmm She's lost control - no Shadowplay - hmmm Wilderness - I don't remember listening to this Interzone - hmmm I remember nothing - no I did not enjoy this album. Sorry

Sorry why is this over two hours long. go away okay Call of Ktulu is banging I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would But it's very long. Flagging just near the end of disc 1. Want to have a break but worried I won't go back to it! Starting disc 2. not in the mood unfortunately actually it's fine. mostly just feeling like background noise I listened to the whole thing and god, I hope I don't get another long album for a while 2.5/5, rounded down to 2. it's my ratings system I can do what I want

a girl group! finally!!! I didn't love this as much as I thought I would. 3.5 stars

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Sep 20 2024

Not vibing with this unfortunately The second last song repeating "open your eyes" over and over felt like a huge cliché. Kind of... boring?

Sep 23 2024

thought this was alright! didn't really connect with it much. was too religious for me. preferred superfly

Illmatic by Nas
Sep 24 2024

Sep 25 2024

Loved loved loved this!

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Sep 26 2024

Thought this was fine. Fuck Morrissey

The Man Who by Travis
Sep 27 2024

I preferred the Edinburgh Gay Men's Chorus' version of Why Does It Always Rain On Me? Seriously, this was fine and inoffensive. Will always be a fan of Scottish representation in these things Think the secret song was maybe the most interesting!

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Sep 30 2024

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Oct 16 2024

I barely remember listening to this

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Oct 17 2024

telecosmic academy might be the worst song I've ever heard never mind the rest of the album from here is also terrible. at least all the songs are quite short so you get a different kind of terrible every couple of minutes. No way out is SHITE A solid 1.5. Whether it gets rated 1 or 2 is solely based on how much I liked the last song. It's a 1!

In Utero by Nirvana
Oct 18 2024

This mostly felt like noise tbh

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Oct 21 2024

I liked this! It felt like a good solid album. Listened to it on a bus and that felt right

This isn't what I'd usually listen to, but I really liked it. Thanks Neil and Crazy Horse

The Bends by Radiohead
Oct 23 2024

I liked this! My favourite of the generated albums recently. High and Dry used to be on my sleepytime playlist, so that probably helps bump this album up a bit. Thanks to an 8tracks user for making the playlist I used to fall asleep to for years, and thanks for including that track on it 4.5/5, rounding up because I feel generous

Oct 25 2024

excited to see what all the tumblr throwback girlies are so excited about. Her voice always reminds me of Baz Luhrmann's 2013 Gatsby. A great choice for a Daisy song White Dress: I love how she says Business Conference. I'm going to start saying it like that whenever I go to a Business Conference Chemtrails Over the Country Club: being at a country club is not a universal experience. just throwing in some astrology for good measure, thanks Lana Tulsa Jesus Freak: this feels slightly more funky than the last two. well, the chorus does Let Me Love You like a Woman: is this about toxic masculinity? men not wanting to be seen doing feminine things, including in the way they're loved? or is this about Lana feeling like she's not able to do what she wants to do? or is this queer longing - but longing to be queer. much to think about Wild at Heart: god she's obsessed with romanticising cigarettes. better than vaping though I guess. Big I'm not like other girls energy Dark but Just a Game: hmm. not my favourite Not All Who Wander Are Lost: such a boring song title. Very 2012. Yosemite: When I was young I used to pronounce this as Yose-mite. Unconvinced by her high notes here, her lower register is much nicer Breaking Up Slowly: girlie we've all been there. Her sudden country twang is a bit jarring after the rest of the album Dance Till We Die: this is fine For Free: sounds like she's having a nice life. wild that she made school have two syllables - very Invernesian. their voices all sound nice together and that's lovely. delighted that Lana is married to an alligator tour guide now, it's so rogue but I'm so into it. Never mind just found out he's a bigot. Not massively surprised Overall I'm feeling like this album would be a good choice for a big sad nighttime walk. It's produced well, but isn't the most exciting album ever. last song was lovely though

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Oct 28 2024

this was nice. I accidentally listened to the whole album twice in a row, one in stereo one in mono. that was maybe a bit too much

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Oct 29 2024

I love Talking Heads thank you

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Oct 30 2024

Loses a star for Jailbait. Don't be weird. Otherwise, this is a fine album.

At Budokan by Cheap Trick
Oct 31 2024

This was banging

Dare! by The Human League
Nov 01 2024

This was fun! Plus a star for don't you want me

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Nov 04 2024

Yes yes yes liked this a lot

Blackstar by David Bowie
Nov 05 2024

Was expecting to like this more than I did

Aha Shake Heartbreak by Kings of Leon
Nov 06 2024

oh no immediately was put off this as soon as he started singing this was fine and inoffensive. just an album innit. some bops. good background work music

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Nov 07 2024

this wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be from some of the reviews. fun and funky

Nov 08 2024

just a lot of vibes. I liked it, good work music Aphex Twin always remind me of a pal I used to have who now does Roller Derby under the name Aphex Twink. iconic

The Doors by The Doors
Nov 11 2024

Coming back to this after a.... long time away. Let's go! A nice short album to return to. I liked this! Nice and easy. Light My Fire is obviously a banger. Correct that like 15% of the album is that one song

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Nov 12 2024

I liked this!! More than I was expecting, although I don't know why I wasn't expecting to like it. I preferred the slower songs I think Songs added to my playlist: - Rocket - Disarm - Spaceboy - Luna 3.75/5!!

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Nov 13 2024

banging, thank you

Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves
Nov 14 2024

Really liked this, 4.5/5. Was familiar with some of the songs beforehand, which is always nice Feels like a weird one to listen to when you're not yet over a weird breakup for a relationship that never quite was. I think that's true of a lot of music though. Why is everything about love! Think I'll be less resistant to some of this album when things feel less raw, and that's okay - that's a me issue, not a Kacey one Loved the vibe shift on High Horse, that was a lot of fun Did enjoy this a lot. Thank you Kacey. Will be listening to more of you I think!

Sheet Music by 10cc
Nov 15 2024

Sure! I'm glad they had fun Didn't hate this, didn't love it. I organised paperwork during it, and that felt right. 2.75/5 Added Wall Street Shuffle to my playlist. A good choice to begin the album with that one I'd say The Saro-Iliac was a fun song as well. A late addition to the playlist

Pretenders by Pretenders
Nov 07 2025

23 seconds in, an immediate yes her voice is incred Some really interesting time signatures here. Want to comment on how much I love how the music feels, but can't find the right word. Groove? Flow? Movement? Progression? Unsure, but I'm enjoying Songs added to playlist: - Precious - Up the Neck - Brass in Pocket

Nov 10 2025

Can't stop thinking about the bassline in Parental Discretion Iz Advised When Express Yourself started I literally went closer to the speaker like :o How had I not heard this before? Had to stop myself adding so many songs to my playlist - most of these albums have 2 or 3 songs on the playlist, and 8 songs into Straight Outta Compton, 4 of those had made it onto the playlist, with two that I was very much considering adding. Howeverrrrr, think the first half of the album was better. Overall still banging. 4.5/5, rounded up Very interesting btw how I've noticed a lot of folk in the reviews denouncing N.W.A.'s misogyny and homophobia - much more than on any other album with similar content. Also a lot of people saying they hate rap and barely gave this a go. Looks a lot like thinly veiled racism to me! Will never for a second stand for misogyny or homophobia, I'm a queer femme person, but I will ALSO not stand for people using outrage as a tool to be racist/colourist. Don't use me as an excuse for your prejudice Anyway, I love funk and this was fun. We love sampling, we love young people being creative

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Nov 11 2025

Hmmm, didn't love this. Unsure why but it's not really doing it for me 3.25/5 Songs added to playlist: - Watch That Man - The Prettiest Star - Lady Grinning Soul

Medúlla by Björk
Nov 12 2025

I don't think I've ever listened to Björk before, I'm excited First two were pretty much what I thought I was going to get, but Where Is The Line was SO unexpected. Loving it I want to listen to this while on a beach walk. Would be the perfect vibes I think. Can only imagine how many student interpretative dance pieces have been done to this album. Really liked this. Struggled a lil bit with the vocalisations on Ancestors, but that's okay. 4.5/5. Was going to round down but then I changed my mind. Enjoy your five stars, Björk, you deserve it Songs added to my playlist: - Pleasure Is All Mine - Where Is The Line - Desired Constellation - Oceania - Mouths Cradle

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Nov 13 2025

For some reason I thought LCD Soundsystem and Fontaines DC were the same band. When I thought about it for more than 4 seconds I realised I was wrong, but that took me until track 5 Anyway. I liked this! Think I'd only heard NYILY before. A solid 4/5 Songs added to playlist: - Time to Get Away - Someone Great - All My Friends - New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down

The Hour Of Bewilderbeast by Badly Drawn Boy
Nov 14 2025

Oh I used to listen to the About A Boy soundtrack all the time !!! And haven't heard any other Badly Drawn Boy. I'm looking forward to this Listened to this while getting ready for a party and it wasn't quite the going out vibe, but that's not Badly Drawn Boy's fault I like this a lot. Not to jinx it but there's been a run of good albums recently Songs added to playlist: - The Shining - Everybody's Stalking - Camping Next to Water - Disillusion

Nov 17 2025

Some parts of this were great, other parts not so much "You call me sweet like I'm some kind of cheese" ???? Why was The Prophet's Song so long. Found it quite grating unfortunately. I have absolutely no idea how to rate this. Obviously this album was deeply impactful culturally, but I wonder how much of that was down to a few standouts - would this album still be on this list if 8 of the 12 songs were changed? A cynic would say probably Songs added to playlist: - You're My Best Friend - Seaside Rendezvous - Love Of My Life - Good Company - Bohemian Rhapsody

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Nov 18 2025

Saw what album was today's and honestly, I felt immediate relief Love u Marvin Songs added to playlist: - What's Going On - Save The Children - Right On - Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Nov 19 2025

Better than I thought it was going to be based on the reviews. Don't think that was a high bar. Feels very forgettable, but that means that (one song's intro excluded) it was also v inoffensive. Some interesting things here ! Songs added to playlist: - Assessment - Easy - Out-Side

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
Nov 20 2025

Listened to this once, and then later when I had some things to do around the house I thought I should listen to it again. The good news is that you can listen to it twice in one day without it getting annoying. The bad news is that's because it's so forgettable, that you're barely aware you've listened to it twice. Once again, fine and inoffensive. The Sweet Home Alabama sample is a lot of fun though. Songs added to playlist: - The Occasional Flicker - Knowledge Of Beauty - One Of Those Things

Achtung Baby by U2
Nov 21 2025

every time I think of U2 I think of two things: - the time they put that 2014 album on everyone's iPhones without them asking - my favourite joke ever, which goes as follows Bono and his wife are lying in bed. He turns to her and goes "I love you honey". She replies "I love you too". He turns away crying. Why can't she love him for who he is and not for his band. I hadn't listened to much U2 outwith the classics before this. Had fun listening to this album, although by the end of it I was definitely aware of its length. 3.5/5. I also very much prefer the Jack White version of Love Is Blindness from the Gatsby soundtrack. Thanks for writing it lads. Although I've just looked it up and you were going to give it to Nina Simone but kept it for yourselves?? Putting the rating down just for that. Songs added to playlist: - Even Better Than The Real Thing - One - Mysterious Ways - Love Is Blindness

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Nov 24 2025

Yeah this was alright. Some good tracks. Respect the 30 minute run time Songs added to playlist: - Breakdown - American Girl

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Nov 25 2025

I enjoyed listening to this! 3.5/5 I'm learning guitar rn and Sunshine Of Your Love was the first riff I ever learnt - only three or so weeks ago. Got very excited to hear it here! Songs added to playlist: - Strange Brew - Sunshine Of Your Love - Tales Of Brave Ulysses - Take It Back

Nov 26 2025

Loved the first couple of songs, but felt it was dragging by the end. Who knew Soft Cell were so kinky btw. Good for them Songs added to playlist: - Frustration - Tainted Love - Where Did Our Love Go?

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Nov 27 2025

This was a good listen, lots of genres while not feeling like a jarring mix. Thanks Paul Only knew me and Julio before. Thought it was Julia. Clearly didn't know it very well Songs added to playlist: - Duncan - Run That Body Down - Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard - Paranoia Blues (unreleased version)

Cross by Justice
Nov 28 2025

I've never listened to Justice before and had no idea what to expect. I've never really listened to electronic/dance music, so this was very new to me. This is such a nice change amongst the sea of classic dad rock that makes up a lot of this project. Don't get me wrong, I love some dad rock, but it's great to listen to other genres - never would have listened to this otherwise. And what a treat The bassline on Phantom is phenomenal, hello. There's SO many incredible basslines actually. Ugh, stunning Loved D.A.N.C.E. A lot of this was incredible. One or two moments I didn't love, but the rest was so good. A 4/5? A 5/5??? I can't believe this is a debut album. What a banger I think 4.5/5. Who would have known that I'd love this so much!! Iconic. Thank you Songs added to playlist: - D.A.N.C.E. - DVNO - Stress

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Dec 01 2025

Obviously Bittersweet Symphony is great. I'm looking at that 1 hour 15 runtime and I'm wondering if the rest of the album will justify the length It doesn't. This is boring. Sorry. Songs added to playlist: - Bittersweet Symphony - Come On Although! I added a different version of Come On (Loco Studio Session) because I did not like Deep Freeze. Not strictly from this album, but I truly don't need 8 minutes of silence and then Deep Freeze in my playlist.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Dec 02 2025

Woof, very front-loaded. This was a solid 5/5 at the beginning, then worked its way down to a 4.5/5, and finally Endless, Nameless cemented it at a 4/5. Shame! Obviously deeply important, groundbreaking, etc. Some absolute bangers, when it's great it's incredible, and when it's bad it's. Eh. Pretty bad. Nirvana always remind me of a guy I dated for a couple of weeks or month or so in very early 2020, who was convinced he would join the 27 club. Absolutely no reason why, the most outrageous thing he did was hillwalking and drinking a bit too much sometimes. He was 27 when we were dating. He's still alive, owns a kitchen in a bar. He's said I can come in for free food if I want, but I don't think I will. Anyway. I'm learning Come As You Are on guitar rn, and that's a lot of fun. Songs added to playlist: - Smells Like Teen Spirit - Come As You Are - Lithium - Something In The Way

Abraxas by Santana
Dec 03 2025

Had never heard of Santana before, had absolutely no idea what to expect. LOVED THIS. Don't think I've ever heard anything like it. What a treat. A lovely reminder that this project is great for discovering new things Songs added to playlist: - Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen - Oye Como Va - Se a Cabo - Samba Pa Ti

Heavy Weather by Weather Report
Dec 04 2025

Feel like I should have loved this but I didn't for some reason. I love jazz. I love funk. I didn't love this. Soz lads Listened to a couple of the songs the next day and initially liked it more, but now I'm back to my original feelings. I want to like this more than I do! I have no idea what to rate it! Somewhere between a 2.5 and a 4. I think it has to be a 3, but I'm really not sure. Think I'll have to revisit this one. Songs added to playlist: - Birdland - Palladium - Black Market - Live

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Dec 05 2025

Wasn't expecting a Wizard of Oz sample in The Frayed Ends Of Sanity. Not mad about it. This was good, not what I usually like to listen to so don't think I'll listen to the whole thing again but some songs had me like !! Yeah !!! Defo realising that I prefer a short song Added to playlist: - Blackened - One - The Frayed Ends Of Sanity

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Dec 09 2025

The easiest 5 stars There's truly nothing like the groove in Higher Ground. Nothing like it. Could have easily added them all, but... Songs added to playlist: - Too High - Living For The City - Golden Lady - Higher Ground - Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing

Dec 10 2025

This was nice! A solid album Songs added to playlist: - The Village Green Preservation Society - Picture Book - Animal Farm - People Take Pictures of Each Other

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Dec 15 2025

I think I remember my dad introducing me to Blondie. What I definitely remember is not knowing that Blondie were a band, and thinking that that was just Debbie Harry's real name. It should be tbh. Iconic. Songs added to playlist: - Hanging On The Telephone - One Way Or Another - Heart Of Glass - Just Go Away

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Dec 16 2025

this was a super cool concept, but not sure how much I loved it. The most interesting bits were when the samples were very evident, and the samples of interviews etc. I found the rest was a bit background noisy unfortunately 2.5/5 I think Songs added to playlist: - Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt - What Does Your Soul Look Like - Pt. 4 - Midnight In A Perfect World

Strange Cargo III by William Orbit
Dec 17 2025

My second '90s instrumental album that clocks in at just over 1 hour in two days..... Think I prefer this one? No clue though Some really fun things here. A fun mix of genres. Listened to this while watering my houseplants and doing some needlepoint embroidery. Felt correct. Not sure I'd go back and listen to it again, but not mad that I've heard it. Songs added to playlist: - Water From A Vine Leaf - The Story Of Light - Gringatcho Demento

Dec 18 2025

Nostalgia baybeee let's goooooo!!! Standouts are deffo the singles. One of the most recognisable sounds of our time. Incredible to have come up with that on a debut album - where do you go from there??! Not quite as keen on the rest of the tracks, but I did like Pieces of What, Of Moons, Birds & Monsters, and Future Reflections. Not as much! But that's a high bar I decided I wanted to give this a 4 pretty much before it started. If I'm being objective it's probably a high 3, but I'm giving it some extra credit because the singles are BANGERS thank you Songs added to playlist (no surprises here): - Time to Pretend - Electric Feel - Kids

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Dec 19 2025

Fun!! 3.5/5 Songs added to playlist: - Bongo Bong - Mentira - Luna y sol - Welcome to Tijuana

!!! Volume all the way up for this one Songs added to playlist (was tempting to add them all): - Pt. I - Acknowledgement - Pt. IV - Psalm

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Dec 23 2025

I always enjoy listening to The Smashing Pumpkins much more than I think I will. Wasn't looking forward to two hours of this but actually had a v nice time Don't know if I'll listen to the whole album back to front again, but not mad that I heard it. I was reorganising my kitchen at the same time, so the songs added to my playlist weren't really done with much thought. Would have added more, I liked more than those four songs, but my hands were full ! Kitchen looks great now btw, my recipe books are finally out on display instead of hidden in a cupboard Songs added to playlist: - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness - Tonight, Tonight - 1979 - Beautiful

Vivid by Living Colour
Dec 24 2025

Hadn't heard Living Colour before, but I really enjoyed this! Got me through the pre-Christmas oven clean easy ready V interesting how the band has the UK spelling of colour in their name, but use the American spelling in What's Your Favourite Color?. Wonder why Songs added to playlist: - Cult of Personality - Open Letter (To a Landlord) - What's Your Favourite Color? - Funny Vibe - Funky Vibe Mix - Should I Stay Or Should I Go

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

Play by Moby
Dec 29 2025

Didn't mind listening to this at all. Good magazine reading music. Part of me couldn't help wondering if I would rather be listening to the samples used in the album instead. Apparently when I was wee I used to always cry to Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? I don't remember this at all. I also don't feel that now Really trying to rate less albums 3/5, but there's nothing else I can give this Songs added to playlist: - Honey - Porcelain - Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Dec 30 2025

Yeah! I don't know how to rate this! Didn't mind listening to it at all, enjoyed most of it, a nice 39 minutes 3.5 I think? Rounded down, but honestly could go either way Songs added to playlist: - The Beat - Pump It Up - Radio, Radio

Eagles by Eagles
Dec 31 2025

Had fun listening to this! Nothing particularly outstanding or jarring. Just the Eagles baby Song added to playlist: - Take It Easy

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Jan 01 2026

I'm sorry but I do not ! get on with this. I don't really know why I think I just find it. Jarring. Grating. I don't know! I'm sorry Run-D.M.C. I'm sure you're lovely, it's not you it's me When I was like, 8 or 9 I realised that I didn't like Walk This Way. I think it was when I was watching Racing Stripes at a friend's house, which very much dates this story. I haven't thought about Racing Stripes since then, and I'm not mad about it. I was REALLY upset when Girls Aloud and the Sugababes covered Walk This Way for Comic Relief. I really feel like I should add Walk This Way to my playlist, but I can't bring myself to do it. Song added to playlist: - It's Tricky

Heroes by David Bowie
Jan 02 2026

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh The title track is great, obviously. But I didn't really get anything else from the rest of the album I feel like I should give this at least a 3, come on, it's David Bowie! But I've had three Bowie albums in this project so far, and each one of them I've wanted to like more than I actually do. And I think this is my least favourite of the bunch 2.5, with at least one of those points for Heroes (the song) alone Rounded down, soz Song added to playlist: - Heroes

Parachutes by Coldplay
Jan 05 2026

about 12 years ago I saw someone write something like "saying Coldplay is your favourite band is like saying your favourite colour is beige" and oh boy ! that's stuck with me Honourable mention to the kiss cam at that Coldplay concert catching that cheating CEO I hadn't heard most of this, and I didn't mind listening to this at all. I also liked the bonus track, which I'd obviously never heard. Sure, it's a bit beige, a bit dull, but that's fine Songs added to playlist: - Sparks - Yellow

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jan 06 2026

I really respect Jack White as a musician AND this album started off so well that I was convinced it was going to be at least a 4, but it lost me somewhere along the way and I'm not sure why. Might check out some of The White Stripes' later stuff and see how that sits, but I wasn't blown away by this unfortunately. 3.25/5 Songs added to playlist: - Seven Nation Army - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

Actually by Pet Shop Boys

Jan 08 2026

Yeah this is beautiful Songs added to playlist: - The Man Comes Around - Hurt - In My Life - We'll Meet Again

Jan 09 2026

Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) is SO GOOD that it unfortunately makes the rest of the album look worse by comparison. Enjoyed a lot of this. Was hoping to enjoy it more. 3.5/5, rounded up Songs added to playlist: - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) - Jennifer - This City Never Sleeps

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 12 2026

War by U2
Jan 16 2026

Yeah, sure. Wasn't feeling it in the middle bit it picked back up. Songs added to playlist: - Sunday Bloody Sunday - New Year's Day - Red Light - Surrender

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
Jan 28 2026

No thank you The first half of the album especially difficult to get through. It wasn't necessarily grating, just bad. I was feeling slightly more generous about this album and then we got to the alternate american metaphysical circus. HORRID. One star for that alone Songs added to playlist: - I Wouldn't Leave My Wooden Wife For You - Do You Follow Me

Pink Flag by Wire
Jan 29 2026

Oh baby we love and respect a short song. Thank you This was fun! I would have eaten this up as a wean. I'd probably like it more if I listened to it on headphones instead of speakers but that's a choice that I made 3.5/5 Songs added to playlist: - Ex Lion Tamer - Mannequin

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Jan 30 2026

Loved loved loved the beginning of this, but it faded to background noise by the end. 3.5/5, rounded up Songs added to playlist: - I Wanna Be Adored - She Bangs the Drums - Waterfall

Guero by Beck
Feb 02 2026

Ughhhhh. It's fine but I truly can't be bothered with it 2.5/5 Songs added to playlist: - E-Pro - Go It Alone - Send A Message To Her - Non-LP Version

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Feb 03 2026

Feels weird not to be adding Thriller to the playlist when it's the title track but..... it's not my favourite! Think this is a 3.5. When it's great it's great, but when it's not it's.... just fine. What is that Paul McCartney song all about please Songs added to playlist: - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' - Beat It - Billie Jean - P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Feb 04 2026

I've not really listened to Leonard Cohen before, although I've always thought of myself as someone who likes him. It's not a wrong thought, just a weird one for someone who's never listened to him before. I watched Inside LLewyn Davis recently and I think I thought that was about Leonard Cohen. Obviously it's not, but my brain clearly went "Cohen? Coen brothers? absolutely, same thing". Sure gal I like this a lot. 4.5/5 - rounded up, why not Songs added to playlist: - Suzanne - The Stranger Song - So Long, Marianne - Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye - One of Us Cannot Be Wrong

Devil Without A Cause by Kid Rock
Feb 05 2026

The only Kid Rock song I want to listen to is All Summer Long, and that's basically just Sweet Home Alabama. This doesn't start horribly tbh. Song one and two are fine. By song 6 I detested the man. Shut up!!! Songs added to playlist: - Bawitdaba - Cowboy

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Feb 06 2026

I looked at my finances spreadsheet while doing this. Fitting! Both are boring. Finance spreadsheet much less offensive than this however. Not mad at this as background music, far too long an album though. 2.5/5, rounded down Songs added to playlist: - The Suburbs - Empty Room - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Feb 09 2026

Decent. Kind of boring. Liked more of this than I thought I would. 3.5/5 Songs added to playlist: - Welcome To The Working Week - Alison - Mystery Dance - I'm Not Angry
