The Bends
RadioheadThe perfect soundtrack for my early 20's angst. I find it fascinating that they released this right after Pablo honey and creep... in my pretentious opinion it is so leagues ahead that it kind of tickles me. I LOVE RADIOHEAD!!

can’t deny that it’s good but no new songs grabbed me besides the ones i already knew :(
some bananas awesome guitar on this
not my super jam (hahaha)
don’t….. looooove
literally seamlessly perfect
such a shame kanye’s brain is swiss cheese bc this album is incredible. go listen to lost in the world and maybe you’ll feel better
Ouuuh.... theatrical albums. Ah. Not for me I fear, the dramatics just annoy me. Supermassive blackhole this post is not about you though baby
I mean, yeah. Influential, scattered, magnificent. Nothing else new can really be said about this album. Didn't fully connect with me in parts however, and I think the Siouxsie and the Banshees version of Dear Prudence is better
I like The Rolling Stones. I don't like mick jaggers love for younger women but . I do like this album sort of
VCR has remained one of my favorite songs since middle school. In all honesty, I appreciate this album as the cultural monolith it was at the time, practically a bible for American Apparel wearing Tumblr try-hards. I am not sure if nostalgia is clouding my perception but it soundtracks such a specific section of Gen Z online experience... ugh. I'm re-blogging black and white gifs of Alex turner again. A little surprised this album is on this list.
come on. Let's get real pretty please.
I don't think this is really my thing but I do love praise you
Morrissey im afraid they could never make me like you
oh come on. no contest. 5 stars
- Was about to write something about how I have heard something like this before but realized this was released in 1979 saur. Have to agree that it was probably a pretty trailblazing piece of work at the time. Not sure if it's entirely my speed in its entirety, but chunks of it I really really enjoy. - at home he's a tourist is fantastic - overall enjoyed one or two tracks off this but I don't think I will be returning to it anytime soon
this is awful fun!! Indie sleaze revival in full swing. The Dare you're nothing. I don't really like the slower stuff on this album though im sorry.... womp womp
22 SONGS>????
not my jam I think but I can respect it
- I think I deffo like punk more in a live setting, it just feels a little lame sitting here listening to it.
I've never really considered myself an Elton fan and while this album has not changed that, I did really like a couple tracks. Tiny Dancer is a classic of course, and i liked Levon.
you know what yeah sure. favs r get on top and californiacation. the rest I could live without
I get why this is on here I really really do . it's quite the experience. I dont think I'll be returning to it beyond background noise
4.5 more accurately .
twas fun! good studying dance music
Dreamy, melty, mechanical album. Loved it so much.
masterpiece me thinks. Every song crushes me in a new fun way
New fav!!! WOAH mama !
this is fun I had fun. grind core is a very accurate genre title for this. I don't think this will be an album I return to but what an interesting listen! 3.5/5
Some songs are solid but I really don't think this should be on this list. I think people can and will live without listening to this.
Groovy and chill. This sort of electronic music is more my speed than 90's club bangers to do speed to
im sorry. I dont like reggae . I dont im sorry.
Cute! I like a good old country album. Nothing really *stood* stood out to me though. Soz
not my favorite Stevie :( but still, so groovy and well produced, gotta give it a four. not a five since I don't see myself returning to it with any regularity.
This could be pure nostalgia speaking but this album defined my teenage years. Masterpiece !!!!!! idgaf.
skipped through the song and artist introductions/vamping i’m soz. live jazz is incredible . does anyone else remember how duke ellingtons ghost is a character in hit netflix show big mouth .
what the hell, sure. good background music for reading, the instrumentals (especially the drums and that awesome spacey guitar) really dug those! blended together a lot for me though which was great for reading but I am not sure if that’s something i do or do not enjoy overall. the fun powder plot is good.
4.5/5, first two tracks took me a minute to get into but by the time I was at track 3 I was in all the way. Bumped up to 5. This is fantastic
those piano moments … ough 3.5/5
i get why this is on here but like everyone else who has a less than 5 score for this says, not the beatles best. womp womp. if you’re in this not for music history but purely musical enjoyment (which is not to say music history adds to music enjoyment, duh) this album is juuuuuust fine. also why was Paul the cute Beatle its obviously George.
Yeah, like it's solid. Nothing that really breaks new ground for me, but there's some strong hits on here. Steven Tyler's voice is pretty awesome will not lie. Walk this way... classic. Makes me want to own leather pants. Does lose steam for me in the latter half of the album, the effect wears off and becomes grating rather than exhilarating for me. Album finisher was especially exhausting for me, I was mentally begging for it to end. 2.5/5
These songs remind me of the Saw franchise. Or of like. Tony Hawk skating video games
Surprised by the divisiveness on this album on this site? Hey not to be that guy but if you listen to backseat freestyle and think thats his honest to god mentality I need you to like, read a book. if you didn't rock with this album because you just don't like rap, thats fine we all have our preferences! However, if you're dismissing it as 'disgusting' or 'braggadocios' because you take everything he says at face value rather than him trying to compose a narrative, please, think a bit harder about the art you consume, read the lyrics, ect ect. Sit with it! its a little presumptuous to assume that a rap song can't have nuance to it because it doesn't sound like the music you normally consume. Anywho.
back again with another "what the hell, sure." I can admire that this album is sonically consistent and cohesive, even if it made me think that several of the individual songs were one big long one.
what a weird and funny album! Dig it.
This was actually a lot more strange and fun than i thought it would be!!! i had only heard girls just want to have fun and time after time before so what a pleasant surprise
does anyone else remember that SNL promo where James Austin Johnson plays bob Dylan and he misremembers musical guest Chappell roan as Charles Mingus. funny stuff. Anyways this is a fantastic album. starting to get a real love for jazz through this project which I 'preciate. Almost makes up for how many mediocre albums it pushes <3
hey that was gorgeous !!!
god her voice and the guitar ... what a combo!! I can't believe I have never listened to this before
yeah... ok! I liked a couple of these. I could get behind this.
two kendrick Lamar albums in a two week span!! what a treat!!! Wesleys theory is such a cool and awesomely layered track, just one million things that my brain catches onto. Thematically has some connecting threads to good kid m.A.A.d city-- similar ideas of bravado and rap music/industries glorification of excess is more harmful to the community making the music(and to America in general), as well as Lamars commentary on black peoples experience in America. Additionally- religious guilt and the devil being entwined with this same ideal of lavish living and overconsumption!! Agh!!! While I loved m.A.A.d city, I think I enjoy the instrumental composition of this one -- I'm discovering via this project I'm a sucker for horns. Some other disjointed thoughts: Alright is one of the best songs ever made and I will stand by that until the day I die!!! Blacker the berry is one of the best tracks on this, lyrically dense and rich. The difference between "I" on this album versus the single version is interesting
Hey, I actually liked it in moments. I just think it's far too long. Good chunks of this could have been cut and this project would have been elevated to like, a four. easy
I lived with a guy who loved Tom Petty for 2/3 of my middle school years, and relentlessly teased him for it. When Petty died however, I have a vivid memory of him sitting at our kitchen table listening to free-falling with a beer, staring off into nothing. To this day the song makes me cry at the thought of the look of devastation on his face. That being said, this album is alright. You can hear the potential though! American girl is a classic.
recently I read some Joan Didion where she recounts an experience she had in the studio with the Doors where they all essentially sat around all bored waiting for Morrison to show up, and until now, that was my entire knowledge of them. And I feel with this album, as I do with many of the albums they give me that were considered groundbreaking and revolutionary in the 60/70s is that yeah, I can see how they were groundbreaking. I can! Does that make me listen and get on my knees and praise god these men met and made music? Not exactly. Like, it's fine. Morrison was really hot though, may he rest in peace.
my head was bobbing
One of the more unfortunate things about this project is finding an album, starting to dig it, opening the reviews and seeing people talking about how much of a scumbag the artist is. I normally try to abide by the separate the art from the artist mentality when reviewing work, but it is definitely difficult. That being said, I liked this album. strong songwriting, I liked the harmonica on 'why do they leave', I do think the songs started to blend together after a while, however. Toward the end ... I was falling asleep a little. 3.5/5
reminds me of my mom
Did not know miss xcx sampled the opening track for this... feeling #silly. Other than that fun bit, I don't know if this was something I neeeeeeded to hear before I die. But you know, to each their own.
I NEED A BEER, I NEED A JOINT, AND I NEED THIS ALBUM!
i think i like my jazz a bit crazier than this but this is still beautiful! whenever i read the word samba i think of sex and the city . samantha voice: i got reservations to samba
graphic design is my passion.
I do love a sample heavy project it's like skipping through a radio stations. This is rich !!! So much fun!!! Lost me a couple times but really easily brought me right back in with fun rhymes even more fun beats and, again, those awesome samples. God I wish I could have seen these guys live - Favs: High plains drifter, 3-Minute rule, Looking down the barrel of a gun, B-Boy Bouillabaisse: A year and a day.
The perfect soundtrack for my early 20's angst. I find it fascinating that they released this right after Pablo honey and creep... in my pretentious opinion it is so leagues ahead that it kind of tickles me. I LOVE RADIOHEAD!!
feeling like a fly encased in syrup. I think I like beach house in flashes, this is a great album for days that stretch like taffy and sunburn your knees. Also, a connector for us all-- silver soul is sampled in another 1001 album alums work: kendrick Lamar's money trees. u should go check it out :)
what the hell, sure
I am only on track three but based off of the sort of mythos Black Sabbath has, I was fully expecting something much more intense. That is not a negative thing at all though, the intensity of this album came through in how it felt like sludging through thick black concrete, smoke, and tar. loved it !!!
no middle school nostalgia for this one
