Fever To Tell
Yeah Yeah YeahsThis is nearly unlistenable. A struggle to get through. After listening to 60 albums I found 3 or 4 surprises. Good ones. This is a bad surprise. Literally nothing redeeming about this one. Blahhhhhhh

It’s good. It’s not great. But….That voice is amazing. By far the best song here is Me & Bobby McGee. Janis could have gone this route country wise. It’s a shame. The album starts of strong, but these are not that different from her earlier stuff. That said, it’s still 4 stars for her voice and the three standout songs.
Pleasant enough. Meandering. Instrumentals ok. Not really my thing but I get it
Strong album, and a solid album. But 4 of the songs really stand out and there are a few mediocre tracks, keeping this one at the four star level. ZZ has a sound of their own and it’s pretty great.
80’s production sounds and stuck in its time. Not very modern. That said, Tina Turner has a phenomenal singing voice, elevating mediocre material. Highlights. The hit What’s love got to do with it. Private dancer, the Mark Knopfler written song, Better be good to me. When the material is good, it’s good. When it’s mediocre, it lands a bit flat. Highly overrated. 3 stars. Would give it 2.5 if I could.
It’s a classic. Pretty much perfect start to finish. Not much I need to add
It’s 1977. That’s important. But this is not punk. It has punk ethos. But these guys are impressive and talented instrumentalists. This is a very influential album. The twin guitar work influenced Wilco, a lot. But how are the songs? They are decent. It’s not my favorite. It’s also tough to get past Tom Verlaines vocals. That said, the music is very good. The guitars are great. So I’m torn. I am not gonna play this one for fun. It’s an album critics loved. I’m going with three stars because they are great players. Docked a star for average vocals and non memorable songs. Highlights are See no evil and Marquee Moon
Using Zeppelin samples and guitar licks, the Beastie boys first official album is carefully crafted and catchy. They would take sampling to another level with Paul’s Boutique, their next album which sold a lot less, but is considered a classic and also is the precursor to sample copyright laws.
I don’t care how influential a band is. This is awful. Kick in the eye 2 is the only decent song otherwise this would be a zero for me. Hated it.
I know this album so well. Classic and fantastic.
This was an eye opener. Wow. This is a fantastic album. Lots of soul, organic funky beats and original hip hop. Man I’m impressed. Easy 5 stars. This is why I am listening to 1001 albums, otherwise I would never have heard this.
Intense album. Super angry. Melodic here and there. Very creative. Important question though. Will I put this back on again for a relisten? The album is melodic in fits and starts. Tracks 2-6 are surprisingly melodic. While 1 and 7 could use a melody or two. This is not easy listening music. Of course we get track 8 which is catchy after the monotony of track 7. All told, Fiona Apple has her own sound, and she’s very talented. I enjoyed this. But I can’t see me listening to this ever for fun. 3.8 stars
It’s good. You can hear a Kate Bush influence in places. A bit much of the Antiniff touch, but it stands up on its own. Needed a few listens to like this one. 3.75 stars.
I enjoyed it. Some solid songs. But not essential by any means.
Pretty good. Have not heard this before. A bit derivative but worth a listen.
Top 10 album of all time. Genius. Never gets old.
Very good. Will need another listen but old school funky soul rap
Nice. I heard this album years ago and forgot about it. Very original and melodic. Could use a few more actual choruses but the sound textures are pretty great.
A grower. Listened to it twice. Great focus and solid songwriting. Second side in my opinion much better than first side. 3.75 stars
It’s fun. They can play. It’s goofy. But some nice riffs. 3.4 stars.
It seems very commercial as far as slipknot goes. I don’t know their other stuff but it’s not bad. 3 stars
4 stars for originality and musicianship.
Side 1 is a solid 5 stars. Great comcept song with multi parts. Melodic and instrumentally virtuosic and catchy. Side 2 dips a little. Bangkok , twilight zone excellent tunes and lessons also good, tears is just ok. Something for nothing is very good as well. I will give this 5 stars. But a 5 star album should not have any mediocre tracks. If this was on a scale of 10 it would be a 9. I give it 4.6.
This is schlocky and awful. 70s drivel. Some redeeming qualities, but overall unlistenable.
This album is great. Stunning vocals. Great musicians. Great songs. Will be coming back to this.
Bit disjointed of a concept album. But America, Mrs Robinson. Makes any album great. Plus, everything else is really good anyway. 4.5 stars
Not very good. All music gives this 4.5? Seriously wow. Maybe 4 decent songs on album, a few written by Nesmith, one decent Tork tune and a decent Dolenz tune. Bland unoriginal pop 2.1 stars .
Pretty good. Not really my style. But the musicianship is excellent and there are some very good songs. 3.5 stars
It’s everything they say it is. But, as inventive and melodic as it is, it still lacks those songs that are ear worms. I’m sorry, if rubber soul is a 5, this is not a 5. I will give it 4.4.
Great voice. Some songs are great. Some average.
Not terrible.
Meh
Super ambitious and proggy. Love this album. Never heard any of it before. 4.5
Solid blue note early 60s jazz. Nothing mind blowing, but between the great organ comping, Turrantines sad and Kenny Burrells guitar, this is elevated to another level.
I don’t know. It’s ok. Nothing special here. A few good songs. Trying too hard
I never understood this stuff. Bad singing. Not much in terms of dynamics or melodies. As a musician, I’m not impressed. Amateur crap
Pretty solid. Could do without a few of these songs. Pretty tough in spots but no denying Cobains songwriting skills.
Fantastic album. Crack live band. VAN THE MAN. what a find. I was not aware of this great live album.
Beastie boys supremely talented. They are very good at what they do and that including actually playing their instruments. The album is funky and catchy and the instrumentals are placed just right and are worthy in their own right. These guys were geniuses.
Can you give an album 6 stars? Damn. Stones at the top of their game. Amazing album.
What is the point of this album and why is it on this list. Because Trevor Horn is talented? No consistency here, and just a lot of 80s programming and garbage writing. A few decent tracks. Admittedly. I like welcome to the pleasuredome and relax. You can keep the rest. 2 stars because it’s not completely worthless
At first listen, I was driving and it annoyed the hell out of me. Tried again but didn’t get it. Gave it another chance. With headphones. So it’s definitely not for everyone. But it’s growing on me. But still, I don’t think I will be coming back to it. It has some nice prog, but so much noodling and meandering. I tried.
It’s ok. I can get into some songs. But it’s not my favorite. 2.8
Bored me. Some interesting sounds. 2.4
Yes, too many bongos. But it’s fun in places and it grooves. 3.5. Could be either 3 or 4. I’m going with 4 today. Tomorrow could be 3.
Well, I’m a big Dylan fan so of course this is going to get 5 stars. But really, such a sound if its own. No one sounded like this then or now. Incredible lyrics, catchy rhythmic songs. Who finishes an album with its alright ma and it’s all over now baby blue. That’s insane. 10 stars.
Solid self made album. Catch melodies. Proved himself a major talent right off the bat. So impressed by this. Will need to check out more foo fighters.
Difficult to find this one. Used playlist on Spotify. Just amazing stuff. Fats was awesome.
It’s better than I expected. I’m getting a whole education in 80s and 90s hip hop. It’s fun and funky. I have a little issue with some of the samples. Would be better if they were less obvious. But overall a fun listen.
There is no one that sounds like the Stones. Utterly original. Their blues and their country sounds like only them. And it’s amazing how good the songs are. Ridiculous album. This started a great run of classic albums. Highly recommended!
Not really my thing, but I can see the influence and the style.
It’s decent. Some songs are very good. Others not. Inventive and catchy in places. Annoying and grating in others. So 3 stars.
Fast car is an excellent song. The rest here suffers from sameness. It’s a bit of a bore. I respect the message and her vocals. But it doesn’t do much for me unfortunately.
It’s fine. Likely polarizing. I don’t love it but I could grow to like it more. Great vocals. Creative chords and melodies. Pretty dated though.
Love this album. But not my favorite Joni. That’s Court and Spark, a more mature album. Highlights for me, this flight tonight, California, Tiver, my old man and Carey. Almost perfect, but not quite there. 4.8
The first 4 songs of this album are unreal. What a start to the album. The last three songs are solid. This is a classic. I grew up with these songs and they do not get old. Easy 5 stars.
I am a huge yes fan. And this album is fantastic. Incredibly original. Amazing musicianship. Best Yes album after Close to the edge. Starship trooper. Cmon. Sick. Yours is no disgrace!! Saw Jon Anderson and the geeks recently. Both songs were performed and were fantastic. One of my favorite albums of all time. 5 stars plus.
This is nearly unlistenable. A struggle to get through. After listening to 60 albums I found 3 or 4 surprises. Good ones. This is a bad surprise. Literally nothing redeeming about this one. Blahhhhhhh
Didn’t like it at all. Cookie cutter crap.
Not your normal jazz session. It’s momentous. Fantastic music. Not much else I can say.
Not my cuppa tea
It’s hard to rate one of the greatest albums of all time. All I can say is nothing sounded like this before Jimi. This was hugely influential and still kicks ass today. People complaining about jamming? Cmon. There is so much quality songwriting here it’s unreal. Not easy to mix jamming in like this and it’s not too much at all. It’s a work of pure genius. Although, little kiss strange kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.
I like it a lot. Too many covers though. Although summer breeze is quite nice. I’ll be looking at other Isley brothers albums for sure. Funky and soulful.
Lots of talent here. I liked cherry-colored funk but it’s pretty much goes downhill from there. Too much of the same thing going on. It’s not bad, it’s just not my thing.
It’s heavy. Almost a 5 star album. But I’ve heard the next few albums and they are better.
Back in the day I thought some of this stuff was good. Maybe some of the later stuff. s far as this album goes, it’s funky, but annoying. Blah.
