The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band
Sep 05 2025

Unusual, although not at the time. Not one of my favourites and prefer the earlier works.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Sep 06 2025

Pure 70s pop, not great and wouldn’t make my top 1000 or 2000 for that.

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Sep 07 2025

..very poppy- not for me despite the fact I like electronic sounds

Bad by Michael Jackson
Sep 08 2025

Pop in the best way

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Sep 09 2025

Great album with Greta production for the time of its release

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Sep 11 2025

Good debt album. Wasn’t sure when it first came out. Saw them live in Clapham, found them a bit boring. Album has grown on me over the years. Now one of my favourites

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Sep 12 2025

Great album, first of I suppose the new wave, that I liked, but that is personal as other than the Cure it was a genre which I enjoyed particularly. Reflects a time when I got back to the 50s and 60s with R&R, blues and proper R&B. But back to the album - heavy and dark, probably a new wave Black Sabbath - probably why I liked it so much. Favourite track -

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Sep 13 2025

Pure American pop, prefer him with Garfunkel. Again not sure what this is doing in the top 1000

Tago Mago by Can
Sep 14 2025

Great album, best album by Can, needs to be played loud in a darkened room😂

Eagles by Eagles
Sep 15 2025

Excellent album from start to end

The Doors by The Doors
Sep 17 2025

Two stand out songs obviously, but overall a great album

Sep 18 2025

Enjoyed this, first time of hearing - now part of my ambient collection. Reminded me a bit of Portishead without the vocals.

Sep 19 2025

Interesting album, my first listen. I would imagine they were or are great live.

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Sep 21 2025

Not great, Faust and Can did this type of music a lot better than this. It’s a one from me

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Sep 22 2025

Not the greatest debut album, hasn’t aged well. Psycho Killer the only stand out track

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Sep 23 2025

So many classic tracks on one album - it’s a 5 Star for me

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Sep 24 2025

Wasn’t sure at first, but grew on me and went back to listen a second time. Enjoyed it.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Sep 25 2025

Not my bag at all, tried listening to it, but rap and opera are the only two genres I struggle with. It’s a no star for me.

Tragic Songs of Life by The Louvin Brothers
Sep 26 2025

Excellent, blue grass and country . Also an see where harmonies such as the Everley Brothers came from

Aja by Steely Dan
Sep 27 2025

American soft rock at its worst. One star from me

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Sep 29 2025

Had not heard this before today, loved it. Don’t know why I shied away from VU, but I suppose my taste has become more eclectic as I have got older.

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Sep 30 2025

Another 1st listen for me, and have to say this is v good. Hi praise from someone who hated 80s music😂

Timeless by Goldie
Oct 01 2025

Wasn’t going to listen to this, but glad I did, really liked it.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Oct 02 2025

Ok ish but not a great album, certainly wouldn’t put it into the top 1000

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Oct 03 2025

Like the relaxed tracks, nice summer grooves

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Oct 04 2025

Post punk average rock

Moving Pictures by Rush
Oct 05 2025

Makes you see why punk came to the forefront

Nowhere by Ride
Oct 06 2025

Liked this on first listen, needs another couple of listens but would give it 3 stars

Terrific vocalist as demonstrated on ‘I really don’t want to know’. The other thing I like about this, and a lot of C&W of the time is the great backing musicians that Nashville used in the 50s and 60s before it all got watered down in the70s. No wonder they had their punk period with the Outlaws

Tonight's The Night by Neil Young
Oct 10 2025

I find Neil youngs music a bit like marmite. Some albums I love some to me are just boring. This one falls in the latter

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Oct 11 2025

Always liked Jonny Marr’s guitar work and the bands musicality. But Morrisey - a waste of space. 1 star from me

Oct 13 2025

Predecessor to many a great album, shame Parsons and McGuinn only stayed together for this album

John Prine by John Prine
Oct 16 2025

Great album, Greta lyrics, possibly a bit of it’s time but still some poignant lyrics which just shows we haven’t come that far in 50 years

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Oct 18 2025

Superb album

White Light by Gene Clark
Oct 20 2025

Very laidback country rock, can hear his influence he had on the Byrds despite leaving in 66

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Oct 22 2025

One of the few good 80s rock albums, always amazed that the legacy of Punk seemed to be bland mor rock as produced by Bon Jovi, Asia Aerosmith and the likes

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Oct 23 2025

Proper rock and an album deserving of its place within the top 1000

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Oct 25 2025

Solid album from the period, stand out track obviously Proud Mary. But generally pretty good.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Oct 30 2025

Quit poppy, but enjoyed it

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Oct 31 2025

First listen for me, enjoyed it, but not a great album

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Nov 01 2025

Whilst it may have been influential at the time, other than a couple of numbers it hasn’t aged well.

Vivid by Living Colour
Nov 03 2025

One or two good tracks, the rest average American 80s rock, not the best genre

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Nov 04 2025

Great album which I came to lately. Had numerous Muddy vinyl in th70s including the outstanding Hard Again, and was lucky enough to see him on his final uk tour in 77 at the New Vic. The band on this recording are extremely tight, which when reading the history of the build up and civil unrest the day before is surprising. Great album 5 star from me.

Fever Ray by Fever Ray
Nov 07 2025

Average electronic album, nothing special or inventive I’m afraid

Document by R.E.M.
Nov 08 2025

Not their best by any means but a couple of good tracks

Pink Flag by Wire
Nov 09 2025

One of the best disco albums, not my favourite genre, but amazingly well produced

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Nov 11 2025

The start of a genre!

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Nov 12 2025

Ok ish Clapton, quite laid back, you can to start to feel the JJ Cale influences.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Nov 13 2025

Other than the singles, never did get in tomSly, preferred GCS, Funkadelic, and the Ohio Players, but suppose this is where it starts

Smile by Brian Wilson
Nov 14 2025

Poor

Odelay by Beck
Nov 17 2025

Can’t quite make my mind up on this, like I; parts, dislike in others

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Nov 18 2025

Loved this album from first listen, all band on top form

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Nov 19 2025

A couple of reasonable tracks, and you can see where it could go, but overall nothing ground breaking.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Nov 20 2025

Greta album, still sounds fresh 50 years later

Nov 21 2025

First listened to this in mid 70s when I fell out of love with the music being pushed out at the time, started listening to Blues, Rock and Roll and 60s Soul and this along with live at Monterey was an absolute stand out for me

Revolver by Beatles
Dec 12 2025

One of my all time favourites

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Dec 20 2025

My second favourite BS album after Master of Reality which was the second album I purchased. Floyd Atom Heart was the first and Deep Purple, Machine Head third. Great album in my opinion

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Jan 02 2026

American 80s soft rock pop, very much of the 80s

Jan 03 2026

Change of direction for Dylan and the start of his second phase of great song writing

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Jan 05 2026

Great album, but very much of an age, some songs remain firm favourites but overall hasn’t aged well

Tapestry by Carole King
Jan 10 2026

Great album with classic songs that gs which stand the test of time

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Jan 13 2026

Feb 08 2026

Average by Costello standards

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Feb 11 2026

Probably my least favourite DS album, other than the very lack lustre last.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Feb 14 2026

Probably the best of the MOR Fleetwood Mac, but no comparison to the original band.

Kimono My House by Sparks
Feb 23 2026

It was certainly different when it was released, not a favourite at the time, but can see how it influenced a lot of artists who followed on

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 24 2026

Difficult to get into at first, but definitely a classic

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Mar 08 2026

Apr 02 2026

Great album, but very much of a time, very much an English icon.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Apr 03 2026

Other than the opening track never had the same impact as DSoM and started the demise of creative Floyd with Waters taking too much control.

Was never sure about this album, prefer the earlier two and Exile is exceptional. Wild Horses was the only highlight

May 14 2026

Probably my favourite Genesis album, however that is rather limited, as probably the only one I liked other than the Genius Live album
