1001 Albums Summary

Unusual, although not at the time. Not one of my favourites and prefer the earlier works.

Pure 70s pop, not great and wouldn’t make my top 1000 or 2000 for that.

Good debt album. Wasn’t sure when it first came out. Saw them live in Clapham, found them a bit boring. Album has grown on me over the years. Now one of my favourites

Great album, first of I suppose the new wave, that I liked, but that is personal as other than the Cure it was a genre which I enjoyed particularly. Reflects a time when I got back to the 50s and 60s with R&R, blues and proper R&B. But back to the album - heavy and dark, probably a new wave Black Sabbath - probably why I liked it so much. Favourite track -

Pure American pop, prefer him with Garfunkel. Again not sure what this is doing in the top 1000

Great album, best album by Can, needs to be played loud in a darkened room😂

Excellent album from start to end

Two stand out songs obviously, but overall a great album

Enjoyed this, first time of hearing - now part of my ambient collection. Reminded me a bit of Portishead without the vocals.

Interesting album, my first listen. I would imagine they were or are great live.

Overhyped

Not great, Faust and Can did this type of music a lot better than this. It’s a one from me

Had not heard this before today, loved it. Don’t know why I shied away from VU, but I suppose my taste has become more eclectic as I have got older.

Great, two albums really, been a long while since I have listened to it in full.

Terrific vocalist as demonstrated on ‘I really don’t want to know’. The other thing I like about this, and a lot of C&W of the time is the great backing musicians that Nashville used in the 50s and 60s before it all got watered down in the70s. No wonder they had their punk period with the Outlaws

My favourite R&LT album

I find Neil youngs music a bit like marmite. Some albums I love some to me are just boring. This one falls in the latter

Always liked Jonny Marr’s guitar work and the bands musicality. But Morrisey - a waste of space. 1 star from me

Predecessor to many a great album, shame Parsons and McGuinn only stayed together for this album

One of the few good 80s rock albums, always amazed that the legacy of Punk seemed to be bland mor rock as produced by Bon Jovi, Asia Aerosmith and the likes

Great album which I came to lately. Had numerous Muddy vinyl in th70s including the outstanding Hard Again, and was lucky enough to see him on his final uk tour in 77 at the New Vic. The band on this recording are extremely tight, which when reading the history of the build up and civil unrest the day before is surprising. Great album 5 star from me.

Other than the singles, never did get in tomSly, preferred GCS, Funkadelic, and the Ohio Players, but suppose this is where it starts

Greta album, still sounds fresh 50 years later

First listened to this in mid 70s when I fell out of love with the music being pushed out at the time, started listening to Blues, Rock and Roll and 60s Soul and this along with live at Monterey was an absolute stand out for me
