1001 Albums Summary

This album reminds me of popcorn at the movies. Enjoyable enough and ubiquitous.

If you ignore the producer, it's a great Xmas album.

Influential, but lackluster in context of Bowie's catalogue.

Dang, it's a good concert album and 'Still in Love with You" is a great rock ballad, which I don't think I've ever heard before. Also, I didn't realize how much of The Will To Live by Titus Andronicus was influenced by Thin Lizzy.

It's ok.

Meh.

Good album, but not for a road trip. Ooof.

This reminds me of wonderful Christmases past at the Davidson's listening to a Brazilian jam band and having a great time.

Bizarre and funky and intriguing.

A good listen, but won't make it into the rotation.

Love love love

Do I like it because I know it or do I know it because I like it?

Influential and interesting.

I can't believe that I listened to this whole album. 'Milquetoast' came to mind when listening. I felt like i was sitting in the dental chair at the orthodontist involuntarily listening to the radio circa 1994. I bet the dental assistants loved Culture Club. Why was the last song on this album an instrumental number? Weird.

Glad I listened to this.

I understand why this is on the list, but I wouldn't listen to it again.

It's was OK, but nothing was memorable.

Logan and I listened to this togethet and he said I should give this album a 5. Alas, not my jam but I see why people like it.

If there hadn't been a plane crash, do you think this band would have the same staying power?

It is pop music. Not terrible, but not my thing.

So good.

Its hard not to be contrarian about MIA, but I can also say this specific album isn't it for me. Paper Airplanes does continue to be a banger though.

What a weird band to get popular and be a cultural phenomenon.

I feel like there are 3 different albums/bands happening I n this album.

It started with a terrible cover of one of my favorite songs and it didn't get better.

I may be the odd man out with this album, but there are some really great tracks here. Also, to be fair, it was one of our in the car CDs from 2008-2010 soI know this album really well.

I don't hate it, but I wouldn't listen unless encouraged.

It isn't my favorite Leonard Cohen, but has a place in my soul.

This album could be 30% shorter.

I will never listen to this again. Ever.

Perfect.

I like their 2004 album far better.

I liked it, but it won't make it into the rotation.

Disc 1 - maybe 3, Disc 2 - solid 4

This was a refreshing change of pace for my morning.

I hate it. It took listening to girl rock from the same era to figure out why I had such a visceral reaction. Tori Amos just sounds too earnest/sincere/self-important. I liked plenty of similar singer-songwriters like Jewel and Fiona Apple, but Tori Amos is just too much. And too warbly.

I have listened to this album 50+ (100?) times. It is one of my dad's favorite albums. This album is really not my jam, but my endearing love for my father has informed my rating.

How did he end up sucking so much?

It's a mixed bag.

Not my top 5 Dylan.

This album is seasonal for me. Cozy winter days cuddled in a blanket.

I understand this album is influential, but it just didn’t appeal to me.

Lovely.
