Very funky to say the least. I think it was a bit too long, though, and got a bit repetitive for my taste. Under the Bridge and Give It Away are classics, though, and probably the best songs on the album.
Favorite Track: Give It Away
Folk rock is always fun and this is no exception. I love the classic 70s vocal melodies.
Favorite Track: Woodstock
This kinda music isnt really my bag. Vocals were nice, I guess.
Favorite Track: Crystalized
Very nice jazz experience. There was a chord progression (I think that's what it's called) that was played multiple times on the guitar that started out very similar to another progression on The Last of Us (2013)'s soundtrack. Just thought that might be interesting to point out.
Favorite Track: In a Silent Way
I liked the beats but I simply cannot get over Björk's voice. I can't take her seriously, unfortunately.
Favorite Track: Big Time Sensuality
Was fairly similar to Deja Vu, obviously since they're are both folk albums. This one had a bit of a slower pace which was great, especially in the last track.
Favorite Track: Alabama
I love the mix of alternative styles on this album. It keeps it very fresh across its 2-hour runtime so that it doesn't get boring.
Favorite Track: Bullet With Butterfly Wings
Bruce Springsteen is a great singer. Idk what else to say.
Favorite Track: Glory Days
The vocals are nice but that's about the only unique thing about this album.
Favorite Tracks: A Legal Matter, Instant Party Mixture
Favorite Tracks: Purple Haze, Foxey Lady
Nice easy listening with some good tracks. Not much more than that.
Favorite Tracks: Witchy Woman, Earlybird
Most, if not all, of these songs are less than 3 minutes and I despise that. Short songs can be good but all of these kinda mesh together into a big glob of love songs. The vocals are nice and the tunes are catchy but thats it.
Favorite Tracks: Stick With Me Baby, Donna, Donna
Idk it was good. Maybe I should stop writing these cuz I'm not a very good music critic.
Favorite Tracks: Killer Queen, Bring Back That Leroy Brown
Favorite Tracks: Hold Me Tight, Money
Favorite Track: Wishin' and Hopin'
I'm not really one for songs where they just kinda sing-talk over some music (with exceptions) and this is an album full of it. Not for me.
Favorite Track: A Strange Boy
Everything in Its Right Place is a masterpiece of a song.
Some great funk tunes, but some songs went a bit too long for my taste. The last two songs had exceptional guitar playing.
Faves: Who Says A Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!, Lunchmeataphobia
A nice guitar jam session. Still a bit boring for me, though.
Favorite Track: Not on the OG edition but Instrumental Medley 1964 was really nice
This is one that I need to relisten to with my full attention. Chapman's voice is angelic and the guitar is so good.
Favorite Track: Mountain O' Things
Favorite Track: Help Yourself
Favorite Tracks: Sex on Fire, Use Somebody (duh)
Did she decide to only lock in on the second half or something? There are some great power ballads in the final quarter and some fun older-sounding songs in the 3rd, but the first half is pretty shit.
Favorite Tracks: Mercy on Me, Candyman
Kinda funny at times but sometimes it was just overbearingly crass.
Favorite Tracks: My Name Is, '97 Bonnie & Clyde, My Fault
Favorite Tracks: You Ain't The Problem, Hero
This was an eclectic and fun album.
Favorites: Girls & Boys | Parklife | The Debt Collecter
Favorite Tracks: Mrs. Robinson | A Hazy Shade Of Winter | At The Zoo
Favorite Tracks: Walk This Way | You Be Illin' | Proud to be Black
Favorite Tracks: i | Alright | How Much A Dollar Cost
The classic country instrumentals were amazing, but really this album's only strength. The lyricism can be weak, especially in the songs about murdering women. See a therapist next time.
Favorite Tracks: I Got You | Home of the Blues | Streets of Bakersfield
Favorite Track: Blue in Green
This is like if a trio of aliens came to Earth and tried to blend in as a dance music band, and I mean this in a good way. From the beats to the album cover, this album just feels extraterrestrial. This is extremely prevalent in songs like What Is Love? and Build the Bridge. Uncoincidentally, those are also some of my favorite songs.
Favorite Tracks: What Is Love? | Build the Bridge | Groove Is in the Heart
This album just didnt click with me at all. I was bored almost the entire time. I love 70s funk but this just wasn't it for me.
Favorite Track: Master of Puppets
Favorite Tracks: Superstition, Tuesday Heartbreak
Very ominous album. Some of these instrumentals would be right at home in a survival horror game.
Favorite Tracks: A Forest, A Reflection
Favorite Tracks: Drive My Car | Norwegian Wood
The few saxophone appearances on here were amazing.
Favorite Tracks: Just the Way You Are | Scenes from an Italian Restaurant | Vienna
Back to back saxophone perfection!!
Favorite Track: The Girl From Ipanema
This album is comically bad. My jaw was hanging open throughout the majority of the first track because how shit it was. The flow sucks, the beats are goofy as hell, and the lyrics are basic and repetitive. Every song repeats the chorus like 5 times and its infuriating. This is why this is my first ever 1-rated album.
Pretty mediocre. Didn't really like the style of singing.
My opinion on Mitchell's sing-talking hasn't changed since I listened to "Hejira" back in mid-January, which is to say that I still don't like it. This album had a bit less of it though, and I think the instrumentals on this were great.
Favorite Tracks: Harry's House / Centerpiece | In France They Kiss on Main Street
Favorite Tracks: Niki Hoeky | A Natural Woman
