1001 Albums Summary

Already familiar with this one. One of the best live albums 👍

What an epic track to start off the album. Fantastic record. I’ve been meaning to listen to all of The Rolling Stone’s discography. They’ve created so many masterpieces, it’s easy to see why they’re considered amongst the greatest.

The Velvet Underground was a one-of-a-kind band. I already owned a physical copy of this album since my early 20s when I first discovered them. Not every track stands out, but they’re unique in their own way. Pale Blue Eyes will always be a personal favorite from this album.

A very experimental album with a mix of genres. I was looking forward to listening to this since I love Peter Gabriel’s biggest hits. Unfortunately, it failed to make an impression on me. Solsbury Hill and Here Comes The Flood are the only standouts.

First time I’ve ever heard of this band. The album was okay, yet forgettable. They sound like every other Brit rock band of the time.

What a fitting album title. 3.5

Perfect album. 10/10, no notes. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is the greatest song of the ‘80s, and one of the best in general, period.

Well, this was terrible. I understand this was meant to be satirical, but hearing a white person continuously saying the n word was highly uncomfortable…which was the point, I guess. Nevertheless, this sucked.

I adore Emmylou Harris, and this was nice, but I just prefer her earlier records.

Time of the Season is the only outstanding track on this album, the rest was pretty mediocre.

I only semi-liked 3 songs from the album. Of course I’d heard of PJ Harvey before but was never really impressed with what I heard. All I kept thinking throughout this was Patti Smith 2.0. 1.5

This is literally just the soundtrack to every car commercial since 2000.

The Who sucks.

Was this really hardcore? More like ‘boring’.

I just cannot take British rap seriously. I’m so sorry.

This was my 2nd Pulp album and I’m still not impressed. Listening to the singer whispering in some of these songs was like having a gross old man whispering in my ear. Something Changed was my least disliked song, which I’d probably like a bit more if someone else sang it, I’m just not a fan of the singer’s voice. Safe to say this band is not my cup of tea.

What a major improvement from 21, which I didn’t care for. Fell in love with most of these songs; perfect for daydreamers and the heartbroken </3. 4.5

Top tracks: The Boll Weevil and Mule Skinner Blues. I appreciate early folk, but this isn’t an album I’d listen to again.

‘70s rock, this should’ve been right up my alley, but sadly I didn’t like a single song.

I came to the realization long ago that while I know Jazz is a complex art form that opened the doors to what music is today, it’s just not a genre I’d willingly seek out and listen to. Much of it sounds the same to me and I get bored quickly.

FINALLY one of my favorite albums by one of my favorite groups ever. One of my fondest memories is buying a CSNY cd at Best Buy on my 18th birthday and listening to it for the first time on a road trip and I’ve loved them ever since. Beautiful harmonies, which I’m a sucker for. Fantastic beginning to end.

I wasn’t blown away by anything, but this was a pleasant and mellow album, something nice to have on in the background. I’d check out more by this artist. Top tracks: Happiness, Eat Yourself

Not bad. Pleasantly surprised by this band, which I wasn’t familiar with. 3.5 Top tracks: Bombast, I Am Damo Suzuki, Rollin’ Dany

Wasn’t fully vibing with the first couple of songs, but thankfully Bob did not disappoint. Love when he began adding more country influence. Top tracks: Meet Me in Morning, Shelter from the Storm, Buckets of Rain
