This is tough. There are Beatles albums I like more than Rubber Soul so tempted to give this a 4. But it is still right up there and has some songs who's influence can't be overlooked that I feel this should be rated higher than some of the albums I've already given a 4 to. Oh for a .5 system! Fuck it...a low 5 from me.
A classic. This album was one of the first DnB albums I heard and definitely helped send me down the path.
Goldie's influence on D'n'B cannot be overlooked, but oddly enough his tunes have never been ones I've really loved compared with other producers. But I do recognise that if it wasn't for him, then some of the artists I prefer may not have existed. Was fun to listen to a whole album of his stuff as I wouldn't have if it wasn't for this.
Before listening to this album, Maggie May was the only Rod Stewart song I liked...it still is.
An album that had a nostalgic vibe despite me not knowing many of the songs.
Album was long without any song really dragging. Felt like a fair bit of filler on there but still enjoyed some tunes.
Great album. Can hear the influences they've had on other bands. Can't believe it's the first time I've listened to a Pixie's album. Kinda wish some of the tracks were longer.
Felt pretty generic and average. Most tracks past me by. Can't even be bothered to comment on song length.
Such a good album. Been far too long since I've listened to it. Love all the samples! Songs flew by. Only album I've listened to twice in the day so far.
Definitely not the best Beck album I've listened to. Some good tunes, but didn't seem as eclectic as others.
I enjoyed this. Great music to cook to. Found each track noticeably different. Will listen again. Starting to wish we could mark out of 10 or give half points though.
Such a good album! My favourite so far. Every tune was great and the influence it had on all the hip hop I love is clear. Loved it!
Really dull album. Tunes sounded like cheap imitations of other artists. Glad I didn't listen to the version with the b-sides.
Loved it. Thought the long jams were fun to get lost in and the shorter tunes equally great! Officially converted to not being happy with the rating system as it's way to restrictive. Another album I wish I could give 4.5 to...but I can't. Seeing as I went up last time, I'll do the same here.
A high 3 from me, rounded up to a 4. Love Ray Charles, but would've preferred a more soul album than the one we got. A sign of the times, but wish the album was longer too.
I think this was the first album by The Pogues I've listened to. It was good, but as expected. Didn't know Fiesta was one of their songs so that was a nice surprise, but nothing there to push this above a 3.
Survived. Probably not as bad as had been made out by others in the group, but still a major struggle to get through. Onwards and upwards!
Great album with some classic tunes! Makes me feel old to think this came out 30 years ago.
First Flaming Lips album I've listened to and was pleasantly surprised after hearing some of the negativity in our group. First track was really good. High 2 rounded up to 3!
An amazing album from start to finish. Great production and a generational talent. I'd say this is my first 5/5 that would also be a 10/10.
Classic 80s rock, but sounds pretty dated now. Wasn't a fan of Bon Jovi back in the day and they haven't grown on me.
An album with some absolute classics. And one that brought hip hop into mainstream culture. I didn't find it quite as enjoyable as Digital Underground but that's personal preference. Still a gazillion times better than Bon Jovi though!
Passed me by. Wasn't bad, but nothing that I really wanted to listen to again.
I only like one or two songs by The Divine Comedy, and neither of them are on this album. One positive is it's length.
As someone who appreciates a bit of bleakness here and there, I didn't mind the melancholy nature of this album. Had some good tracks and some that I seemed to zone out on a little.
Far too screamy for my liking. Managed to get through it and they get an extra star for being Swiss!
Love this album. Great for a lazy Sunday morning. So calming, it reminds me of long bus rides, travelling.
Really liked the first half of this album, but seemed to fall away a bit as it became more and more chilled. Would like to listen to some different stuff of his.
Solid 3 from me. A couple of classics and the rest of the album had some good folk tunes on it. Hadn't heard American Pie in years so was great to revisit that song as well.
Another album that got played twice during the day. So many classics! Nile Rodgers creating a legacy for himself, Sister Sledge and an entire genre.
Good album with the influences it's had on bands that came after clear to hear.
Another artist I know about but not listened to that much of their work. I think this is the first time I've listened to a whole album of his. I really enjoyed it and will definitely listen again. Will also try and listen to some more of his stuff.
Interesting to listen to some of Franti's earlier stuff. I enjoyed it a lot, but still think to really appreciate him as an artist you need to see him live.
Almost the definition of an incredible album. Ticks every box.
Enjoyed this more than I thought after some of the comments I'd heard before listening to it. Pretty easy to listen to, but some songs seemed to merge into each other. Very different sound than I was expecting from a band called The Zombies.
Great album that I haven't listened to in years. Got a few of their classic hits and some forgotten gems.
One of my favourite albums by one of my favourite bands. A true 10 out of 10 album.
Better than the last Elvis Costello album. A couple of decent tracks, a few annoying songs, and at least one that reminded me of Randy Newman!
A decent album, but for me I'm still expecting more from The Boss. Maybe it's because his hits are a different vibe to some of his other stuff. Pleased I'm learning more about him, and I still want to see him live as he's meant to be ridiculous!
This album reminds of a soundtrack to some wanky piece of modern/physical theatre that I had to go watch during theatre studies a level. Not as bad as Divine Comedy though.
Decent background listening. Little grabbed my attention, but nothing offensive to my ears.
A classic album of its time. Could listen to it all day long, and yet for some reason hadn't put it on in years. Thanks for the reminder of how bloody good it is.
Another amazing album. Brilliantly produced, fantastic baselines and incredible lyrics. Another favourite album of mine with only one tune on it that I don't absolutely love. Even the skits are good.
Another classic album in one of my favourite genres. Very much of its time, but Missy is one of the best and it was great listening to all her early stuff again. A couple of the tunes on the 2nd half of the album dragged a bit but on the whole it was great fun to listen to.
This is exactly the kind of music my parents used to listen to when I was growing up, so had a weirdly nostalgic feel to it despite being from years before my time. I enjoyed it, and did chuckle at every song being 2-3 minutes apart from the 18 minute finale.
I feel like it's a victim of its own success. So pioneering and influential on certain genres that it now feels like something I've heard before. As others mention, it sounds like a soundtrack or background music, but still fun to listen to.
Before listening to this album, Maggie May was the only Rod Stewart song I liked...it still is.
Enjoyable, but fell victim to being listened to whilst doing stuff round the house so some of it went by the wayside and didn't do enough to grab my attention.
Great to finally listen to this album from start to finish. Very eclectic.
While the other Pixies album was a solid 8, this is more of a 7.5. It had more tunes that I knew on it, but preferred the last. Still, my roundup rule keeps it at 4/5.
I didn't mind this as much as others, but I am partial to a bit of folk music. Reminded me of The Levellers. 2.5 rounded up to 3.
A good old, classic blues rock album.
A lot of fun and some surprises at the songs I knew. Solid 4!
So many covers. Good covers...but still covers.
Very fun album to listen to. Great to hear some Queen that isn't the standard hits.
Solid 2. Respect to the voice. Honey is a bit of a tune. But just not my vibe.
Wish I could give this a 2.5 as it was a better 90s R'nB album than Mariah's but not a whole star better. But a system is a system and every .5 I've rounded up so there we go.
Enjoyable. Provoked discussion. Still feel like a lot of their tunes tease something more and then don't quite deliver, but enjoyable nonetheless. Would be a 3.5 if the masses weren't idiots and voted to keep this archaic system we have.
Enjoyed the first half of this but felt the second went a bit weird and was almost waiting for it to finish by the end.
Good album and definitely of its time. Every tune sounded very similar to the last one.
Not a massive fan. I know a couple of their tunes from video games and a TV show but that's about it.
Not bad for a pop star of the time.
An album that had a nostalgic vibe despite me not knowing many of the songs.
Track 3 was a low point, but for the most part it was an inoffensive psychedelic rock album to have on in the background.
Was looking forward to listening but it didn't really get me interested as much as I thought it would. The Who are a band who definitely found themselves a bit later in their career it seems.
This album passed me by. Some of their big hits that took me back to the two hours of my life I rated Coldplay were quickly forgotten as the album moved on to averageness. 4/10 so a 2/5.
Solid work. Very easy to listen to with a couple of classics in there I never knew came from them. 3.5 rounded up.
Great album that loses a star for the running time as I was waiting for it to finish by the end.
Listened to it whilst doing some housework and enjoyed. Nothing stood out massively but sometimes that isn't a bad thing.
Wasn't a massive fan of it then and still not now. Why Does My Heart is a tune and respect for the fact every tune got used in something.
I like the concept of a load of short tracks but found it a bit crazy in reality. 4/10
Another album that reminded me of the albums my parents used to play. Really enjoy Stills and Young without listening to them too much so was good to hear. 3.5 rounded up.
Such a great album. Not my favourite OutKast album but still hard to find real fault.
So many classic songs on one album. And then you think of all the ones that aren't on it.
Definitely prefer some of his other more politically charged music, but there's no denying it was still a great album. Saving a 5 for a different Marvin album.
An album I could've happily died before listening to.
A classic. This album was one of the first DnB albums I heard and definitely helped send me down the path.
Enjoyed it more than I expected. 2.5 rounded up.
Nice to listen to this album again. Still find it bonkers the sort of sound they make with just two of them.
I like some of Stills' other work but this wasn't as good as some of that.
Sounds a bit dated after all these years. Reminds me of my sister listening to it whilst full teenage angst.
A short, easy to listen to album from a genre that has grown on me the last few years.
Another fave album. So many great tunes. And a hip hop album that had a true conscious message to deliver.
A bit too folly for my country vibes and a bit too country for my folk vibes.
A great album from one of the all time greats.
Some good tunes on here with a mix of folk and country rock. Beginning to a feel a little saturated by all the Neil Young, but there are worse artists to be listening to loads of.
Pretty eclectic but not really my vibe.
I liked the music, but my God was it too long! 42 songs, 105 minutes. If this album was half in length it could've got double the score.
Really enjoyed doing some odds and ends around the house with this on. Incredible voice and every song told a story.
Enjoyed this album. Made a journey on the tube and underground a lot more tranquil
A great album by a great band. Would've been great to see them live, despite Sabba's tale!
Nothing wrong with this, but nothing to get excited about either.
Brilliant stuff. An album absolutely packed with great songs.
Feel like I've been giving out a lot of 5s recently, but this is a great album that influenced so many of the bands I used to love, and some j still do.
Fun to have on. Big up the big band.
It was all a bit meh. Tunes sounded very similar to not only each other, but a load of other bands I've heard over the years in American Pie soundtracks.
I've never listened to a Belle & Sebastian album before and this was exactly what I expected it to sound like. A couple of good songs but nothing to get the ears twitching. My big take away was wondering if the boy who done wrong again was the same boy who had the Arab strap.
Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. Initially thought, another folk rock/progressive rock album for us to listen to, but it was really different.
Was looking forward to this based on the 'funk-rock, ska' description of the band, but it never really go me going. It felt like it started fairly well but fell away. 2.5 round up.
This may be the first album that I've felt was too short. It's a shame a few songs were missing, but listened to it twice to make up for it and was bopping along to it both times.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Slap bang in the middle 2.5.
Another album that was just a bit meh. Where are all the albums I really need to listen to before I die???
Better than the last two albums. Was hoping for a bit more of a dub feel to it.
Another enjoyable country album. Short and easy to listen to.
Not a huge New Order fan, but on the whole I enjoyed this. A bit samey, but after the last few albums this probably gets an extra 0.5. 3.5/5
Enough Elvis bloody Costello now.
About bloody time! A great album that paved the way for so many hip hop acts that followed.
Definitely some Nirvana vibes here. Liked it a bit more than I expected.
Definitely not his best work but for the most part I enjoyed it. Went a bit weird at the end, which wasn't really my vibe, but it didn't take away from the rest of the album.
Not really my vibe. A couple of decent tracks, but it was another album that kinda passed me by.
Really enjoyed this. Another album that reminded me of roadtrips when I was a kid.
Good jazz vibes. Some funny lines in the spoken word stuff.
Very enjoyable. Something a bit different but very easy on the ears. 3.5
Never liked Pet Shop Boys, and nothing about this album has changed my mind.
Not my vibe, but substantially better than The Young Gods so gets an extra star for that
Another nostalgic album from roadtrips with the fam. Really like the first tune. Doesn't go very far as an album but enjoyed going down memory lane.
Every time sounds very similar to the one before. Last song is a classic, but what's that different about it compared to the previous 9?
Some good moments but for the most part a little below average. In a nutshell, Carlton Palmer.
A lovely album to listen to in the sunshine. A cultured performance akin to Deco in his pomp.
A second day in a row of actually enjoying the album I'm listening to...yay! A nice trip down memory lane. I bet Peter Schmeicel looks good on the dancefloor so let's go with him.
Some great moments, some not so great moments. In other words...Milan Baros
First tune was a long one. They clearly know what they're doing. Pretty enjoyable on the whole. Davor Suker.
