Real score 80
This is a hard album to rate because of its inconsistencies and interludes. Thankfully in the digital age you can just not add the interludes to your playlist. They do add slight context to the songs but I've never liked skits on albums.
Most songs on here are quite good, a couple real bangers make the experience better, BOB is easily the highlight with a very catchy and layered hook. Other songs seem to suffer from repeating the chorus every 25 seconds which can get a little monotonous.
The lyricism is always on point and helps elevate some of the lesser tracks on here, some are quite beautiful and poignant. Overall a really fun, creative wacky album with some luigis mansion type beats and silly grooves with occasional real slappers

I dont know the history of this album but all I can imagine is a fat bastard producer with a lit cigar and his fingers cradled together menacingly under his chin in the back of the room as they perform the music. It is scientifically engineered to be the most "get up and move your ass" music it could have possibly been for back in the day.
This album really only has 3 songs; tutti fruiti, the slower song, and the other song. little richards voice is genuinely interesting to listen to, and sometimes he screams so loud it actually peaks the audio. this imperfect production actually adds to music to make it feel more human. Its not great music, and its certaintly not bad, but it isnt something i would come back to again

Score: 85
Almost every song on this album is an upbeat turn about being invaded, the inevitability of war, being on the brink of a breakup, the guilt of not spending time with a daughter, feeling alone, domestic abuse, the regret of not helping someone more after they commit suicide.. And the one song with a dark and atmospheric tone is one about how life was a miserable routine before they met someone, which you think would be a happy song, but the lyrics never once mention life after meeting the person and it's implied their life got worse instead.
The music on this album isn't the absolute greatest thing but a lot of it is catchy or memorable, but you wouldn't call them hit songs. The lyricism and storytelling is what makes this album for me as it's fantastic

If you left a 1 star review with the reason stating why being it's not in English, get the fuck off this website. That isn't constructive, it's not a review, and it certainly isn't a review of the album. It's nothing and you're either a dumbass bigot or you don't know the right time and place for jokes.
This album starts off incredibly strong and slowly throughout its runtime becomes a little more average and tame. All the while the production and instrumentation are great, but the tracks become slower and a bit less exciting. Very chill and enjoyable. This album also made me very hungry.
I'm giving it a 5 to counteract some of the dumbfuck reviews

Score: 30
We've made it to the complete antithesis of artistry; making music with the sole purpose of making hits and winning grammys. Produced to the max, designed to be as catchy as possible. So is it any good? No not really. Some songs are good like blank space and style. Every other song is middle of the road or insufferable. Welcome to new york, shake it off and bad blood fit into this category.
The production on shake it off deserves its own little paragraph because it is atrocious. I've heard better horn sound effects on children's toys at target. If the drums are played by a real human being i would be shocked. The clacking drumstick sound is so mind numbing and it's persists throughout the entire track and once you notice it it's game over. The bridge is cringe. Bad blood is just a bad song period, everyone knows that.
Taylor never sounds like she's trying at all with her vocal performance besides maybe a few moments in wildest dreams and clean. Her voice never sounds bad but it fuels the soulless feel to this album. Nothing about it feels organic. The lyrics are vapid and I don't believe they are sincere, even as generic as they are. I wanted it to end multiple times

Movie soundtracks, and soundtracks in general often use leitmotifs as a way to tie every track together and the technique can be used incredibly well. Sadly here, it isn't. Nothing interesting is done to build upon the themes of the music. This does not work as a standalone album.
The first track is admittedly quite nice, there is some beauty to it and it's performed well. Sadly after that it devolves into the same song over and over. I dont like the mixing at all on this, a lot of it sounds drowned out and not in an intentional way. When a song hits a nice melody it ruins it by dragging on too long.
Dead bodies is also a pretty decent song on it's own but it's hard to look past the mediocre production. The final track is agonizing to get through with its obnoxious spoken word lyrics. I was begging for it to be over.
Without the movie attached this is a slog to get through, and all you're left with is a shitty pysch rock album.

I was ready to give this album an 80. Then the last 3 songs played and it occurred to me. I really dislike a lot about this album. Instrumentally great, some catchy songs and riffs for sure.
A major problem I have is the writing and the vocals. I don't dislike the vocals when they are sung at a normal cadence and volume, but a lot of the time it's so much louder than that. I don't need to hear high pitched wailing lyrics that are sometimes mixed so loud that I literally can not hear the instruments anymore. It doesn't help that a lot of them are generally vapid and generic and are often repeated over and over.
I don't really love the country influence and the funk influence is fun but I do wonder how much of it is just stolen from other artists.
It wouldn't be a classic rock album without having an entire song about how hard it is not to instantly bust a nut at the sight of a 15 year old girl, and unfortunately on this album it's the very last song. Hearing a whining douche bag for an hour and a half to have it end with him desperately grooming children lowered the score immensely for me. I don't care what anyone says this shit is dated as fuck and with so much better music out there I don't feel the need to ever ever return to this mediocre pedophile music

I disagree with a lot of other reviews on here, I think this album is quite beautiful and honestly ahead of its time. This singer-songwriter, prolonged verse style is something a ton of artists do much better today, but this is still good. The singing and lyricism feel real and heartfelt, and while not exactly the greatest singer, I think that's kind of part of the appeal. Her deeper register works for this kind of music and sets the tone.

This album is about as musically interesting as my balls.
That being said, the lyrics are good, the singing is good. The lyricism does a lot of the heavy lifting here. The instrumentation is good though, although sometimes the pan flutes and stock drumkit beats come off as silly. It's surprisingly very dark for what is essentially elevated elevator music.

A beautiful soundscape album with a cold, otherworldly feel. It's very easy to imagine a story in your mind to match the music. A sense of hopelessness and loneliness with an extremely small touch of hope mixed in. Phaedra is the best track though and the most interesting, and if you didn't like it you won't like the rest of the album as it's basically just 1 40 minute long song.
I imagined an explorer trapped on a cold alien planet seeking refuge only to die in the end. A lot of the little synthesizer plucks sound like little creatures or birds and it adds to that feeling.

This album is produced and mixed impeccably, and not in an annoying squeaky clean way either. It just sounds fantastic. Every single track is good with the exception being the last one. It's just a tad too slow but the lyrics are just not very well thought out or interesting and just come off as corny. I'm not disbelieving that Sade's feelings are genuine but they just don't seem to fit here on the album. Make a living is a much better seriously toned song. Was a very fast listen. I want to fucking die
ThIIIs albUuum sUUUcks. If you're annoyed at how I typed that sentence then congratulations, you know what listening to this fucker sing for an hour is like. As much as I love hearing completely off key vocals set to endless verses with harmonica mixed at the fucking top of the mix, I'm very glad it's over.
First couple songs are terrible. The faster paced songs liked the death grips one and obviously five believers are actually pretty decent. Especially on the latter song, Dylans singing actually matches the song and it isn't bad. Any slower, ballad type songs had me frantically searching my surroundings for a loaded gun. I cannot stand the constant ebb and flow of his vocal volume. He also never shuts up, and almost no songs have a chorus. The song will end the same way its starts regardless of length. If you aren't here for lyrics or harmonica, well then that's too bad.
Not really related to this album but I'm also pissed this loser takes up 1% of this entire album list. He ain't that important, let's get some more variety please.
I want to give this album a 1 but I wont because I know it's not truly that bad. The writing is interesting, and if you're here for that I can see why you could enjoy this more. But this isn't for me.

I got the powers that be running through me
This record is very 90s. The drum beats, the record scratching, the topics and vibes are all here. The use of news clips and spoken word is so smart and well done. Everything is pretty damn near on point for most of the album. At 1 hour and 20 songs, I feel like it could use a little tightening though.
The pacing only falters a little here or there though, and I like that a lot of songs have a good amount of breathing room before and after the lyrics. It makes this album flow very well as the songs mesh into each other. It would be hard to deny the importance of this album.
Pollywannacracka was the only song i didn't care for. I don't think this album needed an interpolation of ring around the rosie. It is toungue in cheek but I would skip this every time.

Guess I'll get this out of the way right away. It is very hard to shake off the comparison to Radiohead while listening to this. Like extremely hard. With that being said it is different enough to have its own sound.
Bittersweet symphony is for some reason the first song. I'm guessing this is because a label wanted it right in front but it makes no sense for the flow and feeling to be first. It's a great song but I think the 3 song stretch from the rolling people to to pimp a butterfly is better. Those songs are great.
Sadly after this the album falls off slowly and ends up being uninteresting by the end with the exception of the last track which is pretty good. Sadly it's not a good song to have in your Playlist because there's 8 minutes of silence to hide a bonus track. I really hate this style of bonus track listing on Spotify and I wish they would stop doing it.
None of the music here is bad and it's all well mixed and produced. But it does drag in the second half. It's between a 3 and 4 so I'll round up

Why does this guy want to hear his nails clacking on piano? It's very strange. Anyway, the first song is really fantastic. After hearing it I asked myself, is this really going to be an amazing country album?? Sadly the answer is no, but it is definitely good!
I listened to the 2022 remaster and I don't know how much of this is the remaster but this thing is produced and mixed immaculately. Sure the mixing is flat but it's by no means bad. It's corny and cheesy but I was never groaning or upset with what I was hearing. Compared to modern country music that alone is an insane compliment. Also I could be wrong but I don't think there was a single mention of a truck so props for that.

There's a lot to like about this album. The production is good, it flows well and it goes pretty decently fast for a 90 minute album. I like that he doesn't always take himself seriously on some tracks and intro and overture are just joke tracks. Some tracks go pretty hard and I enjoyed those ones the most. I also really liked I went to the mirror and I was it was longer and didn't abruptly end.
It's a pretty insane accomplishment for a singer songwriter to do most of this themselves. Sure some tracks aren't as interesting but out of 25 songs there's a good amount of really good and fun ones. Also 3 or 4 songs are just a lot louder than the others for some reason. From the interestingly subtle opening moments to the epic finish that brings it full circle, this is one of the most easily remembered and well constructed debut albums of all time. Almost every single song is a banger that people are still buying fuck-off ticketmaster nosebleed seats for hundreds of dollars to belt out every single lyric perfectly from memory. With the albums following after especially Vs. and vitalogy, they hone their sound even more and become something truly worth listening to.
That's not to say this album isn't worth it because it is. But it's not without it's faults. I feel like garden and deep aren't the most memorable songs and especially garden doesn't do anything the other songs already accomplished. It also sounds like it's flirting a little too closely to sounding like Christian rock music. But deep is still super fun just not a standout. The mixing also drowns out the instruments and adds a lot of reverb to the vocals which makes this sound like a live album at times. This has always drove me nuts over the years but it's hard to imagine it any other way now.
But those things aside, this is a fantastic album. The lyricism and storytelling is so good, it's hard not to get lost in it and feel emotional one way or another. Stories of heartbreak and broken homes, addiction and other forms of suffering.
Evenflow is an obvious slapper and it kicks ass, but Jeremy is easily the best track and it evolves and progresses so nicely, the writing is incredible and instantly sticks with you. The case could be made for this song being in the top 100 rock songs of all time easily.
Also I love it when it sounds like he's saying suck big dick in evenflow it's so awesome.

I've never heard of this band in my life, but this album is great. A lush and interesting 80s album with well written lyrics and a consistent vibe and sound. Except for the song thorn of crowns which has purposefully stripped back and bad production except on the chorus. I kind of like that they took a chance to do something weird but on the other hand I'm not sure how much I love the sound of the singer cumming over and over right in my ears. Definitely the weirdest song, not 100% how I feel about it. It does make the production feel even more deep and lush when the next song plays, and it's a great song. Wasn't super crazy about the final song as well, I feel like this album deserved an epic closer. Other than that I loved it front to back. I think crowns will grow on me in future listens.

A very nostalgic feeling 90s drum and bass electronic album with 2 remixes right on the standard edition. Very weird that they aren't deluxe version bonuses or something and I personally don't like listening to remixes as an albums closer... it just seems weird. They were pretty good though especially the 2nd one. I really liked the opening and title tracks. I overall enjoyed it but personally don't feel like I'd be listening to it on my own time, it's very close to 4 stars. Just not quite there for me.

A very intimate soul/jazz/funk experience that I pretty much thoroughly enjoyed. Some songs weren't my favorite like times a wastin or in love with you, but the writing is always good and emotionally intelligent. The singing, production and mixing are all excellent and every song flows into the next, sometimes I didn't even notice a song was over unless I checked. There isn't much to say about this album that it doesn't say for itself. It's just really good.

Bruh. When track 4 started my jaw dropped so far open you'd think I just found out my mom died. I recognized the song immediately and I started freaking out, it's the fucking claw machine song. If you've played a lot of them you probably know what I'm talking about. I can't believe it's actually from something and I found out what it is through this list.
Well anyways, the album is pretty good. Ethereal early synth soundtrack-esque music. Feels like a predecessor to stuff like metroid and 80s film scores. Wasn't in love with the last 2 tracks however and they take up a lot of the runtime. A silly little mouse is running around on part 6 and no one is trying to catch him. You can picture a dude sitting in his room fucking around with the synthesizer as you listen, but not in a bad way. It's quite endearing.

Went into this one ready to like it and enjoy it and sadly it just wasn't the case. Sister Ray is easily the best song and I'd say its the only track i cared about, which isn't the worst thing considering its 17 and a half minutes long. There's so much layering and different instrumentation, it's cycling and repetitive and I was into it. I can easily see how this would inspire a lot of bands to come.
The other tracks just didn't interest me much or flat out were annoying. The gift is mixed so stupidly shitty and you know where the story is going to go halfway through it. Some very silly choices were made with panning the vocals left to right and back again and it's just annoying. I'm sure they were shitting their pants back then but it's gimmicky now. I'd listen to sister ray again but none of the rest. An the album art sucks.

A fun and fast 90s rock album. Not quite grundge but honestly pretty close. Kind of crazy they went right off the rip into the decade and instantly put out an album that sounds like what it's known for. Some of the songs have 80s style drums which was fun. most songs were pretty short and went by pretty fast. I feel like you almost have to relisten to it to even remember the songs

Yeah this kicks ass, holy hell. The production on this is INSANE for 1969. Every song has it's own style and they don't waste your time at all. It's constantly fast paced and introducing new instruments and elements. Dude recorded a 40 minute album and sung 2 lines like a muppet. Willie the pimp is probably the best song though, it just reminds me so much of Primus and there's no way Les wasn't inspired by this to make his own music. I could be really picky and try to find flaws but there's very very few. Groundbreaking music

i had no idea what to expect before listening to this and I definitely didn't expect a gothic electronic art rock with haunting female vocals. I have no clue why but I thought Portishead would be a metal band or something. Even for someone like me this a pretty demanding listen. There a lot of dynamic range and the volume will get intense suddenly during a lot of songs. It was surprisingly unnerving, but nonetheless the sound and vibe of it is incredible. What is there to say. It's insane that this is the most popular and most recognized album of all time. If something like this came out now it wouldn't even chart. While not the most challenging listen, it demands so much more of the listener than today's godawful mainstream rock music. It's simply on a different level.
This album is very emotionally intense and you can feel how genuine it is in the music. It's lush and dense with a lot of different things going on, the songs perfectly run together to create a feeling of being lost in the sound. The lyrics are perfectly vague enough as to not spell everything out super clearly and let's you have the intelligence to understand them. It's a timeless album that will always hold up. And this isn't even Pink Floyd's best album

What MM wanted to accomplish with his persona was smart, it was edgy, it was perfect for its time. He knew what he was doing and with Trent Reznors help he became a really memorable figure. Everyone with braincells knew it was a character, but over time he became so fucked he became the villian in his own story. I mean when your idea of fun is inviting Andy Dick to your house and showing him your homemade snuff film under the guise of it being real to scare him, I can definitely get behind that. That's funny. But when your idea of fun turns into raping and torturing women, well then that becomes a problem doesn't it. For the MM character to work the man behind it HAD to be a good person. To absolutely drive the point home. But it didn't work out that way.
As for the album, yeah it's just Trents magic mixed with the complete douchebag vocals and lyrics of from the king of house harkonnen himself. It's good and it works. I'd maybe possibly even give this a 4/5 but I'm not letting it go into my liked albums list. Definitely an album a lot of people will grow out of. It's the downward spiral but shittier.

I've been listening to Chvrches on shuffle for so long that I forgot which songs were on which albums. I've always liked them ever since I first heard them, and seeing them live was amazing. It's also really cool that they have an album on this list now.
This album came out in 2013 and it cannot be overstated how fucking abysmal mainstream pop/rock was at this time. Every single song sounded the same with a buildup to a drop and a chorus that was just a bunch of mmms and ohs. Calvin harris type bullshit was taking over. Chvrches does buildups and drops on here but they are so natural and produced so well. Everything has a deep sound to it. The vocals are unique too in the sense that there are regular male and female singing vocals but also a ton of mouth sounds mixed into the song itself, it's pretty insane how much of each song is just singing digitized and harmonized. It's cool and gives them their iconic sound. Science/visions is their best song and it slaps hard as hell. Very unique sound and structure to it. Their 2nd album is just as good.

One of Beck's best and most consistent albums. I actually think the weakest tracks are the first 2. E-pro is by no means a bad song but after playing it for years on guitar hero and the fact that the song doesn't really go anywhere makes it a strange and not the best opener. Guero is a better song imo but sometimes I'm just not in the mood to hear all the constant background noises. They do lend the song it's vibe though. This is a pretty wild album. I usually don't like skits or interludes but on here they are really well done with the news segments and interviews. There's obvious bangers and some songs are just dumb like the fairy tale one. A lot of it sounds the same instrumentally but it doesn't get annoying.
I think what's most wild is that Ice thought that having a camera would deter police from committing unwarranted violence. In our current time almost everyone has not just a camera but a video camera on them at all times and, well, look how much it changed things. Cops will still kill your dogs, shoot innocent people and even slowly choke people to death over the course of 8 minutes all while being filmed the entire time knowing full well the videos will be posted online. Pretty long but also is pretty fun. They really are the sonic youth, this is a loud and crazy album. I like the mix of male and female vocals. A lot of the songs seem to follow the same motif but it doesn't really get old. I liked this one a lot.

Brothers In Arms
Dire Straits
This album wasn't for me. I like a lot of stuff that's going on here, but I feel like the pacing and mood of each song kind of leaves it as a mess. Walk of life is so poppy, and working in retail completely ruined any sort of impact that song could have for me. Money for nothing is the best song, and yes he uses a slur, but it's to tell a story. It makes sense for what he's talking about. The biggest takeaway from this album is how immaculate the production and mixing is. It is flawless. Just wasn't for me.

They're finally here, performing for you
if you know the words you can join in too.
A silly album with some fun beats. For whatever reason every song is at a different volume. I like it when they just decide to laugh and make a bunch of stupid sounds for fun. Really enjoy the shitty 80's drums.

Paul Simon
I want you to eat me, bones and all. Singer songwriter is a rough genre for me. I kind of couldn't stand this to be honest. The music itself sounds nice and it's very well produced but this dude never shuts the hell up about the most mundane shit possible. It has it's cool moments but please never again.

Very interesting album. Loved the lyrics and writing style and about 75% of the songs. The 2 title tracks and every breath are really far and above the best songs. Some of the others aren't as engaging and I know people dislike Mother but I really like it. Production is good and it definitely sounds like an 80's album. Very close to a 4

Ready To Die
The Notorious B.I.G.
I guess it was good that he was ready to die. This is a really hard album to give a rating to. There are a ton of great moments, lyrics, and beats. But then he will make a good song and decide to ruin it by ending it with slurping bj sounds. If I tried listening to this album in public as a white dude it would probably be extremely embarrassing. I was worried in the beginning that every song would just be about killing people but there is a lot more interesting and real shit on here than that.
It's an extremely sad and troubling look into someone's life and it definitely does deserved to be listened to. It's important and well made but personally for me I just can't relate to it or get into it as much as others.

Hard Again
Muddy Waters
It's blues. The production is great, everyone sounds like they are having fun and jamming out. I think the nicest compliment I can give it is that it's extremely pleasant background music. But what exactly are you doing with that little girl at her daddy's farm hm? Name a more iconic duo than pedophiles and playing rock music. Why do you feel the need to make a song like that bro. I would love to hear actual interesting music on this website. Thanks.

All Hail the Queen
Queen Latifah
If I hear about the 45 king one more time i'm gonna lose it. Mostly basic rapping and beats. I'll be honest I really don't think her rapping is anywhere near good, but it does have a certain charm to it. De la Soul is featured on the 2nd song and it would be good, but instead it's fucking trashed on by an insanely long outro with someone pretending to be a baby with an ungodly outdated voice filter that sounds like complete shit. It's just not worth listening to today, it's really not. So much music outclasses this. I do appreciate the forward thinking lyrics and some of it is pretty fun and charming but it's aged decently poorly.

Very well produced album. Obviously the singing is excellent, and the songs themselves sound great. Kind of gives me Sea Change vibes, this came out first but still. Very chill and relaxing, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Only negative is that it is slower and all the songs sound more or less the same. Still good though.

The xx's are my eyes after I load the single bullet into my pistol and push it straight up against my temple after listening to this. This is like if Portishead were all brain damaged to fuck and somehow made a successful album. My penis receded 12 feet backwards into my large intestine. I have more talent when I bend over and suck my own balls than the 3 of these fuckers combined. I am in the top 5% of everyone who has based taste in music and I declare this shit to be fucking trash.

Some of this album is ok, some of it is pretty good. The last tracks goes pretty hard and it's over half of the runtime of the entire thing. If some of the shorter songs had better singing or had more substance I would've really loved this one.

Great lyrics on this album. Thoughtful hip hop that won't scare the racist whites like that other violent scary gangster rap. Wouldn't be a bad way to be introduced to the 90's hiphop sound. Didn't overstay it's welcome and it was pretty fun.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen
Leonard Cohen
Very strange album. The lyrics are the main selling point here I think, because there are a ton of lyrics and you really have to pay attention to even start understanding what is happening. I do enjoy when the guitar is being plucked at about 600 mph. You kind of have to really get into the mood for this one. It's like a fever dream while adam sandler stares at you on the cover.

This bitch is crazy. It's an 80's fever dream nightmare. She self produced this album and it's an extreme achievement and a work of art. There is a lot here to listen to and enjoy. You won't catch everything on first listen. And no this album isn't a 1 just because you heard running up that hill a couple times because of stranger things. The donkey kong country sounds and 80's driving bass and drums are so good on here. You literally cannot ask for a better and more interesting 80's pop album.

I expected to like this more than I did. Man in the mirror is trash. Just can't stop loving you isn't much better. Sounds like christian shit that would play at goodwill in the background, or some wacky background music in a dreamcast game. Other than that every other song ranges from good to great. I'm a huge sucker for the sega genesis soundchip style bass. I can never get enough of that shit. But let's be real. Weird Al did a better version of Bad. And this shit ain't no alien ant farm either. 0/10 trash.

Everything in it's right place is an INSANELY good opener. It's so immediately arresting and hauntingly beautiful. The texture, layering and production is flawless on the entire album. It flows from song to song so naturally sometimes you don't even notice you're on the next song, which is really impressive considering the amount of different sounds going on. The amount of melancholy this album exudes is off the charts. It's almost impossible to get through this without getting a little emotional.
The amount of emotion and desperation conveyed in a minimal amount of lyrics is really impressive. The delivery of the lines is so good, and lyrics are often layered up on top of each other to add to the claustrophobic feel. Idioteque is probably one of my favorite songs ever. The purely experimental electronic soundscape combined with the disturbing and offputtingly delivered lyrics is so fantastic. There really isn't any other song like it.
There's a very good reason why this is considered one of the best albums of all time and really dedicating a sit down and listening to it with full attention is truly a unique experience. And the fact that this isn't considered Radiohead's best album by a lot of people is insane. In Rainbows is arguably even better. But yeah, this album has been talked about and will continue to be talked about for a long time. I don't have any unique thoughts on this album, it's a masterpiece.

This shit is somehow terminally online mentally ill music before the internet was even a thing. I don't really understand the concept. The dude is a gynocologist and then he says peepee poopoo black fart balls cock penis lol sex for an hour. The horror vibes are there and it's actually pretty ahead of it's time. It sounds a lot more like 2000s rap than 90s. It's not great but it is funny and it sucks and it's good at the same time. Wild and crazy sounds a lot like a Del song. I hate skits. It's basically death grips for babies
