Run-D.M.C.
Run-D.M.C.I get this album was revolutionary and there are some good tracks, but it gets repetitive and starts to sound the same pretty quick
I get this album was revolutionary and there are some good tracks, but it gets repetitive and starts to sound the same pretty quick
No skipper. Every track is a hit, and you can really hear how this album influenced basically an entire genre
Some really great tracks here, but the whole album doesn’t have that consistent feel one gets from a great disco record
It’s honestly crazy to me that this is all improv
6/10. Great album, kinda like a combo of Wilco and Neutral Milk Hotel. You can tell it’s a true work of art cause it’s clear Sufjan Stevens made this record for himself! Really beautiful songs and production, probably would rank higher if I found more of the songs memorable.
Definitely ahead of its time and you can hear how this inspired bands like the Replacements and Uncle Tupelo. I wish I found more of the songs catchy or very memorable. A few good ones but I wouldn’t consider this a “no-skipper” myself
Master class in electric guitar with some incredible tracks. Damn near perfect
Killer early stones record. You can totally hear what they’d become in these early raw recordings
I get this album was revolutionary and there are some good tracks, but it gets repetitive and starts to sound the same pretty quick
This album is great. Some really amazing tracks, I can totally hear how this influenced artists like Bowie. I’d give it a full 5-stars if I thought all the songs were knock your socks off level
Perfect example of Chicago blues
I get that this is influential for its time, but I doubt I’ll listen again. Had some good grooves but felt repetitive after awhile.
Pleasantly surprised!
Great album that I could listen all the way through more than once. Experimental and truly has its own sound.
Not a fan, but I’m also not very into electronic music. I didn’t find any songs memorable
Loved a lot of the sounds on this one. Great album. Truly unique
Classic 90’s but a little more laid back. Good original music, but I didn’t get super into it.
Best release from the Cure I’ve ever heard. I enjoyed this way more than any of their “hits” that I’ve listened to in the past
Incredible album that flows effortlessly. One of those records you put on and listen to all the way through.
A very unique album that combine’s traditional sounds with blues/psychedelia. Not sure I’ll listen again because the songs kinda meld together and I didn’t find any in particular super catchy. I can appreciate the sheer uniqueness of this one though
I loved the front half of this album a lot, back me a bit but there’s still a lot of greatness here
Love this doo wop style record, there’s so many layers beyond the doo wop style though. Great stuff.
Not really my personal style but I love the experimentation on this album. A lot of cool tones.
Enjoyed this way more than I thought I was going too. Some great tracks here and insightful songwriting
From the first song you can tell this is gonna be a masterpiece. So many great tracks. I love Lou Reeds unique style
Not a fan, this was hard for me to get through. I can appreciate the composition but it doesn’t do anything for me.
Surprised I hadn’t heard this before! Like Talking Heads with a bit more edge at times.
I liked this more than I thought I would. A little poppy for me, but I love the new wave sounds.
Every track is great. The Police truly do something different here.
Such a smooth record that truly melds together. The songs are great and you can’t beat the grooves here. The kind of album you put on and let play from the top
Love how all the songs on this record flow like a complete piece. Creative beyond compare
The production, songs, everything on this album is top. A lot funkier than I was expecting.
The first track “Plastico” is a banger. The rest was interesting, but didn’t hit like the first track for me
Really enjoyed this. More new wave than I was expecting
This album kinda blew my mind. Love the little jazz odyssey’s through out
Definitely a no skipper. Basically a master class in early soul
Not really my thing at all, but I can dig the artistry at work here in terms of creativity and song transitions
Great combo of country/soul with that classic Elvis sound mixed in. I’d give this a full five stars if there weren’t a few tracks in the middle I felt were kinda slow and similar sounding
I enjoyed this album a lot, though some parts are kinda niche in terms of overall likability. I’m not sure some of these tracks have replay value for me. I will say the creativity is top notch. Shout out to the kinks for puttin it out there
Lenny kills it on all the instruments here, and I suppose this is unique for 1989. It rocks and grooves a lot harder than pop rock music of that era. That said, a lot of these songs sounded extremely similar to classic rock from the 60’s/70’s
I admire this album from a production stand point more than anything. I think I liked maybe 3 songs off of it. Not really a U2 guy
Some of these songs, like “My Stars” really impressed me and caught me by surprise. Overall though this album doesn’t have a ton of replay value for me personally.
Master class in Americana songwriting. An album that flows effortlessly
I can admire this heavily from a production stand point and the subject matter of the songs is ahead of its time. For me most of these tracks just sounded the same
Loved this album, I felt like this inspired bands in America like Railroad Earth. Great blend of traditional music with rock elements
Been a fan of this one for years perfect album
Every song is perfect and original. Love this kind of riff based rock.
an absolute blue print for early rock and roll. Would rank higher if ever song didn’t sound the same
I respect this for experimentations sake, but that’s about all I get from it.
Loved a few of these tracks. Would rank higher if I thought it was a no skipper.
Always a 5, every track is perfect. TH was one of the best.
You just can’t beat Zeppelin III. An entirely new sound. This is unlike anything ever created before
Insane this was recorded in 1 day. Absolute master piece and the entire blue print for modern improvisation
Truly iconic sound from Marty on this one. I think this album could have been like 10 mins shorter, still great though.
I honestly dig this vibe a bit and how the tracks build, that said this is very much background music to me and all kinda sounds the same
pretty good album, I think in terms of Lou Reed’s music I liked Transformer much more. Berlin is much more laid back vibe
No skipper. Every song is amazing. You can tell they were really starting find their signature sound with “Let It Bleed”
Classic east coast style. Reminded me heavily of WUTANG and Tribe. Great lyrical content for the times too.
Perfectly mixed and every song is amazing. Love how this album ebbs and flows
Love how this album sticks too the classic early 90’s hip hop sound all while being original. Great lyrics and this album flows sooo well
I feel like if I would have heard this in 1980 it would have dropped me on my head. Very unique surf/punk/early rock sound but the songs all kinda sound the same
It’s Zappa. This one deserves a five from a production stand point alone. Headphones required.
Literally no other album sounds like this. You have to listen to the whole thing as one piece
This album truly goes together as one piece. Fantastic performance and Nina truly has her own style.
So many killer tracks on this album, after a while I think the vibe stays too similar though. I think if the album was just a little shorter it’d be a 5.
Gotta hand it to Dire Straits for truly creating their own sound here. This sounds like new wave/yact/70’s classic rock all melted into one.
The songs sound kinda similar and I don’t get the lyrics, but this album definitely had me rockin. I think that’s all that matters.
Honestly really love the fusion of genres here. This album is ahead of its time, just not for me
Much more alternative country than I was expecting. I enjoyed some songs, others were much too poppy for me
This one gets a high ranking solely because of guitar tone. Incredible production here and some really jamming songs
Cool stuff musically, not a fan of the lyrics
Maybe this record is ahead of its time? Songs are to long and go nowhere in my opinion
Easily the Beatles most experimental album. It flows effortlessly
Enjoyed this much more that “Rings Around the World”. Cool psychedelic parts and production, but it felt over done and cheesy at times
Very cool orchestral rock sound on this record. I get a heavy Beatles and Band influence on this record. The songs all work together very well.
If it was more memorable this would get a five from me. Very cool stuff going on though, it’s got its own sound for sure and I love the experimentation. I feel like they rely on a few similar motifs throughout.
Impossible to give this anything other than a five. This album is a blueprint for modern music
Great album. Very clear message and an epitome of reggae music
Really unique album, just seems to lull at times
Absolutely wild improvisation, I think this is a great entry point for Jazz
Pretty decent album, some of the songs kinda sound the same. I feel like the Lemonheads bridge the gap between the Replacements/80’s sound and the classic 90’s rock sound
Great album. I feel like this is really where Neil found his own style. Just wish there were a few more upbeat songs.
No skipper. Every track is a hit, and you can really hear how this album influenced basically an entire genre
Enjoyed this much more than Dry. Solid album, but maybe just not my style
Love the sound of this record, but the songs just aren’t that memorable
Surprisingly more new wave than I was suspecting. Great album with some killer tracks
Electric Ladyland is one of the most psychedelic albums I have ever heard. I don’t think Jimi put out anything that wasn’t next level.
This album really shows how versatile Nirvana was. Killer songwriting and this album really shows off their heavy side
Very good album, just seems a bit dirge-y to me
The best albums have their own sound, and this one fits the bill. Who knew this is where Sweetheart of the Rodeo would take us
You gotta love Ella, personally this album felt long to me.
Sick album, I love how their are little licks through out that connect the songs together.
Perfect album. Showcases their early versatility
You gotta hand it to the Doors for truly doing their own thing. Love how this album melds blues, psychedelia, and pure creativity
This album truly flows as one piece. A whole vibe. You can’t help but groove when you put this on!
Bonnie is so versatile. This album gets a little too poppy for my taste. Though it does have some rippers
Pretty sure everything Steely Dan put out was perfect. This one deserves a 5 on production alone
This album was much more experimental than I was expecting. Really great production and vibe here
Really great vibe and production here. Love how this album flows on and has different sections.
Songs in the Key of Life is the perfect title of this album. I feel like it really captures a huge essence of the general human experience. Fantastic song writing. This album captures a vibe without staying to similar from song to song.
great album with killer arrangements. It’s honestly a vibe. Just too much of the same vibe if you ask me.
I can appreciate this album as something iconic from the 60’s. It does sound ahead of its time. I doubt I’ll listen again though
Another great one from Stevie. I don’t think this is at the same level as SITKOL but still killer. Crazy it took him 15 albums to find his signature sound
Dolly is a god damn word smith. These are real songs about real people
Great album, I find it a good entry point for metal/hard rock
This is almost like steely Dan meets talking heads. Really cool album
Nothing that came before Black Sabbath was like them, and they inspired everything that came after. Great songs, wish there was a tad more psychedelia to accompany these long solos
Iconic 90’s vibes here. I just don’t get much depth from this album.
This is like the Beatles meets Zeppelin. A little trippier than I was expecting. Great work by Queen
This album requires very deep listening to “get it”. It’s very hypnotic, but the songs all kinda blend together and sound the similar
Love how many brands there was of white boy blues in the 60’s. This album is nostalgic and fresh all at the same time
Another masterpiece by Stevie. Incredible songs, and if it flowed slightly better this would get a 5
I dig the sound, just didn’t find it to be a great album
I can’t believe this came out in 2015. Love to hear something new
I respect this for being something different and unique, but it probs won’t get much replay from me
So much great music around the world. This feels experimental and new simultaneously
A bit much of the same old jack white vocal tropes here. Still an incredible album with a throwback sound. Extremely raw, and great song writing at play here
Really love the fact that this album is accessible and experimental all at the same time. Incredible album by an extremely creative band
Some really great tracks here, but the whole album doesn’t have that consistent feel one gets from a great disco record
Like most post-punk new wave stuff I dig the sound, but don’t get much depth from this
Great album, I feel the back half isn’t as strong as the front though
It’s honestly crazy to me that this is all improv
I just don’t get it. I commend Morrissey for putting his art out there but this album is too on the nose lyrically.
Really solid debut. Show cases the Stones’s original influence very well
This is pretty epic. Wish it was longer!
Tupac predicts his own death here. Incredibly introspective album
The way this album blends genres is so far ahead of its time. I can’t believe this came out in 1983
So many hits on this album and Alanis really lays it all out. I enjoyed way more than I expected
Paul’s first post Beatles album is nothing short of incredible. The dude played every instrument on this, you could tell he was bound for greatness from the first track
I like how genre expansive this is. Was not expecting to like it so much but it has some good moments. Not really memorable songs
I get the appeal of this album for the times especially. A little whiney for my tastes
The transitions, everything about this album goes perfectly. A golden era for music
Sounds very 80’s. I can’t get into it
Experimental for ‘94. I don’t get much replay value though
Iconic sound, a lot of the same IMO
This album pleasantly surprised me. I think the production is part of what makes this album so unique. It truly has its own sound, epic songs on here too
This album sounds very much a head of its time. Should be more famous
Great album, but I don’t think it’s near metallicas best. Sounds a bit over commercialized to me
I feel like this is incredibly influential to a huge era of music that came after it. Killer stuff
The interludes are the best part of this album IMO
I really do feel like this is a great album for the early 2010s. More hill country than what you typically hear in terms of newer blues rock
This album is like a combo of everything popular in rock at that era. Very Beatles esque
I feel like this may have inspired Sgt peppers. Scratches a psychedelic crossover itch I didn’t know I had
You know it’s gonna be a banger when an album has a track called “Free Form Guitar”
I wish this album was a tad more psychedelic. Overall killer release
Decent album that really shows the versatility of deep purple. Very long!
Very solid release from steely dan. Once again, albums like theirs really demonstrate how far production can take you
Love Curtis’ sound. Not much variation in terms of the songs, but still a solid release
Sick sounds, don’t know if this has much replay value though
cool beats. That’s all I get
I feel like this bridges a gap between grunge and pop punk in a lot of ways
This band is severely underrated
The definition of prog rock. If the songs were more memorable this would be a 5
Good album, a bit more poppy than their other releases. Songs sound the same throughout though
Really incredible album and production. I feel like this is an underrated gem. The interludes and instrumental sections on this album are where it’s at
Some of the sounds on this record are revolutionary
Certified no skipper. Every song is killer
This had some great tracks I wasn’t expecting. James has one of those amazing natural voices
Another perfect release. I love how this album has a vintage feel all while being incredibly modern
Surprising amount out iconic songs here
Pretty cool sound for 2000. Kinda Wilco-meets-Police vibes
This is taylor made for Southern California. That’s the vibe
One of the few legitimately progressive rock albums I’ve heard
decent production but I didn’t get much from this. Not something I would listen to again
