I like dis
I liked the beginning of the album a lot but got a lil bored in the middle
I don’t think I really like most hip hop
not as good as morning glory but a bloody banger of a debut album if 15 yo me has anything to say about it
Sucker for a bamboo flute and mallets.
Is this dream pop? I got bored.
Back half of the album - starting with disarm - is where this really gets going for me. I like this album mostly because you can hear the beginnings of what you get in later albums like mellon collie
Not exactly an easy listen, but a very influential album and I like it a little more every time I hear it
I liked things about it like the dramatic piano bits, but I probably won’t listen to this again
This is the album for you if you gotta have the funk but idk if I personally ever need the funk
I really tried to find something nice to say about this album, but came up empty. Lock them up for that Pink Floyd cover.
This album really comes out swinging huh? Not my preferred genre but I can appreciate things about it
I liked the beginning of scum the single. Human garbage was good too, but I’m not a fan of the dog barking over blast beats with endless cymbals sound (I suffer). Cool album art.
Beep bop boop heavy on the bop
Kinda one note for me
That’s punk
I like David Bowie a lot. This isn’t my favorite album of his, but it’s still full of forward thinking (1977!) and range.
It’s different
British rap comes across as deeply unserious to me, and this album - with tracks like “jus a rascal” - was no exception
what Kent and LB said
Completely different feel than Nevermind, with the exception of Rape Me which was written during that time period. For this record they returned to their Bleach sound, which feels more authentically them. Scentless apprentice is a masterpiece with an absolutely nasty signature Grohl drum groove. I love that they put such a divisive song second on the record, especially on the tails of their more mainstream Nevermind success. I dare you to not tap your foot to Frances Farmer, Very Ape (a favorite), and Milk It. Dumb is a Cobain classic. It’s dark and hilarious with a haunting cello — has some nice ride cymbal action too. Pennyroyal tea is a perfect blend of their older grunge sound and their new softer experiments. I love how they transition back and forth between those sounds on this record. The cello returns to close out the album with the droning melancholic All Apologies. It’s a no skip 5/5 for me.
