Illmatic
NasAlbum goes hard. Great rap album I was thinking about listening to NAS this week anyway
Album goes hard. Great rap album I was thinking about listening to NAS this week anyway
Songs I grew up to.
5song album?? 13.5min,7.5min,5min,5min,12min songs. Ridiculous! Still sounds excellent. Except for the 8min of car noise and whooshs at the end of the tracks
The fact that they came out with this after Bon Scott died with a new lead singer is amazing in itself. Relentlessly rocky, noisy, simple but standing up to time. 4.5/5
Monitor was the only track I enjoyed. Lacking depth and was eventually a grating listen. Got more distorted, more psychedelic sounding and lost the beat the longer the album went on. Lacking vocal midrange but I guess that’s post punk hallmark…
Good soul album. Starts with Respect one of the best covers. Aretha’s voice was pretty incredible. Enjoyed it but wasn’t wowed.
It’s fine. Not a lot of hits. I knew what I was in for. Went exactly as expected.
I noticed from Lodi on that Fogerty’s vocals followed the music so much the lyrics were hard to hear. Very echoing bass of the era. Solid album.
I’m not a huge jazz guy. But can appreciate it for what it is. Enjoyed
The Riffs sound feminine, the vocals sound gritty.
Album goes hard. Great rap album I was thinking about listening to NAS this week anyway
Never heard of this artist. Album was nice.
The first 4 songs were absolutely terrible. It improved marginally after that with a Prince feeling and acoustic guitar song. Then sounds back into the first few songs again. Comedically bad
I don’t know what genre you call this but I’d like more please. This is refreshing new artist to me. Really appreciated it
I don’t listen to enough jazz to know what I’m listening to. Sounded great though. Rich dinner party music
Nothing stood out as a great track off this album
Catch the sun sounded familiar but the remainder was forgettable
Pretty good album. Aggressive, oppressive, rowdy. But not any standout tracks personally. As an album tied together
Yuck! Far from incredible! I persevered through it but couldn’t wait for the album to end. Might have sounded better in the 60-70s if you were on drugs??!
54min flew by. Really enjoyed this. It was a vibe. Weird sounds mixed into tracks (farts, babies crying, scratching noises) but not enough to ruin them.
I woke up grumpy and it’s been a tough week of work. I needed this for a Friday morning! Holly F-bombs though. Obnoxiously angry music. Gritty, circus sideshow like. Lyrics are the most random ever. Never cared for SOAD in the 90-2000s but appreciate the musical talent. Could never get past the lyrics. If you ignore the words it sounds better.
Was fine. But they’re just reworked cover songs. Did I need this?
Didn’t mind this. Sounds more 70s to me. No song stuck out
Songs I grew up to.
So good! I was along for the ride the second the first song started. So many 5star songs alone. Loved it
Wasn’t on Spotify. Downbeat
A little boring. The song “ruby baby” felt like a 20min song. Not my favorite album
Mostly happy songs, good vibrations the only hit. It kind of saved the album at the end 2.5/5stars
Can we get the girls to scream a little more? - James Brown asks them to scream every song…
MTV Jackass theme song on it. It was the only song I recognized. Went on too long. Is this post punk? Because I don’t like it
No note. Just classic tunes
Early OG indie music. Not my favorite REM album but flowed through it.
This was weird prince.
Short and sweet.
Just a raw rap album.
Classic easy listening rock
Such a good album. Back when you could sample anything. Historic
Springsteen gravely voice over mostly ballads. Was a great album
I always expect KISS to be worse than they are. But this was very tame/ vanilla rock. I thought my Spotify was glitching with track1 , but it was just stupid noises.
Didn’t need a double disc album of this
5song album?? 13.5min,7.5min,5min,5min,12min songs. Ridiculous! Still sounds excellent. Except for the 8min of car noise and whooshs at the end of the tracks
Not for me
Not even schools out was good enough to save this album.
Barely tolerated it. This album started to give me a headache and I like Radiohead Not great Radiohead
Rawwww.
Dam great album
Smooth as 80g sandpaper but not offensively
Two Bob Marley & The Wailers albums in one week. Nice change! Skanking to this on a Friday afternoon
As I expected of Costello. Pretty dry…
What did I just listen to?? Fused soul, funk, swing… hip hop? Each song was different. Wasn’t sure what to expect. But was pleasantly impressed
Not the best beastie album but for a 1989 album it gave the speakers a workout
By track 2 I was ready to turn it off.
Enjoyable, likable, alright. Sexy funky music. Nothing crazy
U2s distinct pop/rock. Good or bad it was fine to listen to. A few really good song on this album- One,mysterious ways etc
Too much cowbell. Ooommf dragged on a bit
Once it hit the Valentine song it was all over for me
Modern folk vibes. Mid
Were there any hooks in any songs on this album? I’m not sure there were?! Felt a bit all over the place but also like a journey… Wasn’t expecting to like this
I wouldn’t know the difference between good and bad blues??….
I know I’m supposed to like this and it’s influential but I didn’t like it.
This jazz feels ‘lighter’ to me. Is it because it’s piano jazz? I wouldn’t know because I’m uneducated and stupid. But by “take five” I was enjoying it. This and a Friday afternoon drive home felt pretty good
When it’s an album from the early 70s I know that I’ll like it.
M.E = where’s your head at.
Prob rock, I’m not the biggest fan of it. Feels jokey! YYZ was ok. Tom Sawyer was laughable. The rest was fine but didn’t scratch the itch. Fell short for me 3/5
A couple good singles off this album. It’s very 80s. The sexy time, creepy, cringe 80s. Not my favorite but I tolerated it.
I got this album within hours of knowing Ozzy Osbourne passed away. Heavy
Kicking off with ‘bitter sweet symphony’ was such a good opener. The album holds a similar tempo throughout. Britpop isn’t upbeat but I loved it
Weird. But not what I normally think of Bowie weird to sound like. Ambient boring weird. Wasn’t offensive weird, mostly just forgettable. We hit another Low moment with this album
Smooth Aretha vocals as expected
I’ve never heard of this band and don’t care if I never hear of them again
A couple good singles from this album. But not great
Wasn’t loving it
It was alright. But half the album (disc2) was off ‘I should coco’ and I already listened to that..?
Classic album. Great all the way through
As expected. Poor sound quality live album
Not my vibe but it’s fine
This album doesn’t date as I remembered it. Has more low points than hight. And I was a big Kanye fan
Thought I would like this and it didn’t disappoint. I always think of the pixies with a different sound to this album. Quite mixed up
Whining 80% of this record. Not obnoxiously but still….
I’m sure I’ve heard this in Mexico once….
Great Canadian band
Really good
This album takes me back in the day to when I was a kid. I was at my uncle’s house and he’s trying to tell 12yr old me that where the streets have no name is the greatest song made. It’s a pretty good song. But not that great. Still really liked this album
It ain’t the beetles
A couple songs from disc2 were pretty good. But mostly just fine. Nothing more, nothing less
Funky, weird, art rock. I’ve never had the desire to put talking heads on. And don’t feel the need to ever listen to this album again.
Not outstanding
Why not call every song neighborhood??? This felt nostalgic.
Not for me
Brit punk. No hate,no love either. It’s was fine and sounded like every other punk album Ive ever listened to
