Personally… overrated! Listening to this I realized superstition was holding this album on its back! Blame it on the sun and you are the sunshine of my life were good but a 100 from critics is insane. I feel 78.
Lowkey might be a bad opinion after another but I didn’t like this album either. I don’t love this genre of music like the cure. This album was annoying
Did not like 1984, and let’s stay together felt like a random throw in. It will always be an Al green song for me. Also Spotify complaint, but the actual album is like 39 minutes but all the versions I found were like over an hour which is absurd! I don’t care how much you like an 1 and half of her is too MUCH! I just queued up the actual album to match. Positives because I have only been negative on this app so far it feels like, what’s love got to do is an amazing work of art and show some respect and I can’t stand the rain were pleasant album surprises.
A bunch of dudes wearing full leather fits, singing about Grinder? Ahead of their time tbh. Love sum priest! This album is pretty good, feels a little samey from time to time, but Breaking the Law is really there best song.
Oh man! It’s a shame pretty good album and when it rocks it’s good. There’s a few slow songs I don’t like. In the cold cold night is good but the other like 2 aren’t. Little acorns started off so stupid when it started rocking it was good. Also the album art is cool looking but where is the elephant? Funny story I heard was jack white was saving the seven nation army riff for a James Bond movie but he did eventually get to do the guitar on another way To die for probably one of the weakest bond film uh.
Best song: seven nation army, ball and biscuit
Worst song: it’s true that we love one another (so random out of place, and bad) and I just don’t know what to do with myself
Got to witness a fight to street fighting man today. Pretty cool but the fight was kinda trash. Got to get out of this private school man! The album is pretty good with some solid material. Debating if this is high 70s or a low 80? Ima have to go 79 because there was a few weak songs in here.
Real dislike for rod stewart. Never really liked his music and this album has some truly awful singing that just doesn’t work with becks amazing guitar. The guitar is perfect throughout! Another dislike is an average of 4 minutes a song on a blues album. Blues deluxe feels like one of the only proper blues song on a blues album and it’s ruined by rod stewart!
Good songs: greensleaves (no vocals), rock my plimsoul, blues deluxe
Meh songs: everything else
Wut is that album cover?! This is so weird and I don’t know what I hate the most and what I like the most. This album with a bunch of long ass songs and 1 hr! It’s a lot! Also all there other album covers are so much nicer, Frances the mute is like a beautiful reinterpretation of a Rene Magritte painting, it’s just this one I absolutely hate!
I already had heard this album but this is literally the best! One of the greatest metal albums of all time! Album cover iconic and all the songs are peak! This is the best album they’ve given me so far. I was saving 5 stars for albums I give a 100 on aoty and I gave this a 98 but if any album deserves a 5 it’s this!
This is an album a day thing and tbh I don’t like rod stewarts voice. I said this before with truth by beck which was much worse because that’s like a bluesy album. I do think his voice is alright with this softer roots rock album and some songs like the title track and Maggie may are good. Can anyone explain the random ass amazing grace though, I didn’t like that. The backing music is really good, love the organ on last song, drums, guitar are all good and album length is good but still not a rod fan.
Really good all round album. Sweet emotion is one of the greatest rock songs of all time and is classic. I really liked you see me crying which I’d never heard before. Toys in the chest was also pretty good and walk this way is iconic.
This album was actually so good! Every song besides maybe 4+20 but still probably a 5. Love there cover of Woodstock by Joni Mitchell and I almost cut my hair might be the best ngl.
Been meaning to listen to sum sonic youth. Couldn’t hear it great because I was in line at guardians of the galaxy and it is loud in there. Overall from what I could hear pretty solid.
Damn that’s a long ass album. Luckily I had some lines to wait in in Disney world so I got through the over 3 fucking hours of jazz and show tunes. Jeez. The like show tunes vibe of a some of the songs ain’t really my vibe but I will so in general it’s a good album just not for me. Pretty impressive she can come up with this many songs I guess. Also their is 3 preludes but not one overture on here so weird.
Spottily only had the expanded edition but the if you listen to the actual track list I think it’s more solid of a list. 15 minutes of jamming to my generation is so tough! Young man blues is a new fav for me I would listen to it just for the Keith moon drum fill he does, so fucking peak! Summertime blues is a fun little cover song and magic bus is good to. I love me some who.
I liked this Sade album better. Smooth operator is her best song and the vibe on this album is more fun.
It’s a mix of a few perfect amazing songs like stone cold crazy, Brighton rock, killer queen and flick of the rust with a bunch of kinda trash songs.
You ever just look at an album and realize it’s gonna be a long day. I put this John off so long because I didn’t want to hear it. After actually listening to the album it is strange but not a throw away. Unique noises and sounds very different from the times.
This is an absolutely amazing album. Need to listen again sometime and really listen not tack a shower at the same time but what I did was amazing.
This album was so good. Album a day finally put me on. It’s a wu tang solo album and it’s super unique. A little long being a double album but it flows really well.
Oh my goodness peakkkk. I love this album but already heard it. Review:
I listened to this album a while back but didn’t get too far and didn’t really like it but I listened recently and this album is amazing! I love her amazing vocals over super fun songs with amazing guitar!
This is a top 10 album in my opinion!
Truly a gift. I don’t really fuck with Christmas music too much unless it’s the blink-182 Christmas song but this is a great album. I didn’t like Phil Spector at the end little bit of a jump scare and didn’t expect him to sound like mj.
Also first album listen with my new beats headphones I got for Christmas.
I use to bump bd went through like half of his albums last year (20 something albums) this is my friends favorite bd album and for good reason. Mine still highway 61 though. Here’s my og review:
Bob Dylan back to classic acoustic folk in the most spectacular of ways.
Maybe not my genre or sum but I thought this album was booty cheeks. I will say the folk pop was definitely not what I was in the mood for when I started but whatever 1001 albums says I do fr. Also this album was absurdly long but I could definitely see how people would like it. But but if I wanted to listen to a 2000s folk album set in Illinois I’m going with yankee foxtrot hotel which is miles better in my eyes!
Pros: song length, Jacksonville was good, well produced
Cons: album too long, most song names too long, didn’t like the vocals, album cover looks stupid, did I mention the albums too long
Someone said this album sounds like sticky fingers and I can’t unhear it. But definitely not a bad thing at all. Kept expecting a drop in quality on this album (I thought the album was 16 songs because of Spotify) but it didn’t ever happen and I really enjoyed.
Favorite song: whiskey woman
Least favorite: doctor boogie
Looks like most agree, really fun album and I loved the recommendation.
Ok hot takes here but I like everything but the title track, album cover, and back in our minds. The album cover and title are so disgusting I’m sorry but no, not feeling the maggot brains. Didn’t love the title track because it was a little boring for an almost like 11 minute song and back in our minds just sounds bad but everything else is super good funk and was definitely a put on can you get to that was a standout and the Armageddon song has a cool like nuke dropping part that’s unique.
“Not quite my tempo”
This like showtumes slowier vibe I think for the most part just drags. Spotify keeps scaring me making me think this is an over an hour album when really just 43 minutes but still really boring. I will admit I was playing cod in the background so they didn’t blend well together. The one exception I’ve found so far for slow show toon jazz vibe is in the wee small hours of the night which I really liked but this ain’t it chief!
I was so excited for this album. I wanted to listen to it a while ago but I checked aoty and it had very few reviews and like a mid seventy so I skipped over it. When I saw this on 1001 albums it meant I had to listen and thank goodness because I really love it.
My favorite songs are Babylon, this years love, sail away, and silver lining. Someone said this album is a little samey and I totally disagree, all the songs feel really unique. It also sounds so ahead of its time in my opinion, it sounds like something from 2000s or 2010s written in the late 90s.
Story time: I remember the first time I heard Babylon I was working at my job which I still have 2 years later but I had just started and it was a really small location where I was all by myself. I was working on closing and cleaning up and everything trying to remember everything listening to music and Babylon by David gray came on. I was not as adventurous back then so if I had my phone in my hand I would’ve probably skipped, but I was working so I couldn’t and man it just stuck with me. I loved it and I loved David gray so I ended up listening to more of his songs and he’s just amazing!
Three top 100 songs in one album! That’s like half of this album too. Are the other songs up to par with the likes of free bird, Tuesdays gone, and simple man, no but they’re alright. Gimme three steps is like my dads favorite so it’s been overplayed, things goin on was really good and I had never heard, i ain’t the one isn’t very memorable but it’s alright, I forgot about poison whiskey and Mississippi kid is just not good. Overall I still would give it a high score just because of the three greats.
LOVE THE DOORS!!!!
Previous review: What a beaut! Waiting for the sun and roadhouse blues are stand outs.
This is my all time favorite band! This is their third best album in my opinion and the first to not be a 100. My order is as follows: the doors, la woman, Morrison hotel, waiting for the sun, strange days and soft parade. Other voices and full circle do not exist.
This was a really good album and I love how the crowd gets involved and they sound so good and full in this like a proper choir. The songs all are amazing and my only complaints is that the album is too short and that either a belt on the recording device was slapping or someone was fucking next to the machine. Didn’t like that but I’m going with the first option and will not be taking off points.
Pretty good album. I couldn’t really listen to the lyrics as I was working on school scholarship at the same time but the beats were really nice and I really enjoyed this album. The outro is like never ending, like I’m still listening to it and it’s driving me crazy. Shout out to me for making it through this outro!
I love this album here’s my earlier review:
I definitely liked this album better than what´s the story morning glory mainly because there´s no wonderwall. Cigarettes and alcohol is a standout and the guitar sounds very similar to bang a gong by T. Rex which is one of my all time favorite albums and songs. Supersonic is peak as well.
Ok everyone be like this band such an inspiration but I didn’t love it. I think it’s one of those things where people who know about it love it yk. For me this was my album of the day and I ain’t gonna act like I hated it, it had some interesting stuff. Maybe a little anger put out on this album because I had my first day of school after winter break today.
