1001 Albums Summary

I’ve only heard some of these songs in a greatest hits context so it was nice hearing them sprinkled in with some songs I’ve never heard. Definitely an essential Neil Young album. Favorite tracks: down by the river, cowgirl in the sand

I think this was an of it’s time type deal. No one can argue with the impact and beauty of Killing Me Softly tho. I think Lauryn Hill is the only good part of it outside of a few good beats. Two covers on one album was a bold choice. Fav tracks: KMS, Zealots

If I wasn’t purposefully listening to this, every Nico feature would be a skip. She has such a bad voice/accent. Can’t name a band I associate with heroin more. Listened to this album with a 5th grade class. More kids liked it or at least didn’t hate it than I would have imagined.

So far it’s just obnoxious. The affectation of the singers voice during more swaggering songs is straight up annoying and clownish. I don’t think it’s unfair to say that Also 19 tracks is too many. The horn section is one of the few bright spots. Fav tracks: -Lost in the Supermarket (I think they sound better when they’re not trying to do so much. This one reminds me of The Replacements) -Four Horsemen

Jeeps blues is good

Didn’t listen to it all. But didn’t like Morrisons raspy bluesy voice. Love riders on the storm tho.

Corny

Classic Christmas sound. This is the highest rating I could give any Christmas music.

Heard this a million times. Favorites: Andy You’re a Star, Change Your Mind, All These Things…

What an amazing album. I’m not even half way through and it’s gonna be a 5’er. I’m glad for a reason to finally listen all the way through.

Just not for me

Def reminds me of being dead. Monday,Monday is the best one on here.

I really hate talk singing. That being said, there’s some solid instrumental parts but it doesn’t add up to something I’ll prob listen to again. Fav track: Titanium Expose

Not his best work. This def could be replaced by a band not represented on this list. Favs: Boreowed Tune, Tonight’s the Night

Worst thing I ever heard

Only liked a couple songs. The ballads got repetitive. Fav: sweetest devotion (banger)

Must have been pretty groundbreaking at the time. The industrial beats get a little grating.

If this is on here I hope every other album is. This isn’t a bad one, it’s just more subdued than previous work. Fav track: cold desert

I like it but his monotone singing gets a little annoying with each track. Better to revisit every now and then. Great instrumentals and back up vocals.

So surprised to see this one on here. I always thought it was so obscure when we listened to the two singles as kids. The rest of it is also good. Big Elton John meets Stevie wonder vibes, but it’s a little dated at points.
