Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jan 05 2026

So far I’m enjoying this way less than I thought I would — tracks one and two seem super boring and repetitive to me. And most of the rest with a couple that are ok only because they sound so sixties I enjoyed the vibe. Eg. Queen of the Highway. Also why did the band agree to name an album after one of their members…I don’t think anyone thinks that McCartney Lodge would be a great album name. I also listened to it on shuffle by accident which really can’t have helped it’s cause.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Jan 06 2026

Knew this would be a fun album with that funky bass. I enjoyed it but it’s a real disco time capsule and the lyrics are very basic and repetitive, although I don’t think they’re taking themselves seriously. Wouldn’t return to it but still a good time!

The Bends by Radiohead
Jan 07 2026

Found this pretty generic, especially because what I have listened to from Radiohead is their later stuff which is much more experimental and interesting. Cool to see where they came from however

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Jan 08 2026

Loved this. It doesn’t sound like anything else, and especially nothing else from the mid 80s. LOVE the production choices, the weird noises and instrument choices, and how she uses her voice in unusual ways, even the way she uses a “hey yo” part for backing vocals which sounds odd for some reason but works so well.

2112 by Rush
Jan 09 2026

Had heard of Rush but never their music! I enjoyed this, got a lot of Led Zeppelin vibes, especially from the singer. A bit of Who there too. Huge guitar sound like those bands too. Not really my kind of music but still!

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 11 2026

I’m no metal fan but I still appreciated this one. It’s got such a heavy mood to it but there’s heaps of separation between the instruments which made me appreciate the drums and bass I think more than I would otherwise. Not likely to listen again just cos I’m not often in the mood for this vibe but I can definitely see why it’s so influential

Solid Air by John Martyn
Jan 12 2026

It was fine, felt a little too “easy listening” to me and I think that’s because I’ve heard a couple of these tracks on The Breeze radio here. Very cleanly produced which adds to that easy listening vibe. Not one I’d revisit but a nice enough Monday morning listen!

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
Jan 14 2026

Great! Never heard of them, had no idea what to expect. Just a nice varied indie album with some catchy chill tunes.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Jan 15 2026

Heard this one before, lovely!

Faust IV by Faust
Jan 16 2026

I’ve heard Jennifer before and it’s still such a great dark groove so this gets 3 stars just for it, but the rest of the album is all over the place with sound experiments and sing songy verses, I couldn’t really get into it.

Kid A by Radiohead
Jan 17 2026

Was great listening to this so soon after The Bends which I found boring and generic- loved this in comparison! Love the electronic textures and the almost-ambient sound of it, a very different album

Very by Pet Shop Boys
Jan 18 2026

I really couldn’t take this seriously. It’s just so dated and cheesy.

Electric by The Cult
Jan 21 2026

Meh, a bit generic hair metal sounding to me.

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
Jan 22 2026

Fun when it gets funky or electronic, but a bit easy listening otherwise

Eagles by Eagles
Jan 24 2026
Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jan 25 2026

It was great listening to this entire album finally after always loving Cherub Rock and Today but the rest of the tracks don’t jump out to me. Feels like I probably would need to give it a few more listens to appreciate.

Another Green World by Brian Eno
Jan 26 2026

Love the experimentation on this but I wasn’t blown away by much of it. Likely another album I’d need to listen to a few times to “get”
