This isn't really a genre I listen to that often, but this album is really good! I'm glad to learn about it.
I’d forgotten about how good these songs are! Very 60s.
Like Roadblock; more beat driven
Not a huge Fan of the 60s rock sound
Like the parts that sound more blues-y, as opposed to the straight rock
Don't love the screaming
The whole thing has a slightly unhinged feel about it; there's not a lot of dynamics, just a wall of sound in each song
Like After the Gold Rush
Don't like Neil Young's voice, but I like the songs themselves
Like the melodiousness; like the piano-based ones better than the guitar
Not crazy about harmonica
Know Don't Let It Bring You Down from Annie Lennox, Love That song
Love Birds
I enjoyed the talent of the organist. I personally prefer vocal music. It's very 60s jazz/blues.
I only listened to part of this; it was not really my thing. 90s alternative, but the few songs I listened to all seemed the same to me.
Loved the complexity of the orchestration, the overall vibe, the lyrics
Reminds me of Run DMC.
Love Mr Mohammed
Understand why it's considered so important
I've heard Suzanne covered by someone. Lyrics are amazing in all the songs. It's really well done, but I'd prefer the songs interspersed with something more upbeat. Reminiscent of Bob Dylan.
Repetitive. I don't love heavy rock anyway, and this was just all kind of forgettable.
It was good - I like gunk in general. I was surprised I didn't know more of the songs.
I like this; there's only a couple songs I would listen to again, but I enjoyed it overall.
Did not like Rock Music, skipped it. Like Allison - more reminiscent of the stuff I liked in high school/college. Fast forward through All Over the World. I'm not into this album for whatever reason.
Eh. I thought I liked punk, but maybe not. Energetic, but I didn't enjoy listening to the whole album. A song here and there mixed in with other music would be better.
Loved this, which I didn't expect to. I've never listened to Dylan because of his voice, but this was really good. Blues and Rock and ballads, and his voice actually didn't bother me, but fit with the music. I'll probably listen to this again.
Didn't listen to all of this. Psychedelic rock is not my thing.
The only way I knew Kanye was through whatever news cycle... I didn't expect to like this album, but I did, quite a bit. I can hear how he has influenced other people. My son was excited to hear I was listening to this - he said this is Kanye's best album.
I like this - catchy melodies, indie rock that isn't just noise. Not every song sounds the same. It reminds me in places of Adam Ant.
I liked this - I only knew Talking Heads from what I had heard on the radio. I enjoyed all of these.
This was good. I knew a couple of the songs already, and liked it more than I expected to.
I wanted to like this, given how much I've heard about this group. But I had a hard time with the vocals - they just grated on me. I can hear the influence they've had on other groups. It was just okay for me.
I liked this initially, but it started to get repetitive after a while. It was a little like Moby on Valium.
Oh my gosh, this is reliving my high school years. I had forgotten about this album, but I loved the whole thing. It's just exuberant.
I knew a bunch of these already. Loved this album.
I loved every song on here, even the ones I didn’t already know. Really enjoyable! Pop/rock, with a quirky sense to it.
Love The Soft Season. In general, like this album. Rock, but melodic and catchy. Driving rhythms in some songs, others with no drums and more atmospheric. Didn't like Boxing Day.
I was debating whether I'd give this 3 or 4 stars, but then I heard Relay and loved it, so that solidified this as a 4 for me. It's not actually something I'd listen to repeatedly, but I was engaged with the whole album from start to finish.
I know the singles that got released, and they're okay. I mostly don't love this style of music though. I can't understand most of what's being sung, so reading about how meaningful the lyrics are isn't helpful when I don't know what they are. I know this was a major album in terms of its impact in music at that time, but it's not my thing.
This was interesting, but I probably wouldn't listen to it again.
This was very 70s sounding. I appreciated listening to it after having heard so much about it, but I probably wouldn't listen again.
This was good chill-out music. Great if you're in the mood.
Love love love this album! Love funk for its groove and joy.
Not a fan of Prog rock. These all just seemed to drone on forever and I ended up skipping the last half of almost every song.
I got really tired of the singles from this group when they came out, but I actually enjoyed this album more than I expected to. It's pop, fluff, but still fun and worth listening to.
Not a huge fan of heavy rock. I can listen to a few songs and then need something different. They're well done.
Didn't like the first song. Liked the third song quite a bit. Don't love the singer's voice, but find parts of every song unexpected and interesting. This is not an album I would listen to repeatedly. Liked Let Down.
Love old country!
I like Monk, but it's more an intellectual exercise, rather than enjoying the music for what it evokes.
I did not know any Arcade Fire before this album, although I had heard the name. I really liked this!
I debated about whether to give this a 3 or 4 - I absolutely loved the hits, those are the songs of my childhood. But some of the others felt a little unfocused. I decided on 4 ultimately because I could listen to this album again, and I really love the ones I do love.
I was not familiar with this group but loved this album.
Do not like.
Obviously I know the title song, and I've always enjoyed it. The rest of this album is pretty forgettable though. Nothing really stuck out to me, until I got to Babylon, because I love choral lines.
I love 70s Stevie Wonder way more than 80s Stevie Wonder, which is how I first knew him. This is an album I could listen to again.
I liked this more than I expected to - there's jazzy elements, and it's got a 70s feel but isn't repetitive. Enjoyed it.
Who doesn't love Ol' Blue Eyes?!
Reminds me of Adam Ant. This is what I think of when I think of punk - I think I don't actually like punk, I like this.
Very moody, evocative of spy movies or mysterious cafes with women dressed all in black.
There were some songs on here I enjoyed, but this didn't really stick with me.
Do not love progressive rock.
I didn't like Ghost Rider much, but I started getting into it more with Cheree and Johnny.
Love 80s, and this was enjoyable.
This was not what I was expecting. I loved it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this.
I went through a hair metal phase in college. I loved this then; now it's more nostalgic, but I still enjoyed it.
This is the kind of music I love when I'm in the mood for it, but get bored with when I'm not.
I enjoyed this, but I think I would like it better in smaller doses to listen to it again.
I liked the jazzier songs on this album, the others less so.
I love all Queen but this is my least favorite of their albums, so it gets a 4 instead of a 5.
I liked this one as much, or maybe more, as the first N Young I listened to. Don't love his voice but like the songs quite a bit.
So much cussing. I don't usually mind cussing but it just seems overwhelming in this. I did like the music itself.
I had a boyfriend who loved U2, and before this album I didn't really get it. I thought they were okay but it wasn't really my thing. But Mysterious Ways blew my mind, and this became one of my all-time favorite albums, and began my love of all things U2. They far outlasted the boyfriend.
I'm fond of this music but it's not quite a 5 for me.
I love this album. I don't know about her later stuff, but this one is really enjoyable. Elements of jazz, interesting songs, lots of variety but always distinctly Her.
Love this album. Johnny Cash is amazing, and this album at the end of his life sounds world-weary and wise, covering songs with such assistance as to make them his own.
I still love this album, but not as much as I used to since I'm not angsty and young anymore.
I really liked this, don't know why I didn't listen to it when it first came out.
There were some really good songs on here, and then others that weren't as good. Overall really good though.
Love Selfish. Boss was just okay. Don't love Venom. Like 101FM, vaguely Asian motif. In general enjoyed this.
So good. I didn't know Steely Dan was so jazzy.
This reminded me very much of like Nick Cave or somebody like that. It was interesting but I probably wouldn't listen again.
So weird to hear early Elvis and how much he sounded like the typical 50s music in places. Loved this version of Blue Moon.
This was just okay, sort of forgettable.
Dreary.
